I had the distinct pleasure of eating breakfast at iJava today. First of all, they updated their look 3 months ago, and the place is beautiful. All I wanted was to have someone take care of me for a while, while I worked on lesson plans for my upcoming very busy and demanding week as a teacher. All week long, I'm the one taking care of everybody else. I guess I need a little "self care" to fortify me for the week ahead. Enter iJava with Chef Sergio at the helm. I had a simple request: poached egg, medium well, not runny, and not light yellow. This served as part of iJava's delightful Beef Bacon Benedict. Chef Sergio delivered with literally the BEST poached egg i have ever had in a restaurant. I asked who was the creator of this delectable delight, and learned that it was Chef Sergio. I'm told he previously worked at the Left Bank. And credit where credit is due, the staff was friendly, warm, and attentive. And they heard my request and delivered it to Sergio so he could make my breakfast dreams come true. Thank you, Sergio and thank you to everyone at iJava for a wonderful start to my day. read more

I've been coming here for the past two years, and I was quite disappointed with today's experience. While I noticed that prices have increased (my egg scramble went from $16 to $20), that wasn't the main issue. The service today felt disorganized. It was unclear how customers were being seated and served, and it didn't seem like there was a clear system in place. During my meal, I never received my toast, which is meant to be eaten with the dish, until I had to ask twice, halfway through eating. Additionally, it took a long time to receive my check. I eventually went to the front to pay, only to be told I needed to wait because another table had not yet received their meal. Totally blown away by the flavors this place offers for breakfast. We ordered All meat omelette, panini sandwich , turkey croissant sandwich, pancakes with Nutella & berries, mocha & Kashmiri chai. All meat omelette was the star dish of the visit- served with hash browns & toast of ur choice. It was a best decision to order it. Croissant sandwich was a wiser choice with turkey slice in the middle it gave a really mild & subtle taste to your buds. Really liked the pancakes, they were soft and fluffy. Panini sandwich wasn't a favorite though but I would like to try it without some veges next time to see if that work. Drinks however can be improved. My mocha was not properly mixed and there was all chocolate laid in the bottom. Plus I would like my mocha to be a little less sweet. Kashmiri chai was average too. Overall the food experience was great. The staff however can be improved wrt catering the customers a bit more promptly. They have halal food so that's a plus for those who do halal stuff. If I were rating this for staff and ambiance this place would be 5 stars. The staff is friendly and attentive and the restaurant itself spacious and very clean. Rating the food, on just the burger, is quite a bit lower. The burger patties and bacon were both VERY dry. The bacon was much more like jerky. and the patties were so tough they tasted reheated. The burgers at Five Guys are significantly better. The fries were really well done and crispy! The best part of the plate. Their other dishes look promising, so if I come back I would definitely order something else. read more

My daughter and I usually frequent the Delmas location. We decided to visit the Almaden location which is in the old pancake house building next to cinelux. Thankfully have my favourite strawberry Matcha and when we asked about the BLT, they said they didn't have it on the menu however, the Chef agreed to make it for us. If there's 10 stars available they would get all 10. I Java pairs the BLT sandwich with a side of tomato soup which is delicious. All of the other food looks good too, but I haven't had anything else cause I stick to what I like! read more

I agree that a better check in system would go a long way to improve things, however we were treated in order and got a spot. The Date/Banana Smoothie/ Shake is very tasty, although it is made with real dates and could contain unexpected fiber. Ijava has been my group's go to place for 4 years in a row! We are all retired educators from the same school district and we always schedule breakfast on the first day of school. Every year Jim has provided a buffet of breakfast sandwiches and burritos, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee and iced tea for a very reasonable price! COffee is always served with a smile too! My group of 20-30 always enjoys the food and the company on their covered patio. We will return again!!! read more

