I had some visitors from out of town and was looking for a unique experience for them. I reached out directly to the owner and recieved the nicest greeting and she was genuinely excited to help with reservations, seating and atomoshere. I could not have been more impressed. The staff and service experience was only surpassed by the meal. The four of us each ordered a different plate and gladly tasted from each one. I am writing this soon after I left the restaurant so I don't forgot how mediocre was the meal. Firstly, the drink menu was extremely limited. They had only two choices for white wine, Pinot and Chardonnay, no Sauvignon Blanc. Only one choice for beer, Heineken and only one choice for red wine, Merlot (at $10 for half a glass). Previously, when we visited this restaurant, we had an excellent experience and were even served corn nuts to snack on (not this time) while we waited. I guess they were cutting down on expenses. To start, we ordered a mixed ceviche dish and lomo saltado which are signature Peruvian dishes we loved when we were in Lima, Peru. We did not wait long to get our food and the waitress was very pleasant. However, things suddenly got worse. The ceviche was tough, and tasteless as was the lomo meat. Even the shrimp tasted like it was never marinated. I can assure you that this food would never be served like that in Peru which has one of the tastiest cuisines in the world. Someone in charge should go check why the quality of the food at this restaurant has deteriorated so much. About the only thing that was good was the pleasant service by its servers. However, that is not enough reason to return there anymore. I certainly would not recommend it to my family or friends. read more

Yes, it was time - to return to Incas Peruvian cuisine in Tucson. It's been quite a while since we've been there and even longer since writing a review. The place is small, so we always make sure we have a reservation. Our dinner group almost takes up half the restaurant ! Service is good as I remember it's usually good. We ordered drinks - beer selection is limited, but ok. For our meal - we split the half pollo a la brasa since one us likes the thigh/leg and the other likes the lighter meat. It comes with a salad and a side of potatoes or rice. We like their potatoes/fries. The pollo (chicken) is rotisserie style so very tender with tons of flavor - excellent ! For about 60 dollars with tip, we got 2 orders of fries, a salad, side of rice, flan dessert, pollo a la brasa meal, and seco de carne con frejoles. The food arrived on time and was still warm. Everything tasted delicious! The salad was fresh and they used a type of dijion dressing. Everything except the french fries had a unique flavor. There was plenty of food and enough for lunch the next day. The chicken was seasoned similar to a rotisserie chicken and was large enough for 2 to 3 people. My favorite dish by far was the seco de carne con frejoles. The beef was melt in your mouth tender and the sauce was flavorful (I could taste cilantro, cumin and garlic). Inca's is such a great gem in Tucson! We came here with our Peruvian friend who guided us in ordering his favorite dishes. Coming from someone who grew up on this cuisine, he assured us that everything we ate was authentic or at least very, very close! He was even able to explain to us in detail how each of the dishes were cooked. The portions were generous and we were able to share the plates family style. For drinks we had a pitcher of the chicha morada (non-alcoholic purple maize drink), and traditional pisco sours which were incredibly strong! We started with the anticuchos (chicken heart appetizer). I was very wary to try this one, but it ended up being my favorite dish. The texture of the meat was indistinguishable from dark meat. I loved the spicy garnish and the fried potatoes on the side. For entrees, we had the lomo saltado mixto, arroz con mariscos (essentially paella), ceviche, and another ceviche-like dish. Everything was delectable and filling but I'd recommend the seafood dishes the most. I was pleased to taste really bold and eccentric flavors in every bite. Service was attentive and we especially appreciated that our server was enthusiastic to give us his personal recommendations. my husband placed an order around 1 pm for a 7 pm pickup. He arrived on time and not only had they 'lost' it, but they didn't have any more of what we ordered. He sat around for almost 1/2 hour and the replacement was just awful. 2 portions of plain white rice. One had some brown sauce on it. The 'main' was some of that brown sauce w/a few pieces of onion, some tomato which didn't seem to have any business being there, a few meager chunks of chicken, and some soggy french fries. The food was excellent. There were 5 in our party, and all the dishes were great. The ambiance was pleasant. The problem was the service. We waited 20 minutes to put in our order, 4 out of 5 of the orders came out 30 minutes later, and one of those was a chicken dish with dark meat instead of the white meat requested. The kitchen or waitress forgot the order for one of our party, and he had to wait an additional 30 minutes for his order. When we paid with credit cards, the waitress mixed up the credit cards and had to redo the charges. There seemed to be plenty of waitresses running around for a restaurant with 15 or so tables, but they were so inept and chaotic that they couldn't get their stuff together to serve a meal without errors in a timely manner. read more

