Even though I have not yet been to this location, I am SUPER excited to find out they are in business again!!!! My go to location was on Alhambra in downtown Sacramento but this location is on my route to work but regardless, I honestly would make a special trip to be able to have one of these cupcakes, I absolutely LOVE their cupcakes!!! I love to buy a 4 pack and cut those in quarters when I get home so no one has to choose just one flavor and besides even though I literally could eat all 4 to myself, everything in moderation!!! Can not wait to visit! Ordered cupcakes for an office party. I ordered online as I was across the country and scheduled local delivery. I didn't need to go to a store or talk to anyone doing all my selections online. They delivered exactly as scheduled and all the cupcakes were a hit. Delicious, fun and not a bad one in the lot of 14 that I ordered. I will be ordering again. I only went here because they had a groupon. I shared each cupcake with friends, to get others thoughts top on these cupcakes too. The overall response was the same. I wouldn't say the cupcakes were bad but I would suggest that I could easily produce the same tasting product in my own home. They might not look as pretty as the ones here but they will be 1% of the cost. They all tasted like Betty Crocker or Dunkin Hines batter. The vanilla cupcake was very plain base the icing was extremely sugary was where all the flavor was at. The sprinkles were nice. While the cupcakes were very heavy it was clear all the weight was in the frosting. Red velvet was nice had a pretty texture but again the same frosting from the vanilla. Nothing special. Banana was too moist. It tasted like banana bread. With a very buttery tasting frosting that had all my friends take a small sample of the top and stop eating the cupcake all together. The best was the macaroon one it was not over loaded with frosting. The coconut was a perfect blend with the chocolate cupcake. Overall I would probably not return here. It's $16.50 for six cupcakes or $2.75 each. I can make a couple dozen at this price or maybe grab another groupon for another place. read more

I went to a baby shower today with cup cakes from another expensive bakery in Granite Bay........not even close to the quality and taste of Icing on the Cup Cake. I would rate this 3.5 but decided rounding up was fair :) A friend recommended the Maple Bacon cupcake on Sunday mornings so the hubby and I made the trek this past weekend. MOUTH WATERING. It was delicious. There was a great combination of frosting and moist cake and I would definitely order this again. The PB&J has amazing peanut butter frosting but the cake part was a bit meal-y. Having been back since I have determine they excel at their frosting's but the cake is still a little meal-y for my tastes. I prefer a moist cake as opposed to something more crumbly. But the staff has always been very helpful, the shop itself is adorable and I like that they give you a schedule of flavors. I love the idea of cupcakes and I'm so happy there ones so close to me but I have to object to the idea of so much icing on my cupcake. If only there was a way to modify the amount of icing and personalize the filling on the inside! My first few mouthfuls of cupcake are usually chock full of uber sweet sugary goodness and no cupcake. (sad face) On the plus side, they have some amazing flavors and are always rotating on a daily basis. I found the red velvet cupcakes to be quite a hit with the friends I've given them to as gifts and I the presentation always shouts, "eat me!" with gusto. As I've stated before, they're great for gifts but it doesn't have a very inviting interior. No televisions, no comfy seats, no tea or cute cupcake theme gifts like t-shirts, tea cups or travel mugs. I'd totally be here more often if I could bring a couple girlfriends and have a cup of tea like they offer at other cupcake shops in San Francisco. The coffee here is pretty awful and has a weird thick taste to it so I wouldn't recommend it. read more

My boyfriend and I were in the area and decided to stop by this place. It's small inside with only a little walk-in area and the counter. The place was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I did like that their cupcakes had display tags so I was able to identify what each cupcake was. The cupcakes themselves are of a bigger size and more of a double portion. The prices per cupcake can range around $3-4. A bit much but after seeing the size seemed a little more reasonable. Flavor wise the cupcakes are good. Just not the best I've had. The cake was moist which is great, however did not have a lot of flavor. The majority of flavor came from the frosting. Which also they give you plenty of...maybe too much. Also the frosting was very very sweet. I think it was too sweet for my taste buds. Overall pretty cupcakes that are not too bad, however might not be my cup of tea. read more

