First off, I wasn't sure if the main guy walking around was the owner (I think he was) or a manager, regardless he needs to walk to all the tables and see how the meal is going, etc. this is basic 101 customer care here. I bring it up, because he didn't do it for us, nor the folks outside. The acoustics in the main area is brutal especially with kiddos or loud talking. We sat up front, not an issue and sitting outside definitely not a problem. The bread is sliced and grilled with garlic, seasoning and Parmesan. I asked for no Parmesan (dairy allergy) which he said they can do, but this means no seasoning. He didn't say it also meant no grilling. Bummer. Tiny place. Now onto the dishes I have fettuccine with the olive oil, parsley, garlic (it's very light) and chili flakes. I had them add shrimp. Next time I would go without the shrimp because the pasta alone can stand alone. Very light and I'm referring not just the dish but also the pasta itself. I do wish they had a vongole because that would rock. My friend had the arribata (it's spicy tomato sauce, I misspelled the word, do deal with it). It shows up in spaghetti. He liked it too. You will have leftovers. Pricing isn't outrageous for the area. Plenty of street parking. It's right across from the Belmont senior care place on Ventura.

Delicious Italian food & a cozy ambiance! Servers were nice and attentive. Food was a bit pricy considering it's not out of this world incredible but that being said, I enjoyed every bite I had! The surprising highlight of the menu for me was the Branzino. 10/10 recommend! Parking is of course limited given that it's located on Ventura Blvd, we were lucky enough to find street parking right on front. Overall, I'd love to visit again for a nice date night!

What a find!!! This tiny spot on Ventura Blvd., just West of the venerable Valley Inn (literally less than half a block), is a gem of an Italian restaurant, with a carefully curated menu of fresh-made dishes and specials, all of it tasting like whoever's running the kitchen has spent a god deal of time learning from some Italian masters. The cozy spot is narrow and a tad crowded, but that adds to the lively, communal feel, especially since everyone seems to be enjoying themselves quite a bit. Our server, Victoria, was friendly and swift, and quick to answer questions about how certain things are prepared, and to offer up enticing descriptions of the daily specials. We were quickly served house-made pizza-bread, lightly dusted with parmigiana cheese and herbs, and the perfect accompaniment for our drinks (wine and beer only here, but that fits the mood). We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer, which was a special -- you could tell, because this was very fresh squid, lightly fried to a pleasing crisp but meltingly tender inside. The tomato sauce served with it for dipping was deeply flavored and well-balanced between acid and sweet. Entrees were all stellar: Chicken Piccata with a rich butter sauce and capers, served with potatoes and veggies (though my wife ordered a side of pasta that was simply sauced with butter and pepper, and was to die for). Gnocchi With Pesto was a seriously generous portion, and the deeply verdant sauce was eye-catching, while Fettuccine Bolognese featured a hearty stew that had clearly been simmering a very long time. My own Spaghetti Carbonara was an exceptional surprise: most every place conflates Carbonara with Alfredo, offering a plate of excessively creamy, cheesy sauce with a dollop of pancetta to create a difference... but not at Il Nido!! Here, they make Carbonara the correct way, with pancetta, cheese and egg yolk carefully combined to create a creamy sauce without even a touch of cream. Wonderfully made, a truly delicious bite. We will be back very soon, because there are a whole bunch of things on the menu we want to try, and there's really no point in waiting. You should head in to try it for yourself because you're gonna be wowed.

Topped on for dinner based on the great Yelp reviews, and really enjoyed it. Nov ambiance with candlelight and beautiful music playing. Senior was vey friendly. I had the eggplant Parmesan special which was delicious. Very fresh and flavorful, great tomato sauce and fresh basil, serve with a side of penne. A glass of Super Tuscan red paired perfectly. Service was very friendly, too. Totally recommend!

If you're looking for a truly special dining experience, you have to try Il Nido. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone, soft candlelight, a calm and quiet atmosphere, and an overall feeling that makes you want to slow down and actually enjoy your meal. The food is absolutely AMAZING. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. It is the kind of place where you find yourself talking about the food long after you leave. What really elevates the experience, though, is the service. The staff are incredibly pleasant, polite, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. They take the time to guide you, answer questions, and make sure everything is just right without ever feeling overbearing. If you want a cozy, intimate dinner spot with outstanding food and top tier service, Il Nido is it. I can't wait to go back.

