I dont know why, but I LOVE EGGS. I could eat breakfast every meal of the day, its a shame that the universe expects us to (for the most part) avoid this fare for most of the day. IHOPS are nothing new....they are everywhere. The GRAND SLAM breakfast is the perfect food for anytime of the day (or night). Lord knows I've sought out IHOPS in the past as the perfect place to cure the after drinking munchies. This particular location is fairly new (less than a year old) and I have only eaten here twice. Now, I can handle lots of food, but my body knows its limitations. But for some reason, the 2 times I have eaten here I have wound up sick and spending alot of quality time on the porcelian throne. Both times I got the Grand Slam with coffee. Both times were only a few weeks apart and at night. But both times I was regretting it for the rest of the night and part of the next day. My GF had no issues and Im sure many many other people were fine as well, but this has to be a sign for me with this location to either get a burger or try another location. The atmosphere was horrible the first time we went. A large group of teenagers showed up and decided to take over the place with their loud talking and rude behavior. We moved to another table for some peace and watch the poor manager who clearly knew the score try to keep these delinquents in line. He apologized to us as we paid the bill. The second time the place was quiet and relaxed. Someday I will return...hopefully I wont regret it.... read more

This is relatively new location next to BJ's on RT 5 in Wallingford. The waitstaff is definitely experienced and knows how to treat kids. They always have some new creation that they may push on you but it's usually decadent and awesome. It gets busy so come early to avoid the lines. Coffee is pretty good too and they leave the pot with you at the table which is nice. read more

IHOP in its day was awesome....good food, reasonable prices, fast service. Apparently, no more. I've had more than a few bad experiences at IHOP over the past few years, but this was the worst. The staff is very disorganized, had to wait a significant amount of time just to ask for a table, and then we were not allowed to wait using the lobby seats...reason? Covid...but wait, this is October 2022....even the White House has declared the pandemic is over...we have had both shots and two boosters...get with it IHOP! Anyway, we were told to wait in the car and we would be called...we waited 15 minutes, no call, and then drove down the road to the Colony Diner and was seated immediately...never going to any IHOP again...done...hey corporate, youre going out of business just like Howatd Johnsons and soon Denny's...good move guys! Oh, and this IHOP location gave us pause beforehand due to the unclean environment and seedy people there...not good overall...avoid at all costs in my opinion... read more

I went to Wallingford IHOP Saturday Feb 1st @ 6:15p.m. About seven tables were occupied. No wait. Was seated. It took several minutes to see a waitress who took my drink order. My friend showed up and ordered a water. After about fifteen minutes! my friend was getting upset with the wait. The manager/hostess came by and asked if we were ready to place our order, to which we said Yes! 20 minutes later we left money for my cup of coffee and walked out. Went to Colony Diner and had good food and good service. Unbelievable. The worst experience at IHOP ever. That's why the parking lot is empty all the time. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon around 2:00 PM. I was not expecting much. The décor was very old and old dated. But man was I surprised. I ordered a corned beef hash with hash browns and two easy over hard and it had some kind of hollandaise sauce. The corned beef was amazing and not that smashed corn beef hash out of a can. It was out of this world. I was very happy. I am more concerned about how good the food and service is than the décor. Everything here is well priced but I don't understand why a quality minded establishment would allow seats to be repaired with duct tape and black electrical tape. It just looks so low class and makes you feel really uncomfortable to sit on the seats with nice clothes. Walked in and was seated in less than 30 seconds a little after 9am on a Tuesday. Waitstaff was friendly, courteous and attentive. Ordered a specialty omelette and pancakes with a glass of orange juice. It's IHOP I just wanted my food. They exceeded my expectations. Amber was a lovely server. She was attentive and friendly. The food was decent - the eggnog pancakes were yummy! However, the issue comes with the manager on duty when we went to pay the check. On the table when we arrived was a table tent stating "Kids Eat Free" neatly facing out towards the aisle. My husband and I ordered with the assumption that our son's food was going to be free. When the bill came, I noticed it was not discounted. I went to pay and the manager on duty was there. I mentioned the concern about "Kids Eat Free" and was told pointedly the promotion ended on Sunday - no apology and empathy. He blamed corporate and made excuses. I had what became a rather frustrating conversation about how it wasn't his fault that the table tents were still falsely advertising an expired promotion over 36 hours after it ended. The manager blamed the marketing, corporate and everyone else on this issue. He even wouldn't take ownership on fixing this problem, instead he offered to text the owner over a $5.00 issue. There was no accountability or understanding of my concerns. My husband and I ordered meals at a higher price point with the idea that "Kids Eat Free". There is an expectation to the consumer that all marketing is up to date. If not, one would own this issue. I am highly disappointed in how the manager was very dismissive of my issue and the lack of concern to fix it. read more

