At first, I thought about getting the Wild Mushroom pizza, but chose the classic Margherita instead. For $13, it came with San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and Parmigiano. My pizza was ready quickly and arrived hot and fresh. The crust was a little thicker and doughier, as you'd expect from Neapolitan style, but not as doughy as Simo, another fast-casual place nearby. The sauce was brighter and smoother than Simo's, which I liked better. The cheese gave it a mild saltiness, and there was a sprig of basil on top. After my third time here, I can admit this place does the pizza sandwiches WELL! I have never been disappointed after each visit and the meals I have eaten here. The owner and chefs I have met are super friendly and overall great in the kitchen! I am so glad to have a great spot right by Union Square! The sandwiches on the menu do not disappoint! I did not get the pizza the first time since I had already eaten, but I was really intrigued by the salad option. It turned out to be a corn coleslaw with chili crisp on top. I love a good coleslaw, and adding corn and chili crisp made the choice obvious. When I asked about it, the owner(I think), who was also the cashier and chef, was clearly proud of it and said this is how he personally likes his coleslaw as well. It was really good. Most places serve coleslaw straight out of a premade bucket or keep it pretty bland, but this one was perfectly creamy and tart. The sweet corn helped balance things out and added texture, while the chili crisp brought even more crunch and flavor. Later that same day, we came back and ordered pizza, and the same guy was so appreciative that he gave us a free mini dessert pizza on the house. Super friendly staff and a warm environment. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich and am blown away but how phenomenal each bite is - they've done a fantastic job of curating flavours for their sandwiches. Pizzazz is the perfect spot to get a box of restaurant-quality pizza for takeout prices. My friends and I were able to try a bunch of their pizzas during their soft opening, and we were so impressed! Pizzazz has a relatively small menu: 8 different types of pizza and 6 different types of sandwiches, but ALL the ingredients are fresh and the dough is perfection. The owner was telling us about how they had kept testing out different doughs and were able to come up with the right one the day before their soft opening - good timing! You can tell they're truly committed to making everything taste just right. We got to try the Margherita, Wild Mushrooms, Sweet and Spicy Salami, and the Quattro Formaggi. My personal favorite was the Wild Mushrooms, but every single pizza was GOOD. I intended to only eat 1-2 slices and save the rest for later, but I could not resist finishing my pizza right then and there.
