Had lunch there recently. Positives: Service was great. Bread- tasted freshly baked, good flavor Value- prices were fair for the amount of food. Bread, soup or salad and entree. I found the prices to be more than fair. Negatives: Ordered the cream of mushroom soup. It was the oddest texture I've ever had in a soup. Gritty and almost curdled. Hard to explain, but not good. Carbonara I don't know if I've ever seen that much butter/grease in the bottom of a plate. Salt bomb. All I could taste was salt and grease. Couldn't take more than a few bites. Vodka sauce with smoked salmon pasta. Again one flavor overpowered the entire dish. The salmon tasted ok but literally that's all you tasted. We would have preferred it be on the side instead of mixed in. We don't live in the area so won't be back to give them another chance. But this is definitely a pass if we ever find ourselves in the area again read more

Best Italian food I have had outside of Italy! I ordered the INSALATA DI MARE, a mixed seafood "salad" with lots of different shellfish and crustaceans and both rings and tentacles of calamari. No greens at all. The oil and lemon dressing was perfect. My friend had one of the Sunset Specials, a four course meal for about $30, and shared some of it with me. The bruschetta was delicious, the Caesar salad he chose was good. His choice of FETTUCCINE CON GAMBERETTI E FUNGHI, pasta with prawns and mushrooms, absolutely delicious. He had ordered spumoni ice cream as his fourth course but we were both so full (I ate some of the bsalad and pasta and gave him some of my seafood) that we changed it to cheesecake to go. My wife and I decided to come here for our anniversary. We came here a few years ago ago and really enjoyed the experience so we wanted to do it again. Much to our surprise we learned it was under new management but we were still excited to try the food. The waitress was super friendly and helpful in our decision making on our meal. We got an appetizer the Mozzarella Caprese which was very tasty, my wife said while it was very tasty it could of used some balsamic vinegar on it. the bread was warm and fluffy and the oil and vinegar dip had a great combination ratio. Then came our main dishes my wife got Fettucine Di Mare she said the scallops were cooked to perfection, bot rubbery or under done but just perfect and the noodles perfectly al dente. My Pollo Piccata had the perfect mix of flavor in the sauce that really made my taste buds sing while the chicken was so moist, I could cut it with my fork with no problem (All though my wife said I am not allowed to do that here as we were on our anniversary date and I had to use manners.) We went to this restaurant tonight for my niece's 21st birthday. Our server said she was in training and that it was her 3rd day. She seemed annoyed or angry and was very curt the entire time. The food was great aside from my sons spaghetti and meatballs. The noodles were hard and stuck together in some places in clumps, like they had been undercooked. But because the server was in such a foul mood already, My son said he would just eat around the clumps instead of sending the food back. When i originally made the reservation, i wrote in the comment box that we were coming to celebrate a birthday and multiple times during dinner and ordering drinks, we let the server know that it was my niece's twenty first birthday-she also should have seen it when she checked her id.. yet, we watched one table get a free Appetizer for their "birthday" And another table get a slice of cake with a candle in it for their birthday. And my niece sweetly sat there, with zero acknowledgment. We don't need the free things but 21 is a milestone birthday and we chose this restaurant because it came highly recommended, for the food and the atmosphere. Rating a 4 because our Waiter, Tony was AWESOME! Hosted a 26th birthday dinner here on 1/9 and it was my family's first time here. He provided exceptional service and was extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant & menu items. He also offered a complimentary drink & dessert to celebrate. He is the epitome of great customer service consistently coming back to ensure we were doing alright. The design of the restaurant was also very authentic and I felt we were in Italy. Food quality was fresh, and authentic. I had ordered the fettuccini. I will say the beverage lady was standoffish, & not warm or friendly to our party. She did not smile or welcome us into the restaurant. Being our first point of contact, we were nervous as to how the rest of the experience would fare. We mentioned we were here to celebrate a special occasion to which she did not respond to. Service like hers can deter anyone from coming back so just a forewarning. Tonight I ordered chicken picatta and asked for the pasta to be served on the side w garlic Alfredo sauce. I had the house salad with Gorgonzola dressing. Everything was off the charts fantastic!!! The chicken picatta was cooked perfectly and in a delicious sauce, very bright