The workers here are friendly, but their food is a little slower than other in n' outs. I've been here quite a number of times. I used to go to this one to hit the drive through before heading home. They always got the order perfect...one in an eating in the car, and the other in a bag. Service was always friendly. Food was always perfectly cooked. Now we usually go here for after concerts. I dinged it one star because this is a very slow In & Out. I don't know why but it is slower than any others I've been to. And we were there on the 14th around midnight and they had the AC on Polar Style. Growing up on the East Coast, I was deprived for too many years of the deliciousness that is In-N-Out Burger. I had no idea what I was missing. I heard stories from friends that had ventured to the West and saw pictures of their first meals, but I never understood the hype-- it's a fast food joint...what's the big deal? That first animal style french fry bite changed everything. I arrived around 8:30 p.m. Parking lot was totally full and there was an impressive queue at the drive-thru. There was an employee taking orders from cars waiting in line on an iPad. I'm not sure what it was about a human being actually standing next to a car taking orders, but it felt more genuine? It was as if they were saying, "we know the line is long and want to make sure we get your order in as soon as possible." I did my research and ordered animal style fries/veggie burger. Also, the employee asked if I would be eating in the car. Was not expecting that and was interested to see what my "yes" response would bring. I found that response brought a placemat and my meal in a sweet little cardboard tray. The excitement quickly wore off, as I realized eating animal style fries with one hand while trying to maneuver a vehicle is NOT SMART. DON'T DO IT. But those fries. Could. Not. Resist. I saved the burger for when I parked. It was literally two buns with a bunch of veggies in the middle. And who would have thought that it would be amazing? Upon visiting the West Coast for the first time in many years this was the first place to knock off my checklist. It was your typical fast food visit so I'll spare the boring details of the location, service, etc and get to the food. I ordered a double cheeseburger with animal style fries and as soon as I got my food my mouth was watering in anticipation for this burger that I so longed for. It did not disappoint, the burger was very juicy and a mouthful in every bite and the cheesyness and sauce sealed the deal for me. It brought back memories of when I lived in San Diego and we would go as a family down to the local In-N-Out. The animal style fries were a bit too much of everything for me though, I should have just got regular style fries because they were sauce overload. Here's the deal - the burger is better than Five Guys. The fries are not. Long lines for the drive through but it moved pretty quick. When you get a double double animal and protein style, it tastes a little different everywhere. Very solid here; the cheese didn't coagulate before I ate it and there was a good lettuce to meat ratio. Yum! Seriously, once you go protein you don't go back! For science, we did a head-head burger challenge. Challengers: In N' Out (INO) 5 Guys (5G) Submission: INO: Double Double with cheese, animal style 5G: Double cheeseburger with grilled onions, mushrooms. Results: INO: Solid taste but bun tasted processed. The whole thing kinda mashes together. Little bit of a mess. But that's part of its charm. 5G: Better, fluffier bun. Meat patties larger by at least 25%. The whole thing tasted fresher and less processed. Conclusions: Extremely surprising win for 5G. Soft spot in my heart for INO considering all the late night runs in the younger days. Didn't think anybody could hold a candle to that masterpiece - the Double Double. But 5G was legitimately better. Enjoyed eating it much, much more. Also, this meal was more than enough for (2) adults. Side Experiment: Fries ranking 1. INO Fries 2. 5G Cajun Fries 3. 5G Regular Fries 5G fries have waaay too much salt. Friendly staffs. Clean and line moves fast. Parking isn't the best, very narrow and busy street, across from Costco.

I came here for my lunch break and it was pretty busy. I was planning to eat in but when I walked inside, there were no tables available. BTW, this review will be short because I didn't eat here to observe everybody. I ordered a Double double meal with no onions (I didn't want onion breath at work) which was $6.50 total. There were a few people ahead of me so I had to wait a bit. The staff were all busy doing their own things and I didn't see a customer wait in line for more than 5 seconds before somebody came to help them with their order. The tables were cleaned immediately and everything was pretty clean as far as I could tell. FYI, don't park in any of the spots that are near the drive-thru because you'll be stuck waiting for other cars to move up in the drive-thru line. That's exactly what happened to me so I ended up waiting a few minutes before I was able to reverse out of my spot. The Double double burger tasted just like the other In-N-Out Burger locations so nothing to say about that except that it was good. The fries were alright but a little oily in my opinion. I just looked at my fingers with all that oil shining and thought that all of that would probably end up on my face sometimes in the imminent future in a form of a pimple. I'll be back! read more