This place could be great with a few tweaks but as of now it's just average. The bread they give is thin and a bit stale. Some pieces were actually thick enough to soak up oil and balsamic but the majority weren't. The server wasn't helpful when asked for a recommendation but they were not rude by any means. My carbonara was just okay so I'll give it a 6.5/10. It was creamy and good sized portion but the pancetta was not crispy! That extra savoriness and crisp would've take the dish up a notch! I wouldn't mind coming back to give this place another shot

We had dinner at Il Nido last night and it is such a little jewel box of a restaurant. The vibe is very upbeat and positive and I love the twinkle lights scattered throughout. We were greeted warmly by Robert, the manager who oversaw every detail throughout the meal, as did all of the staff. We sat at a table near the front of the restaurant and it was much more quiet than the back. We started with beer and a lovely sparkling rose. Our server, Luca recommended, wonderful dishes throughout the meal. Everything he recommended, we loved. This is a restaurant where you can tell that the staff is very invested in the dining patrons enjoying themselves and having an amazing dining experience. Next we had the special Panzanella Salad which INMO could have had more bread but still had a light, fresh flavor. We also had the Calamari which everyone loved. For dinner we had Cacio e Pepe with the perfect blend of Pecornio Romano cheese and pepper. We also had the Eggplant Parmesan Special with rigatoni that my friend loved. The Chicken Milanese was aslo delicious-breaded chicken breast pounded thin and pan fried, with an arugula, red cherry tomato and red onion salad in a lemon dressing and Chicken Marsala with Crimini mushrooms, marsala wine sauce served with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. We were too full for dessert but-next time! Thank you to Robert, Luca and the rest of the staff for a great experience!

My friend loves Italian so for her birthday we came here for dinner. Parking of course is always a bit complicated because of the area but they had a shared parking lot right next to the restaurant that was available to park till 7:00. I was greeted and seated right away even though there was no one there except me as they had only been open for 30 minutes. More people came in after 6:00. We got really delicious bread which to be honest was my favorite from everything I ate. I got pasta and it was good but I felt like something was lacking. So did my friend with her truffle pasta. We both added salt pepper and red pepper flakes and cheese. I think it's definitely worth trying at least once. The place definitely felt very Italian and romantic with dim lighting. Seems like a good place to have a first date.

The nicest hosts and most lovely people ever. Very accommodating and warm. The food was average at best. The Caesar croutons were not homemade. The bolognese was minimal bolognese and a ton of watery tomato sauce. The hazelnut dessert had what tasted like Hershey's chocolate sauce on it. Mediocre food but you can't beat the ambiance and sweet servers.

I took my husband here for his birthday after finding the place on Yelp, and I'm so glad we tried it! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated right away. Il Nido is such a gem! We were able to get a reservation and were sat immediately. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome. Very friendly, warm, and attentive without being overbearing. What stood out the most was how thoughtful they were with their recommendations. They took the time to listen to our preferences and dietary restrictions and suggested dishes and drinks that ended up being perfect. The food was absolutely delicious, authentic flavors and everything came out at the same time, which isn't always easy with a party of five. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and honestly, it felt like dining at a family home in Italy. There is metered street parking right in front and neighborhood parking not too far.

This is just a hole in the wall italian restaurant in the heart of sherman oaks, but it's very underrated. At first, I thought the server was rude, but I think it's just how he is because eventually during our stay, he became nice. Lol. We ordered the following: Rigatoni norma Fettucine bolognese Brazilian (fish) Margheritta pizza Usually, I am not a fan of pasta or pizza if it doesn't have any meat, but I ordered the Rigatoni Norma and Margherita pizza anyway. The server noticed right away that ricotta cheese was missing in my pasta (rigatoni norma) when it was served, so that was a plus point right away. He took it and added the ricotta cheese. It was a fault from the kitchen (I think). Their Rigatoni Norma was very delicious!!! I don't know what's in their but I loved it so much!! To the point that I am craving it right now. The fettucine bolognese was the order of my husband and he liked it too. The bolognese for me is fine, it's not bad, but I was biased already with the Rigatoni Norma. It's a good place for dating, although we brought our 4 year old daughter. Lol. It's a small restaurant. It only opens for a few hours. The interior design of the restaurant is very simple, but elegant. I think all the ingredients they used are fresh. They cooked the food freshly. Their restroom is clean, but only 1 per person. It is separated by gender which I am happy about. Side street parking only. We went there on 8pm Sunday and there's not much people. I want to try the other pastas on the menu. I'm hoping it's also as good as the Rigatoni. I think the only cons I can say is not everything they serve is on the menu. Also, the menu in the website is I think different from the physical menu in the restaurant. I just hope they put everything in the menu so guests can maximize their order. Aside from that, nothing, we will definitely come back!