w fresh lemon, the garlic Alfredo pasta was Devine. The salad was perfect. The portions were very generous so I brought half home and scraped every drop of the sauces in my to go container. Great location for a restaurant with a unique layout. I don't come here often because I find it is hit or miss. Unfortunately... This evening was a miss. Service was good, but the food. Well, let's start with the bruschetta. Diced tomatoes on bread and the tomatoes didn't have great flavor and if they put anything else in there, garlic, etc. it seemed to be missing. The bread they bring for the meal was much better. Now to the veal piccata. I love piccata. I've had it everywhere from NY to the hill in St. Louis. This piccata wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again either. The truly odd part of this dish was the side of noodles. I love noodles. I'll take noodles in all shapes, sizes, colors. I am an equal opportunity noodle guy. Their noodles were not good. I couldn't put my finger on why because I can't say I have ever had a noodle I didn't like up to this point. But I didn't like those. The strange didn't end there. Veal piccata, noodles, and the noodles had... A tomato cream sauce? This is veal piccata and a side of noodles is standard fair, but noodles with a red sauce? To each their own but I didn't find the two complimentary. It was not like the famous burger and fries marriage. More like a burger with scalloped potatoes match! The reviews are true. It's straight up terrible. Came here, rented a room out for a party, and from the get go very bad results. Let's start with the beer, Ball Breaker Top Cutter. Hoppy IPA on draft was flat. It tasted like a Pilsner. This occurs when the CO2 level isn't correct, I know this because I brew my own beer. Dinner, prefix due to the party. Bruschetta was ok, but definitely canned tomatoes, bread was just normal French baguette. Salad, Caesar. Bag salad was better Lasagna, the sauce was brown, tasted like Chef Boyardee, and had mounds of cheese. I had 3 bites and stopped eating. Chicken parm was the same and tasted like it was frozen Linguine with shrimp.. consistent with other reviews, shrimp was the tiny shrimp from a can. It looked, smelled, and tasted horrendous. I skipped dessert, well I think you know why. On top of that it felt like we were being pushed out and rushed the whole night. Server was good but it was her first night and she was overwhelmed. Just not worth the $25 a plate. Places 20x better in the puget sound don't charge these prices. FYI.. I am of Italian heritage, been all over Italy and the food doesn't taste like this. The review is not about the "Value" it's about the taste/quality and how it goes to the pricing. The comments were not one I would expect from someone who owns a business. Wow. What an amazing place. We hosted a rehearsal dinner for 25 and Bill the owner was extremely accommodating when making the arrangements. The food was over the top, bruschetta, gnocchi, chicken parmigiana, filet mignonette, pasta primavera, tiramisu & chocolate decadence. All of our guests were amazed with the food. The absolute best part of the evening was our server, TONY! We had some guests that had some dietary needs that Tony took it upon himself to find out what they needed. The best part of Tony was his interaction with kids. He made sure they were part of the experience. Tony has a gift for reading a room and taking care of the guests. Yesterday was my first time to eat at Il Granaio, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I had the Sunset Special, priced at $27.95. I chose the lentil vegetable soup, strozzapreta Calabrese, with mango sorbet for dessert. The pasta dish was excellent, with spicy Italian sausage and top-notch sauce and pasta. I dined with two friends who were also quite pleased with their meals. The server was very pleasant and attentive. The portions were generous. We visited this restaurant in Aug 2020 during Covid 19 precautions and ate out on the patio. The patio was about the nicest part of the whole experience. The food was pretty bad. The "salad" (pictured) was just a pile of bland iceberg lettuce - I mean it doesn't cost much to get a Costco bag of actual salad greens, come on! The bread basket we were brought were small little chunks of bread that seemed like day old or something, not even slices of bread. My husbands's chicken parmigiana was basically like a frozen breaded chicken patty with some jarred sauce thrown on. My gluten free pasta was tolerable. Oh and the wine was super watery tasting which I know they cannot control but also added to our disappointing meal. The sever was friendly but we definitely won't be back. read more

One of our go-to FAVORITE restaurants. Great date-night spot. The food is top quality, flavors are so rich and delicious and they make everything from scratch. Which means you feel good when you leave. They also accommodate gluten and dairy free, which I need but my husband doesn't and it never disappoints on flavor. Servers are attentive. Wonderful ambiance. And a great wine selection, one of my favorites is Bocelli Sangiovese. And a favorite dish is their Lemon Pollo Piccata, so good! read more

