We were encouraged to try Inca's by a friend as we traveled in Tucson. I'm so glad we listened! The four of us all agreed it was wonderful and different from the usual fair. All four dishes were awesome, but the Aji de Gallina was all of our favorite. Also, don't forget to try the Pico Sour! It is such a smooth and fresh cocktail. We'd never tried Peruvian food before, so it was refreshing to try something new. The service was friendly, and the waitress offered great menu suggestions. As an appetizer, we enjoyed the Yucca fries, which I thought were like a "cousin" to french fries, as they were similar, but different---they were crispy and yummy and were served with a tasty green dipping sauce. For my entree, I decided to go with the Lomo Saltado, which consisted of tender strips of marinated beef in Peruvian spices with onions and tomatos served with rice and potatoes. My date ordered the Aji de Gallina, which is pulled chicken cooked in amarillo and walnuts, served with rice and potatoes. I found this place while perusing random places on Yelp. I thought it looked interesting. So I checked out the menu and read other reviews. It received positive reviews so my partner and I came here for lunch. It was a weekday at noon, so we were the only ones there. Everything on the menu looked so good. We asked our server what he would recommend for new comers. He said the most popular dish was the Lomo Saltado, which is beef marinaded in Peruvian spices. We both got the Lomo Saltado. It came with a cute little side of rice in the shape of a pyramid. (It's actually a good portion of rice). The meat was tender, not overcooked. It paired well with the rice and other vegetables that came with it. My favorite part of the dish, aside from the beef, was the potatoes. They tasted just like fries and they were just so good. I also got a glass of the Chicha Morada, which is a homemade Peruvian beverage made with purple corn, fresh pineapples, apples, and cinnamon. It was amazing. I thought it would be sweet but it wasn't. It was just the right amount of sweet. We didn't get dessert this time, but I would love to go back to try the other dishes on the menu. This is my favorite spot to eat whenever I'm in Tucson! Every time I'm I go to Inca's I'm always greeted with a very warm reception. I had set up a lunch for 10 people on a Monday at 12pm, something made me look at what time they opened, and I'm glad I did because they don't open until 4:00 on Mondays. I called Fatima, the owner, and told her that I had promised 9 colleagues from Sabino Recovery Inca's for lunch and Fatima told me she would be happy to make that happen for me. I came here for the first time a while back craving some goof Peruvian food. When I arrived I ordered takeout: Aji de Gallina, Papa a la Huricaina, and an Inca Kola can. What a treat! We reserved a table (party of 6) and it was ready when we got there on a Saturday evening. Had the bonus of live music and a very festive atmosphere. If you ever had Peruvian food, you won't like their lomo saltado. I was pretty disappointed. It had no flavor. There's only two Peruvian restaurants in Tucson. So I'm not surprised it was not good. This is the best Peruvian restaurant in Tucson hands down! Visited the location last weekend with the family and were genuinely impressed by the food, service and attention given to the family. I don't know why we haven't try this yet until last evening. My wife and I are impressed with their food. The fried corn and fried fish appetizers were great. The was well seasoned, with tender morsels of fish wrapped in a crispy batter. They also give you pieces of the skin fried, which is IMHO even better than the fish. We shared the paella and rotisserie chicken for our main course. The Peruvian paella has plenty of seafood which tasted fresh. Rice is cooked al dente and not mushy. We stopped in at Incas on a Friday night with no reservation. We were seated within minutes despite there being a crowd. Service was outstanding. I was impressed to observe how many of the servers actually were familiar with their customers. The whole place felt like a big family. Everyone was very polite and welcoming. I was told it is family owned and operated and that the recipes were passed down from the mother-in-law in Peru. Despite how busy they were, we received our food fairly quickly. I had the jalea de mariscos and my girlfriend had the pescado a lo macha. We ate so fast I forgot to even take a picture. The food was delicious and hefty in portion size. They even serve these Peruvian nuts to snack on before the food arrives. Try the pisco sour and the pisco passion fruit! Be warned they go down a little too easy. We will be back! We have moved very close to the restaurant when we moved to Tucson and we have been meaning to try it since we moved here. Tonight we went there for the first time and were very impressed. My son-in-law is from Peru and when we go to New York to visit them we eat at or get take out at many different Peruvian restaurants. We all tried three different dishes from the basic Peruvian Pollo a La Brasa (chicken ) dish , to Lomo Salgado (steak stew ) and Arroz Con Mariscos (seafood platter).We shared a shrimp cocktail before dinner with Peruvian sauce to dip in (it was a nice spicy creamy dipping sauce). We also had a couple of different