I have been to this place a few times, but I won't go back. Today, I ordered a bagel with pastrami. I was charged over $5.00. I explained to the cashier that in the past I paid $3.35. The cashier re-rang the order and charged me $3.35. When I got to my car and unwrapped the bagel, I was baffled by how little pastrami they put on the bagel. It was truly laughable. I went here this morning after hearing it talked up for so long and I was completely disappointed. I got an egg and cheese sandwich on an onion bagel. First of all my onion bagel had so much onion sprinkle on it that it was overwhelming. Don't get me wrong I LOVE an onion bagel but this was a sorry excuse for one. My bagel was burnt and at 6am I'm just not really craving the taste of fire. I also picked up a cup of the "fresh" squeezed orange juice which was bland and not worth it. If you've never lived in the Tri-State area, then you probably don't know what I'm talking about. But please trust me on this, the Butterscotch Krimpets are the BUSINESS!!!! As far as the bagels are concerned, you can't go wrong with their Everything. However, I'm a Poppyseed man but I've tried the multigrain, cracked wheat, cinnamon raisin and onion bagels. My favorite is the Poppyseed, no matter what, although the cinnamon raisin is very good. My recommendation; go with the taylor ham, egg, and cheese on your bagel. And if you're unsure over what cheese to pick, try the provolone--delicious!! But there are other options and other breads besides bagels here. You can try a Philly Omelet or a Philly Cheesesteak here as well. But if you're strict bagel and cream cheese person, then do try the garlic and herb cream cheese, it's so savory. I don't even care that they stock Pepsi products. The bagels are that good. The kids that work here have a great attitude and provide great counter service. Got some bagels here yesterday (thanks, Daniel and Nicole!). They're pretty good. The bagels themselves are good. They have a good texture. I got a simple plain bagel with plain cream cheese. It was tasty even if a tad too much cream cheese (but to argue in the alternative, I could easily see bitchy customers complaining about skimping on the cream cheese, so I could see it being a lose-lose situation for them). Mrs. K.'s cinnamon raisin bagel was not toasted very much. But all in all it was a perfectly good experience. Not mind-blowing, but as Yelp three stars means, "A-OK." read more

I had driven by this store several times before, but as a creature of habit I continued to go to my usual bagel place. However, I found myself unable to reasonably go to my usual and went to Yelp to find recommendations for an alternative. First Impressions: The place feels small, but for Sunday morning it was remarkably uncrowded. The line set up could be improved, as you are not able to browse the tubs of custom cream cheese from line or right after picking bagels. But if you were able to locate the store, you have the mental ability to navigate this. The Digs: There is a fresh line up of bagels, some of which are so fresh they are still warm. They come in small baskets so there is a possibility that you will not get your favorite, but I wouldn't call it likely. I was able to get all the bagels that I was hoping for. I also picked up a tub of regular and jalapeno cream cheese. I personally had a salt bagel and the spicy cream cheese, and it was wonderful. I would be very happy to come here again. Coffee was good as well. The Service: The employees were down to earth people that were very approachable. They responded to every need that I had and were bright and cheerful! I would give the food and coffee and 3 star, but this 1 star is for the service. I work and live down the street and frequently come here for coffee and breakfast. Sometimes I frequent this place with my coworkers for lunch/meetings. Moving to the point of the review, some of the employees here are extremely rude. I am currently turned off by how one of them can even move to the side where the fountain drinks are and loudly say she doesn't get paid enough to be a ping pong. I'm guessing she's unhappy with her job, but as a customer that have been polite every time I come in to get treated so poorly is a horrible feeling. I hope the owners of I Love Bagels will read this and provide some training for thier employees. I've had coffee cups and my food rudely slammed at me by multiple employees. read more

Who serves you at the table or hands you your to-go order? EMPLOYEES Without employees a business would be hard-pressed to survive Apparently the owners do not realize that and apparently do not appreciate their importance. I don't care if you work for $10/hour or $50, we are all humans. Owners of this business need to step back and realize they are humans too And would not appreciate being treated the way they treat their employees Yelling at employees in front of customers, demeaning employees, accusing employees of a behavior but not discussing it directly with them and defaming the persons character by slandering the employee by discussing issues with coworkers, rumors instigated by the owner, etc. For some workers this may be their first job and for others maybe not. Either way working for a passive aggressive un business-like owner will stick with them. They will now know what not to put up with. Disgusting!!!! I ordered a toasted bagel with tomato, bacon,avocado, and cheese.. Came out not toasted, with Lukewarm sweaty cheese, cold bacon! When I brought to the front ( which i never do!) to ask if I could have it toasted and cheese melted (like I've had at several other bagel spots) I was told no problem.. Then the manager brings me back my cold bagel and proceeds to ask me how I expect them to do this!?! Really?? I can do it at home!! So I tell her how, she brings it back microwaved!!!! I come about twice a week and I have been for a while now because I go to school nearby but I've come to unfortunately despise this place. 1) MOST ANNOYING: I generally always call in my order so I can pick it up on the way to school because I'm generally in a hurry. Not once, not twice, but I don't even know how many times the cashiers have put me on "hold" (they just leave the phone off the hook) and never came back to me. They leave me sitting on the phone for over 5 minutes and I can hear them converse with one another about nonsense. If I hang up and call back the line will be busy because the phones still sitting off the hook. By that time, I don't even have time to get food anymore. So stupid. 2) One time, I placed an order for pickup I got 2 simple bagels with cream cheese for my boyfriend and I. My boyfriend wasn't able to meet me so when I got there I asked if I could cancel that portion of the order. The cashier was clueless so the manager came over and told me I still had to buy the bagel because it was already made. Wtf? Completely ridiculous!!! 3) Something is almost always wrong with my order, whether they put onions when I ask for none or they leave out my side of jelly. I've been really patient and not once acted in a rude manner towards the staff about any of this but get yourselves together. 4) Almost everyone here has a stupid arrogant attitude. There's one gentlemen on the line that's always a help. Bur everyone else is just ugh. I understand if you hate your job but there's no need to make that completely obvious. You signed up for the job, you're not getting paid to look angry 99% of the time. This is about 6 months worth of anger because I've been patient every single time but if it's that hard to not suck at your job, I won't be back. The one star is for the food otherwise if I could've I would've given a 0. Pricey food and crappy customer service don't go together. read more