Yay! It's open. I honestly haven't been yet, but it sounds like it was like it never closed. I am happy! It's my favorite cupcake place, so far. I missed my pinkalicious! The cake flavors surpass all others around, not just a vanilla and a chocolate with flavored icing. Plus, they have a consistent daily menu and there are always a special creation. (I love that!). They are priced normal for cupcakes, and cupcakes run high, even so it was reasonable. Can't wait to get over there! 3 stars because I haven't actually been to that location. I was was happy when they reopened a while back. We usually buy cupcakes for our birthdays instead of full cakes, but only when they are good like Icing on the Cupcake's. I love their buttercream icing. It might be the best around. It's what makes all of their different flavors good, but at the same time maybe more similar tasting than I'd like. You could eat any flavor blind folded and instantly know who made it. The actual cake is sometimes a bit dry. Overall, I highly recommend them if you've got a sweet tooth. Came in here recently and got 4 cupcakes. They were all rather dry and not very good. The Vanilla one had a strange spice taste to it. My boyfriend thought it was carrot cake at first, due to the odd flavor. For $13.00 for 4 cupcakes, we were a little disappointed. On the day of my wedding which was 6-16-18, the delivery driver ,Steven, comes to drop off my cupcakes and the tier I rented for the cupcakes to be on. I asked Steven, "you're setting everything up, right?" He said " No I just drop everything off." At this point Im in a panic because this tier came in a bag in around 15 different parts. I didn't know how to set it up and some of the parts were broken! Steven was so sweet. He stayed and tried to help me put it together, but we couldn't figure it out. I told him, " I was under the impression that someone from the company was going to come and set up?" He said ," I think they do for an extra charge." This information would have been helpful when I was placing my cupcake order for my wedding! My make up artist had to come out and put the thing together which took her away from getting my maide of honor ready which made us very late! She finally got it put together and it was very unsteady and it kept wanting to lean. Then I look at the cup cake tier and it was DIRTY! IT was never cleaned. It had old frosting and old cake stuck to it that I had to clean. Not happy especially with what they charge to rent that thing! Yummy Yummy. I know cupcake shops are "trendy", but you can't beat sweet baked perfection in a personal portion. I haven't tried a flavor here I didn't like. They have a list of standards and every month a special cupcake that is available daily. They are really rich, so I recommend sharing. The West Rocklin shop is really cute, but I wish it were more inviting to stay and hang out. It would be nice to sit and relax and have your treat watching tv or listening to music, rather than just order and leave. I thought this location would be large enough to accommodate a small dining area. Sift (in Santa Rosa) has just that (and amazing treats) and they are still my favorite. A couple ways to stretch your buck: *Friend them on facebook and they will occasionally have a "whisper"- a coupon code for BOGO, 6 for the price of 4, etc., for that day only. *Re-use your cupcake box to get a free cupcake with purchase. read more

I wrote a review for their flagship location off of Pacific a while back. I was pleasantly surprised to see them branching out to different locations, especially since this location is closer to me. Anyhow, we tried the red velvet, vanilla w/choc frosting, vanilla w/vanilla frosting & strawberry cupcakes today. My son LOVES cupcakes, so he had a big smile on his face when we got them today. The cakes were moist and delicious & the frosting was complimentary to the cake-- not overbearingly sweet. You can't get a better cupcake in the Sacramento/Placer area. I do not recommend coming here if you plan on sticking to your diet, however. Like me, you'll wind up falling off the wagon and licking the frosting off your fingers. read more

my husband and I waited to try this place when we had my dad visiting from out of town. It was pretty disappointing. The cupcakes we just really dry. We did however go to the one on Pacific. This was about a year ago. Just recently were on a walk near this new location, and decided to give it another shot... And WOW! My husband got the red velvet again; I got the snikerdoodle. Both we so good! moist, flavorful, and delighting! The frosting was grrrreat too! So glad we gave it another shot! I think the cupcakes are pretty pricey though. Maybe it fits the area, however. I've sampled a few cupcake places recently in different cities and out of all these have been the best cupcakes that I've had. One cupcake I had was a blueberry cupcake and it was so AMAZING. So good. And it had a gooey center which was a very nice yummy surprise. Other places I've tried the cupcakes are too small, to dry and crumbly, or not flavorful enough. These were pretty much perfect compared to all the rest. Moist, flavorful, good size for a good price and super cute decorations on the icing. Definitely will go here again and again. read more

The cupcakes are phenomenal. Just delicious. However, I had a very bizarre experience today, and it came so naturally to the worker that I can assume this is their standard protocol for handling food. My friend ordered a cupcake.....it's wrapped at the bottom so it was not strange that the worker picked it up with her bare hand. I ordered a blondie brownie....it's not wrapped, and she picked it up with her BARE HAND. I almost threw up. Then, instead of placing it directly into a box, she set it (bare, no wrapping) directly on to a plastic tray before putting it in a box (again with her BARE HAND). It was unsanitary and foul. When I went to eat it it grossed me out even more, realizing the brownie is soft, so I'm imagining her bare hands sinking in to it just seconds before I ate it. They must have tongs??? Or perhaps little sheets of paper/wrap that could be used when picking up brownies that have no wrapping around them at all? It was a really gross experience, but fortunately the brownie was scrumptious, and as I have been for years, I'll remain a customer. read more