type of Pisco drinks I had a Pisco sour and Kathy had a Maracuya Pisco (passionfruit) to drink. The shrimp cocktail was outstanding as it had a lot of shrimp and the dipping sauce was a little hot but very nice. The Pollo a La Brasa was exactly like we have had in New York when we visit, but with a little more flavor. I've had the Lomo Salgado a few times and this one was much better than the other ones I have had before in NYC. Instead of getting rice and potato I had Quinoa and used a little of the Peruvian hot sauce that they prepare from peppers imported from Peru. Without the hot sauce the quinoa was OK but not great with the hot sauce it was a completely outstanding different dish. The meat was simmered with different types of onions and tomatoes and the broth was very flavorful and outstanding. Tim had the Arroz Con Mariscos (seafood platter) there was a lot of food. Enjoyed it very much and especially the creamy potatoes that came with it. Kathy and I split a Flan for dessert and Tim had a stuffed cookie. Excellent flavor on both of them. The staff was friendly and helpful and especially with Tim who had never been to a Peruvian restaurant before and she explained what the different dishes were and talked about what he liked and suggested the seafood platter. With us, she just asked what we were interested in and help us along with our order. She and the bartender were very friendly and happy and the service was excellent and perfect. I can highly recommend that if you like Peruvian food we're never tried Peruvian food that you come here and you will enjoy the food and the drinks. You will also like the hospitality very much. This a delightful small (10 table) restaurant in a northeast Tucson strip mall. The service was efficient and pleasant. My wife had a dish with marinated beef, rice and potatoes. She said the beef was tender and delicious. I had a Peruvian take on paella. The seafood (calamari,shrimp and mussels) was plentiful mixed in a bed of rice. It was very good. This hidden gem in the foothills could be easily missed in the Basha's shopping center at Kolb and Sunrise. I've eaten here a couple of times and both times didn't disappoint. The Ceviche Mixto is a must-have appetizer. Fresh with fish, shrimp, octopus and some corn, red onion and Peruvian yam, the flavor bursts with the usual citrus, but this particular mixture was enhanced by the sweetness of the yam. My main course was a mixture of fried seafood over a sautéed filet of whitefish. My dining companion had a sautéed whitefish, and both were excellent. Do not skip their white rice served with the entrees. It's probably the best rice I've ever had - it looks like plain white rice, but has loads of flavor with buttery goodness and great flavor. read more

On a leisurely Sunday, I ate at the Inca's Peruvian Cuisine in the Catalina Foothills community because I was craving for ceviche and my absolute favorite Arroz Con Pollo (chicken with flavored rice). With indoor and outdoor seating, I decided to sit inside of this well decorated restaurant with about 10 tables and an open bar. The décor matched the artwork and ambiance of the Peruvian theme. I started off with the colorful Machu Picha cocktail ($8). Made out of Peruvian Pisco (clear liquor), this not only looked pleasing but had a great kick. As a complimentary starter, they included salted cancha (toasted corn snacks) which went perfectly with my drink. My go-to appetizer Ceviche de Pescado ($15) had huge slices of fresh white fish marinated in lime juice and Peruvian rocoto pepper, Peruvian corn kernels and a thick cut slice of yam. As a warning, this is a spicy dish but I'm sure you can order it mild as well. The heat doesn't hit you at first but more of an after burn. Loved it! The red onions added a mild sweetness to the dish. One of the best ceviches I've ever had. Without hesitation, I enthusiastically ordered the Arroz con Pollo a la brasa ($11). The quarter chicken was served with cilantro-infused rice with bell peppers, Peruvian corn, peas and carrots. The waitress asked if I preferred white or dark meat and I choose white because of my dietary constrictions. Unfortunately, it came with skin-on and I had to remove it and was told that's where all the flavor was packed. I was distraught but still ate my chicken with a smile. The rice had a robust cilantro flavor but felt both were slightly on the smaller portion size. The Picante de Mariscos ($19) was a surprise favorite. The spicy generous assortment of seafood was flavor packed in aji amarillo panca suave sauce. There were all sorts of seafood from mussels, calamari to giant shrimps topped off with a scoop of white rice. The sauce was outstanding! I even used my chicken pieces to dip into the sauce. My server, Audrey was so sweet and I felt she went beyond to make sure I was satisfied. She was quick to welcome us and asked if I had any questions. In fact, she was not happy with the original cocktail she made for me because the colors started to blend and made me another as shown in the photo. Overall, the cocktail, appetizer and seafood entrée was a special treat but was extremely disappointed in the Arroz con Pollo. I would definitely come back and order the first three items again and maybe something completely different. They also offered a 10% off order during Yelp check in.