I hate to write this as we are always searching for some good east coast eats. My boyfriend is from NJ and nothing makes him happier than a cheesesteak followed by a black and white cookie. Unfortunately however, we won't be back to try anymore of their food based on the fact that they don't recycle. Usually at other establishments, when we don't see a separate receptacle for our cans or bottles, a cashier is happy to take them for us and recycle them in the back. When we went up to the counter with our 1 can and 1 bottle to ask if they recycled, we received a very upbeat "Oh we don't recycle" and a smile. By not recycling, it shows your patrons that you simply don't care and are irresponsible, especially considering how much recyclable packaging this business must be throwing away everyday. It's 2014 and time to wake up. I'm not sure if this applies to I Love Bagels Cafe but according to the County of San Diego and Department of Public Works, "AB 341 and the County of San Diego Solid Waste Ordinance require that businesses and public entities (such as schools and government agencies) that have trash service levels of four cubic yards or greater or multi-family units with four or more units shall arrange for recycling service." Again sorry to say, they've lost our business...for nothing other than their carelessness. I hope they change their practices soon! read more

I called ahead and ordered one bakers dozen and one bagel bundle and asked for a little bit of everything. When asked on the phone if I wanted the bagels sliced I said yes. My order was ready to go when I got there and the bagels and cream cheese were both delicious (they were making more fresh when I got there) but I was a little bit disappointed by how they filled my order. First, they charged me a dollar for slicing the bagels but didn't tell me there was a charge when I was in the phone. Second, they gave me very little variety- there were 4 or 5 types of bagels between my two boxes compared the the probably 10-15 that I had seen available when I was picking them up. I love the bagels here! They are soft and warm. Don't be discouraged if there's a line, it goes pretty quickly. Workers are always friendly and work fast. They put a generous amount of cream cheese you can almost use it for another bagel. I've tried the plain, everything, cheddar jalapeño, honey wheat, chocolate, sesame... but my favorite has got to be French toast! It is so satisfying! It is good warm just by itself, but eaten with honey walnut cream cheese takes it to whole new level, it becomes a part in your mouth! Toasted is even more delicious! I tried to avoid that before because in case I don't eat it all it might get hard, but not the bagels here. I've gotten the French toast toasted, didn't finish it so it went to the fridge then took it out days later and it was still delicious, not stale. Can warm it up a bit if you like and it becomes soft and fluffy again. I will be coming back! read more

I wish I could eat it more often but I've moved now, so whenever I go back home I'm sure to stop in! I Love Bagles.. I really do. The last time I was here I tried the pastrami on an asiago bagle and it was pretty freakin fabulous. I love that they serve breakfast bagles all day and they have a pretty good variety of foods. Bagles and cream cheese are one of my favorite comfort foods.. now that I am thinking about it, I kindof wish I was eating one right now. I've met the manager before and he was extremely nice, the staff is friendly but not as outgoing as I wish they were. Porkroll. Real Bagels. Southern California just got even better for me. This place feels like a Bagel Shop back in my old home of New Jersey. While, I don't miss Jersey and its weather oh so much, I do miss the pizza joints, the bread, and the bagels that I took for granted when we grew up there. Oh yeah, and Porkroll. You want an explanation of Porkroll? It gives bacon a run for its money, put it that way. You can get it by the pound here, and I recommend doing so. Come here, and get a porkroll, egg, and cheese on the bagel of your choice, add the condiments of your choice. Then write me some hate mail because I didn't tell you sooner. Took the family for a bagel run and had a pretty good experience. The sit in area was cozy. We ordered and sat around waiting. There are plenty of high chairs for kiddos. I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese. After waiting a few minutes, they told me they were out, and so I switched to the everything bagel. DELISH!! Bathroom was clean. PIZZA BAGEL IS A MUST-TRY. Maybe I just love pizza, but that pizza bagel is bomb. The bagel of your choice is cut in half with both sides covered in cheese and pepperoni. I'm glad I discovered this bagel cafe especially because of the freshness of their breakfast bagel sandwiches. In addition to the first item mentioned, I have had their bacon, egg and meunster cheese on an everything bagel. Toasted to perfection and deliciousness of the ingredients. I hate having a bagel that is still chewy after it's "toasted". There are plenty of bagel shops in my area, but this one is a top contender. Unfortunately, they were out of my go-to sesame, so I opted for a toasted spinach parmesan with cream cheese. Let me just say I'm glad there weren't any sesame bagels! The spinach parmesan was delicious! Lots of flavor, soft and chewy and toasted perfectly. The cream cheese was VERY generous ( I had to wipe some of it off) and tasty. I dunno if its homemade but there definitely wasn't that tang disgusting corn-syrup that many products are ladened with. I also grabbed a bottle of water, and this all cost me less than $4!
