I've been here before but it was particularly good last week. It is so pleasant to sit outside at their picnic tables. Lunch is filling. We had the special (a quiche), pesto pasta, and the kale salad. The salad was over dressed and it was supposed to have blueberries in it, but did not. This place is a must! Every time we're in town we stop at Immigrant Son Caffé for some coffee and breakfast. I mean where else would you have a lasagne breakfast! The breakfast carborana is delicious as well. The service is always on point. Waiters are always friendly and although there's usually a line to get a table (because duh why wouldn't there be if it's that good) we get seated rather quickly. The decor is super cute all around. My friends and I were in town last week and saw that this place looked very good. There was a bit of a line but we decided to wait. When we got in line they said it would be about 30 minutes, but it only took 10. The food was delicious! Amongst my friends and I, we ordered the breakfast sandwich, breakfast potatoes, avocado toast and pancakes. All of them were 10/10. The pancakes were actually to die for. The coffee and espresso martinis were fantastic and all came out very quickly. The servers were all very friendly. The inside is also very clean and cute. This place has really done great for itself! I have been coming here since they first opened and they've come a longggg way (even surviving as a small business during the pandemic, thank god!). Being on Main Street is a plus so you can hit all the cute shops (support small business, people)! I.S. has classy and fun vibes, cool decor, great staff and service. The food is creative and different, offering things you can't really get anywhere (which I love). The breakfast lasagna, bacon flight, chicken parm sandwich, deviled eggs and anything they have on special are gems. I suggest following them on IG so you know what specials are about to hit. Typically as a solo diner, I go to the bar to get a drink/eat... but the line is usually pretty wild. Also, parking in Ventura is a headache so plan accordingly. My only small gripe is this: when I sit at the bar, the servers usually come to pick up customer drinks. They need to be more cognizant about their discussions right in front of customers. I could hear two servers discussing some inappropriate things (that I won't repeat) and they acted as if I wasn't sitting there. It has happened on multiple occasions. Also, be consistent with what's advertised in the IG specials. I will come in just for those but then when I get it, it's missing a featured ingredient, leaving me a little disappointed. Overall, this place is still 5 stars for me! It's a local gem and I love taking my family here or people who visit from out of town. What a delightful experience. Front the airy bright Italian inspired decor, the delicious food to the warm, welcoming and fast service, Immigrant Son Cafe had got me hooked. I came in on a Tuesday morning and was seated quickly in an indoor/ outdoor space brimming with golden sunlight bouncing off the white walls and white marble tabletops giving the impression of a luxurious experience. Great music filled the ambiance and set the tone of things to come. Michael recommended the breakfast lasagna and breakfast potatoes and was not wrong. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well! I also had a great latte with oat milk decorated with steamed milk. Very cute breakfast spot. On this Saturday morning it wasn't very busy so we got sat right away. Our server was kind and quick, we ordered some hot chocolate that impressed even the adults, a perfect omelette with fresh fruit and thick sourdough toast, and lastly A croissant with home made jelly. The food was very delicious with some exceptions, the jelly was not as good as I had hoped but i assume it comes with the territory of choosing an unsweet batch of berries. The pancake was very thick and stiff but had good flavor, the omelet was perfect, all the food tasted like amazing quality. You can tell there's pride in their ingredients. Ate a late brunch here yesterday. The service is both friendly and attentive. Our waiter was pretty much perfect. The manager came around to the tables to check in with diners. Everybody very friendly. We sat in their outdoor terrace. There are also tables on the sidewalk, along with seating inside. We ordered the salmon Eggs Benedict and seared tuna salad. I had an ice coffee and my wife had a Pinot Grigio. The food was delicious. My only criticism is that the serving of home fries on the side of the Benedict was quite small. Delicious! Got recommended this place and it did not disappoint. There's a line along the outdoor patio but staff was super friendly and we got sat real quick ~10 minutes in the outdoor patio (we came ~1pm and they were still serving the breakfast menu). Weather was a bit chilly but the food came out piping hot so it wasn't a problem at all! Breakfast