How can anyone possibly dis IHOP. Well, it's pretty easy actually, if you go in not knowing this is a couple notches lower than Denny's. Good food, pleasant service. I always over-order here, and the country friend steak (my only reason for treking here) is tasty and hearty enough. Tip: this is a relatively small location, so if you want a table instead of the smallish booths, they can seat you in the back where there are plenty of tables. read more

Terrible service. Go somewhere else. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE OR CALL IN. I ordered through the IHOP app the first time (about 2 weeks ago) and again today, but this time I called in. The first time, I arrived at the restaurant about 30 minutes after I placed the order through the app. They could not find my order, and then I was told the cooks never received the order so they were just going to start to make it. I waited about 15 minutes and when I got back to the car with my order, I double checked it, and an order of pancakes was missing. I returned to the restaurant, then waited about another 5 minutes. They did not seem organized and the servers and cooks were not on the same page. I overheard a server ask a cook if they wanted a picture of the order through text or through Snapchat. Seemed unprofessional and unsanitary to me that a cook was utilizing their phone to look at the orders. Today, I called to place my order and was placed on a 5 minute hold, then placed my order. I arrived about 25 minutes after placing my order and I stated that I was there for pick up and that I called in earlier. I was told "Pick up for Star? Ok I'll take care of you in a sec". I stood in front of the registers for about 10 minutes with 4-6 different employees only taking care of people dinning in. After about 10 minutes I asked two employees when someone was going to check on my to-go order. Again they ask for my name and it turns out my order was ready the whole time I was waiting there. I told the person ringing me up that I had been waiting for almost 10 minutes because one of the employees said he would help me in a bit but never came back. He asked me to point out who it was, however he did not seem to care whatsoever. They all need to work on their customer service and communication skills. Don'tk know where to begin. The moment I walk in the upseting experience began. The worst service that I have encounter. If it wasn't for the 24 hours I would have left this sad location. There is nothing worst than to see your staff and manager touching and holding each other in an appropriat way. I came in took 10 min to be greeted to be seated. It was normal coming from this location to take more than normal to be acknowledged. What really got to me was the poor servive and the un experienced staff. This is one of the slowest IHOP's I have ever been to. Me and multiple friends came late night and were rudely ignored for more that 40 minutes for just a table. The food was extremely slow and food was just sub par. If there was anyplace in the area that was open 24 hours I would highly suggest otherwise. read more

For those prices, I could consider the food here as a good one. I ordered breakfast with the country fried stake. The plate was delivered not so fast but was piping hot. The stake was not overspices but balanced as taste. Ihope is not an expencive or fancy restaurant. I just eat for cheap here. Usually, the waiters are are nice and friendly and willing to appoligize on the spot if ther is a delay re the delivery. I never had here regretable or dull moments. The doors are open 24 / 7 and for me, the place is perfect for late night bite or early morning breakfast, accordind to my job shifts. They have a armed securaty gurd standing around and looking in and around the restaurant. I feel strange eating with firearms around, but somehow this is giving me a peace of security. read more

I've been to IHOP maybe a hundred times in my remarkable life (in HS and college we'd go to IHOP or Denny's late at night to talk, get junk food after hitting the parties or bar, or to cram for exams) and this location just twice. Each time my companions and I wanted to go to Ann Sather's, but were too lazy or indifferent to walk or drive. The first time was the morning after Halloween and was a lollercaust. Nothing better than seeing a restaurant full of hungover, costumed patrons; especially the 6'5 drag queen rockin' 10 inch platforms and fright wig and buff boys in bondage gear and body glitter with peacoats haphazardly thrown on, and raising our coffee cups and winking in salute to one another out of our respective fabulousness and recognition of each other's previous debauchery. Both visits we were sat at the same booth (curious). And both times we had the same server who demonstrated an extreme charm and an artful skill, only comparable to that I've experienced at Froggy's or Le Francais. One companion (a longtime fine dining server) and I were puzzled and pleased. 404 error. Does not compute. Now, don't misunderstand me. We were satisfied, yet mystified, as she seemed too talented for IHOP and we tipped her 50 percent. I wish I remembered her name. But, she has an auburn bob and cute, perpetual grin. Each time I got my standby; Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity and coffee. Everything tasted good for the price. The bacon was crispy, like I requested, the hot cakes and eggs fair. Moreover, I like that every IHOP has coffee and orange juice carafes. It makes the patrons happy and saves the server's time on fetching refills. Even I am baffled by my pleasurable experiences here; but when it's a cheap dive and you get good service and your meal is at least satisfactory, should you really ask for more? Can a chain greasy spoon exceed expectations and provide bang for your buck? Food for thought. read more

