The servers are always friendly, this time instead of sitting at the bar i got a table. Crab cakes are always delicious. Now the fish lacked, little to no flavor.

Loved this place! We came here for dinner with friends, and it was the perfect choice. From the moment we walked in, the beautiful décor immediately caught our attention, and the friendly staff made us feel welcome. My husband and I shared an entrée, and it was more than enough. The food was delicious, and the drinks were just as impressive. The overall atmosphere made the evening even more enjoyable. I'll definitely be back! This is the kind of place I'll happily bring friends and family from out of town when I want to treat them to a memorable dining experience.

Food: Started with Ida's Biscuits, which came with sides of bacon gravy, house strawberry jam, and honey butter, all of which paired nicely with the fluffy, buttery biscuits. For our main dishes, we ordered the Gulf Shrimp & Grits as well as the Seafood Pasta. The former was seasoned nicely, where every bite was well-rounded and tasty. The grits were also had a nice texture, and they weren't runny. The latter, on the other hand, was a creamy dream, with an ample amount of seafood, including lobster, shrimp, and crawfish. Also, can't forget to mention the Jalapeño Cornbread--so delectable! Overall, great meal! Service: Ashamed to admit that I forgot our server's name, but she was nothing short of amazing--an ambassador of the restaurant. Well versed in the menu, offered great recommendations (some of which we ordered), and a very friendly demeanor. Ambiance: Casual, cozy, rustic. Parking: Parking adjacent to the restaurant.

Visited Ida Claire on Mother's Day and got there right when they opened, so we were the first guests seated. The atmosphere was nice, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I ordered my usual, the chicken and waffles. It was good, but it didn't really stand out compared to other places I've had it. I usually like when chicken and waffles comes with fresh fruit, and I also prefer either a fried chicken breast or chicken wings rather than the chicken that was served. The meal was satisfying, just not particularly memorable. Overall, it was a decent experience and there wasn't anything wrong with the food or service. Their menu has several interesting items, so I'd be willing to come back and give them another try, especially for dinner.

What a cute place for a Sunday brunch! We came at 9am with 7 people (we had reservations) and were seated and greeted right away. It's cute inside with a shabby chic vibe. We started with lattes and they make all their syrups in house. The cinnamon latte was very good. The menu had a lot of good breakfast and lunch items it was hard to choose, they also offer a kids menu with crayons. We tried the lemon blueberry and buttermilk biscuits to start and they were fluffy and delicious. For entrees we had quiche, shrimp and grits, the Monte Cristo, pancakes, and chicken tenders. I loved my quiche and the shrimp and grits looked amazing. The Monte Cristo was fairly basic and my sister said she would try something different next time. All in all it was a super cute place to grab a good brunch!

When I think of brunch, southern food isn't usually at the top of my list, but this place may have changed my mind! The ambiance is very cozy, rustic, and welcoming. It was pretty packed when I came on a weekend, so I'd recommend reservations. The chicken and waffles were top notch. It was a pretty hefty portion for the price. The chicken was crispy and the waffles had structure. The side of gravy made it a hundred times better. Definitely worth it! The banana bread French toast was ok; nothing mind blowing there. I did have a bite of shrimp and grits and it was melt-in-your mouth oozing with flavor. This was brunch done right!

We recently came here for dinner and sat out on the patio, which was perfect for a warm Texas spring evening. The vibe was relaxed, the atmosphere was beautiful, and it made the whole night feel extra special. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was just as great. But let me talk about the real star of the night... the seafood pasta. That creamy sauce was incredible rich, flavorful, and honestly so good I could've eaten the pasta by itself without the seafood (and that's saying something because the seafood was great too!). We ended up so full that we had to skip dessert, which I'm still a little sad about... but it just gives us another reason to come back. And trust me, we will be back soon!

If you are going with a big fun group I think you would really like the atmosphere. Country decorations with large tables. It gets pretty loud so you can't hear the whole table, but definitely fun vibes. Service was normal and food came out pretty fast. Honestly the best thing imo was the lazy Susan sampler. The biscuits were good. And I enjoyed everything on it. The suppler plates, pork chop and steak frites, were average. Steak was kind of chewy. I think this place is known for being a brunch place, so I would def need to try again.

Came by after work to try or some southern comfort food. Ordered the chicken and waffle with a chocolate cake to finish up the dinner. The restaurant had a really warm ambiance and our server was helpful in picking out items to try. The vice cake was tasty with ice cream. The cake was not overly sweet. I enjoyed the meal very much.

I had a Saturday brunch date with a friend and we ordered the pull apart blueberry biscuits, steak&noodle salad, and Nashville hot tenders. We were very satisfied with everything we ordered. The biscuit wasn't as dry as it normally is due to the lemon glaze, the Nashville hot tenders wasn't really the expected flavor instead tasted too sweet, less meaty but crispy but liked that it came with a side. We got the lobster mac&cheese, although we didn't see any lobster... the steak and noodle salad was my absolute favorite!! I will definitely be ordering this again on my next visit!!! The service was pretty outstanding, check up on us frequently. The restaurant is spacious but during a weekend brunch, there are no empty tables.

