I had been craving my ultimate favorite from IHOP blueberry pancakes! I hadn't been here since quarantine so I was very excited because of the lonnng day I had, and I hadn't had any breakfast. I placed a pick up order at around 2:30pm and it was very dead so I was excited I would get my order within 10 minutes. The lady at cashier had great customer service. She was very friendly and very nice. However, my pancakes were definitely made differently! I been coming here for years and I get the same thing every time! These pancakes were definitely made with different flour. They were very airy and the consistency just wasn't the same. They kept falling apart as I was cutting them, and not in a good way!! Also, it was a to go order and they decided to put the blueberry compote all over my pancakes! Which they've never have, is always put on the side to avoid the pancakes from getting soggy! I'm beyond disappointed since I have not been here in a long time and I had been dying to place an order, also is more disappointing that they weren't busy at all so there's no excuse! read more

The meal itself was quite delicious, however, the waitress was not the sharpest tool in the shed. The water cups were not filled as often as I would like and she was quite demanding. While dining at this eatery, some family was having a birthday party with a plethora of noisy children and that was quite unpleasant. It made the atmosphere crowded and very uninviting. On this one the food cannot quite make up for all of the ambient noise and the lousy service. To add on, there was also trash at the table prior to the time in which we sat down. All I got to say every time I entered, I'm greeted with a friendly smile. The servers are super nice, manager very polite. My order is always on time when I'm on my lunch hour from work. Our waitress, at about her mid-40s, was easily the youngest of the waitresses. We were the young whippersnappers at the place! The service took way too long, but the food was decent. Nothing exciting. I got the new iced coffee-too sweet for my taste, but with refills, it wasnt too bad. The Bacon Omelet (something named like that) was good with the Egg Beaters, which they offer at no extra charge. Prices are reasonable here. There are a lot of options to choose from on the menu. When we drove up at around 11:30 on a Sunday morning there were about 40 people waiting and I almost died!!! BUT (this is why they get three stars and not two) they got people in and out so fast, we waited less than 20 minutes. Now let's talk about the food... I got the breakfast sampler. I asked for no ham and extra bacon or sausage. They replaced my two slices of ham with one small sausage :-/ ok but whatever. My pancakes came out cold when we finally flagged down the server ( not his fault he was swamped) he was super apologetic and brought out new pancakes super quick ( so quick in fact that I'm going to tell you they are not made to order but sitting in a warming tray somewhere for sure). I asked for my toast not to be buttered three times and it sure enough had butter all over it. With everything being said and done.... It was ok. Nothing to call home about. The biggest plus here is that it looks clean. Which reading the other reviews I was really surprised. My glass, and silver wear everything on the table, spotless. Anyways also side note. This is easily one of my more favorite IHOP's around. Food is always on point and is always filling. Location is perfect as it is in the shopping center on fallbrook and vanowen next to red lobster. It truly is a great place whether you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner. One thing that truly stands out about this place is the 24 hours.. meaning they are always open ! Here are a few flaws though - it can get busy.. I mean really busy especially on the weekends. - sometimes the food can take a bit to come out but it's always extremely good. Today I went out to have a celebration breakfast, I choose IHOP because I wanted to eat something new because I always go to Denny's. So, little did I knew it was the worst mistake of my life! Everyone that was waiting in line was noticeably upset with customer service, one girl was taking orders and sitting people and answering phone calls and you can tell by her face she miserable. Stopped by here when they had their 56th anniversary and were offering their short stack of pancakes for 56 cents. (WOOHOO!!!) Hubby and I got there about 30 minutes before the promo was to end and there were quite a few people ahead of us. Upon inquiring if we'd make the cutoff for the pancake special, the hostess said they'd be seating everyone who was already there. The wait was no more than 15 minutes and our hostess and servers were really nice, calm and professional, even though I'm sure they had to deal with annoying folks trying to score an almost free meal all day and probably tipping poorly. Came here with my mother, husband, and kids. I got the holiday special pumpkin cheesecake pancakes with ham steak, eggs and hashbrowns. My kids each got the kids chicken fingers and waffles and my husband got the turkey dinner. Everything was okay, my husband said the turkey dinner was mediocre but what do you expect from an IHOP. When I leave IHOP I leave full. They are not expansive and they make large portions. I like to eat at generous places. And for the type of food you will get here it should come in large portions. The Online service is horrible. We ordered our food at 9 am. They said it was going to take an hour to be ready. We get to the restaurant at 10am, and they tell us that we have to wait another hour and that they stopped receiving online orders without telling us. They had the nerve to still charge the card but didn't have the decency to tell me that everything