Came around 2:30 AM on a Saturday.There was only one waiter there, and she was very kind but seemed extremely exhausted. I think having another waiter may be a good idea because she just seemed so tired from all the work she had to do alone. Denny's has multiple waiters past midnight... why can't IHOP? Especially late night on a friday. Service was slow. All three of our waters finished and we weren't able to get a refill because our waiter was too busy with her 5 other tables that needed servicing. The food was still great! I only got the appetizer sampler and it was delicious. I substituted out the chicken pieces for more mozzarella sticks and it was a great deal because an order of 5 mozzarella sticks is $7.49, but a sampler costs $9.99 and has like 9 mozzarella sticks + onion rings (chicken crisps substituted out). read more

I am sorry.. But this is my 3rd coming to this Ihop location but it is just getting worst... I really dont know where to start.. First of all, the holes in the seats.. Patch it up please if you dont have a budget to change it to new ones. Floors-sticky.. Food-i attempted to try the biscuits and gravy, the most driest,salty that i was only able to eat 1/4 of the biscuit. The picture speaks for itself. I was imagining fully soaked biscuits. My eggs was overcooked with crunchy sides.. My sister's omelette was dry. Service-the server only came at the table 3 times, to get our order, called them for extra butter and when it was time to pay the bill. Which they charged us for an extra cup of coffee. And it took them a long time to serve us the food. They need to fix these problems since i have been reading the same complaints with other yelpers if they want to stay open. My stars are only for Karla- Me and my fiancé did something we have never done - we kept asking for to bring us this or that and she had to make a lot of trips to the table. But her demeanor remained the same - friendly courteous and helpful. As far as the management goes- Johnny - the manager needs a refresher course in restaurant management - the place is a mess- took forever to be seated very disorganized! It is always like that when he is here. When Avadon is here - it is a totally different place - seating right away- the place is very clean - and it looks like it's a well oiled machine everything seams to go very well! Like tasted so bad I spit it out. Then my niece found a hair in her orange juice. Then I ordered the chicken finger meal and I asked for a lot of honey mustard. The waitress came back and said her manager told her if I wanted more then the little tiny amount of honey mustard they provide then I will be charged for it. So I can use an entire bottle of ketchup and syrup but you are gonna charge me for extra honey mustard. For 6 chicken strips what you give is not nearly enough. Then my niece opens her napkin to get her silverware and there is a pink stain on the inside of the napkin. Umm not ever coming back. I have been a customer there for over 20 years the past three years visiting their only a few times, their service is horrible. Ever since the old host that was there for 15 years passed away this place has gone downhill. Today we went in to grab a quick breakfast. What happen next was unacceptable. We arrived at about 10:45 AM sat at our table with no one coming up to us and asking us for a drink order or anything Finally, I asked a waitress walking by that walked by us several times and never stopped... I said is someone going to take our order and the waitress just shrugged her shoulders and said I'm not sure hold on. She then proceeded to do her job with other tables but never came back to us finally she stopped back at us and said OK I'll take your order. I then proceeded to order my usual she never asked if I wanted toast hashbrowns or pancakes she just assumed so I said. Do I get a choice of my side items she said yeah you can have toast hashbrowns or pancakes. I said wow what were you going to just assume I wanted something. She then went to my partner and asked him for his order and then all of a sudden she said hold on a minute walked away from the table went to the host and then came back to us didn't even finish our order and said the host is going to take your order. Keep in mind this is almost 30 minutes after we arrived. I got up and walked out! Also this place is filthy dirty and has no customer service smiles at all everyone walks around like they're overworked and underpaid with a frown on their face and not happy. Good breakfasts. Tasty pancakes, and eggs. Omelets are OK, but I prefer their scrambled eggs. They have great Turkey sausage. If you did not know, you'd swear it was regular pork sausage. We've been here several times since we moved into the area. Food is standard with all of IHOP but service here is subpar. There are two good servers we've had! The rest ignore the tables and don't come back to check on anything. You walk in and are waiting forever until someone notices you came in to be seated. The online ordering is a joke. We ordered at home and waited a little bit to leave our house. The drive there was about 10 minutes so I expected to wait a bit for our order to be done. I walk in and the cashier is super busy trying to close everyone's checks so I wait. The host is in the back laughing and chit chatting with other servers. I waited another 10 minutes before letting him know I had online order. He takes more people before going to check in the kitchen. He comes back and says it'll be out soon. I don't know about you but soon to me is 10 min. I waited close to 45 minutes for my paid online order! That's in addition to the 15 min car ride and 10 min wait time to be acknowledged! I checked my food and things were missing and the hash browns were burnt but I was not about to wait another 20 minutes ! Horrible. read more