I went with a large group and I think everyone but me like their entrées way better than I did. I really think maybe I just made a wrong taste choice. I went for a mushroom ravioli with a cream sauce. I have to say the service was excellent. It's a cute little restaurant. You probably wanna make a reservation if you're going there, the bread is incredible. It's so so yummy. I did enjoy the appetizers. I was not impressed though by the Caesar salad I was with five other people and they all loved their trace. I think I just made a poor choice. I would recommend it and even for a romantic night or dinner.

My husband and I shared a salad, spaghetti arrabbiata, butternut squash ravioli, and the house made tiramisu, and everything was absolutely delicious and tasted as though it was made from scratch. My ravioli was excellent with an amazing sauce, and the tiramisu was light and airy, making it the perfect way to end the meal. My husband also enjoyed his arrabbiata and thought the sauce was excellent, though I did wish the noodles were slightly chewier. The service was impeccable, and we truly felt well taken care of. Overall, the meal was completely worth it, and we will definitely be back!! read more

I wish I had dined in instead of grabbing a pizza and running back to my hotel. I felt like family as soon as I walked in. While drinking my beer and waiting for my pizza, I saw an endless parade of yummy looking food and appetizers parade past me. Remember the commercial that said that's Italian? it must've been about this place! Then I saw the desserts slowly pass me... I was tempted to have them throw the pizza on a plate so I could stay at have dessert afterwards. read more

I had a lovely dinner here a few nights ago. Our server was kind and helpful 4/5. He suggested wine pairings for both courses that went well with the meal. I wish he would have taken more time explaining each wine. I ordered the carpaccio which was nice to start with 4/5. The filet mignon entree with peppercorn was FANTASTIC 6/5! It was cooked perfectly medium rare and the quality of the meat was great. I loved all the garlicy sauteed vegetables that accompanied the dish. read more

I haven't made a review in a while but I just had to say that this is a fantastic restaurant with fantastic service ! Came on a Tuesday night with a 7:45 reservation to celebrate my engagement. The decor is simple but thoughtful and we decided to be fascinated at the typewriter diagram they had idk why we liked it so much lol Wish I took photos but definitely also take their recommendations. We got both the beet and Caesar salad which I highly recommend. Beet salad was my favorite. We got gnocchi with vodka sauce, the lobster spaghetti which came with a spicy tomato sauce , and the truffle fettuccini. All pastas were so yummy and unique with their own flavors. Gnocchi was soft and the sauce was very fresh ! Before anyone tries to complain about parking, there's literally tons of space in the residential areas near by, I don't get why people don't wanna walk for 1 minute, but also plenty of street parking. All the workers are kind and were very patient with us lol. I appreciate and respect their hospitality and will be back again to try some other items as well! read more

The food was delicious, and the service was attentive and gave great recommendations! The decor is chic and upscale. I enjoyed the special--the short rib mushroom ravioli was so yummy. Very nice, small Italian place with a relaxed charm and warm service. Went on New Year's Eve and got very good food and wine. You can taste the quality and care that goes into their dishes. Their fresh, homemade pastas tasted great. But, to me, it seemed a bit overpriced for what we got. Yes, the pasta was quite good, but... it's just pasta. Glad we went but won't be back. read more

We were greeted and seated right away. We didn't have to wait to be acknowledged. Food was great and delicious. No complaints about the food since it tasted good. I would recommend ordering desert too. Since they have a variety of deserts and they look and sound yummy. Restaurant is very quiet and not loud at all. The employees are friendly and very attentive. I would be back for sure and I recommend going, if you're in the area. read more

We ordered delivery from Il Nido for dinner the other night and let me tell you, this place is incredible. We ordered the pesto gnocchi and the rigatoni Norma. You can tell that everything is made from scratch. The texture of the gnocchi and rigatoni was perfect. The sauces were rich and delicious. Super disappointed with how his restaurant handled Valentine's Day. Owners neglected to let reservation holders know that they would be serving a mandatory prefix menu less than 24hrs before the date. By the time we had a chance to view the menu it was too late to make another reservation anywhere. The staff we spoke to over the phone was apologetic and admitted that they had attempted to talk to the owners about how unfair it was to do this to people last minute, but apparently they were unwilling to change their decision or offer a solution for people who wanted to opt out. We ended up staying in for Valentines day and certainly won't be rescheduling with them in the future. read more

