It's awesome to see more Korean food in Spokane! We were just driving by and saw this gem. The seafood pancake was crunchy on the outside and chewy inside, exactly the way we like it. BBQ marinated perfect. Dumpling soup and kalbi tang soup were both piping hot and full of flavor. We ordered all our favorites and we give a 10/10 on all of them. We will be back! read more

While the digs are modest, this restaurant serves up excellent Korean food. Both the main courses and banchan were excellent. I would not hesitate to come back here next time I'm near Spokane. The food felt like it was all made with care as everything, except the cabbage kimchi which was only(!) above average, was super fresh and tasty. Not the best place to hang out late nights (although they do have a good selection of alcohol, Korean and otherwise), but a great place to eat!! read more

Went here last nite and can't say enough good things about our visit! The Tempura shrimp & veggies were light & crispy: the shrimp was tender, delicate & perfectly cooked! The special was Yakisoba noodles stir-fried with veggies & your choice of meat (we had beef): it was outstanding, fresh & delicious and a very generous serving. Also tried the Soft Tofu soup with beef: very generous amount of tofu in a wonderful broth filled with veggies & some beef. I only had 2-stars but could have gone up to 3 or 4. Service was great - they have always been very friendly! The restaurant is very clean & open. And their location is perfect & easy to get to with lots of parking. We went here during Mother's Day. We didn't make a reservation, but was able to find a table. The people who work here are nice and cheery! The food was delicious. The spicy bulgogi had the almost too spicy threshold. I'm deducting a star mainly because it seemed spendy for some of the dishes. $20 for spicy pork bulgogi for lunch seems a bit much. I know it includes the rice and ban chan, but yikes! Not sure if the refill the ban chans or not. I know a certain other Korean place that does. Regardless, I'll still be back. I'll tell you, the service was top notch. The food was served hot and fresh, picture perfect. As this is my first time at this kind of fare, I did need some clarification what these pre-set dishes were. I love the tempura shrimp, ordered as an appetizer and shared between 2. The dishes (pictured) were curious, an adventure to the palette. LA Kalbi (marinated beef ribs) were horrendous. Full of fat and gristle, it was impossible to eat them cleanly. Also tough and chewy. Now this could well be a cultural thing, and I'm extra picky regarding fatty meats. Without a knife I couldn't trim the pieces, and ended up discarding the remainders at home. My friend had the bulgogi, and it was a little better. She's also not quite as fussy as I am on these matters, and it was more flavorful and easier to chew. As I said, the service was above what I expected. I'm a tad sorry my review isn't as favorable as others, but it's honest. I won't be returning. read more

But I really really wanted to try this new restaurant because they have dishes the other place doesn't have. I had seafood pancake years and years ago and wanted to try it again. This place just so happens to make it and IT'S AMAZING!! So many delicious chunks of shrimp, squid, scallops. We also ordered spicy pork bulgogi, kal bi, kimchi fried rice, and soft tofu soup. The portions were huge. And though a little pricey, definitely worth it. This is real authentic Korean food. We will be back for many more delicious nights like this one. read more

Only thing better than food is food accompanied by more food. Stopped by a new Korean restaurant in Spokane and we were not disappointed. The banchan included spicy fried anchovies and squid strips. I feel that too many restaurants these days try to get away without including these. Dong Yang ... looking at you guys. The seafood pancake was nice and crispy on the outside. Finally the "seafood casserole" .. comes with udon noodles and a ton of different types of protein. The seafood was precooked but the noodles had to be cooked on the gas stove provided. FYI this alone should be enough for 3-4 people depending on hunger levels. It's a bit chilly inside so wear something warm if you can. My korean friend recommend us this place so we decide to give it a try. First thought on the menu is it's pretty pricey compare to other korean restaurant. Meat dishes are $19+ I ordered soft tofu soup with beef and my husband got spicy pork belly. Both dishes were delicious. Pork belly was well season and tender. Soup was hot and yummy. Came with rice and variety of side dishes. Our fav sides were the seaweed with mayo and kimchi cucumber. They gave us more when we ran out. You can chose the spicy level 1-5. Recommended level 3. Lunch menu looks more affordable. Service was friendly, food came a bit slow though, but worth the wait. We really enjoyed the food and will come back for more. Thank you. read more