To anyone that would ever consider coming to the IHOP at 101 Randall Road in Elgin, Illinois DON'T! Was just there after a year away and the service was worse than horrible. Our waitress came to the table 5 times total - getting our drink order, bringing our coffee and taking our order, bringing butter, little plastic cups of syrup (no flavored syrups any more, by the way) and Splenda, and bringing our food and she filled my wife's coffee once (but the waitress was talking on the phone instead of checking on our meal). My wife ordered the cannoli pancakes which came out with 2 of them without any filling and the third with a little filling. I had the Ultimate Bacon and Sausage combo with the "unlimited" pancakes. The pancakes came out cold (so much so, the butter did not melt on them - even after the 10 minutes it took for the manager to come). The manager asked if they could re-cook anything, but after having been there an hour we needed to go. They never even offered more pancakes, I got one cup of coffee and our waitress did not come back to the table - she walked BY us several times, but never bothered to stop. She didn't even bring us the check. We got up and the manager got our check so we could pay and leave. We have other breakfast places near us that are crowded to the gills and a 20 minute wait at 9:00 on a Sunday, This IHOP had no wait at all - for a reason. We went here because we are in town and my dad likes IHOP not because of any budgetary reasons or because of a lack of other breakfast places. The servers etc were happy to help and easy to understand. I had an omelet which was surprisingly good. I didn't eat everything because I wasn't feeling well this morning. However, our food was quite long in the making, and didn't come out for at least 7 minuets after the server told us it is, "coming right out- its in the window waiting." Sorry ass location. This particular store is an embarrassment to the franchise. First of all I went there parking lot was empty. Hostess seated us and took our order. After we sat down we could hear cartoons coming from a tv but there are no TVs I look around and see two little kids sitting in a back booth with an iPad blasting you tube cartoons. I said why are two little kids sitting there? Where are the parents ? Can the turn the cartoons down? She then went to the back and then went to the kids and they turned the thing down. Turns out they were the cooks kids. We then placed our orders I had the buttermilk chicken fingers with 3 pancakes my son ordered the monster burger with bacon only. Wife ordered the brunch burger. These 3 items at the Saint Charles location are the best things on the menu. Here they were all wrong and horrible. Son got a single patty burger with everything on it. Opposite of what he ordered. Wife's was tasteless she had me taste it. It was. Mine had chicken fingers but they were the old ones not the ones I ordered. Hi I usually call an order over the phone but today I made my order on line I got there and I ask the person up front if my order was ready and he said yeah it's ready and I also asked him if everything was there and he said yeah I got to my car and I check if all the food was there and it was but when I got home none of the condiments where in bags no syrup, no forks, salt and pepper usually they forget something but today I got really mad because they forgot every condiment and I called the restaurant and I talked to a person that to me he wasn't very professional and friendly at all usually when I have a problem they are not very friendly any way when you make a order at this place double check your order because most likely you will be missing something. There just isn't much positive to talk about with this place. They did just recently undergo a renovation, and it looks nice, so I guess that is a positive. Everything else is just like the stars suggest, meh. Food is average, service is hit or miss (I will admit more hit than miss). My biggest problem is actually with management. I seems like every time I go with my family on a kids eat free night, they insist on trying to charge us for the kids meals. EVERY time, I end up asking them about the kids eat free meal, and then they take it off my bill. I'm shocked at some of the reviews here. We usually go on weekend mornings & have done so for basically 20 years. The manager and many of the servers & busboys have been there since that time or nearly so. The food is dependable--always what we ordered and cooked correctly. We have never, ever had slow service, nor have we had to wait for our food. Maybe it's different in the afternoons & evenings, but weekend mornings are always busy and things are pretty snappy in my experience. The hostess was rude right when we walked in. The table they tried to seat us at was right next to the bathrooms even though there was room away from there. The bathrooms smelled so bad I almost puked. After waiting an hour and a half we finally received our food. They served us burnt crepes, uncooked fries, and barely cooked eggs. The Elgin IHOP location is far from my house and there are 2 other locations close by but we still manage to drive to the one in Elgin just because their staff is extremely friendly! I always see the same people working there from past years and thankfully, they are the nicest ones!