GAYHOP is the finish line after a night of drinking and "ho-ing" around in boystown. It's sort of like the final paragraph in a 5 paragraph essay - "After a night of excursions in Chicago's Boystown, we head to IHOP to summarize our day and soak up our alcohol-laden bodies. We see the leather bear from Bucks sitting with the silver daddies enjoying a short stack of pancakes with bacon. Across from them is the attractive security guard from Spin sitting with Drag Queens sharing two orders of Chicken tenders (those cheap skinny bitches). There are some restaurants I've just never felt compelled to write a review of - IHOP being one of them until today. But after a long hiatus, I returned to IHOP for "Free Pancake Day." My shocking revelation was the following: the pancakes at IHOP are way better than any of the fancy schmancy brunch places around the city. The perfect amount of butter, the warm syrup, the delightful fluffiness. These were some damn good pancakes. How had I not realized this earlier in life? Maybe I was just taking IHOP for granted all these years. Though the bacon is pretty awful (which is a big problem, in my book), the hash browns are good and I appreciate all of the flavored syrups and the fact they serve Tropicana OJ. And the waiters...SO NICE! If this place was BYOB (bring your own bacon) I'd come back more often... read more

I feel a little weird giving an IHOP five stars but you know what? They totally deserve it. And I love that everyone calls it Gayhop. Too cute. Tonight was my first time stopping in - I'd just gotten off work at midnight and felt like walking home to Lincoln Park from Irving Park Road (yes, in the snow). As I was trudging south, like a beacon in the night, the familiar red, white and blue logo beckoned. How could I refuse? I couldn't. So I didn't. SO IMPRESSED! I've always been a fan of ihop. My lover not so much. I insisted on going this Sunday afternoon. When we got there, they were pretty busy. I was a little hesitant to wait. They said it'll be 20 minutes. We walked around for 10 and went back to wait inside. They called us at exactly 20 minutes! We had the best server. Didn't get his name. but 10/10 service. The food selection was great and service was quick and so nice. I asked what his favorite omelette was. Even though they were busy, he really took the time to figure out which omelette was the best. At one point i dropped my knife on the floor and another server came and brought me a new knife within 30 seconds. We ordered 2 coffees and they brought us a HUGE pot! which was greatly appreciated. When we were done he brought us TOGO coffee cups. My lover and I walked out of there so impressed by our server and the service we received as a whole. We will definitely be back as I think we've found our new favorite breakfast spot. 10/10. thumbs up! read more

This IHOP was not my favorite by far. It's a bit small height wise (I'm 5'9 for scale). It was about a 4 minute wait since the table was clear it just needed to be cleaned but I know the morning rush was a lot! When we made it to the table, there was still what looked like powdered creamer on the table after they 'cleaned it'. I had to wipe the table myself with a wet one which was a little annoying. I always check my silver ware before drinks are even brought to the table and they were dirty with water stains and one food stain on the knife. I didn't ask for them to be sent back or to get another set, I simply asked for a cup of hot water to clean them myself. Our server did by hesitate when I requested this! Speaking of our server, his name was Leo and he was very polite! He came back with our drinks right after we ordered them. We asked for 5 more minutes to look over the menu and Leo was back within the 5 minutes after it looked like we were ready to order. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my wife ordered the classic burger with fries. She said that her burger was delicious and had really good flavor! And I think they have a deal going on where you can get a fry refill if you want which is cool! My chicken and waffles were pretty good. The chicken was delicious and cooked thoroughly! They have some amazing honey mustard sauce as well! The waffles could've had more batter in my opinion. They seemed a little hollow to me. The overall experience was fair. This is the Jekyll and Hyde of all IHOPS. Daytime: it's a regular old IHOP visited by all types of people from the area. It's fast, not 100% clean and just plain cheap. Nothing spectacular but it's not horrible food. It's IHOP. You know what you're getting. Anytime after 1:00 AM: it's like the after party when the bars close. I don't know how the waitstaff handle the night time crowd but I'd start with a few kicks to the head. Maybe that's why I'll never work at IHOP. It's rowdy, loud and full of drunks. They don't seem to kick anyone out, or at least I've never seen it happen. It's been funny, scary, annoying and hilarious all at the same time. Same service, same food, same prices. On our way out of chicago, my fiance really wanted to try the ihop that we had walked past so many times. I don't get the draw, but he loves his chains, his familiar food, so I obliged. We expected a long wait, nope, seated almost right away. I also expected some typical "midwestern" service, as we've come to call it. Nope. After being seated, and looking through our menus, are super friendly, super bubbly server came over to offer drinks, and answer questions about the menu (yes I had questions, I don't eat at ihop, ever!). I was going to just get an omlet and some fruit, but the whole "Hawaiian pancake" thing intrigued me, so I went with it. The food was actually pretty decent. Not mindblowing, but it's ihop. My hawaiin pancakes were just pinapple pancakes. But fine. Coffee refills came in prefect timing. I didn't really understand why my fiance's food came with syrup, when there was syrup, four syrups actually, on the table. If you are looking for fast and easy breakfast, this might do the trick. read more