Service was great. They have a small dog friendly patio and it was a quick seating despite how busy brunch was. We got a mocktail, a chicken kale salad, shakshuka, and chicken and waffle (we sub it with the Nashville hot tenders). Kale salad was very flavourful but the chicken was dry. Shakshuka was kind of disappointing.. the egg was overcooked & the yolk wasn't jammy... the tomato "stew" felt like reheated canned tomatoes... the bread was good. I probably wouldn't order it again. Chicken and waffle (sub Nashville hot tenders) were really tasty. Mocktail tasted great! I'm not sure what was going on with the kitchen and it may have just been backed up that made the experience less than stellar. Still, service was good. Just the food wasn't all that great today.

We went on Mother's Day and even with a reservation had a 15 min wait or so. The Grilled Salmon was done medium and was seasoned to perfection. My allergies were accommodated. The biscuits were very good. The ambience was a bit loud but it could have been because it was Mothers Day. The Waitress was very very good. She was attentive and appeared at the right times.

I hadn't been to his place in like 8 years but I'm glad it was good food like I remembered from last time. This was our second time going in last two months. We love the patio allows dogs.

    Waitlist on Sunday?

    I'd recommend a reservation

I did see that someone answered as of 11 months ago there that there wasn't a kids menu but also saw that there may be a kids menu? Are there kid friendly options for basic burger/tendies and fries type of palates?

They do offer a few select kid friendly options, if I recall there are some tenders of some sort because that's what my 2yr old got. And a few other select items depending on your kids taste buds.

    Are there any halal options?

I do not recall any options marked that, but with the variety they offer, I would guess that you can find something. The menu is online so you can ck before you go.

Can you have your pet on the patio?

    Please don't.

    Happy hour times?

    Monday through Friday 3pm-6pm

Do you have gluten free options?

Yes, they can prepare GF dishes.

What time does the brunch menu end?

It ends at 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays

Do you have private room that seats 50?

    No.

Private ish place for a large group of 10 (7 adults 3 kids)?

I'm not sure if they have a separate room but we had 10 in our party and sat at one table. They had an outside area that was a little off to the side but think it is multiple tables and not one big table. We had one table where teenagers mingled…

    Does Ida Claire serve mimosas?

Oh yes!!! With fresh squeezed orange juice and grapefruit juice. They even have cranberry.

Can you reserve a table inside the trailer?

Hi! You can contact our event coordinator up Her at the restaurant and get it set up If there is not…

    Do they serve bottomless Mimosas?

I haven't gone for brunch there before, but due to Texas liquor laws restaurants / bars can't serve bottomless alcoholic drinks.

How do I make reservations for the trailer and does it have air conditioning?

    Yes.

    Do they have kids menus?

Yes they do have it and it's part of the sheet of paper they provide to the kids for coloring. The waffle with chicken strips that is part of the kids menu is perfectly portioned and delicious

    Are there gluten free options?

I don’t recall here being gluten free bread options. But there are items on the menu that would technically be gluten free because of no bread. It’s a southern/Cajun, home style menu.

Do they still have psychic readings on Tuesday?

SoHo Does not sure of Ida Claire

What's the wait like for Sunday Brunch?

If you get there any time after 10am you are looking to wait at least 30 minutes. Make a reservation, that way you are guaranteed a spot.

How is the noise level during peak dinner hours? On a scale of 1 - 10: 1) Being able to whisper…

I would rank the noise level at a 7 at peak time. Definitely need to speak up, not the place to whisper to the person next to you. But! Definitely not the type of place where you have to play charades, you can still hear each other :-)

At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about either the food or the service. This was an amazing dining experience, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

Even though I'm a returning customer, I still believe in giving an honest review. One thing I've always appreciated is the customer service. I'm greeted as soon as I walk in, and I've rarely had to wait for my food unless it's peak crawfish season, football season, or they have a guest DJ performing. The staff always keeps things moving, even when they're busy. The only downside for me has been the noticeable sewer like smell inside the restaurant. It can be a little distracting and uncomfortable while you're trying to enjoy your meal, and it's something I've experienced on more than one visit. Now for the food. The charbroiled oysters are the reason I keep coming back. They're grilled to perfection every single time. The oysters stay tender and juicy never rubbery or overcooked and they're served with lightly toasted French bread and fresh lemon wedges that pair perfectly with all that buttery, seasoned goodness. The crawfish is another standout. The flavor reminds me a lot of the crawfish you'd find at the Blue Store in New Orleans iykyk. You can tell they're using more than just Old Bay because the seasoning has depth and a great balance of spices without being overwhelming. Even better, the crawfish are soaked in the seasoning instead of just being sprinkled on the shells, so every bite is flavorful from the inside out. My only disappointment this visit was the catfish po'boy. Unfortunately, the fish tasted more like whiting than catfish. While it was fried well and dressed perfectly with all the right toppings, the fish itself had a very basic flavor that mostly tasted like seasoned cornmeal. I was hoping for a true catfish fillet with more Cajun seasoning and a little more personality. Overall, Tasty Tails continues to be one of my favorite seafood spots. The charbroiled oysters and crawfish alone are worth the visit, and the friendly service keeps me coming back. If they can address the odor inside the restaurant and improve the po'boy, this place would be even harder to beat. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try, especially if you're an oyster or crawfish fan.