Spokane, WA We will not be returning. Poor customer service. We didn't feel welcome. Disappointing meal. We were celebrating a family member's birthday and he chose this place. We were a large group of 10 adults and 7 children. The kids were very well behaved by societal standards but typical of what we normally experience with all of them. No screaming, crying or obnoxious antics. An employee came to our table and told us to keep the kids quiet. A couple at a nearby table had a child that was shrieking the whole time. We were so offended we almost left but it was the birthday guests choice so we stayed. I ordered the crab soup. The crab was legs in the shell and there was no way to eat it. I rarely write bad reviews, but this is well deserved. The last time that my family and I dined at "I Love Tofu," we had a great experience, but since then it seems as though they have changed their policy and hired new staff. Our last experience was great, the waitress checked in on us, refilled our waters in a timely manner, and replaced our little plates of Korean side dishes when we were finished. Today, we came in with 4 adults and 2 babies with a bill that totaled $60. Everyone ran out of water and the waitress asked us once for a refill when we had finished dining, the bulgogi chicken had a bone in it, I mean, no big deal. What really was disappointing was when we asked for a refill of our Korean side dishes (it's standard amongst well-run Korean restaurants) and the waitress responded "Sorry, our policy is that everyone has to order an entree." For spending $60, it should not matter if one person out of a whole family of adults who ordered entrees decides to share, especially if there are young children present who cannot eat a whole entree. I understand that owning a business is difficult, especially in Spokane, but the previous reviews about being stingy with the side dishes are something to take into consideration from an economic standpoint. Sadly, four generations of my own Asian family members who love Korean food will not continue to do business with them due to their uncultured version of hospitable Asian dining. My giant family and all the previous reviewers that encountered this treatment could have been repeat customers. That could have been a pretty nice profit for them at the cost of refusing to replace a little bit of kimchi, potato, and fish cake due to a very unheard of policy. My 10 month old and 3 year old can only eat the provided side dishes (the entrees are far too large) and unfortunately they were still hungry by the end of our $60 lunch. At least if you have a policy, please explicitly state it on your menus or use signage. If it's too ridiculous of a rule to write on a menu, it's too ridiculous of a rule to have. Such a shame, I would hate to see another restaurant establishment go under in Spokane. read more

Absolutely wonderful food. The woman who brought me my meal asked me if I knew how to eat it. I assured her that I did. She came around about 10 minutes later and explained to me that I obviously did not. She then spent more than a minute mixing my buckwheat noodles with the various sauces, which I had been dipping them in. And she was absolutely correct. you have to love a place that not only serves food, but explains to you the right way to eat it, with no snobbery or scoring, but just a pure love of passing a cultural experience on to the people on the restaurant. The noodles came with four kinds of kimchi, and I was offered extra kimchi if I wanted it. The prices were excellent, as was the service. I love I Love Tofu. read more

Thank goodness for Korean food in Spokane. This restaurant was quite tasty. With limited options for Korean food in the area compared to what I'm used to in California (or even Georgia), I think that I Love Tofu is a solid option. My boyfriend and I each had an order of Soft Tofu Soup (beef) and the Spicy Stir Fried Baby Octopus. Korean Tofu Soup is pretty hard to mess up (not going to lie). While the Tofu Soup at I Love Tofu isn't the best that I've had, it's definitely going to hit the spot. One thing I would like to see regarding the soup is silky (non-firm) tofu rather than tofu cubes. The real highlight of the meal was the Stir Fried Baby Octopus. While the dish is on the expensive side at $30 per plate, it is totally worth it. There is a generous portion of well-seasoned and well-flavored, tender small octopi. Plus, the plate is actually huge. Hope you enjoy I Love Tofu. I think it's a pretty neat spot in the Spokane area. read more

Very disappointed with the experience. My wife and I visited this restaurant to try Mul-Naengmyeon(soup bases cold buckwheat noodle) and Bibim-Naengmyeon(Spicy cold buckwheat noodle). This is the dish I love to try in Korea and Korean restaurants in U S whenever I have the opportunity. Sometimes I prepare instant naengmyeon noodle at home to satisfy the urge.
