We love this place. "Mom and pop" type restaurant with excellent food. Owners are friendly and they place is very clean. My only complaint is that it's freezing in there in the winter if you dine in, even with the heaters on. Stopped by for lunch today, having not yet visited this little place in the plethora of lunch choices in this area. Lunch is a quick and cheap deal here. $5.95 get you an ample order of the item of your choice, soup, choice of rice, fried wontons and a fortune cookie. Arriving before the standard "lunch rush hour' for this area, I arrived to find a few other diners leaving. I was in and out with my Kun Pao Chicken in under 5 minutes. I can't entirely agree with Anthony's assesment, 2 stars is too harsh, but I haven't been here as many times as he has. Hopefully my experience means whatever he's wished they'd improve, they have. I asked for 4 star heat, and they delivered the exact amount I was hoping for in my definition of 4 stars. Fresh, crips veggies, well cooked and ample portions of chicken, perfectly done rice and simple yet flavorul sauce. This place is hidden on the end of a mini strip plaza. It's easy to find as it's on the last lot. It is family-owned. I come here once in awhile and they're always friendly. Mind you, they're working from sun up to sun down. They're not open on certain hours BECAUSE they're inside prepping their ingredients and foods. Something like this makes you appreciate what people do in order to serve us. Not just these people, but all local business owners who are trying to make an honest living! With that said, my favorite dish is probably the mandarin crispy chicken, spice level 4. Super crispy (hence, the name) on the outside, tender on the inside. It always comes out hot and steamy. I love this with a bowl of rice. It's your average Asian-American dish, but hey, we love it! They have some good vege egg rolls as well. I like it just like that and not with the sauce that comes with it. Again, crunchy, and the vegetables inside are good! They actually hand make those, and other foods on their menu =) I love knowing that restaurants don't just store-buy certain stuff just because it's not as important as their "main menu" products (and yes, there are restaurants that do this, eh). There are plenty of Chinese restaurants out there, but give this a try as well. Perhaps underrated because it's a small little restaurant tucked into a corner, with 500 more Chinese restaurants scattered around. They make genuine food, and are very Asian! But friendly and willing to please you. They're happy to have a good conversation with you as well. Sidenote: if you are wanting to carry out but they're not answering their phones... I've lived in the Bothell area for 2 years and I found this resturaunt driving by. This place is awesome. The lemon fried chicken is to die for.. soft warm lemon sauce combined with crunchy fried chicken strips.. wow! I've had alot of chinese in my life and this place shines. The food is very fresh! This isn't always the case at other resturaunts. One thing I really like about this place is the food is NOT super greasy. Instead I am delighted to find the food is cooked in a delightful light oil that really brings out the flavor in the food and dosen't make you "super full/tired" after eating. The menu is awesome here.. there is so much to try and I'm so happy to find its full of tasty things. This place has much more than the traditional bbq pork, egg roll, fried rice and mu shu pork. That stuff is for amateurs! I feel the food here really seperates the men from the boys.. they really know how to cook well and make it taste good! The owners are great people and the staff is awesome. They seem to truely care about TASTE! Everything seems to be made from scratch and they truely take pride in their cooking. Being from the san fransisco bay area and moving to the PNW i have found it hard to find consistently good american chinese food. When i say american chinese i am referring to sweet and sour pork, mongolian beef, food tastes that have an american appeal. Unfortunately you wont find chicken feet or dim sum for your lunch time snack, but what you will find is a great value and great american chinese food consistently. the owners and staff are always welcoming and get your order out to you very fast and of course with a smile. You will be very happy with their lunch special and i highly recommend their mandarin orange chicken ++++++May Update+++++++ I have been to Imperial wok 3 more times after writing this review which had seen me as a patron half a dozen times before the review and i have to say something has changed unfortunately with Imperial Wok. The flavors have blended into the same blah american chinese food that i dread. The freshness is not there anymore, the flavors are singularly defined and the soups have gone to dishwater. This is what happens with american chinese food places all too often, they start out great and fade away to blah all too soon. Worthy of five+ stars. Our kitchen is being remodeled and we are kind of getting sick of the local grocery deli and fast food joins in our area so we decided to jump on yelp and see what was good in our neighborhood. We rolled up at 8:30 and I believe the owner was going to close down early as she turned off her open sign. I went to the door anyway to see if there was a chance I could order some dinner. She was so sweet and said yes! I said my husband would do the dishes. :). We ordered the Mandarin Chicken, SS Chicken and some appetizers. While our food was cooking we ran over to the QFC to grab some wine and a movie. By the time we got back, it was ready! Super hot and super fresh. The husband and wife who run this establishment are a class act. Great customer service, and a clean restaurant (something I cannot say for most of the restaurants in Canyon Park). Popped the movie in and popped the wine open and dug in. The food was delicious. Next time I'd aim for a higher star count, but I won't blame them, we assumed they have to match up the spice level with the neighborhood (no shade). I could see this becoming a staple in the neighborhood for us until our kitchen is complete. read more

