Of the many Cape creameries I visited this was by far the worst for ordering. No system, just a jumbled crowd of ice cream deprived customers pushing to the front. However, the ice cream and fudge was very good and I would again suffer the overall experience for some more ginger and hot fudge. read more

Great authentic local homemade ice cream. They have so many flavor options, including options for lactose and gluten free folks. We got ice cream sandwiches (your choice of ice cream between two cookies baked next door) our first day and went back for shakes the next day. They must have about 50 flavor options! I have a 10 year old son with severe nut and dairy allergies. We went to the Ice Cream cafe hoping there would be something he could have and enjoy. We were not disappointed. The server could not have been kinder and more helpful. We ordered a Pineapple Smoothie and he promptly ensured the blender was completely washed and that he wore the plastic hand gloves while making it. Lived in Orleans/Brewster for two years with my partner. We ate ice cream AT LEAST once a week year round. We actively attempted to try all the ice cream spots from Hyannis to Orleans and without a doubt, the Ice Cream Cafe was number 1. I like to think of Cape Cod as the ice cream and mini golf capital of the world. Each town seems to have at least 5 of each. To be the king of either of those in such a competitive place means something. If you're on the outer Cape for any amount of time, do yourself a solid and go treat yourself to the best ice cream around. Stopped in on a Friday evening around 8 pm and they were busy but the line was moving fairly quickly. I had the kiddie chocolate brownie (very creamy, bits of brownie but not too sweet) in a sugar cone, my friend the butter pecan (very creamy, ample nuts but not very maple/buttery) in a cup and the hubby, the strawberry (loved it) in a cup. Spending the summer in Chatham was definitely not the best when it came to vegan options. But the Ice Cream Cafe was such a nice treat! They typically offer about 3 flavors of non dairy ice creams, a bunch of sorbets and non dairy soft serve. Their vegan hot fudge sundae is incredibly delicious. Delicious! Ordered the blueberry based on another review, and was glad I did. Only regret was ordering a small instead of a regular because it was just that good. But on a hot night, ice cream was melting fast, so I'm glad I ordered the small. My son couldn't finish his small soft serve twist, but he enjoyed what he did it. I love the fact that I can get a non-dairy soft serve here and even get it in a gluten-free cone (two kinds!) if I like. The soft serve is vanilla or chocolate...or better yet, a twist of both! Plenty of dairy options for your omni friends/family in hard serve or soft. They make milkshakes and sundaes too (dairy and non-dairy). This place has fabulous flavors without excessive sweetness, melting a little into creamy goodness as you savor it to the bottom of the cup. My favorite was the Almond Joy flavor which was chock full of perfectly toasted almonds. The lines we experienced seemed substantial but moved quickly as well trained college aged young women served patrons generously to their exact requests. We were there always between 9 and 10 pm, and the ice cream foodies were there, sitting at tables, in chairs out front, on steps, and just standing around talking and spooning this wonderful stuff into their mouths. Excellent place especially after the horrible experience at the Lazy Lobster. One of my party is dairy free and we were thrilled to see not just several flavors but non dairy whipped cream. Absolutely fantastic experience. The ice cream tastes great, tons of options, and the staff was very quick, very friendly and very welcoming. The line was long but they have a ton of college kids working and they make it move very quickly. Also the prices are some of the best for any ice cream I've had on the cape. I had a 2 1/2 scoop sundae with banana and almond joy ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge, and m&ms, all for $5.50 and it was absolutely delicious. This may be the best on the cape. read more

I am allergic to dairy and soy, and the manager was very knowledgable about what I could eat- which was a lot! The positive reviews are much deserved here! Son 1 got cotton candy ice cream and devoured it. Son 2 got soft serve chocolate and crushed it. Wife got a cup of chocolate fudge brownie...delicioso. I got a chocolate malt and, while I don't typically like it with chocolate ice cream (vanilla with chocolate syrup is the way to go), this was the best one I've ever had made with chocolate ice cream. Convenient location and super-hard working kids working there doing a fantastic job. They had it humming like a conveyor belt. Even though it was packed and malts take some time to make, we were in and out of there in under 10 minutes. If only we had that kind of service at the ice cream spots in Carmel, IN. I usually go to Ice cream shops for the waffle cones and I always order the kiddie size ice cream on the side because I never come close to finishing it. With that being said. I order the Pumpkin ice cream. SOOOOO good, Not only did I actually finish it I wanted to lick the cup. This is where creamy ice cream "rubber" meets the "road" of perfection! Ohmygawd...where to begin!?! We have tasted ice cream at all of the top places on the Cape, and quite a few of the lesser known spots as well, and simply stated, the Ice Cream Cafe is in a league of its own--a SUPERIOR league, that is! I always start by ordering a place's vanilla. I figure that, if an ice cream maker can produce outstanding basics, then that's a good idea of what's to come. ICC's vanilla is out of this world. It is creamy and full of authentic flavor. The homemade quality that they achieve can only be explained in their small batch, eye-on-the-details approach. This summer, they introduced ice cream nirvana when they began making Salty Caramel. FANTASTIC! Apparently we were not the only folks who thought so--we understand it became a really popular flavor with the summer crowds, earning thumbs up in a big way. Craving an old fashioned strawberry soda? I had forgotten just how much of an ethereal experience such a frozen treat can be, and then I had one at ICC, and well, :::sigh:::, I've now had several! The owners of the Ice Cream Cafe have a hands on presence to overseeing the operation of their store, which is fantastic. The extremely welcoming and friendly feeling there is just great. The service at the Ice Cream Cafe is top notch. The individuals who work there are always patient and provide excellent service with a smile.