Loved Il Nido from the moment we approached the door. Super cute and cozy. Intentional furniture (love the large round tables), arrangements and lights. Perfect for families or date night. The food was superb. We finished every single plate- that's after we had crab cakes and pizza as an appetizer. Must try a pizza- the dough is light and perfect! Everything served was perfectly seasoned and fresh. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the pasta dishes. We finished the night with dessert. Tiramisu and an off the menu recommendation, lemon pie. Both were hits for all- from four years old through 40. :) The service was wonderful- a very homey & authentically Italian feel that we'll be sure to enjoy again soon. On my second visit, it seems they took note of my review because I got three meatballs this time instead of two! Now the price of the meatballs is much more justified. And the food is still just as delicious! It was a busy night tonight at the restaurant, but it was still a wonderful dining experience. I also got the bastoncini di mozzarella (AKA mozzarella sticks); it comes with four, they're pretty big! (I ate two of them before taking the photo). If I wasn't already certain that I'd found my new favorite Italian restaurant in the Valley when I first came here, I definitely am now! read more

Il Nido is a gem of a neighborhood restaurant in Sherman Oaks. We met friends there for dinner early Saturday evening and had a great meal. To start, we enjoyed the fried mozzarella and Caeasar salad - both were tasty. For mains, we shared the chicken parm special and a few pastas. Everything tasted great and the meal was paced well. Our server payed us plenty of attention without overdoing it. Overall a great meal and will be back when we're in the neighborhood. read more

We walked in without reservation, thankfully on a night that wasn't busy. The carpaccio was delicious and the pasta was homemade. We were not big fans of the asparagus and radicchio salad, it needed a light balsamic vinaigrette, ours was dry and very bitter. When we told the waiter he just shrugged. Overall a satisfying meal and we would go back to try other items on the menu. read more

1st time here since we moved to this town, and great service, our server was so nice and sweet. The food was delicious! My bf ordered the filet mignon and my god the truffle sauce was mouth watering! I ordered the spaghetti and lobster. The pastas here are homemade and so fresh, the lobster was too salty but the shrimp made up for it with the tomato sauce. Mozzarella sticks were baked not fried. Highly recommend this place and prices were not had at all. read more

If anyone ever finds themselves looking for delicious Italian cuisine at 8:45pm on a Sunday evening in the SFV, look no further than Il Nido, literally right at the 405 & the 101 intersection right off of Ventura Blvd (technically Sherman Oaks but arguably trying to make Encino, well, iykyk). This bistro-ish eatery, being also quite romantic, is easy to miss & take for granted on the Boulevard. But not only did Il Nido's friendly and personable staff welcome us at a time when the Valley is about to call the weekend and reset for the week, but they brought out all the goods - the fresh bread, the fresh parm, the fresh ground pep, AND the specials - and patiently "hung out" with us til our last drop of Villa Cardini, (which actually didn't take too long as soon as we realized the other patrons had a quietly shuffled out.) Great service deserves a great shout out. Did I even mention the short rib ravioli & chicken parm were Specials? Delicioso! Great food and great service from a little unassuming restaurant, that also checks the vibe box , only deserves a post with pix (that do not do it justice. ). Bon appetite! read more

WOW! What a great time! So I heard of Il NIDO "The Nest" a while back and wanted to check it out, so my sister's birthday was the perfect opportunity! First of all they are Pet Friendly which is a huge plus for me. We walked in to a very full restaurant, beautiful, cozy place. We had a dinner reservation at 7pm. We were welcomed with big smiles and sat to our corner booth right away, best booth in the house. Our waiter was named Marco, which made our experience extra special, so funny and knowledgeable, he had the best stories and was so enthusiastic and just entertaining. He told us the specials that sounded so amazing! They brought out the best bread to begin with and some drinks. We started with the cucumber salad that had heirloom tomatoes, avocado, onions, croutons in a light vinaigrette, so fresh and delicious. We also ordered the meatballs, in a marinara sauce, so yummy and perfectly cooked. For our main dishes we ended up ordering the Chicken Parmigiana, the Salmon with potatoes and spinach, and the fettuccini bolognese, perfectly cooked, with generous portions. All the food was so good, that we all looked at each other's plates and had to all have a taste of each others for a taste!! As dinner continued we ordered some wine. A delicious white wine from Sicily. A 2022 NOZZE D'ORO, dry and sweet, perfect match with the Salmon. I highly suggest it. Service was excellent, so attentive and at our service. We enjoyed every bit, no left overs here! LOL! We decided on some desert...we ordered the tiramisu and the pistachio ricotta cheesecake, OMG! Mouth watering!!! Not to mention with a candle and a birthday wish. I can't say enough about how great our experience was! Thank you to the staff and compliments to the chef. Let me start that this isn't our first time here. We have been there a few times and the food and service were great. We went last night and the service left a lot to be desired. We sat for probably a good 15 minutes before a drink order was taken and then the service was non existent unless we flagged someone down. Our food was good but no one came to see how we were doing. We ordered 2 glasses of Proseco to go with dinner and it never came. We waited so long to have our dinner order we decided to skip Appetizers figuring we would be waiting forever. Also the first few times we were there the Pistachio cake was to die for. We ordered it last night and it was sour and not the same cake, pretty disappointing overall and will need to think twice about going back again. read more