I'll never eat here again! I walked in at 12:45, usually a lunch rush-ish time of day, and there were 2 people sitting at one table. The place, including the kitchen, looked deserted. I immediately wondered if yelp had failed me... uh, yeah! The Mandarin Crispy Chicken was not crispy. It was covered in some kind of sauce that I can't describe. It wasn't spicy, it was a little sweet... but not sweet and sour. The chicken was dry. It was, however, the best thing I ate...but that's not saying much. The hot and sour soup tasted kinda like the sauce on the chicken. It had a more defined hot and sour flavor, but it reminded me of something that may have come from a can. Not great. The eggflower soup, however, was the big surprise. It's not super easy to mess that one, up, right? WRONG. Theirs tastes like creamed corn and butter. With a little celery at the end. There were tomatoes in it as well... that's just weird. The egg strands were so miniscule I couldn't even taste them or detect their texture while I was eating. Again, weird. The fried rice... ugh. So dissapointing. It consisted of: the whitest rice you've ever seen, egg, and BBQ pork that was chopped so small, I couldn't taste it. No soy sauce, no seasoning... no veggies, nothing. The mongolian beef was covered in chunks of garlic and red chili flake, which was strange, because there was only a faint hint of garlic and almost no spice. I'm pretty sure that means their ingredients are ridiculously old. The beef had very little flavor overall. The onions weren't bad, and there were lots of them. They definitely have issues using salt here... nothing has any salt in it, which is needed in certain things while cooking, it's a fact! Avoid this place. Unless you like your food to taste bland, then go for it. And in the meantime, please don't write reviews on yelp... or if you're going to, please identify yourself :P read more

I looked at the great reviews and thought I'd stop to try this place. Maybe I came on a bad day but I thought the food was pretty generic and in some cases just bad. The egg flower soup had an aftertaste and I wound up throwing it away. The Beef and Broccoli and the Mandarin Chicken were generic and even for lunch portions rather small. What was supposed to be pork fried rice had no taste and honestly I couldn't even tell it was fried rice. The Crab Rangoon's had a decent flavor but the dough was thick and the filling minimal. How am I still hungry after going out for Chinese? But quality trumps quantity here, and while the $5.95 lunch special still left me hungry, the food was actually quite good. Had the mandarin crispy chicken which was a nice balance of sweetness and spice. The chicken was fried but still very light and not greasy. The lunch special comes with soup, rice, and some wonton crisps. The hot and sour soup was actually quite mild, but also not greasy as well. There aren't a whole lot of choices for Chinese in Bothell, as teriyaki seems to rule, but the Imperial Wok does well to offer some nice, lighter Chinese fare. read more

Based on others suggestions, we tried this place out for the first time tonight. We were pleasantly surprised. We had tried many items: Crab Rangoon, Chicken Cashew, Beef w/ Broccoli, Chicken Lo-Mein. Egg Flower Soup, and Pork Fried Rice. They were all very good. The broccoli was the perfect doneness, the rangoon had the creamy slightly sweet filling that is rare in these parts. The lo-mein was a bit different with wide noodles but still tasted great, and the cashew chicken was a bit heavy on the celery but again tasted great. The two college aged girl the husband and wife crew had helping out were nice and provided prompt service. I think I saw the wife making green onion pancakes for one of the guests...but didn't see them on the menu, so might be asking about that next time. read more

I too found this cute, I also found the five star General Tung's Chicken to have a perfect balance between flavor and burn. This is one of the best places to get Chinese-American food in the area, hands down! Pretty much everything on the menu is good. Although not very "authentic" in a Chinese sense, it perfectly fits into Chinese-American cuisine. The family that runs the place is great. Anything fried will be well worth the trip (the Crab Rangoons and Mandarin Crispy Chicken are soooo good!). My only complaint is that I don't really like ordering from the lunch menu. Definitely the best Chinese food we've found on the eastside. It seems like most of the other Chinese restaurants in the area don't bother to trim the fat off meat. One bite o' chicken fat, and the meal's all over for me, folks. Imperial Work does a great job of trimming their meat, and their Mandarin Chicken and Sesame Chicken are always really fresh, crispy, and satisfying. It seems like a lot of people have issues with the lunch portions, but I can safely say there's no such issue with the dinner menu. If I ate that whole entree portion in one sitting, you'd have to roll me home in a wheelbarrow. The service is friendly and speedy, and I think we'll be in many more times to come. read more

