I've passed by this local pizza place a ton as I work a good 20 bucks north of here and tend to walk home on this Ave or the one or two over but I never stopped in here until recently. I guess there's also an Iggy's Pizza in Hawthorne judging by one of the reviews below which is a bit humorous. The staff was fine and the prices are pretty reasonable. The atmosphere was a bit unique as there were a couple loudmouth customers with one of the people coming up the counter to complain that her garlic knots were burnt and she was just loud otherwise. They have some unique slices such as a burrata one which was I think $5.50 or $6 but I had a plain slice for $3.75 which was perfectly OK. The cheese quality was the norm and it was a tad greasy. It was more saucy than cheesy but the sauce quality wasn't bad as I wasn't too sweet with good tomato flavor but I do wish there was more cheese. The most unique thing here by comparison to some of the other spots is how thin the pizza is. Even for the style, it's really on the thin end and it's almost too much so. I rarely find that a slice is almost crunchy outside of the coal oven places or similar but this pizza was so thin that it was pretty crunchy but at least it wasn't burnt. I always order Iggy's on Seamless because I don't want to know what the shop looks like. Based on the reviews below, seems like that's a smart move. Pizza is so-so staff pleasant but I can't stand when workers take your order, touch all over your pizza, take payment with cash then go back to making a pie from scratch with bare hands. This place turned out to be not bad after all. Its situated smack dab in the middle that was once an Italian neighborhood; hold-outs like Veneiro's and Russo's around the corner remain to remind us of this. The inside has a nice chandelier but otherwise its strictly a slice joint. Nice amount of seating for a small place, good view of the street. What looked like the owners behind the counter were Italian, but they couldn't be bothered to lift a hand and give me a slice while their Latino worker was busy in the kitchen. Apparently shooting the shit is more important than doing actual work for them. After a moment the worker came out and quickly got me a slice. There's a discrepancy between a price posted on the wall and what they charged me, but it was still only $2.50. Thankfully the slice was good! Crust had that ideal crisp-but-soft consistency down pat. It was alright flavor-wise, but the texture was there. Cheese was high quality and there was plenty of it. Tomato sauce was ok but overshadowed by the cheese. Overall it was a solid slice; no more, no less, but more than I was expecting from this place. I was looking for something cheap to eat for lunch and I came across the $7.50 eggplant parmesan special at this place. I didn't want to walk any further so I decided to give it a try. There was only one other person in the place, which seemed strange. After what seemed like an eternity (actually 15 minutes), my food was finally ready. The eggplant had a very good taste, the sauce was okay, but there was plenty of cheese, which made me happy. Also, the portion was huge, I think they served me an entire eggplant! Iggy's is definitely one of the best pizza places in the East Village. It goes pretty unnoticed and the name is a little hard to say whenever I'm trying to recommend it to people, but it's a true gem with some mighty fine pizza. The thin crust grandma's sicilian is seriously amazing. I brought it to a Tompkin's Sqare Park movie the other night and every single person was dying to know where I got it. It has the perfect crust that's crispy but gives a little in the center when you bite into it. I really can't do it justice by describing it, you just have to try it for yourself. My absolute favorite is that pie, with sausage, pepperoni and onions (see photos). Obviously not the healthiest of choices but when you want to have an all out pizza and movie night and make poor diet decisions, get this. Surprisingly, it's not greasy and doesn't make you feel as guilty as you should. A key factor in why the pizzas are so delicious is that they use really amazing toppings. The mushrooms are always well cooked and fresh (and lots of them), the onions are caramelized, the sausage is cooked until the edges are crispy and juicy....ahhhh! Their pasta dishes are surprisingly really good too -- I've had the stuffed shells, the ziti, the lasagna, chicken parm and chicken marsala and all were really solid. Can't beat the prices and the portions are huge -- always lasts me a couple meals. Miguel behind the counter is also really nice and you can tell he puts a lot of effort into making your order great. While performing in a play at Theater for the New City, I was scoping out pizzeria's between the theater and the subway. There are three 99 cent pizza joints in close proximity. One is fair, one is really good, the other is Papa John's. I had been to East Village Pizza and Kebab's and, I'm sorry, but those two words just don't belong together. Then, just past Schnitz, I saw Iggy's. I looked inside and really liked the atmosphere, so I went in. The little Spanish guy (is anyone Italian anymore?) took my order with a minimum of customer service, and I had to wait for the house pie to finish. "Two minutes" was really eight, but damn it if it wasn't worth the wait! Easily the best city slices I've ever had! The crust was thin and doughy at the same time. Crispy and hot, The cheese was flawless, from tip to crust. The sauce melded completely. Nothing beats a fresh house pie and Iggy's became my regular stop. I even got cast members of the play to go in and suddenly they had a new favorite place as well. Solid. The play ended and I miss Iggy's. read more

I ordered through delivery.com (they had a 20% off discount for first timers) and seamless. Delivery is slow. Prices are very reasonable and portions are huge (read: leftovers). A garlicy wedge of bread comes with the pasta. Items I love: - Grandma's pizza knocks my socks off. You can also get toppings on seamless (but not delivery.com). I prefer the original and freezing the leftovers. Might not be the best pizza in the city but it keeps my belly happy within walking distance. The eggplant pizza is my go to. Very reasonably priced and sized.
