This is one of those places that treat you like family as soon as you walk inside. You order your personal pizza, they make it fresh for you in an open kitchen where you can see all the way back, and if you decide to dine in (which I would recommend, even though there are only standing tables, because it'll be way more fresh) then they'll deliver your pizza straight to you. I loved how fresh the pizza tasted and how light the dough was. You definitely end up with a lot of dough at the end, so if you're not a huge crust person this might not be your type of pizza, but it was so nice to eat a personal pie that was made so fresh like this. They were nice enough to offer me a chai panna cotta, which was absolutely delicious and melts in your mouth. Would 100% recommend if you're looking for a different kind of pizza in NYC! read more

My favorite pizza of the trip! It's a small shop but the service is welcoming and the food is delicious. My husband and I shared the hot honey pepperoni pizza and the smoked turkey sandwich and both were amazing! We took our pizza to go and ate at the tables in union square park! Such a wonderful and very NY experience for us. read more

This was not on my list to try, but I'm so so glad I did after seeing the incredible yelp reviews. We were at the Barnes & Noble in Union Square and looking for good pizza and Pizzaz came up. I ordered the wild mushroom pizza, which was literally one of the best things I've ever tasted. My friend ordered the pepperoni pizza. The portions are great, especially for the price that you pay, and the food is literally insane. It was our first try there and they gave us a panna cota which was homemade and a perfect ending. What I love the most is how proud the stuff is of the food that they serve and deliver. You can tell that everything is homemade and fresh and you literally cannot beat what they're doing here. This place is special and I can't wait to come back. Just a note that there is no indoor seating, but there are a couple of tables where you can stand. The vibe is 'fun friendly' and you cannot go wrong when in the union square area. read more

I had walked past this fast-casual place a few times before finally trying it. They serve personal 10-inch Neapolitan pizzas at good prices and also offer sandwiches, salads, drinks, and desserts. I stopped in while waiting for a showing of Project Hail Mary at the nearby Loews. The staff was friendly, and I got my order quickly. At first, I thought about getting the Wild Mushroom pizza, but chose the classic Margherita instead. For $13, it came with San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and Parmigiano. My pizza was ready quickly and arrived hot and fresh. The crust was a little thicker and doughier, as you'd expect from Neapolitan style, but not as doughy as Simo, another fast-casual place nearby. The sauce was brighter and smoother than Simo's, which I liked better. The cheese gave it a mild saltiness, and there was a sprig of basil on top. It was of overall good quality, and for $13, it was hard to beat. I hope they do well. read more

After my third time here, I can admit this place does the pizza sandwiches WELL! I have never been disappointed after each visit and the meals I have eaten here. The owner and chefs I have met are super friendly and overall great in the kitchen! I am so glad to have a great spot right by Union Square! The sandwiches on the menu do not disappoint! Having the Farmers Market choice was totally different yet so delicious! Veggies and hummus were perfect and seasoned well. The Prosciutto Sandwich is a really great choice as well! Pizzazz whips up 10" Neapolitan pies from scratch in impressive time! Think less than ten minutes from ordering to that first bite of delicious pizza. They definitely don't sacrifice quality for speed -- each pie was served up piping hot and topped with fresh cheese and ingredients. If you're hungry, one pie is usually a good amount per person. They also have sandwiches on the menu if you aren't up for a whole 10" pie to yourself. I did not get the pizza the first time since I had already eaten, but I was really intrigued by the salad option. It turned out to be a corn coleslaw with chili crisp on top. I love a good coleslaw, and adding corn and chili crisp made the choice obvious. When I asked about it, the owner(I think), who was also the cashier and chef, was clearly proud of it and said this is how he personally likes his coleslaw as well. It was really good. Most places serve coleslaw straight out of a premade bucket or keep it pretty bland, but this one was perfectly creamy and tart. The sweet corn helped balance things out and added texture, while the chili crisp brought even more crunch and flavor. Later that same day, we came back and ordered pizza, and the same guy was so appreciative that he gave us a free mini dessert pizza on the house. Super friendly staff and a warm environment. Definitely worth stopping by for a bite if you're in the Union Square area. read more

Just left this establishment, and I cannot stress enough how you need to visit this place!!!! It's a small shop with fresh made pizzas, these gentleman were true Italians! I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich and am blown away but how phenomenal each bite is - they've done a fantastic job of curating flavours for their sandwiches. I also ordered the Nutella ricotta strawberry mini croissant dessert and even that - the perfect bite!!! I am SO happy I came by, they just earned a regular customer. Many folks walk in and walk right out because they're looking for slices but I'll tell ya what the gentleman behind the counter told me - for the same time it takes another shop to reheat up a slice, he's just made you a fresh individual pizza!!! read more

Tried the Margherita, and it was quite decent. Crispy crust, hefty weight so the slices stayed upright, generous amounts of sauce and basil. If you're feeling peckish in Union Square and don't want to spend too much, you could do worse than this $13 pie. read more

