I've been wanting to try IL Bosco for a while however I am a little turned off by the location since I tend to avoid areas without parking. I finally decided to get a pizza delivered and omg it was 100% worth the extra fees they charged. I went with Valentina which is one of their best sellers. It was cooked perfectly. Flavors were so good and the honey was the perfect touch. I cannot wait to try more pizzas and I will say the pizza is worth having to go look for parking downtown. We have been to this location and overall 3 times now and every pizza we have tried out has been amazing. Our friend got some kind of mushroom pizza last night that wasn't our favorite but all the pizzas we personally ordered have been top notch. It's hard to say which is my favorite but i think it's still the katarina with the pepperoni and mushroom next to the Mia coming in second. The service has also been just as amazing. How can you turn down great pizza and great service and little to no wait? We wanted to try another pizza spot down the street but you couldn't get in unless you Made a reservation for days out. Stumbled into this new joint and we were very surprised at this amazing wood-fired pizza joint. It's a spring day so we sat on the patio. Our waiter, Russ, was amazing and was very informative and his suggestions were spot on. We hit happy hour so we started with fried ravioli and a Caprese salad. Spectacular on both of these appetizers! The pizza we chose was the Biaggia and while the crust was cooked brilliantly and had the most perfect crisp to the bread, it was the fig spread that was made in-house that set off this amazing pie. Really cute place in downtown Phoenix. Lots of outdoor seating with heaters and live music on Friday night. Bonus star for the great energy and friendly staff. Food was OK. ~ We started with the seasonal roasted veg with burrata and mozzarella. The veg was just brussel sprouts which I didn't expect in March, but they were cooked well. The generous serving comes topped with a single slice of mozz and a ball of burrata. It was fine, but not the super creamy version of burrata I was hoping for. ~ Chop salad comes with a small handful of mozz and tomatoes, served simply with lemon juice and balsamic reduction. Basic, but good if you want some cool, crisp veggies. ~ Patrizia pizza was ok, but the Biaggia was fantastic. The combo of creamy goat, sweet fig jam, salty prosciutto, peppery arugula was a winner. We had a party of 3 and I wish the serving size was a little bigger for that appetizer. We ordered wine which didn't come in a wine glass. It's small yet close feeling and the staff was very welcoming. We were seated right away yet had a hard time choosing from all the delicious ops. For appetizers we had the fried ravioli. It had a great sounding crisp while bitting into it and oozed with cheese.. oooooo I love me some cheese!!!! We also ordered the bruschetta which came with 3 whole slices. Those weren't exactly my favorite but then again I don't care for sweet stuff but all my cousins rereeeaaalllyyy enjoyed it in fact the ordered 2 sets. For pies we chose the Joanna and the Katarina... both were very good but we choose the Katarina as a winner for the mushrooms was the star of the show... we will definitely be back and try the other variety of pies...just beware when you leave you'll smell like brick oven pizza... but is that really bad lol read more

I work near Il Bosco & decided to give it a shot one afternoon. I was pretty hungry so I ordered a veggie pizza & opted to go with vegan cheese since they advertised that they used follow your heart brand. It's my favorite vegan cheese option so I was excited. I asked for it well done because most wood fired or brick oven pizzas are usually a little floppy in the middle. I quickly made my way over to pick it up & ended up waiting over 5 minutes for anyone to come out of the kitchen to hand me my order. I could see my food just sitting there, getting cold...annoyed but hungry, I quickly left once it was handed over. I didn't check my order while on the premises because I needed to get back to my job since I was the only one in the shop that day. Well once I got back to my job, I excitedly open the box to chow down, only to see that not only did they not put vegan cheese on my pizza, they didn't put ANY on it at all, meanwhile I was charged $2 extra for the vegan cheese. Like, not even a single shred of cheese was on this mess of a pizza. Annoyed, rushed & now hangry, I said eff it, & decided to try to eat it anyhow since I couldn't leave again to get more or even take it back. I picked up a slice & it immediately flopped over bec the crust was soggy & thinner than tissue paper, while being burnt, all at the same time. The artichokes were super tough, fibrous & completely tasteless. The ONLY redeeming factor was the mediocre sauce but it was not good enough for me to continue eating. I had one slice & the rest of the pizza was kept in its box & put outside for an outdoor resident to find. I couldn't eat it, it was singled handedly the WORST pizza I've ever had in my entire life. Floppy, soggy, & tasted like burnt dough. The pitiful crust lacked any flavor other than ICK. I paid $26 plus TIP for essentially one slice of the worst pizza I've ever had. I don't care how close Il bosco is to my job, I will absolutely never return & will make sure that everyone that comes into my job, that asks for food recommendations, knows that this place is to be avoided. It was very tasty and 1 pizza was the right size for lunch for 2 people. The pizza is a little floppy, so the first half of your slice may be a fork and knife affair. That doesn't bother me personally, but I figured I'd mention it. Their drink selection is decent as well, with several good local beers on tap. The service was a little slow, but I did overhear the server mentioning to someone that another server had called out, so I get that. Our server was friendly and pleasant. The atmosphere is cute, but ultimately it's fancy pizza for people who don't know anything about pizza. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Il Bosco sucks. I tried two pies from here, and they were just ok. Like someone made an attempt at producing the true Neapolitan pies you can easily find in the valley, but never learned how to make dough. Or cook it evenly. Here's what I had: Dona (pancetta, roma, parmesan)- Pancetta was so crispy it was absolutely delightful, but with very crispy crust and tomatoes that tasted overcooked and unripe. I must say I really enjoy their marinara sauce, however. Leara (white balsamic sauce, cherry tomato, red onion) - This is unique! The cherry tomatoes perform much better in the oven than their roma counterparts, and the onions were plentiful, as they should be. Crust wasn't overcooked on this one, but still dense and rubbery. Overall, this is a romantic and cozy pizzeria that seems ideal for a date night. It is not bad. But the competition around here is fierce, and I don't think I'm exactly compelled to come back. read more

A group of four of us made reservations in advance and visited on a Friday evening at 7:30 PM. We were seated at the back patio, which seemed great at first because it was quieter than the front patio and seemed more relaxed. We ordered four pizzas among us along with the stuffed pepper appetizer, along with some drinks. Our drinks came out relatively quickly but we waited at least 40 minutes for any food --including the app. During that time the waitress did not check in with us once. We finally received our food one at a time, with large gaps between the first two pizzas and the last two. Our appetizer was also received at the end. By the time that we were all finished up it was almost 10 PM. I've worked at a Neapolitan pizza restaurant and know that the pizzas only really take around 90 seconds to cook in the oven. We were wondering if the waitress forgot about us because we were seated in the back. As for the food itself, it was good, but Neapolitan style pizza tends to do better with classic toppings. This was an interesting take on Neapolitan style but personally not my preference. The pizzas are around $17 and can easily be consumed by one person, so it makes you wonder if they add toppings just so that they can charge more. The stuffed peppers themselves were great but by the time we received them, we weren't that hungry for them since they were initially supposed to be an appetizer. Overall, a pretty painful service experience and some pretty ok pizza. read more

The outdoor patio is really inviting, situated against the restaurant, which is located in an adorable cottage. They have live music on some nights, too. They do have a happy hour as well, and they have a decent selection of beers, wines, and cocktails.