We ordered the Chicken Katsu Burrito and the Beef Brisket Burrito. While we already knew the Chicken Katsu Burrito would be amazing, I wasn't prepared at how phenomenal the Beef Brisket Burrito would be! Omg it was on another level of pure satisfaction. OMG. If I could come here for brunch everyday, I would be here every, single, day. iJava has quickly become a personal favorite when I'm in the area with my friends. The service here is incredible, staff is super attentive, friendly and quick. I found myself chatting with the staff about coffee and lattes more than chatting with my friends at some points. You can tell they really respect the craft and enjoy what they do. Plenty of tables available indoor and outdoor. Restaurant layout is beautiful, lots of large windows for natural sunlight and decor that matches the vibe of the place. For brunch, I had the Chorizo Omelette and the Matcha Tea Latte. The latte came out first, I ordered it hot and it was presently so beautifully. The perfect amount of earthy flavors and the oat milk was fantastic with it. The Chorizo Omelette had my mouth salivating. I thought it smelled good but it tasted even better. Chorizo was spicy but not overpowering. All the veggies and toppings blended in the omelette very well. It was a popular choice and I can see why customers love it! The place is open all day now and so we had to try the dinner menu! I've been here a couple of times but only for the breakfast items, so I'm excited about what they have to offer! Roast Half Chicken(8/10): The chicken was huge and very delicious! I will say it was a little dry, but the sauce made up for it! The sauce was sour and salty because of the capers and I thought the flavors were nicely balanced. The vegetables were good, but nothing to rave over. The rice was good as well, but I felt like it needed a little salt. Service(10/10): Our server was very nice, friendly, and helpful! I've been to this spot a few times and enjoyed my meals each time. This particular instance we were greeted and sat right away as the restaurant wasn't too busy. The restaurant doesn't get too noisy and there's plenty of space between tables. We both ordered the turkey and egg and cheese sandwich with avocado. I got the iced pistachio latte and my friend ordered a matcha latte. The sandwich is a great portion and adding the avocado was a great touch. I must say, it was a little messy and slightly greasy. It wasn't bad but if you are trying to remain clean while eating, be careful. Met up with friends (10 people in total) since they were home for the holidays for brunch and I've wanted to try this spot for a while. Pros- the servers were super friendly. Everyone we interacted with was quite nice. The restaurant is a decent size when considering both inside and outside seating... we were given a table pretty quickly and given the size of our party, that was great! The menu is extensive, there's a lot to choose from in regard to breakfast and lunch options. Their house made wheat bread was good, the creamy butter was even better! Cons- the food was ok. Nothing wowed me, outside of the creamy butter (no joke- that was some tasty butter!) I ordered the CA omelette and added in additional vegetables, the vegetables were fresh, which was really nice, but the egg portion was on the dry side, slightly overcooked. One friend ordered gluten free bread with her breakfast, and even though we mentioned it was missing twice, it never appeared. I did enjoy the wheat bread though... and of course, the butter! The meat selection for breakfast sides were also limited. I didn't know this place was halal before going, so was curious why it served beef bacon as opposed to pork bacon. Also all their sausage options had Jalapeño in them, which since I can't eat spicy, was limiting for me. One friend ordered the steak, it didn't have the nice sear you'd expect from a well cooked steak. At least, while we passed it down the table, I didn't see a sear. This is a cute cafe with a lot of natural light due to all the windows. When we arrived, we were greeted pleasantly by the host and were seated comfortably towards the rear of the restaurant. The menu had quite a few fresh juice drinks and shakes as well as specialty coffee. I enjoyed a coconut latte with flakes of coconut. The service from the server and kitchen was very slow but I attributed it to being because it was Thanksgiving. But, with this said, it still bugged me that our table wasn't pre-bussed at all and our dishes were there the entire time. The food was average. I had the eggs Benedict (not pictured). The description had the meat for the Benedict as "beef bacon" but there wasn't any bacon on the Benedict. Instead, it was mixed in with the house potatoes which I didn't care for. My kids enjoyed the French toast and pancakes and the panini was on the oily side. I had high hopes for this place, but today's experience was a little sad. I'd be willing to come back again and try other items in the hopes it can meet my expectations (hence the three stars instead of two). read more