I wish that I had some better feedback. We walked in at 11am expecting it to be empty. Instead, there was a 10 minute wait. Looking around the dining room, there are 6 empty tables that are clean and ready for use. The manager was at the front desk happily taking more and more names. We grabbed some menus and figured out what we wanted to eat. Ten minutes later, like clockwork we were seated and immediately placed our order. At the 55 minute mark, I called over the happy manager and asked her to engage. The food showed up at the 60 minute mark. No apologies. No followup visit by the manager. Wow, we went here because the place we really wanted to go closes early on Sunday. Who would have guessed that you'd get a great breakfast at an IHOP? I'm glad the other place closed. Veggie Omelette was a little pricey, maybe because it's so big, excellent to the taste and the service could not have been better. Coffee was freshly brewed, not stale and old and a great waitress kept our creamer bowl full. I can't believe that I would be giving an IHOP a great review, but here it is. Normally I love iHop. Today I witnessed something deplorable. I went with my family and a Spanish couple who was here before us never got served. The manager made excuses for what was taking so long. We got our food and they still had not been served. My ethnicity is Puerto Rican but I don't look it. I really think that was discriminatory and he didn't care the clients were upset. I am a manager not in food but it's still customer service. I'd fire any of my employees for treating someone the way I saw. Went today(wed) for breakfast. It wasn't busy at all. A new manager was following our waitress around. She, the waitress, was pretty, sweet and friendly. She came back with sodas even before we had to ask. The food was ok. I like their eggs,sausage,bacon,pancakes,waffles. I had the biscuts and gravy. The biscuts were kinda small, but the gravy was good. It came out quickly and tasted good. So we were happy. read more

I went to IHOP in Wallingford, CT and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding and it was nice to see the servers working together. It was also a pleasant surprise to see the Manager present on the floor to make sure we liked our food. I have been to the Manchester and Bloomfield IHOP and Wallingford is hands down superior to all the rest. The menu's were clean and the syrup and salt and pepper shakers were all uniform on the tables. Best IHOP in CT and other restaurants should strive to work toward this model. read more

This Ihop location is pretty good. I have been here several times at all hours of the day, and the service is always consistent. They one time had a girl in training take our order, and even she did a great job. The only gripe I had was the last time I was here, I ordered a special "new" breakfast that included sausage. The sausage was SO SALTY that I had to ask for water to flush it all down. I flagged the manager down to let her know, not to complain but to bring it to their attention. Went here with my cousin a couple of months ago around 7pm, and it became clear to me the onlyyy thing you should go to IHOP for is the pancakes. My chocolate chip pancakes were good, but we ordered iced coffees and they were awful. My cousins chicken tenders and fries were extremely dried out and looked/tasted as if they were sitting under a heating lamp for hours. Waitress was dull and tired, not very attentive. Went there for dinner last night with my husband and son. We were seated within a few minutes and almost instantly greeted by our server. While my husband and I weren't ready to order,I asked if we could place my sons order which we did. Our drinks came out quickly and why we waited a little longer than expected to order our food,when the server returned she already had our sons meal. My husband and I then placed our orders which also came out rather quickly. The waitress was pleasant and attentitive. We were pleased to find out they had a special running that kids ate free also. Got seated in the worst seat in the house, got ignored for half an hour straight, waitresses constantly making snarky comments thinking we can't hear her as she walks into the kitchen. A table across from us sent back her plate 5 times because they couldn't make non runny eggs. Nasty old lemon in my water. No plain syrup on the table...when we asked to get some they didn't have a properly labeled container for it. Ordered bacon received sausage. Didn't get my whole order at first. I really, really wish I could give a better rating to IHOP... they usually seem to do semi-well, but my last visit (yesterday) was quite a disappointment. The food came out burnt and the eggs tasted funny, reminiscent of the smell of petroleum. I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, but the manager came over and put me in an awkward position by asking me what he could do to earn my repeat business. I don't want to be the "let's-see-if-I-can-get-a-free-meal" guy, but he was good enough to take my wife's meal off the bill. My answer was more to the point: get on the kitchen staff and raise the standards of quality back to where they should be. His answer was that his head chefs (they have more than one?) were out for the day. My answer to that is if I'm paying for the quality that the head chefs deliver, then I should receive that quality. Perhaps if they offered an across-the-board discount on days the head chefs are out, I'd be a bit more forgiving and likely would avoid those days, anyway. The waitress was friendly, professional and attentive. Unfortunately, she was probably afraid to hand the food back without having us send it back for fear of reprisal. This does not mean I will never eat there again, but I'll be wary of what I order. I accept some measure of responsibility for my experience. The lack of customers during Sunday dinner service and the speed in which I received my order should've indicated to me that I was not in for the best of times here.