Two words: Stay Away. Two years ago, this was our favorite Chinese restaurant -- well worth a 30-minute drive across town. A change in menu (and perhaps the staff?) has adversely affected the quality of the food. We ordered a beef dish, a pork dish, a chicken dish, and a veggie dish. Each one was rancid and inedible. The Szechuan broccoli -- one of our favorites -- was covered in a dark brown sauce without a hint of garlic or spice. The chicken, which tasted more like chicken liver than white meat, tasted and smelled like it had been stored in a freezer, then thawed at room temperature for a week or so. The beef and pork were just as bad. In fairness, the tea and the steamed rice were good. But after a few bites of the entrees, we payed the bill and walked out --- very disappointed. I witnessed a table come in and wait fir service then leave because they weren't even acknowledged. Location: easy location to find with lot parking. Food: worst Chinese food I've ever had. We had the won ton soup which was bland and I wasn't sure about the type of meat in the won ton but definitely like no other won ton I've tasted before (in a bad way). We also ordered a dinner combo - hot and sour soup had a funky sourness to it and the Kung Pao chicken did not have a distinct flavor. This place trys, I'll give them that. The service was very slow, and kind of abrasive. That feel of Flo in a 1950s diner asking "whatta you want? " I waited awhile to be greeted and have waited even longer for my check, at this moment I'm still in the restaurant waiting for my check and there are 3 tables that haven't been greeted... There are only 8 tables in this place and 2 of them are empty. The food looked good, the taste however... we ordered the crab rangoon (little to no crab, mostly cream cheese and onions) the crispy mandarin chicken (good flavor, but it said it was spicy I ordered 4 stars and it is actually quite sweet. So it's good, just not what I expected) and the honey Walnut prawns (these were cold so the flavor of cold seafood covered in sweet mayonnaise doesn't really sing praise) Also the phone rang off the hook, the ENTIRE time I've been here. There were only two people working (husband and wife combo, maybe the owners? ) that's why I didn't give one star, they tried. I just feel like maybe they should hire help, or try a different approach, I actually saw the lady tell a man she wouldn't take his walk in to go order because she was to busy. read more

If you ask me, many restaurants are not what they used to be. They make food based on what they believe the community wants, not based on what tradition is. That why Chinese Food in San Francisco tastes better than China Express as Safeway and Mexican in San Diego is better than Azteca. That's also why Chinese Food in Bothell may not be your best choice. The service here was about average, the menu selection was about average, but the food was average at best and it wasn't cheap. The guy from Vancouver was a bit harsh, but if you have had Chinese in Vancouver, you have had some of the best Chinese ever. The community there is Asian, so the cooks don't hold back and for anyone that is used to a good meal, anything else is enough to lash out!. I hate to sound racist, but for the fair skinned folk who think Tabasco should have a large warning label or sneeze at the sight of black pepper, stick to the sweet and sour, but your insistence that ethnic food is too hot tells me that rather than you ruin it for the rest of us, request yours 1 star. Cultural legacy is to long and too rich to be destroyed just because your mom used The Betty Crocker Cook Book. Sorry for the sidetrack, but I would say better than some, but not better than most. We haven't eaten Chinese food for a while, and were really craving it. This was perhaps the closest to us, and despite the up and down reviews on YELP, we decided to give it a try. I'm unhappy to say, it was very disappointing. We ordered take out and here are the results: Almond Chicken (my favorite when done right): Dry over-cooked chicken, gravy was wretched. Sweet n Sour Chicken: Dry over-cooked chicken, S&S sauce was packet worthy. Pork Fried Rice: White rice, usual ingredients, I could've made this at home myself. BBQ Pork: Decent, hot mustard was exceptional; creamy and actually delicious! Won ton soup: This was the highlight, good broth, and good meaty won tons! Egg rolls: Don't know, my boys ate them. Chicken Chow Mein: Noodles were dark brown (cooked and tossed in soy sauce, Top Ramen?) No bean sprouts, and limited vegetables; disappointing to say the least. We called in our take-out order around 6pm, so it's not like we got the left over chicken that was sitting all night and was going to get thrown out at close. A complete waste of $40, I would rather have spent that at any other fast food joint. I'm not sure if Seaver H. is 'high' when he orders here, because apparently EVERYTHING is fanTAStic according to his review. Unfortunately his review weighted pretty heavily on us trying this place. What a surprise. I wasn't expecting too much from this little hole in the wall, but the service, food, and prices were great. I was one of 3 people in the restaurant and can probably attribute the lack in customers to the location. It's on the end of a strip mall around the backside and thus is not that visible to the street. Walking in I was welcomed warmly and allowed to sit anywhere. I noticed the kitchen was open so that the customers can see into where and what the chef was preparing. I enjoyed the fact that I could see that the chef was preparing the food from fresh ingredients and saw that he was adding the spices and meet in from scratch and not warming up a prepared dish that was prepared a day or so ago. I ordered the combo #3 which was the Hot and Sour Soup, Crab Rangoon, Spicy Chicken, and Pork Fried Rice. The Hot & Sour Soup was flavorful but pretty standard. Normally, I'm not a fan of the fried Rangoons, but was pleasantly surprised to see that they were actually stuffed full of filling and not the usual fried wonton packet with thimble sized stuffing. The Spicy Chicken was tender and moist. I asked for 4/5 spice and was expecting more spice, so I was a little disappointed. I would probably order 5/5 spice next time. They continue to put out good food consistently. My Wife and I get take out from here on a fairly regular basis and are always trying to swap out a dish or two in our regular rotation to try news things. We've found an absolutely new favorite - their Egg Foo Yung (pork) is absolutely fantastic. The sauce that comes with it is delicious. The only down side to it is that it doesn't reheat well, but we rarely have leftovers of that as it's the first thing to go when we eat! I continue to recommend the pot stickers and Mandarin Crispy Chicken. The husband and wife team that run the location are superbly friendly and, as I'm somewhat of a regular, have even learned most of my order for over the phone when I call it. Looking for a quick in expense lunch and got half of what I was looking for. There is no debating the cost of the lunch at $6.50 however the speed of service and delivery were too slow. There is only one guy cooking and making one dish at a time. The fried rice was no different than steamed rice except it had carrots and BBQ pork mixed in. The worst part is they are cooking in the eating area, so the smell of oil and cooking hang heavy in the air. What did I learn today? I think the fried wonton was cooked yesterday. read more