We came here pretty late just looked up "cafes open late" in the area and this came up. And this place is like a Unicorn! Parking lot was pretty busy but spacious we found parking easily. Now the surprise really hit us when we walked inside and they serve full blown seafood boil and Jamaican food! I had the strawberry lemonade which was so delicious not too sweet and not too sour with real strawberry chunks! My friend got the tropical breeze which was gingery and refreshing! The jerk chicken plate which had 4 huge pieces of juicy chicken for $16.50?! This is $45 anywhere else EASY. We were seated by very nice staff. Joanalisa was happy and friendly and told us about the menu, answered all questions and explained that this place is actually rebranding to be ijava food market so have other restaurants in business. Joanalisa took her time to explain the 18 hour brisket from Texas, Michelin Jamaican chef if I remembered correctly. She told us so many amazing things about this place it was hard to remember! She actually even raved about the coffee itself saying it's high quality from Colombia and other places and she made a latte to show it doesn't need any sugar. Inside was clean and spacious with outdoor seating as well. I don't see an abundance of outlets so come with your laptop charged! I love that they close at 10pm. Omgoodness I cannot believe the way I was treated/talked to! If I could give negative stars I would. Today I ordered 4 pistachio lates which they did not have breve and so I had to take on the uncharge of the almond and coconut milk that was substituted instead. On my way to pick up my order I realize that I want a fruit cup instead of a salad for 1 of my brisket burritos (i ordered 2). Upon arrival I stated I wanted a fruit cup instead. The very rude lady opens my bag grabs a cup out and walks away. I than chose to look in the bag to check my order and see that the salad is already mixed w dressing . I ask for another salad without dressing and she comes back and says that it would be an upcharge because now that its the 2nd item they're replacing and "its wasteful".I than asked for a another fruitcup instead and I was lectured to "next time order it correctly the first time".I couldn't believe that I was being met w the restaurants shortcomings instead of walking out a satisfied customer. Everything was delicious and very filling. With the scramble I got their wheat toast, which is made in house, tasted great but wasn't anything special in my opinion. The brisket is delicious, super tender and full of flavor. The french toast is also great, nice and fluffy with a sweet cream inside. I decided to bring my daughter here for brunch because I have fond memories of this place from when it first opened years and years ago at a different location close by. It was much smaller then, but food was great and the owner/server was very friendly. I was surprised to find that it had moved to where it is now and this place is so much bigger! Excellent! Unfortunately, however, this is where good experience ends. To start, no server gives us any attention and we wait forever to order. It took so long and the restaurant was almost empty. I couldn't understand. Anyway, the food was served rather speedily, which I liked, but we still don't have water or the drinks we had ordered so I ask our server about them and she says the "drink lady" has orders lined up. Huh? There are only like 5 occupied tables and I ordered black coffee. Ok... I just ask for water and wait patiently. Here's where I look at my food and realize there's no protein in my eggs benedict. Um...Where's the beef bacon?? I noticed the burnt tomatoes and the poached eggs, but where's the bacon? It is then that I see the overcooked, dry bacon bits scattered about on the potatoes. No, you can't possibly mean these... I called my server over and told her that I think my Benedict is missing the beef bacon and a different server comes over only to validate my fear. The bacon bits I noticed on the potatoes are what I'm looking for. It's obvious I'm not happy with the order, but the lady says that's just how they prepare their eggs benedict and walks away. What. Then why don't you call it Eggs Benedict with a side of potatoes and bacon? Why did you make it sound like the bacon was in the benedict as it should?? See the description below. I had to scrape up the bacon bits and sprinkle them over my very bland, eggs only benedict to make it somewhat tasteful. How annoying. You know what? Forget patience. Half way through my plate, I call my server again and ask if I can have my black coffee. She remarks "I'll grab it right now." I see her walk over behind the counter, grab a mug, and pour the coffee from a gigantic coffee brew. Just like that. It took less than 2 minutes. What. I'm so put off by this place that I don't bother to finish my food. I left my burnt, unfinished meal and walked out. Never going back. ____________________________ By the way, my daughter ordered fruit crepes and this order was also very odd. The "fillings" sit atop folded crepes...kind of like fruit over pancakes. So if you are looking for that light airy texture of crepes, go somewhere else or order something different. I love how this place is halal because it helps me when finding places to go with my family. I would say that the food is pretty good and my caramel macchiato was good. The latte was a little bitter. This spot is my go-to for a solid breakfast. My favorite is the Brisket Burrito but hold the sauce. It normally comes with a spicy red sauce on the side, and honestly, that stuff is pure magic. For a side, I usually go with the salad. It used to be a classic Caesar, but they've changed the recipe, now it's just mixed greens. I definitely preferred the old version. We've explored the menu twice over, but we always circle back to our couple of favorites. The pancakes aren't your typical fluffy buttermilk style, they're fine, but could be better. Coffee here is consistently good. The matcha and pistachio latte are always a hit, but pro tip: ask for a warmed cup. Otherwise, you'll end up with cold soup in a mug. Now for a concern: there's been a noticeable rotation in the wait staff lately. We miss the long-timers like Linda and Jona Lisa, along with many others whose names we've sadly forgotten. Don't know what has happened with iJava pricing and portion size. I had not been here in 6 months. A waffle with no berries just a caramel sauce and small amount of whipped cream was $17! I used to get one of their amazing bowls for less than that. An iced coconut latte is literally half the size for the same price as before. Three of us went for breakfast and it was a total of $90 before tip! One of the 3 dishes was the underwhelming $17 Dulce de Leche waffle. It had so very little dulce de Leche syrup we asked for more and were surprised to see an extra $1.50 charge for the extra they syrup gave us. So it ended up being a $18.50 waffle. The Brisket Benedict on their website states that it is $21.45, but at the location it us $25. Additionally, the service that had always been very good was also lacking. Seemed like they did not have enough staff. Sadly, we don't plan to return. Probably, the raw product has gotten more expensive or new management decisions. Just speculating. We're all hurting. I just recall in the past it was an overall nicer experience and kinder to the wallet. read more
