Had a taste for Tri Tip and was in the downtown area. This location is in the far back corner and can be missed. It was clean and no line at all. The cashier greeted me as I walked in. I got the Tri Tip bites with sweet potato fries. The fries are $1.50 extra. Usually comes with fried onion strings. Also, comes with au jus. Well, I'm back here at the Moscone center for a week and I always walk across the street into this closed little plaza area and decided to grab a burger from Buckhorn. The line wasn't too bad to place the order. It was lunchtime and a lot of the workers from Moscone center go over and grab food in this area. I ordered the number one combo which came with a single patty, burger fries and a soda and I opted and added another patty and I got it with lettuce and tomato and onion and I wanted mayonnaise and cheese on it but as you can see the lady that was taking my order did not understand what I was saying but I let it go The burger was really good. It had a really nice grilled flavor to it and I was not too impressed with the tomato. It still had green on the inside of it. I took that off of the burger and we put it on a side, but overall the food was really good. The fries were fresh and crispy. The soda is a soda nothing to say about that other than you can get a refill if you like. The price is comparable to every place else in here. Overall this place was very Mid. The food is lacking flavor but the portions sizes are great. It's very filling and the price is okay. We just need some more flavor! It's inside the Metreon. Seating is outside of the restaurant in the Metreon. The seats are very outdated and dirty and have damage on them. The tables we set at we're not clean so I'm not sure if someone comes around to sanitize them or how often they do. The bathrooms were very dirty and I didn't use them because of this. Located in the Metreon, Buckhorn is on the slightly lower level, near the restrooms before the corridor to Target. I came here for a quick bite before my evening movie and it was just alright. To come here, you'll have to be okay with a wait and really want their menu selection and not want to leave the Metreon. I probably would recommend considering elsewhere in the Metreon, or Super Duper just around the corner. Menus up top above the ordering counter. You get a receipt with your number on it for your order. Takeout gets you a lidded container, whereas dine in gets you a paper plate. I placed my order at 6:20pm on a Sunday and must have hit the dinner rush as it took until 6:46pm for my burger to be ready, with a lot of food delivery folks grabbing orders ahead of mine. A lot longer than I expected and I almost missed the first minute of my movie. For this order I got the Combo 2. Burger was alright. The buns were very lightly toasted but barely noticable. Burger itself was just okay and nothing terrific. The fries which came with the combo were like frozen fries which you heat at home, but very much lacking salt or anything else to flavor them. Another in my party got the sweet potato fries and they tasted better. Thankfully, there's a self serve station for sauces, which saved my dinner. Plenty of seats courtesy of the food court. Prices were great too. Would I come here again? Only if I really didn't want to go outside and also really wanted a burger. Was in the SF area for an event and was craving a burger so I stopped by Buckhorn Grill in the Metreon. Wasn't busy at all the people seemed friendly. Ordered the Steakhouse burger and the Krispy chicken sandwich and it didn't diss appoint. The steakhouse burger was cooked a little over medium but it still tasted good. The onion strings and bacon was a perfect combination and very crispy. The Krispy chicken sandwich was cooked almost perfect and wasn't dry. Very flavorful and tasty. This is the first time I have ever eaten at a Buckhorn Grill outside the East Bay so this was quite a treat to see! Located just inside the Metreon situated in the food court. The service was good. The cashier took my order promptly. I ordered a Caesar Pleaser with a fountain drink. The total came up to around $23. It took about seven or so minutes to get my order. They placed it on the plate. I did notice that they didn't put it onto a tray for me so I had to do that for myself. The food was pretty good. I wish the corn bread was warmer but it still tasted like good quality. Meat was warm but not hot. That was a bit of a let down but even so, the meat was delicious especially with the little dipping sauce they gave. This is my first time ordering food here. I can say, I'll be back again. I ordered the tri-tip bites and a side of coleslaw, as well as a cornbread muffin. It was freshly baked, served with a pat of butter I am not normally a coleslaw loving person, but this recipe contains pieces of green apples. It was tasty. I finished it all. The tri-tip bites were the real star, and should be celebrated. They didn't even need salt and pepper to be added, they were well seasoned and so satisfying. The recommended way to order them is medium rare. I agree. The barbecue dipping sauces are not to be missed. Very good. Can't wait to come back again, to try the mac & cheese or one of their salads. The Metreon used to be the place to go to watch a movie and get tasty grub before or after. Now the lower lobby with large variety of cuisines have dwindled down to a few options. Buckhorn Grill is one that I thought would be a solid and satisfying choice. Pros: - Lots of seating in the main courtyard area. - Reasonable pricing for the city. - The salads are a decent size. Cons: - The Bacon Cheddar Burger was small and needed a magnifying glass to find the bacon. The irony that added to the disappointment was that we happened to sit next to a giant wall advertisement with a photo of this supposed burger that had so much cheese and bacon in it that they were falling out. *sigh* - The Impossible Burger was thin and was not as tasty considering the imbalance of patty to bun ratio. - The corn bread muffin should've had "teeny tiny" in front of the name to be more accurate. It looked more like the mini cupcakes you can buy at Safeway. - There were more than a couple handfuls of residentially challenged people using the tables to cuss and bathrooms to wash up, which made the courtyard not as family-friendly or palatable to the senses during dining. - Customer service needed improvement. The cashier didn't seem happy to be there, and the kitchen staff who fulfilled our order forgot an item. Terrible experience! So I came here with my three kids for lunch. I had to repeat my order three times. When the food showed up my burger which was supposed to be s plain bacon cheeseburger had everything on it. I went back up and they were annoyed my order was wrong. Instead of making me a new burger they just attempted to clean it off. When I got it back about 40 seconds later, half of my back was gone, the bun was wiped off and still had sweet sauce all over it, and there were still condiments all over the top of the burger. I never do this but I walked up to the cashier and told them I didn't just $16 for a reworked burger. They did make me another one but when it showed up the bacon was not cooked all the way.
