Easily a five star review, this is one of my all time favorite sandwich spots. It's not that expensive, it's flavorful and the portions are pretty generous. Weather permitting, try to sit outside. I've been here 8 times with 8 different people and 7 out of the 8 loved it. The one who didn't like it is from upstate, so I forgive her.
The food:
Meat Antipasti- it's good but super filling. You have your choice of 3 or 5 types of meat with grilled panini bread. I think you should stick with the crostinis and paninis.
Truffled Egg Salad with Speck Crostini- I really am a truffle slut, it really does make everything that much better, that and a runny egg. This dish is my favorite crostini. I liked it better than some of the paninis. The velvety eggs, truffle oil and crusty bread, oh my.
Chorizo Panini- Romesco, shaved red onion, mozzarella, truffle aioli. I really loved this panini, it was so perfectly sweet and savory. The chorizo paired really well with the romesco and I really liked the bite from the onion and flavor of the truffle aioli, this is a fav for me.
Simple Salad- Baby romaine, grape tomatoes, farmhouse blue, croutons, jalepeno ranch. I don't normally say this but this salad was awesome! The blue cheese had such a nice, not too aggressive flavor that really worked well in thes salad and I really enjoyed the slight heat, it was such a unique thing to have some spiciness in the salad but it was great. This is a must order.
Mushroom truffle butter, dirty chips, parmesan Crostini- I say this was messy as f*ck to eat but it was so good. I really enjoyed the mushroom truffle butter, the dirty chips added a nice crunch and the parmesan on top was so good but flies everywhere. This was great
Crushed chickpeas, artichoke, cilantro crema Crostini- this is not the most explosive dish because the flavors are mild. It's like hummus with pieces of artichoke and cilantro cream, all mid in flavor but still tasty.
Avocado butter, chorizo chili oil crostini- I thought this Crostini was just OK, all I tasted was so so avocado, the chorizo wasn't even flavorful but it was there. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rRdn4SbRZ9PQewUPoPRCoQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA
Chicken with Spicy Mayo Panini- this dish had a little more kick than I was expecting. It was chicken, mozzarella, arugula and spicy mayo. This dish is not the most creative but it has excellent flavor.
The Shrine to Swine- Porchetta, scrambled eggs, onion jam, aged cheddar, cracked pepper aioli. Oh the onion jam, you make me happy. The jam is wonderful. This panini is a solid panini but slightly one note, the porchetta is tender but doesn't pack a lot of flavor. Overall flavors were great. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=mlf_3s0dmmQu05tEVD-LnQ
Pass the Hash- Garlic roasted potatoes, chorizo, truffle aioli, scrambled eggs, parmesan. I enjoyed this panini. The flavor of the truffle aioli really popped and I liked everything as a whole, I didn't think the chorizo added much to the party, though.
Smoked Bacon Panini- Served with fresh tomato, baby arugula, cracked pepper aioli, and asiago. I loved everything about this dish except the bacon, I like my bacon crunchy.
Artichoke Panini- Served with chickpea butter, piquillo peppers, rosemary aioli, and goat cheese. My friend ordered this dish and she loved it since she is a big chickpea fan, I liked it but wouldn't order it.
Sir Oink-a-lot- This was my fav brunch panini, it's scrambled eggs, sweet sausage, caramelized onion, basil pesto with fontina. My only gripe was the eggs were slightly over.
Notorious P.I.G- Smoked bacon, scrambled eggs, artisan cheddar, and truffle spread. Yet again, loved everything except the uncrunchy bacon.
Getting Piggy with It- Soppressata, eggs, onion marmalade, basil pesto, pecorino Romano. I liked everything except the soprressata, when you take a bite, chunks of soppressata chase it. Also, the soppressata is a tad chewy. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=2ReiKVcck2CJKRzpXytBCg&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA
Roast Mushroom Panini- Caramelized onions, dirty chips, truffle spread, fontina. I thought the sandwich was good, but wasn't really exciting. All I really tasted was the truffle oil and caramelized onions. I remember thinking it felt like flavored bread than a panini. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=gxwp3lv_EexLe7Ox0xy7XA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA
Fingerling Potato Salad- Served with a truffle aioli, fried shallots and pecorino, this is such an odd looking dish. When it's served, all you see is what looks like curly white hair, but it's pecorino. But all the flavors work well together.
Baby String Beans- This is dish seemed like it was the only dish I could really make at home. It just seemed like regular string beans to me.
Dessert- Red Velvet Cupcake and the Brownie, it's safe to say you can skip dessert here. I actually didn't like either dish, they were both pretty dry. read more
