I took my daughter to lunch at I Love Bagels on Vista way. We ordered roast beef sandwich and pizza bagel. After I paid they told me they were out of beef. They should have all the items on the menu. After all it was 1:00. My daughter's pizza bagel looked and tasted like the pizza bagels she made at home when she was nine years old. Nothing special but $7.95. One of my favorite places to get bagels. They have a great variety to choose from with many different flavors of cream cheese. Extremely good breakfast sandwiches ... I recommend the bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. Also have lunch sandwiches although I typically only go for breakfast. Owner is super nice and friendly. Staff are okay. Some of the girls stand around and talk about inappropriate or private matters (has happened at least 3 times where I have overheard conversations I haven't wanted to while waiting for my food) instead of working and staying professional in front of customers. Ive been here twice and both times service took waaayy too long, especially considering I was the only person in line and I just order a bagel with cream cheese. Today when I went, it took 5 minutes just to get my order in (again as the only person in line) because the cashier didn't know what they were doing and there was no one to help them. Went to eat here this morning after seeing the raving reviews online. First time here.I ordered a egg&cheese hoagie and a drink. I go over to fill my drink, only to find that the soda machine doesn't work. Only one of the beverages worked (the green one) - or so I thought. So I get that, and go to my table. I drink from the cup, only to realize it tasted like filthy drainage water. Apparently, not only was the soda machine not working properly, but they hadn't even been cleaning it. I nearly threw up, and had an upset stomach for the rest of the day (thanks I Love Bagels). Then I wait a ridiculous amount of time for my hoagie to be served to me, when there was literally only one other customer in the room waiting. The hoagie itself was not even good. They are REALLY skimpy on how much content they actually put in hoagie. I literally laughed when I opened it up. On top of all this, the male employee who came to give me the hoagie at my table was extremely rude, made no eye contact, never said "Enjoy" or any other words. He just dropped it on the table, and then grabbed the order# card from my table using really aggressive body language (in the manner you'd expect from someone grabbing an object back after it was stolen from them). The only nice thing about the experience was the kind Mexican cashier lady in the beginning, she was very friendly and assisted me with my order as soon as I walked up to the counter. However, everything else about the visit left me appalled and really disappointed, and I will not be visiting again. You guys are breaking some clear food and safety regulations (clean your dang soda machines!) and reading the other review about mold in the cream cheese made me realize you have a history with this problem. People, please don't eat here unless you want stomach poisoning. read more

I could tell before I got through the door that this establishment was a non-chain, family founded business born out of a passion to serve the community fine bagels. On a weekday morning after 8am there was only one customer in front of me. The employee at the register took my order with a great smile and good cheer- a toasted an buttered bagel and small coffee- $4 even. Shortly my bagel was ready and it was delicious. Every time I come here I ask for my bagel extra toasted with easy cream cheese. How hard is it to extra toast a bagel and not glob cream cheese all over it? I work at The hospital and like to stop there on my way home from work after being up all night I just want to enjoy my bagel and take it for my 1 Hour drive home it really irritates me that the staff that works there never can make a bagel right. Today was especially frustrating when I got in the car open my bagel and realize it wasn't toasted at all. I've had this conversation with the manager before casually and she's very nice I hope she realizes what happens on the weekends when she's not at the store to make sure the girls figure out how to properly make a bagel. read more

Three stars. It is a family-run business, which deserves to be checked out on principle. The staff is receptive and funny. But, I went in a ordered a veggie sandwich, and it just felt like two pices of bread with pre-packaged guacamole. If I could offer some constructive criticism: make the hump from pre-packed guacamole to actual avocado slices, or even add boca-patties to your veggie sandwich. To start- the actual food is amazing! And should be given 5 stars alone. The reason they aren't getting 5 stars is because of the employees. Just plan on nine times out of ten that your order will be wrong. Yes- even an order like "an everything bagel, toasted with cream cheese". Be prepared for an Un-toasted onion bagel with hopefully the correct cream cheese. The only good thing is, since all the food is really good, when I come home and open a bagel pb&j sandwich after ordering a turkey sandwich I'm not too disappointed. This business is terrible as a former employee I seen numerous time of cross contamination. The staff here do not care if they use a knife to cut the nova they will use it on the next bagel causing cross contamination, they also do not care if you have a peanut allergy they will use the same knife. In my year and 3 months of working here there were certain employees that I never seen wash their hand and proceeded to make guest food. The place is honestly disgusting dirty. A lot of the food is past expiration dates and or have mold however we are instructed to "cut around". I have seen workers drop bagels and we are told by the owner ALAN AMASTER that it is okay to pick up and use again. In my time working here I've seen Alan kill a rat & go back to making bagels with out washing his hands, I've seen him drop bagels (as well as other employees) and pick them up to re use, I've also seen him take stuff outta the trash can because to him it is "still good". A lot of the times employees are not wearing gloves while touching your food. They are extremely rude and do not care about customer service. The owner is racist, homophobic, and extremely judgmental to the homeless people who come in even if they have money to pay. He claims everything here is "fresh" however if you pay attention to where they grab your bagel dog 8/10 times they are old from the day before or even longer. The "fresh" orange juice is from a bottle. And he uses extremely cheap products. If you have ever gotten sick in the same day as coming to I love bagels it's probably because the product he uses. I would also advise new employees to be careful around Alan he is extremely creepy in a pedophile way. You might as well pay a little extra and go to Einstein's bagels. read more
