I've only had one bad experience here. I ordered food for pickup and when I arrived they told me some items were still missing. Waited an additional 30 minutes, asking for updates every 10 minutes which I didn't get. After waiting another 30 minutes (50 minutes total) the young man at the front told me he didn't have my order and that there were no to-go orders in the back and told me my order was probably never processed. Even though when I first walked in he said they were waiting for a few missing items. My boyfriend walked it, spoke to the manager who was very professional. I saw him with other customers and employees and he was really great. Once the manager was involved they found my order under a different name which caused the whole confusion. It doesn't explain how they first told me they were missing a few items at the beginning and even repeated my order to me to confirm it was mine. Or how he told me that there were no to-go orders in the back (all he did was turn his head). They had to reheat the food, instead of remaking it after having it sit there for 50 minutes. Food tasted off. We didn't finish it. I really wish the employee had put in a little effort to help me, instead of waiting for my boyfriend and the manager to step in. He didn't bother checking on my order or leaving the front table. Got short responses from him, no real explanations. Was not willing to work things out with me. I came back the next day because my family wanted to celebrate my birthday. Service was very good. Food tasted way better than the day before. Keep in mind that they have a fairly small parking lot and the indoor waiting area is small as well. Wait time is not that bad compared to other locations. This is just my personal experience and some honest feedback. Nothing personal towards anyone. Just hope they learn from this so it doesn't ruin anyone else's experience here. read more

We really enjoy going to the iHop on First street, the meals are always cooked just perfect and everything from the service, coffee, pancakes, potatoes, eggs, sausage and sandwiches are yummy! Terrible, terrible service. The wait was a little long, which is fine given that it was a weekend. However, the overall setting was unprofessional. They mixed up on their waitlist with another customer and instead of apologizing, the manager came out and yelled at both of his employees in front of everybody. Totally demoralizing. Fast forward to the actual service which was just bad. The waitress took our coffee orders (I ordered an iced vanilla and my bf ordered regular iced) she brings us 2 vanilla and when we asked for her to correct the error she flat out says "we don't do regular iced coffee so I got you vanilla" WHAT?? You couldn't have just said that in the first place ?? Or put ice in a cup of regular coffee ? The rest from there is downhill. She never came back, went to every table except ours to check on us, BUT made sure to come back when it was time to sign the bill and leave a tip. Never coming back. read more

I don' t give 5 stars very often. But ihop deserve them this time. They are opened now. They have made a lot of needed changes. First they got rid of the divider in the middle this has opened up a lot more seating and they can accommodate larger groups. The have also got men's and women's restrooms. The women's has three stalls. Also they have moved the cash register station. They have a coffee station too. The booths ,lighting and tables look new But the parking unfortunately is just the same. Glad ihops has made these necessary upgrades. They got a new blue roof too ! read more

Of all the IHOP's I've been to, this has got to be my favorite. The service is always friendly, even at those golden hours (1:45a-3:30a) when all the tired drunks drive over to fill their bellies and sober up. The food comes out of the kitchen yummy and quick. The boysenberry sauce it bomb too! Don't deny your taste buds, try it. The tables get turned around really quick, so even if there's a line for table you won't wait to long. You also never know who you'll see at this location since it's really the only place after a club/bar to go get a decent meal. Yesterday, we saw Vernon Davis. We go here with the family at least a couple times a month. They are small and crowded, when its busy the wait is long and their parking lot and waiting area isn't sufficient. But the service is so great we always come back! They do all they can to take care of their customers and make sure they do all they can, no easy task when they serve the same number of customers as locations with 2-3xs the space!! I have to agree with the other yelpers on the most recent reviews about the waiting time. I came in almost 2 weeks ago (Sunday night before Labor Day Monday). It was still pretty hectic at 2:30am in the morning with all the party goers that were trying to get something to eat. Seems like they were short staffed. I had to wait 30 min just to be seated (usually I'd leave, but it was late & I had Ubered there & I dont know many places near by that would be open). There was also a mix up with another group that caused a bit of drama when we were about to get seated saying they were there before us, but I actually signed up to be seated before they did. After we were seated, it wasnt really that bad. We were pretty hungry so we ate all the food. If I can eat at Denny's at this hour, I can handle IHOP's food. We spent about 2 hours here when you combine the wait time to be seated, to get our food, to pay our bill, etc... read more