I ordered ~shrimp fried rice - super good, particularly with a little soy sauce. ~garlic shrimp - this had way too much mushrooms for my taste and the sauce was on the sweeter side. ~mongolian beef - also on the sweeter side, so I didn't love it. ~vetables deluxe - very delicious and I'll order it again. I would not go back again. We did family dinner D -there is really nothing good to write about. hot and sour soup was tasteless and so bad that went down the kitchen drain. All the food we had were pretty much tasteless and the portion size was half of what normal Chinese restaurant provide. on top of that the take out order is 30 mins wait on a Tue night 6:00 Pm and the owner is not even friendly. the best part of the dinner was fortune cookies and they didn't even provide any utensils. Went there due to the 5 star reviews. I was so disappointed. I'm sorry to say there was nothing 'amazing' about the food. I've got to believe those 5 star reviews are 'FAKE'. This place is absolutely NOT a 5 star place and not even a 3 star at best. I believe it's the very first time I've ever left food on the plate at a Chinese restaurant. We had chicken dishes where the chicken was SO dry, we could not eat it without a struggle. We had the individual combo plates #2 and #3. It was clean but modest and dated. Prices seemed industry average for dinner but we left feeling like something was 'lacking'... $25 for two without drinks. In my opinion this is way overpriced for the quantity and quality of food. Certainly do not expect there will be enough to take home even if you wanted to. Place was empty but for the two of us. However, the woman did not want us to sit at a 6 person table!?!?! Absolutely worth a trip to!! My husband and I love this little place because it is close, clean, and very welcoming. The meat always seems clean and not fatty like so many places I have been to. It is reasonably priced for the large portions they dish out too, so maybe think about sharing and you could save yourself even more money. I am a huge fan of their: -Sesame Chicken-it's the perfect amount of spicy-sweet and tang -Fried Rice-Clean and bursting with flavor, and fantastic when paired with dishes -Szechuan Broccoli-I love broccoli. Best Chinese food place in Bothell, hands down. Imperial Wok is located right off Bothell Everett Highway and is easy to get into and park. It appears to be family owned and has a "mom and pop" type atmosphere. The woman who works there is always rather quiet but always friendly. As for the important part of the review, the food is fantastic. One thing I hate about other Chinese places is when the breading on the meat is overwhelming. That is not the case here. If you order General Tso chicken, your're getting a fresh, succulent, juicy chicken hunk, wrapped tastefully in a sweet Tso blanket. The pork fried rice is excellent and we typically order the Hot and Sour soup which tastes more sour than hot (in a good way) but is not "broth" heavy. I'd also recommend the almond chicken. Prices are very reasonable and quantities are large enough to provide an extra meal to bring to work the next day. If you eat inside in the winter there are heaters on the wall but I found my lower extremities to become slightly cold. That's about the only negative I've got. I'd also like to note that food has always been prepared on time unlike other Bothell Chinese locations. Now get out, support a small local business, and enjoy some tasteful Chinese food. read more

Remember It's is less a sit down Restaurant and more a quick stop for an easy Chinease dinner. If you want sit down quality you gotta find a sit down focused restaurant.
