IHop came out with a new thick and fluffy French Toast menu, and it had my name written all over it. They no longer use regular bread, and have replaced it with artisan bread dip in a vanilla cinnamon batter. There are several toppings you could have on it. I chose the Strawberry Banana, glazed strawberries, fresh bananas, powdered sugar and whip cream. My wife chose the Gingersnap Apple that consisted of sliced cinnamon apples, gingersnap cookie crumbles, red currants, and powdered sugar. This came with the apples, and red currant on the side so you can mix how sweet and tart you want it. Cinnamon apples, and red currant paired perfectly. These new breakfast entrées are absolutely delicious. As always service was excellent and the restaurant is extremely clean. I also like that they give you a craft of coffee instead of needing to keep coming back for refills.

"I'll have my eggs sunny side up, like your personality!" , I thought as the salty, curt server took our orders! We were a party of 8, and felt like we were in the army... she took our orders like... "what will you have? And you... and you ... " very stiff and regimented. Hey... don't smile... it'll ruin your tough mystique. She did have a good memory though, she got our orders out without a hitch! "Everything good... " glance and walk away... mmmkay... I'm not a fan of chains, especially breakfast spots... this was typically crowded... loud, and dated. But it was pretty clean! The menu is mainly a carb inducing overload of starchy pancakes, French toast and waffles...and yes..: you can have them smothered in just about anything you can imagine!Even rainbow sprinkles and cupcake icing... now, if that won't make you lose your lunch... I don't know what will. And don't worry, they have lots of syrups to choose from if you need an extra sugar boost! They do offer some healthy options like avocado toast on multigrain bread, that looked pretty good! No oatmeal here, nor a selection of teas, but the coffee is decent. The 55+ menu is PLUS, and a kids menu is available! Won't be hopping back here anytime soon...

On 11/28/2021, we stopped off at IHOP for a late brunch when coming back to NJ. We entered the restaurant. The hostess greeted us through a plastic opening. She opened a large protective plastic door to let us enter. We were escorted to the table. The server immediately came over with menus. She wore a mask. We were asked if we would like anything to drink. A few minutes later she came back with water and tea. She took our orders. I had two gluten-free pancakes. They were very good. Of course, I had to put butter and little maple syrup on them. Gluten free pancakes were about a dollar extra. My friend enjoyed the Strawberry and Bananas French Toast. The restaurant was very clean. Very good customer service too! I was truly impressed the way IHOP covers all Covid protocol. At this location, my entire experience was very good!

Our waitress was friendly and our food came out very quickly! My chocolate chip pancakes were excellent as always! The big steak omelette is very large so most of it came home with me. My husband enjoyed his 2x2x2. We will definitely be back again!

I never thought I would feel so positively about a place like IHOP, but here I am. This is my second time around the holidays in 2 years coming to IHOP and the second time in 2 years I've left feeling full, happy, and full of pancakes I actually really enjoyed. I came here in the afternoon with 4 other friends and we were seated right away. The waiter we had was extremely friendly and quick to take orders and provide drinks. Since it was the holidays I was only left with one option as far as the pancakes go and that was THE GRINCH pancakes....yup, they have pancakes themed after the The Grinch who stole Christmas! I honestly don't even think I know what flavour they were or anything like that, but what I do know is that those green grinchy pancakes were full of flavour (I'm still not sure what it was, but man did it taste dang good), it had some whip cream on top, and when the syrup got added, BAM! I had some super tasty pancakes that did my body good. Overall, IHOP is a great place to get pancakes and even though I can't speak for anything else on the menu, I think you should come here for some pancakes. The end.

There weren't too many people there, but it made for a lowkey dinner. The food arrived quickly, and everything we had was actually much better than we were expecting. Cool concept with all of the books lining the dining room, and we appreciated that you could take 3 for free. Also walked around the book cellar too. There weren't really any titles that grabbed us though. My main critique is that it was pretty dusty... we looked at one of the lights and the cobwebs on it made it look like a Halloween decoration. Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.