Never a disappointment. We're so lucky to live in California and get In-N-Out. Let's face it, there's no other fast food burger that even comes close to this one in most of the rest of the country (although I recently ate at The Habit and was incredibly impressed). But back to In-N-Out. I know a lot of people are into those secret menu items, but I'm super happy with 2 singles with grilled onions and a fries. You really can't go wrong. As with all In N Outs, the quality of the food and cleanliness of the facility is wonderful. Their servers are fast and efficient as well as polite. I got a standard cheeseburger and fries, while my friend got a double double with animal style fries. Personally I think I'm more or less a purist when it comes to burgers and fries; less is more. In N Out knows how to do burgers, from the crispy bun and fries to the perfectly broiled meat patties. Came here around 11am on Sunday morning. Since it was early, the place was only half full. I've been to this store maybe a dozen times. Since it was only my wife and I, there were seats available, but both my wife and I noticed that there were many large tables that were not clean after the last party. Catsup stains on the table with straw packaging were sitting there, with nobody cleaning the tables. We also noticed that when we walked on the floors, our shoes made a squeaky sound, as if the floors were greased and was not mopped properly. Like I said, we've been here before, but never seen the floors this squeaky. Despite the low number of customers, service was slow. Maybe the young lady at the ordering counter was new. She seem confused most of the time when the ppl in front of us didn't want X in their burgers. She would repeat all the stuff that was in the burger, then say, OK, so u don't want Y. Maybe she was new and in training, so I understand. We sat and ate the food. It's delicious as always. The dirty large table stayed unoccupied. The order taker came out to sweep the floor, but she kept walking past the dirty table w/o cleaning it. Frankly, I was a bit surprised. How can she miss all the dirty tables? Finally as we finished our food and the place was getting crowded, a family with 2 small kids sat at the table, but she had to approach someone to clean the large table. After the table was cleaned, the young lady passed our table (connected smaller shared tables) which by the way had catsup/straw packaging over it. She didn't bother to clean that one, which confused me. All I can say is, if this was my business, I would want the tables cleaned religiously and not wait for a client to approach an employee. You would think this was common sense. Food is good, but their table cleaning cycle was poor, at least when I was there. I know this isn't a 5 star restaurant, so it is what it is. But the most basic common sense thing is to clean the tables so your clients can sit and enjoy their meal. It's not that hard to figure out. read more

I really like their burgers, not sure why, as the meat patties are ridiculously thin, but the overall taste is really good. It somehow tastes more fresh and less "fast foodie" than other fast food burgers. My favorite is the double-single (2 meat patties and one slice of cheese, with lettuce, tomato and raw onion slice). The fries are really not my favorite, even though I still get a side of fries to share. There is just something about them that is boring, even though I know they are freshly cut in the stores (I've seen the guys peeling them!) but they don't taste all that great. Not sure what they are doing wrong? When I make fresh french fries at home they are beyond delicious, so who knows? Hope they fix that and some day bring out some good fries. Shakes are decent, coffee is decent, overall a nice fast food experience, and you don't feel all gross and logey after eating this stuff as you do at some greasy joints. read more