This IHop was a time waster and the customer service was lacking. My family and I (three people) were seated and given menus. We ordered without a hitch and received our coffee. The issue...the actual food took over 45 minutes to arrive with tables seated after us getting their food way earlier. The groups seated after us were somewhat larger too, with one group having 5 people. Our order was not anything monstrous either: two omelettes, pancakes, and two hash browns on the side. I am not the biggest IHOP fan but after this experience I may visit more often. The hostess Luz Elena expressed an attitude we would see in every other worker in the restaurant. Upbeat, smiling and fully energized. The restaurant is a smaller, older IHOP so there are fewer tables. Luckily we scored a roomy booth after a very short wait. Our meals arrived quickly, amazingly fast. My son enjoyed a Mexican inspired omelette with poblano chiles and shredded beef. It was huge and tasty. My wife enjoyed her sampler breakfast. My choice was a cheeseburger. The meat was likely from frozen and the fries were not up to par. Even so I enjoyed the burger. Two hits and a slight miss. Had the restroom been more presentable this would have been a solid 5 star experience. read more

Really disappointing when you make it your routine to call and order your lunch with time, still give them time to arrive, be charged but not be given your food because "the staff" gave it away by mistake to someone else. 1. Make sure NEVER TO PAY until You have your order and it's correct. 2. Don't tip until You have your order and it's correct. 3. You have better luck ordering and working with the men that work here. They carry themselves in a professional manner. Do not place your order if a girl answers the phone. She doesn't get it at all, you can repeat it she will still get it wrong. This location is old school. It's easy to get to but the lot is small. The restaurant is small too and any seating near the kitchen is warm. The menu is reasonable - IHOP standard. Food was delivered promptly and server was attentive - as attentive as servers at IHOP and the like are. read more