The place quickly filled up, with pretty much every table full. We did the sunset supper, and a couple of drinks. It was a tasty and filling dinner in a pleasant environment. My family has celebrated all birthday and anniversary dinners here for at least 5 years now. They have the best Italian food, (I highly recommend the pollo parmigiana) and incredible staff, especially Tony who always makes it such a great experience! We feel incredibly lucky when we get him as a waiter because he always exceeds our expectations and we are never disappointed with our visits. I can't say enough good things, it's the perfect spot for family dinners and/or date nights. Very generic, bland pasta. A family group of 8 got together for a "once a year" gathering. The timing of the delivery of drinks and meals was difficult, (understandably, as we were a big group). The food was mediocre at best, but it appears they are more interested in feeding many rather than serving good food... I went to this restaurant for the first time last night around maybe 6 ish. I had the server Amber. She was so sweet and abs amazing. She made the experience so wonderful. Me and my boyfriend were not really hungry but it was our anniversary she answered all our questions and got us exactly what we wanted. We visited as part of a private family dinner event for 30, and were the only guests with young children. The restaurant is lovely and visually appealing, the food was delicious. what was over the top amazing was Tony, our waiter. While managing the full room needs, he also managed to check in with us about special simple meals for the children, served them first, and kept taking care of us through the night. I've been here three times now and man do I feel like a jerk for not writing sooner: Adjacent the train tracks in old Mount Vernon, sits an absolute gem of a restaurant. Located inside of an historic grainery, creaky floors and high-ceilinged, individually decorated rooms invite you with a sense of charm without too much of the kitsch often found in Italian restaurants. Is it fancy? Depends on your definition. I'd say though, that fancy is as fancy does. And my goodness, do they do here. Look - for less than $30 for their sunset special, you can get bruschetta, soup or salad, your main and dessert. And I'm not taking about mass-produced, sauce-in-a-bag type food here - they make their own pasta, you have at least 3 proteins you can choose from on their sunset menu in a variety of preparations, and they have many interesting, delicious and hearty vegetarian items (try the rigatoni Siciliana, it'll make you an eggplant believer). Fantastic quality. A steal of a deal by anyone's standards. (P.s., they chill their salad plates - fancy is as fancy does, am I right?!) But the dish that really drove me to write this entire review isn't on that ridiculously *under-priced* menu (which is truly exceptional, I promise). Doesn't matter. I'd pay double. The dish I'd really like to rave about is the Gamberoni Al Limone. Prawns (and we're taking a generous portion here) swimming in this truly devine butter, garlic, lemon and, wait for it... Anise sauce?!? Say what?! The slight sweetness and tinge of liquorice was one of the most delicious concoctions of flavors I have ever had explode in my mouth. With perfectly cooked fettuccini as the bed to this truly inspired creation, I could not help but to finish the monster serving. It was, as I told our lovely server Tony, shockingly good. I lived in NY and I would be remiss if I didn't mention that this was, in all seriousness, better than any single dish I ate in an Italian restaurant there (except maybe a pizza I had on Arthur Ave that used butternut squash as the base, but it's a hard maybe). But I digress. If you enjoy silky complex flavor, properly cooked prawns with perfectly cooked pasta, eat this thing. If that doesn't sound good to you, eat anything else at this local establishment, because I am sure you will not be disappointed. Shout out to Tony (I won't steal your joke :) - who gives lovely service and perfectly timed courses, not to be overshadowed by the perfection that is the preparation of these beautifully conceived dishes. Unfortunately the quality and the taste of the food has gone down here since new ownership. I ordered takeout and received small portions in huge takeout boxes that were hard to eat out of. The sauces lack flavor, with the Alfredo cream sauce (I got it on the Pasta Primavera) seeming mostly to be water and in need of salt. The gnocchi with tomato cream sauce was ok, but it also lacked flavor. Entrees here are above $25 each, but lack the quality and thought that would prompt me to come back here again and pay that price. The one thing that was good is the tiramisu, which consistently packs a punch with flavor. Overall, don't get takeout, don't get the Alfredo sauce. read more