was cancelled. Even after they gave us the food, it was incomplete. I will start with the positive first! Everyone who works there (well almost everyone) is super friendly and attentive. The not good....there is no City, County or State mask or gloves requirement, but EVERY server is handling food, drinks, cash and credit cards with sweaty and disgusting latex or vinyl gloves. The staff is also wearing ridiculous masks, when again there is no City, County or State requirement. We asked two servers today, and they told us they are forced. There are SEVERAL other restaurants and eateries in the same shopping center, and not a single server, host or busboy/girl are wearing gross gloves and masks. We are going on THREE years of this nonsense. When will reality return? When will common sense return. We refuse to be served and waited on by employees forced to wear filthy gloves and useless masks. They are being treated like enslaved, 2nd class citizens. This is not fair to them, and awful for customers to look at a sea of not required masked faces and have our food brought to us in sweaty gloves. Gloved hands are still touching the same things as bare hands, and bare hands can quickly apply Purell. Enough of this insanity. Went on a Sunday Morning at 9:00, Surprised at the short wait for two at under five min. A server was there fast to ask if we need drinks. We both ordered Chocolate Milk. My 12yo was upset when they brought her a Kid's cup, You know because she thinks a 12yo is an adult. Thanks server! After a little wait we placed our order, Country fried steak. After a long wait for our food we were devastated to find out the Boysenberry syrup had been discontinued at this location? Do you not know this IS the only reason i go to IHOP ?. Well the pancakes were dry anyway. We used to get the bill before our table was cleared. I loved that and then we could pay the bill at the front counter and get out quickly. NOPE, After waiting for our bill i was turned back to our table to pay the bill with our server. After another wait again and again, We were able to leave and plan our next Father Daughter breakfast at a different restaurant. Came for breakfast with the Family on Sunday Morning and lets just say it was not their proudest moment. Normally its pretty good but something was not right when I was able to take the top of the Pancake completely off the lower part, Never seen that before. Also The Iced Tea was off and they apparently Do Not Know know to properly make a Poached Egg that doesn't have a overly Runny Yoke and with ALOT of Uncooked Whites on the Egg itself. Worst Service and Food ever. Overpriced Piece of Garbage with corresponding customer service. Ordered 2 Breakfast combos to go and was told I had everything. Asked for condiments and I'm told it's in the bag. Got home and checked and I got the pancakes in one container, eggs and hash browns in another and MISSING the country fried steak but did have the other order sirloin tips included. Of coursed I was pissed after quite a drive and looking forward to eating with my son. Drove all the way back and told cashier/customer service that I'm missing the main dish. She keeps insisting it's in there and she checked herself. Made me doubt myself as she says the country fried steak is underneath the eggs and hash browns. IF it was, then it would have been an awfully small steak. I was afraid she was going to make me drive back home again as I left my order at home as I was preparing the layout/spread. Called son but he had phone on mute and took a while to get him on the phone as he was playing online with headphones on. Had him take a picture to send to me as proof. After 10 mins, cashier comes waltzing back in with what looks like my forgotten order and didnt even need my proof and hands me over my order. By the time I get back home, everything was cold with the eggs and hashbrowns just soggy and greasy. Country fried steak that I brought back was the only thing luke warm and edible, everything else was greasy and congealing. Of course, I only got butter and syrup, no catsup or salt & pepper as I asked for. Only thing they have going is it's 24 hours ... but so are a few other places. Every time I'm here with my family, we always have the best service, so I don't know why this location would have 3-star rating; must be difficult customers. The manager is always kind, polite, friendly and accommodating to our requests. If there is ever an issue, the manager is on it and determined to resolve any problems. The servers are always kind, friendly and attentive, as well. For the many times that we have dined here, we have never had a bad and poor experience. Considering the expectations, this IHOP is worth 4 stars. The expectations are, well, that if you're eating here, you're not particularly concerned about eating a healthy breakfast full of fiber and vitamins. Let's just say that you shouldn't go to IHOP and expect gourmet cuisine. It's nearly impossible to expect that of a chain restaurant in general. It's even more impossible to expect that of a chain whose name has the word 'Pancakes' in it. That said, we had a good comfort food breakfast here yesterday morning. I ordered the pancake combo with 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and 2 chocolate chip pancakes. My wife had the country waffle breakfast with 2 pancakes. Both breakfast meals were monstrosities... I ate my eggs and about half my pancakes. I didn't even touch the bacon or hash brown. My wife ate about half of her steak and one pancake, and she left the eggs and hash brown. No matter, it was tasty, it was comforting, and it went down easy. The service was friendly despite how busy they were. The only serious gripe is the fact that their coffee was, in fact, hot brown water. read more