4 Stars for IHOP? I think in general IHOP is bad, overpriced food with terrible service where the only redeeming quality is that it's open 24 hours a day. However, I really feel that this IHOP exceeded my expectations on my last visit. My friends have visited here often and know the waitress by name. It's something like Velma, or Alma, or Balma, or Bulimia, or Bologna. Anyway, she has a name and she is a peach. She is so nice and friendly. She provided excellent service the last time we were here. For her sake I'd wish she'd move to a better restaurant. My friends pushed two tables together in the back to allow all 8 of us to sit together. When separating the tables after the meal one friend, danger prone Daphne, knocked over the entire syrup caddy breaking at least two flagons of syrup. Our server was sweet and said it wasn't a big deal and cleaned it up right away. In addition, I actually enjoyed my food. I had the ham and egg sandwich or something. It's the equivalent of the Moons Over My Hammy from Denny's. It was really good and served with seasoned fries. It was terrific. Overally, this little Chalet de Pancakes near Downtown SJ is probably the best IHOP I've been to. Would I willingly come here again during daylight hours? No way in hell. Always seem to be disappointed with this location. I remember it from the mid 90's when I lived in San Jose and it used to be a whole lot better. No matter how many times they renovate this place, it's still the same, stinky cathedral ceiling building with not enough space to accommodate a large crowd. I'm always waiting a good 45 minutes for a table only to get a server who doesn't like her job. Please hire someone who enjoys being a server and isn't afraid to crack a smile once in a while. So we came to this IHOP because this is where the in-laws and wife wanted to eat. So we order and received our food in about 10 minutes...speed is not always a good thing. I had ordered the 8oz N.Y. Strip, eggs, hash browns and hotcakes. My steak looked like the garbage piece you cut of a Ribeye. No kidding it looked like it had been hacked at with a butcher knife and out of the 8 ounces maybe 2 were actually meat. I've never been so pissed that this actually allowed to leave their kitchen. I had the waitress take it back to show the cook and made sure this would be taken off the bill. I didn't touch anything as I had her take it ALL back. Yeah I could've had a new steak made and eat everything else till I got a new one. But like I said I was passed and didn't want to give anyone in that kitchen an opportunity to cook for me ever again. My family still goes here but there's 2 levels of standards in my family.The ones that prefer mediocre and myself who prefers A Bite of Wyoming or even Evergreen Inn. 5 star service, 3 star food unfortunately. The service here was great when I went to eat here today at 2 in the afternoon. I tell you going to IHOP in the middle of the day during the week is the best time to go cos I have been to this location on weekends and it BEYOND packed but today there was barely a soul there, and in fact I would have to say it was overstaffed for the patrons it had there today. The restaurants was VERY clean and orderly, the bathroom was clean and NOT disgusting, and the staff was super-friendly. My Mother and I were seated promptly, our orders were taken quickly and it took about 20 minutes for our food to come out. Our waitress Dulce was " the lights on upstairs but nobody's home " type of waitress but she was sweet and capable. My Mom ordered the turkey dinner, I ordered the Cowboy BBQ Burger w/ fries. My Mom's order was better than mine cos it had more food and looked more appealing and my order wasn't exactly anything to write home about. The burger itself was " decent " but absolutely nothing to write home about, it is NOT among any of the best burgers I have ever had, not even in the top 30. It was just a burger and there was nothing special about it. The fries were decent ( at least they were crispy ) and I would have to say the highlight of my meal was my Pepsi ( which was made with Monin cola syrup, curiously, which I thought was VERY classy :) . I paid my bill and left. It was a good experience all-in-all and I had a good lunch, not the best I ever had but at least I was full and I know now next time I will definitely order pancakes from here cos that is their forte. I came here to eat with my girlfriend and everything seemed okay but the food tasted somewhat weird. We ordered the cowboy bbq and and the classic cheese burger. I finished my burger and she asked for a box to take her burger, but when we got a box. We didn't notice but the box was full of dust and it was too late so we chose to leave the burger. When we arrived, there was a ton of people waiting to be seated. After seeing that, we wanted to leave but wanted to ask how long the wait time was before leaving since we were all starving. Once we asked, we were told the waiting time was 20min. We sat down outside to wait and to our surprise, were seated within 5min, thankfully. Our server Giovanni was really good with us. He helped my father browse through the menu. It was bonus that he knew how to speak Spanish since my father struggles with his English. Wow, I've not had service at ANY restaurant lately this good. I had nothing but good things to say about this late Friday night trip in. Soon as we entered, Nelson greeted our party of two with a warm welcome and promptly seated us, giving us the menus opened while explaining the current specials. All throughout the meal our polite, well mannered, attentive waitress Etu, kept our drinks topped off and had no gripe with special requests. THE FOOD- perfect. Bacon: crispy as I requested- Just the way I like it too. Our meals came in good time, though to be fair, the restaurant wasn't super busy, only about a quarter full. Best breakfast I've had for dinner in a long time. Meals ended up coming to $21.xx for two people, although you could get away cheaper, that seems about average. read more

I usually order breakfast but this time I ordered the Sirloin Tips & Shrimp with 2 sides , I choose the Corn Muffin Stuffing (discussing) and the Potato Patties (very dry and powdery tasting). The sirloin tips were tough & chewy but still tasted okay, the shrimp was the only thing that tasted good. I should of complained and sent it back but I didn't. I'm here often usually between 5am-9am. Service here isn't great, but it's not terrible. 10/10 times I come, I'll order a water no ice and still get an iced water, so I always have to ask them to switch it out a second time. Every time I come, I order strawberry banana pancakes with no whip or bananas on top, and 9/10 times they get that wrong as well. I never complain when they get the order wrong, but it is kind of odd that they very rarely get it correct. The servers aren't very attentive to guests' modifications to food, but they do try to come check on you throughout your meal. For the price, it is what I would expect, so I continue to come back here for a quick breakfast. read more