When we told the owner we are vegetarians she right away pointed to vegetarian section in menu and even offered to make couple of other items vegetarian by replacing meat/fish with tofu! Tried "Tacu tacu" and Quinoa and requested them be made spicy. They served right away and it was delicious especially Tacu tacu. Also tried a glass of "Chicha morada." It was a tasty beverage. I would hate to think that people think this is a good example of Peruvian food. I ordered the steak and shrimp lomo saltado. The shrimp was over cooked and no flavor, the rice was over cooked and had no flavor, the sauce had no flavor, the meat was over cooked and no flavor and I think was just a cheap cut of. They seem to have lost it. I looked at the menu online and chose my meal but when I went to order they said that "due to Covid" many dinner options were not available. When I complained they said they needed to update their website and menu, and that it had been 3 years. Bummed, I ordered something else. What a disaster of a dish. It was missing the sauce, was not seasoned, the rice was cold and the vegetables were both cold and unseasoned. Having just come back from a trip to the Land of the Incas, my partner-in-dine and I were still high from the altitude and on coca tea. We simply had to relive the amazing gourmet experience we'd had in Peru. We had bookmarked Inca's Peruvian Cuisine ages ago as a potential gastronomy jaunt and so we finally loosened up our belts (to make room for the food!), put on our walking boots, and headed for a sliver of Peru in northern Tucson. We got there before the ravenous weekend dinner crowd arrived. We started off with an order of Causa Rellena. It was very appetizing and filling. My partner-in-dine then chose the Ceviche Mixto as his main course and I went for the Aji de Gallina. I enjoyed my chicken dish through and through. My heart was flapping its wings in delight while my mouth busied itself with pecking hungrily at the food. The partner-in-dine, on the other hand, was not having the same convulsions of ecstasy as me. He found the ceviche underwhelming and lackluster. To finish off, we ordered Crema Volteada for dessert. The custard flan was sweet and the perfect capper to our meal. Our server was very friendly and courteous although he got a lot on his plate with having to attend to a lot of tables. There were two other servers working but it seemed like our waiter was the one who had to run around and do most of the work. As a result, it was a challenge to catch his attention when we needed something or wanted the bill. I almost forgot to mention that the partner-in-dine also ordered a Pisco Sour. Came to eat with some coworkers for a fast lunch. The server was great and was able to get our orders in very quickly with the food following after as a large group was coming in after us. Tried the recommended dishes from Guy Fieri's DDD of the lomo saltado and seco de carne. We split them between us with the lomo saltado being the best as the beef was flavorful and paired well with the sauce and crispy french fries. The other recommended dish the seco de carne wasn't quite as good, a little on the dry side tasting like more like a beef stew. As for the ceviche it was very fresh with a nice crunch from the red onion on the side. Definitely recommend getting the chicha morada to drink, can come in a pitcher for a group! The roasted corn starter was tasty. The $17 Ceviche had 3 very good shrimp strategically blanketed on the plate with some onions on top and a couple bites of fish. But as you dug into the pile, it was mostly tough squid. Glorified fish bate. We left all of it and told our waitress, Viviana. She admitted it was rubbery, and took a measly 1.70 off our bill, not that I was even asking for that. 10% off of what was over 50% of the entree. Viviana was a good waitress, but I guess she was taught to placate me with a 10% off of the entree price, let alone to whole bill. I would have preferred 3 more shrimp. Camaron. I love good clear shrimp. My dad told me about a trip to Hawaii, and a lagoon that had a bunch of sea urchins, and shrimp feedin on something. And this was in a national park! Called City of Refuge in 1975. They later changed it to some Hawaiian name. SometimeI want some amazing salmon in fresh clean water vs this china stuff where they have put antiviral in the water, because they're in such close quarters, and swimming around in they're poop. and thats gross. At that point, they're tryna be cheap at my risk. And shrimp are recyclers too. Hydrogen Nitrogen Protein cycle, and carbon cycle. If were so worried about carbon, we could develop techniques to suck it all out of the air. Plants absorbed it and they caused coal and oil, so that means it was up in the atmosphere before all that. Anyways, The shrimp here were excellent. I don't know why you would even serve the squid tho. That's my gripe. I just ruined it. Why would you serve something that your own waitress said it had a weird texture. No flavor. Kind of reminds me of a condom. I mean the whole thing is fucking wierd. The sweet potato thing was good. Didn't care for the cold corn bites. The drink my dad had with their peruvian alcohol and lime that was amazing. The signature dish, that Guy Fierie had, was fine. Beans were good. Rice was good. Meat was like a glorified pot roast. Flavor was great. A few bites were a little cool. So whats that tell you? They're not making it like they were the day for Guy Fieri. It probably wasn't made fresh that day. Its best right from the oven. I don't like it cooled down and then heated back up. But I understand, you cant make that to order, so its got to be made in advance. We were there kinda early. And its probably fine heated up too. Some stuff gets better with a couple days. Let the stuff kind of marriage. The microbes breakin it town. Making it more tender for our bodies. And more delicious as a result. Like aged beef. Or ceviche. Without time it would be just raw fish with vinegar on it, its not the same. But as we intently watched the pot roast being prepared for Guy Fieri to eat, they were pullin it fresh from the oven. read more

In our party of 4, the ladies had the Pisco Sour and the men ordered the Pisco Mules. The Peruvian brandy in the sour was a delight but the overall flavor profile was a little too sweet for my taste buds. Collectively, the Mule was the winner and we had a second round. I shared the Ensalada de quinoa as an appetizer. The grains were perfectly cooked and the tomatoes were light and refreshing but the lime vinaigrette was too sour and overpowering. I had the Tofu Saltado as my main course. Our waitress made an honest mistake of accidentally serving the Tacu Tacu. She promptly replaced it with the Tofu Saltado and partially compensated our check. Honestly, I wish I had kept the Tacu Tacu because I was disappointed with the Tofu Saltado. The sautéed veggies were seasoned well with a blend of Peruvian spices. However, they were served on pasta that was more like spaghetti noodles than linguine and smothered in (soy?) sauce. In a blind taste test, if it weren't for the spices, then I would have guess it was Chinese takeout. Maybe I don't have an experienced Peruvian palate but even outside of the food, my overall experience left a lot to be desired, especially for a birthday celebration. This is my favorite spot to eat whenever I'm in Tucson! Every time I'm I go to Inca's I'm always greeted with a very warm reception. I had set up a lunch for 10 people on a Monday at 12pm, something made me look at what time they opened, and I'm glad I did because they don't open until 4:00 on Mondays. I called Fatima, the owner, and told her that I had promised 9 colleagues from Sabino Recovery Inca's for lunch and Fatima told me she would be happy to make that happen for me.