I know, it's a little weird to rate In-n-Out as a 5-star. It's not a '5-star' restaurant in the classic sense, but here's my deal: When I moved to North Carolina for the B-school thang, there were like 3 things that I totally missed about California. Trader Joes, No Smoking in Public Places, and In-n-Out Burger. InO Burger is just legendary to me. Simple menu, yes. But, the quality is outstanding. Everything uses fresh ingredients, nothing is frozen. And they make everything to order. And, I hear that it is tightly controlled by the family and not a typical franchise model, which preserves their high standards and principles. Here's another thing: even Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation has said InO Burger is on the okay list. For him to say that, they must have high standards! But that's not what I missed most. InO is a cultural landmark in California (esp. in Southern Cali). I associate it with my late night undergrad days...there was nothing like getting 2 double-doubles (or the occasional 4x4), fries, and a vanilla shake back then. I still have very warm memories of that, and missed it on the other coast. East Coast people had no idea what I was talking about. I also love how you can order variations off the menu - Get your fries 'animal style', not just your burger. I'm not going to get into some of the other variations, since there is supposed to be some underground, coolness rule about revealing the "Secret society of In-n-out Burger Devotees hidden menu" that I would be violating. This one is located right off 101 (like many of them are), and always seems to be extremely crowded any time of day. It's like any other In N Out, although this one seems to get ridiculously busy at times. Go there for their burgers. I'm not a fan of their fries or even their shakes. We've been to this location three times already and we've been living in the area less than a week. It's always slammed - seating is a challenge. It's even more of a challenge if you're seven months pregnant and really need one of the two handicapped-tables available that always have kids and other non-challenged people sitting at them. They do have outdoor seating, but that's also a no-go for me, for other reasons. Like the few other In-and-Out locations I've been to, the service is fast, trouble-free and consistent. My only beef with the place is the lack of seating for the number of customers. If you want to park, be prepared to look around for a parking space; like I said, it's slammed. read more

This location is great and on par with pretty much every other In n Out I've been to. It's clean, the food is consistent, and the people are friendly. The only downside to this location is that it's right next to the highway, so if you sit outside, you could take a few steps and be literally on the highway. One tip: get fries well done for crispier fries. Unfortunately, I think they use some sort of lower starch potato, so their fries are never that great -- but they are still good, and still fries! read more

In-N-Out is one of my favorite places to get a fast food burger. I typically get a double double if I'm super hungry or a cheeseburger with bun extra toasted and grilled onions, and fries well done. Milkshakes are really thick at In-N-Out, so I don't usually get them because I can't drink it out of the straw until it melts a bit. I've come to this location at various times and it's always busy-try not to come at noon because you'll be waiting 20+ mins for your meal. The "protein burger" is a bun-less burger wrapped in lettuce. Again, you can get "Animal-Style" in protein format. Great owners, and the staff are very nice, naturally friendly people. I don't think I've gave any in-n-out anything less than a 4 stars before, but I was not satisfied with this one. Given that they're right across the bridge from Shoreline Amphitheater, they should probably know that they're going to be busy on concert days. I have to give them props though. Given the amount of people they had to take care, their turnaround time in getting your food to you was pretty quick. On the other hand, my burger was smaller than usually and the bread was slightly burnt. I didn't want to wait for another burger so I just ate it anyways even though the burnt bread kind of bothered me the whole meal. In-n-Out burger is a miracle of modern society. They're a fast food restaurant but wait a minute...this burger is fresh, tasty, and grease-free! Now I'm confused. The lettuce actually crunches when you bite into it and the tomatoes have flavor! Their menu consists of pretty much a hamburger, cheeseburger or a double cheeseburger. Each order is cooked to order and can be customized in pretty much any fashion you desire. You can stand at the counter and watch your fries being made from whole potatoes, I shit you not. Their Neapolitan shakes are damn good and go nicely with their burger and fries. If you've never been to an In-n-Out burger brace yourself for the friendly go-getter attitude of their employees. I don't know what they feed their workers but they're always attentive, hard-working and happy - it's borderline bizarre. I'm not going to pretend I understand the obsession that is In-N-Out Burger because I don't. But my boyfriend loves it so when we are in an area that has it, we have to go. This location really needs a lesson on customer service. I get this isn't the fastest of the fast food chain but with such a basic menu, you would think you could keep things going a little more smoothly. Even a location that is as busy as this location. I guess especially a location as busy as this one because you think they would get use to it or prepare better for it. We ordered our food and were lucky number 58. 20 mins later we heard 55, 56, 61, . . at this point we walk up to the counter and watch as what looks like our burgers sit there waiting for fries. The employees grabs a to go bag adds fries to it and continues calling numbers 62, and again more fies added to an order 63 . . but not ours. In any other place, I would understand maybe they already had that item prepped for the other order or maybe my item takes longer but you can pretty much only get the same burger and fries.