Got the prosciutto di parma pizza, and I cleared the entire pizza including the crust. It had prosciutto, parmesan, arugula, and balsamic vinegar, and everything went well with pillowy soft dough. It's pretty small in there, but you can take it to the union square park and just eat there. The pizza came out pretty quickly too. I'd love to go back soon to try the hot sausage pizza read more

Came here after stopping by the farmers market. The owner greeted us and told us a bit about his dough. Let me say that it tasted out of this world. Perfect crispy yet soft dough. Toppings were super fresh. Owner even threw in an Italian pastry for us. Location is great and the wait is about 5-6 minutes for FRESH pizza. Please try this! Phenomenal. We went for lunch today and had a smoked turkey sandwich (made with fresh pizza dough, burrita, spinach, tomato, pesto!) and a margherita pizza with vegan cheese and added arugula and artichokes. Where else can you get this level of food made right in front of you in 5 minutes? My sandwich was the perfect amount of mess and goodness, and the pizza was as good as any you'll find in a fancy Neapolitan spot. I also love the decor. Clean, colorful and spotless. I came across this place by accident walking by and I discovered this place wow I am so highly impressed and recommend to everyone who loves authentic pizza and quality! Not sure if this is a hot take, but their mortadella sandwich is my vote for the best sandwich in NYC. Better than Pisillo, All'Antico Vinaio, Court Street Grocers, Mama's Too, etc. The pizza dough as bread is genius. I both hope they blow up in popularity because they deserve it and hope they don't since then I will need to wait in much longer lines! read more

Pizzazz is the perfect spot to get a box of restaurant-quality pizza for takeout prices. My friends and I were able to try a bunch of their pizzas during their soft opening, and we were so impressed! Pizzazz has a relatively small menu: 8 different types of pizza and 6 different types of sandwiches, but ALL the ingredients are fresh and the dough is perfection. The owner was telling us about how they had kept testing out different doughs and were able to come up with the right one the day before their soft opening - good timing! You can tell they're truly committed to making everything taste just right. We got to try the Margherita, Wild Mushrooms, Sweet and Spicy Salami, and the Quattro Formaggi. My personal favorite was the Wild Mushrooms, but every single pizza was GOOD. I intended to only eat 1-2 slices and save the rest for later, but I could not resist finishing my pizza right then and there. Please note that this is a small place: there are only 2 standing tables, but it is primarily for takeaway. Get a box and enjoy the nice fall weather in Union Square! read more

Pizzazz is my favorite new pizza s spot, and the pizza did not disappoint! The quality was outstanding without being overpriced. Personal Pies only ! The crust was like pillows, and the doughnuts were incredible. They also had a dessert with chocolate spread and strawberry cream in a mini croissant that was to die for. Where to start .. this place offers such a cute , modern, fun ambiance-from the oven to the uniquely shaped high top tables. I got the Quattro formaggi pizza and it was one of the best ones I had. The pizza dough is of superb quality-no bloating afterwards all signs of high quality. ((4.5 stars)) Sunny…read moreand Annie's is very much a 24/7 neighborhood gem of a corner store and deli. it's packed with packaged foods--candy, chips, cookies, ice cream, soft drinks, beer, and a lot more plus the deli counter serves ups an endless list of creative sandwiches. i am not going to say this place is cramped but it kinda is. for example, if people stand in the wrong areas of the store, it will cause a complete standstill of a traffic jam in the store. my advice: order from the deli (and stand somewhere people aren't trying to get to) or grab whatever you need, pay, and leave. this place is not a place to linger. keep it moving. anyway, the obvious draw of Sunny & Annie's is the endless list of sandwiches that are handwritten cards that are stuck outside glass of the deli counter. there is literally something for the pickiest eaters--from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps, and more. some sandwiches are named celebrities, politicians, etc. i have ordered a bunch of different sandwiches and have not made it through much of the menu. you can also create your own Frankenstein monster of a sandwich. while the sandwiches are a big part of the draw, the insane amount of snack foods crammed into the store is quite remarkable from the large stand of Doritos, Takis, Cheetos and other popular branded snack foods in the front to the separate stand of Wise snacks to an entire back corner of the store filled with all kinds of chips, popcorn, etc. imo, Sunny's has the freshest-tasting Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. i know an insane take consider it's a packaged popcorn snack from a megacorp (PepsiCo), but i'll die on this hill. maybe it's cause Sunny's sells a lot of Smartfood popcorn so it gets refreshed often, maybe they have a secret in/pipelinbe from the factory, or it's just magic/alchemy. i don't know, but the Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn never tastes stale-ish like it does at grocery stores, the bags never feel deflated because they have been on shelf long, and the popcorn never has that soft mouthy feel but still has the crunch to it. maybe it's just me, but Sunny's serves a great list of sandwiches...AND the freshest Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. beyond the snacks, the service from the deli to cashier is upbeat and friendly. in all seriousness, Sunny and Annie's is an Avenue B institution at this point and remains a charming family-owned store--and is NOT a sterile modern clone of a neighborhood business.

Had a great experience at Pizzazz in Union Square, New York! The Margarita and Spinach Pancetta pizzas were delicious - perfectly crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and so flavorful! The staff was super friendly and on it, making sure we had everything we needed. The music they played gave the place such a cool vibe.
