We went here when we couldn't get into the place i really wanted. The kids saw the sign and lobbied hard for dinner at IHop. The food was decent and since there was no crowd we were able to get seated quickly and served also. As with all these chains they make a lot of money off the drinks. I watched the "kids eat free" discount get eaten up (pardon the pun) quickly by the overpriced glass of soda. The staff seemed friendly enough although for not a busy night our server was hard to get the attention of when we needed extra napkins and more sauce. But overall they served us well. read more

By far the worst dining experience ever!! The IHOP in Lorton, 7784 Gunston Plaza was unprofessional in all aspects of hospitality!! Service was extremely poor!! We only saw our server Darwin R one time during our whole experience. Not to mention the food coming out cold and another server had to bring us our check. To add insult to injury one of our cards used for the transaction was charged twice, and the other card Mr. Darwin adjusted the tip in his favor. Once we brought it to managements attention, the manager on duty had the audacity to take the receipt out of my hand because we discovered fraudulent activity. This iHop is a well functioning location that usually has friendly staff and great food, even on the busiest of days. However, there is lots of room for improvement in customer satisfaction and some items are ridiculously expensive. Pancakes, Waffles, & Omelettes are some of the best things you can get here for your money! The experience here is largely dependent on your waiter, some are nice and accommodating while others need to be retrained on customer service. My family and I love coming to iHop for breakfast, but the food has gotten oblique over the years. By that I mean eggs, toast, coffee, & hash browns don't live up to the expected taste for the price you pay. Ridiculous that coffee is charged per CUP ($2.19) rather than per jug. Server told us hard boiled eggs can't be warm because they don't make them fresh. What? Hash browns have small portions and toast is toast. A classic place for American breakfast, but they need to reconsider portions of their menu to be more vegetarian and selective meat friendly. Food: always consistently good. Servers : Friendly 9:00AM: Ambient noise is HORRID. OMG. thumping pop music to the point you can't think. It's like being at The Gap or a mall. Why they do this I have no idea. When you walk into the lobby the music is so loud you cannot hear your dining companion speak. I am gobsmacked to hear pulsing dance music. This particular location is efficient but I notice they don't handle conflict or complaints well. This is a reflection on the manager. Most of the clientele here are over 40. For several years I have not visited an IHOP due to poor customer service, poor food quality, and poor appearance. Today, after returning home from a trip my husband wanted pancakes. I told him IHOP is the closest place to get pancakes and I am not going to IHOP. He told me to give it a try. I'm glad I did! This location changed my perspective of IHOP. We were seated promptly on a Sunday morning...surprised. Our waitress came over immediately to get our drink orders. When she returned, we placed our order. I'm picky with my eggs. I told her I do not like hard eggs. She acknowledge my request. Our orders came back accurate....my eggs were perfect! The presentation of our food was great...not expected at this type of restaurant. The food was hot and delicious. My husband and I complimented the cook and the entire staff. We go here regularly and just came from this location about 30 min ago. All and all usually a good experience, although it seems a bit dirty or run down on the inside. The food sometimes takes a hair longer then expected but usually during busy times. If you go at night, it is normally wide open and quite. I echo the previous statement of it being loud during busy times. The place is small on the inside and noises seem to carry or reverberate. The staff has always been polite and attentive. The food has always been standard with food we have had from other ihops in various locations. A basic place to eat late at night. read more

We went on a Sunday morning, which probably wasn't the best idea. The place was heaving with families. We were seated after about a 10 minute wait. Had about another 10 minutes to wait until order was taken & coffee was served. This was followed by a 25 minute wait until food arrived. However, given it was a Sunday morning I totally understand. Our waitress was friendly & helpful. The food was hot & tasted good. Big portions, I couldn't finish it all, but was offered a box if wanted. For a chain restaurant you can't complain. I usually don't enjoy iHop because the ones I've been to have been dirty and unappealing than most but i really enjoyed this one. the food was served warm and in a reasonable time. The drink I got was also delicious. we came with a party of 16 and it didn't show them down at all! This iHop definitely changed my views on them as a whole. After checking the temps and realizing it was a day to stay indoors, we decided to grab a late brunch with friends. After my experience here though, I'm sure I won't return to this restaurant. The food was okay but our service is what turned me off. Our server made it abundantly clear we were taking too long to finish our meal and we needed to hurry up! I especially loved the eye roll when she dropped the check off and we said we weren't ready to pay yet. Not even 10 minutes later she sent another server to our table to ask for our check. We had just finished signing the receipt when she sent the manager to our table to ask us to leave b/c we had been there 'too long' and there was a 'wait list' for tables. Mind you, the table next to us was open and there were a few open tables on the other side of the restaurant as well. Ironically we weren't a rowdy group- unlike the mother behind us whose children shredded their biscuits all over the floor, leaving a disaster on the carpet, the table next to us with 4 boisterous boys that knocked into their server spilling their drinks- rather we were 5 adults enjoying a meal and catching up over coffee. This was obviously not the place to go if one wants to spend time having breakfast with friends. I'll be taking my business elsewhere next time. read more