Went here with the boyfriend for a nice dinner out and it was amazing. The food was superb, the decor and vibe was very chill and laid back, the waiter was friendly and letting us know the specials. Overall it was a really great place to eat if you want some good quality Italian food. I got the fettuccine alla vodka and my bf got the chicken Marsala. We had tiramisu for dessert which was decadent and pillowy soft. I'm only taking off one star because the table we had was incredibly wobbly and I had to be careful how I moved my legs otherwise I was worried the table would shift a bit. read more

Il Nido is a gem of a restaurant. My family and I have been dining here for several years now, and every friend we bring here ends up adding it to their regular rotation. The staff are warm, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. John especially is talented at remembering patrons as well as their wine/food preferences. They are accommodating and never pushy. The ambiance is fantastic, always warm and inviting, this is an ideal spot for dates, meet ups, and mid-sized groups. The gnocchi and the mains are excellent. Personally, I've never had the pasta as that doesn't feel like a "going out" dish for me, and I frequently have the branzino which is spot on every time. Outstanding. Had the Arugula & Prosciutto pizza (added extra prosciutto to it) - it was fantastic. Really outstanding crust - airy, thin, and still chewy Neapolitan style. Also ordered a gluten-free pizza (pepperoni, mushroom, onion) and the dough on it was one of the best gf pizza crust we've had. It never happened. In an economy where everything is expensive just stepping outside I really value good service as well as good food. Both Thomas and Aya waited on us and they were both pleasant and kind with nice smiles. Thomas quickly brought out some waters along with their complimentary focaccia that came with olive tapenade. The bread tasted old and stale and wasn't warm, but I liked the tapenade. Surprisingly, we were never asked if we wanted anything else to drink and also never got refills on our waters until I had to ask for one. I ordered the Italian salad with dressing on the side and I asked if the carrots that came in the salad were cooked or raw, since I don't like raw carrots. Aya happily suggested that they can cook me some carrots separately and bring them on the side, which is what they did. Even though the carrots were not really cooked that well, the gesture was still greatly appreciated. My son ordered the Pollo Limone ($24.95) that came with grilled chicken breast with lemon sauce on mushroom risotto. He was not the biggest fan of his food but still ate all of it. He also asked if he could get a side of veggies and they gladly brought out a medley of sautéed broccoli, zucchini, and carrots. We were not charged for the side of veggies and also the salad, which was very generous of them. To end the meal, you get a small complimentary square of Tiramisu which is a nice little treat. The customer service is truly the best part of this restaurant and you can tell that there is a lot of love involved here. The restaurant was clean but just kind of unpleasant. You could also smell the bleach right when you walk in and sometimes the smell would waft through the air. Between the chocolate chips and sugar the cookie was sweeter than what I usually like but still a good cookie. I tried my daughter's lemon bar and I liked it. The things I tried I'm thinking 3 stars, my daughter liked the things she bought so averaging it out maybe a solid 3.5 stars rounded up to a generous 4 stars. Service was okay. Natas has a wide variety of pastries. I think the other items on the menu are more well received. I'll need to go back next time I am in town to try out some of other menu items.

I'm sad to say that my second visit to Il Nido was a disappointment compared to the first. This review is specifically about the customer service we received from Mark--the guy with slicked-back hair. Unfortunately, he was rude and seemed completely out of place in the hospitality industry. Our experience was marred by his inattentiveness, and it felt like we were an afterthought. Even something as simple as pouring our water was done poorly, leaving us feeling unwelcome. While the food remains delicious, be warned that if Mark is your waiter, you might encounter some serious customer service issues. Run don't walk to this new charming Italian restaurant in Encino. We love it!! Not only do they craft some of the best pasta dishes we've ever eaten, but the Veal Milanese is excellent as well. We were treated like royalty--the wait staff are attentive and friendly. They originally opened as take-out only until recently while they redecorated the restaurant. They've now opened the remodeled dining room and it's lovely. One tip: watch out for parking restrictions on Ventura Blvd in front of the restaurant, there are decent meters on Sherman Oaks Ave. just down the block. read more

I had the pleasure of dining here a few nights ago and I am still dreaming of their fresh made spaghetti carbonara. Truly authentic Italian as if it was made right from the streets of bologna.