5 stars for IHOP? Yes! Food here always comes out perfectly cooked. Staff is friendly. Prices are low. They sometimes have special pancake flavors that are really good, such as tiramisu. The customers and staff here are all colors of the rainbow, black, white, young, old, gay and straight, making for a delightfully diverse dining experience. My only concern is that they have trouble with any special requests. Don't want butter on your pancakes? Your pancakes will have butter on them anyways. Want to substitute bacon for sausage? I bet you'll get sausage anyways. The cooks are like MACHINES pumping out perfect food fast, but they are on autopilot, and can't change course that well. I'm not reviewing IHOP for it's food but for an amazing deed I saw happen. I was driving waiting at the stop light and noticed an older man on the corner just standing there waiting to cross. Then all of a sudden I see an IHOP waitress latina running towards him. I was thinking he forgot his credit card or his food. That was not the case. The gentleman waiting to cross the street was blind and she went out of her way to help him cross two streets. They talked as they crossed, she was being very sweet to him. Then she runs off back to work with a smile. Just wanted to let her know that someone noticed you doing that today. It shows that there are still people in this world that care about other people. I will be going out of my way to go to that IHOP. Thank you for doing what you did. Lets all go the extra mile to help someone in need. read more

I'm not afraid to go against the grain, and this is one of those times. I thought it was really good! We went here last night because it was the closest place open at 11pm for dinner and one can only eat so much pizza. I haven't been to this location in years, and that was a post-drinking food binge. This visit was evidently a great time to go: it wasn't crowded, so the service and food were good because no one was rushing as it wasn't mobbed in there. I wasn't expecting much, to be quite honest, but I had a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich that hit the spot. My girlfriend said she thinks their portions have gotten bigger since she was an IHOPPER back in high school. When was the last time you heard about a place increasing the size of their portions? My friend and I went there at 2 am. We wait for our table. No one came til 10 min later waiting. And it is I understand. We order our food. We wait 1 hour til 3 am... other tables got their food. Ours not... and after one full hour the guy comes to tell us he asked in the kitchen and they told them hour food would be 20 min extra. Really? 2 hamburguers and 22 omelets? Call me crazy, but I like the IHOP. Normally I'm the girl who will do everything in her power to avoid chain diner breakfasts from places like Perkin's and Denny's, but if someone suggests IHOP? I'm all for it. I have been to the IHOP at 7:30 in the morning with my parents. I've been here at 10 p.m. after wandering the streets drunk all day during the PRIDE parade. And one time I came here at 5:30 in the morning after I'd been to a scary warehouse party somewhere on the south side. And you know what the common denominator was, no matter the time of day? The food was good, hot and hit the spot. And the servers here are fast. In and out. That's one of the only good things about chains--they've mastered the churn and burn method of food service. But at least at IHOP they do it with a smile and you don't leave feeling like you just got ripped off. read more

We had a friggen great meal with excellent service. (We left Swen, our waiter, a 40% tip he was that great.) Their eggs tasted like they had crack in them. They were some of the best scrambled eggs anyone at our table had ever eaten. (No we were not high or drunk.) The french toast was great too. I love supporting local diners but the next time I am craving breakfast food, I am running back to this iHop instead. I have eaten at many other iHops but this one was unexpectedly fantastic. My only 2 complaints: 1. They don't serve grits because the 'boyz in boyz town don't like too many carbs.' Shame on you boyz. Grits are great. 2. When we asked our waiter what made the eggs taste like magic, he said they put pancake batter in them. This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to. It's not because of the food, IHOP food, although satisfying, is IHOP food. This place gets 5 stars for the phenomenal service. I've never been around nicer, happier people, who have to work as long and as hard as IHOP employees. I've been here at all times of the day from weekend breakfast to weekday midnight snack and the excellent service remains consistent. Does the food blow me away? No, it's fast food. But the people who work here earn every penny they make. Plus it's open 24/7 and is so close to where I live. The staff here is top of the line and always make my niece who is a afraid to talk to strangers open up and claim this as her favorite place in the city (next to Orange on Harrison). The rare time there might be something amiss wit the order they go above and beyond to fix it and make the service they give for the rest of the visit that much better.... Again though it is IHop. I was biased before I ever even met the staff.