Came in for breakfast at around 9am and we were promptly seated. There were only about five other parties there and the same amount of waiters. Our waiter came 10 minutes later for our drink order and didn't show up again for another 15 minutes with them! She then proceeded to take our orders. When I started she didn't have her book open or anything so I figured she was one of those memorizing types but as soon as my boyfriend starts reading his, she flips open her book and then asks me for my order again! WTH? About five minutes after she left we ran out of coffee (I guess the pot wasn't that full since we only had two cups?) we waited about ten minutes for her and then flagged down another waiter. Our food came about thirty minutes after ordering. By then we were so HANGRY and to top it off she got BOTH of the orders wrong. We told her and she said "oh okay" picked up the plates and left again. ANOTHER waitress came by to ask if we wanted more coffee or tea. She came back 15 minutes later with the food and we asked for to go boxes. Her attitude changed immediately and she was suddenly concerned. We told her service of horrible and we would like our check and to go boxes. She came back with the boxes 10 minutes(!) later apologized and tried to wait there for a tip. Are you kidding me? I gave her 00.06 cents just to even out the check. I had also asked for Tabasco when the food first arrived, she didn't bring it until she brought out to go boxes twenty minutes later. The Reason IHOP gets 2 stars from me is that the servers mostly don't properly introduce themselves and never give the guest the satisfaction of knowing what they have for specials. Another thing is the servers never come back to ask if the food is good or not and when the customer asks for an extra item like sour cream you might as well kiss it goodbye because it will never come, and asking for HOT MAPLE SYRUP is like pulling teeth and takes ten times to ask before it comes, and when it comes it is in an open saucer for everyone to sneeze in. Last thing when a customer orders a hot drink like coffee or tea make sure you say a glass of water for they will never bring it. read more

Its ihop! Decent parking lot. But overcrowded on weekends. I generally go during the week. We always get promptly seated. They have an awesome breakfast special on weekdays until 11 am. You get 2 eggs any style, a choice of meats, hash browns and 2 pancakes for 5.99. Makes breakfast so easy especially when I don't feel like cooking. Im rating 2 stars: reasons why: 1-This was not the best ihop- and I am always an ihop fan. 2- Its a very small location, parking wasnt good on the weekend. 3-We had to wait a long time for a table. 4- The menus given to us were dirty (with food and sticky syrup- we had to ask them for clean menus after our fingers and hands were all sticky- yuck) 5- we felt hurried and rushed to pay and leave as fast as they could throw us out so they could move their line- who wants to wait so long? and I think its rude to make customers feel like they should eat and run out as fast as they can. We've been to many IHOP restaurants in the past. We tend to view the restaurants based upon their customer service. This time however, I have to give a little more detail. We went in around 10:30 for a late breakfast, the parking lot was full, typically a good sign. Let the wife out to get our name on the list. Took a very tight turn around the very small parking lot and found a parking spot on the second go-around. Noticed a lot of people waiting outside but after a few minutes of waiting outside for the name to be called or the wife to come out, went inside and found her sitting on the waiting bench, expected 15 minute wait. Roughly 20 minutes later, we were seated. Waitress came to our table almost immediately, had to ask for a summer specials menu. Waitress took our drink order and came back with our drinks and one summer specials menu about 10 minutes later. Asked if we were ready to order. Asked for a minute to look over the menu. She came back about 5 minutes later. Ordered a couple of combo specials with specific directions on the sides. I asked for scrambled eggs minus the runny eggs. Wife asked for no hash browns. Couple was seated next to us 10 minutes after we were seated and were served faster than we were, they were served and out the door before our food even arrived. Food was finally delivered and was small. The eggs were still a little runny and the wife's hash browns with cheese on top were still delivered, after she had ordered without the hash browns and with cheese on the scrambled eggs. Waitress attempted to argue the point and took the plate in a huff. A single stuffed French Toast is very small and the stuffing was not much in quality or quantity. Final bill was $27.06. Left zero tip for the lousy service. Was going to write a message explaining the zero tip but had a second thought and just signed the slip making sure the zero tip was evident. read more

Was searching for burgers and ihop came up. Totally forgot they had added more burgers to their menu. Decided to give it a shot....WOW...it was actually really good. I wouldn't have thought of eating a burger at ihop if it wasn't for Yelp. The service was also really good. I came with my father and wife. We got sat right away and got our drinks minutes after. Highly recommended trying the burgers, they are SO much better than Boardwalk Fries burgers. read more

The food was alright but if you need napkins, straws, or anything from a waitress don't expect it to come. They are nice but it's so hard to get their attention, let alone find them. Once, the waitress gave me my meal and asked if I needed anything else. I said I needed some napkins, but I didn't receive the napkins until after I finished my meal and asked a second time. We've eaten at this IHOP at least twenty times and it has a few areas that could be improved, but overall it's pretty good. I usually remind them to cook my hash browns crispy and to actually toast my toast. This usually ensures that my food comes out just right. Beyond that, the coffee is always fresh and we've never waited longer than ten minutes on the busiest of Saturday mornings. For the price and availability, I'm more than satisfied. read more

My family likes to eat here at non-breakfast time. It's not busy on weeknights. Service is at its best then. Sometimes our kids get to eat for free from the kids menu. The kitchen will make me a burger even when we dine at brunch time. The bill can get quite high after ordering the special drinks. But the refill is free. We always have nice dinner here. IHOP is the same no matter where you go. Good for a quick hangover breakfast, but their pancake sizes have declined in size. Womp womp!