Lasagna: 9/10 pretty unique! They were generous with the marinara which has this nice blend of acid, sweet, spicy. It felt very homey Immigrant Son Panini: 8/10 A classic and was not expecting an orange on top! Got it with a side of the soup of the day which was pretty nice (to preface I am biased and not a broccoli cheddar fan but I'll give it a 8/10). Either it was the hunger or an actual testament on the quality--I think I might have dreams of the bread this panini is delivered on, it's like some angelic being that I actually can't remember the taste but the process of enjoying it. Will be coming back to test that. Tiramisu: 7/10 we were craving tiramisu. We got tiramisu. The craving was fulfilled. Definitely coming back for more though! We were in town again recently so we made our second visit to Immigrant Son. They have three seating areas: inside, enclosed patio, and outside "patio." During our first visit we sat in the enclosed patio area, which was very nice. This second time we were seated inside and didn't enjoy it quite as much. It is a small area and got a bit stuffy. The food has been on point both times. During this second visit, the gluten-free pancake was more bland than we remembered, but still soft and good. It would be amazing if they had a blueberry compote, or similar topping that helped with moisture. All the current toppings are dry (sliced fruit, etc.). We will definitely visit again next time we are in Ventura. read more

Immigrant Son Caffe made it to Yelp's Top 100 California Brunch Spots; coming in at number 7. So, naturally I had to come check it out for myself. The line was starting to form when we arrived, but it didn't even take more than 5 minutes before we were seated. I appreciate the speedy service! We opted to dine indoors, since it was breezy and chilly outside. This café is very casual, yet inviting with their European-style inside. We were kindly greeted by our waiter, and I could kick myself for not remembering his name! I even tried looking for my receipt, but displaced it. He was a gracious server who continuously checked on us throughout our visit, making sure our beverages were full and the food was satisfying once it arrived. I ordered a cup of coffee and the Farmers Market Omelet. The coffee was perfect! I really enjoyed the taste of it, and the best part is that it wasn't too acidic or bitter. I can only handle one cup of coffee a day, but I went for another round! That says a lot about the coffee here. As for the omelet, well it was just OK to me. The veggies were good, but my only gripe is the chunks of semi-raw garlic that were domineering the taste overall. I love garlic, but I would have preferred it be sautéed more and less of it in my omelet. The potatoes were delicious though, and the sourdough was good too aside from it being cold by the time it arrived. My son ordered a gluten-free Belgian waffle topped with Tiramisu. He seemed to enjoy it, but the Tiramisu was a little too much for his tummy to handle. I sampled the waffle and enjoyed it without the tiramisu. It was quite decadent with the topping, but if you have a high tolerance for sweets, then this might be the waffle for you. To my surprise we received a complimentary waffle cookie to take home with us. I recommend saving it and walking down to Palermo to get a gelato and using it to scoop it up! Just a little tip if you're in the mood for dessert after your meal here. Overall, we had a lovely time and it was nice to come check out one of yelp's top 100 restaurants in the 805! The service was great, we were seated promptly and the interior was really cute and nicely appointed. Quaint and casual breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in downtown Ventura. Opens at 9a, 1st come seating! Freshly prepared and tasty foods, friendly service, gourmet coffees, plus bar beverages. Plenty of traditional and creative dishes, sandwiches, salads as well as some GF items...something for everyone! Overall, 4.25+ for smiling and efficient service, hearty food and relaxing ambience. However, it's not a budget breakfast, so expect to spend $15-20 per entree, without beverages. Today we had Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon Benedict, and the Molise (Prosciutto Pancetta) Benedict. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was fantastically delicious; generous slices of salmon, thin sliced onions, capers and perfectly poached eggs with house-made hollandaise, YUMMY! The Molise was good as compared to the salmon, but next time I'd opt for a Classic Benedict (with Canadian Bacon) or Breakfast Lasagna which sounds interesting. The Avocado toast was on large slice of Sourdough, with generous portion of chunky avocado, diced tomatoes, garlic, onion and fresh herbs with 2 poached eggs atop. We came on a weekday, and they had plenty of patrons so short wait for table; a good sign people like it here! I'll go back again on my next Ventura visit! ENJOY! read more
