Excellent. We've ordered take out several times. It's very good. Pick up was ready on time. Good was hot and fresh. Each dish we had was good. Chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken. Few different naans. Indo-Chinese was great. The only thing to keep in mind the portion sizes are small. For example the number of kofta in the curry were very few. I have tried some pretty good Indian Buffets so far, but so far, this is my favorite of them all. This restaurant is located in a small, quiet little commercial strip along the main road surrounded by office buildings and a residential area just a block away. I loved how it was quiet, easy to find, without the hustle and bustle of other larger commercial shopping centers where you have to deal with crowds and fights for parking spaces.....of course, when came early at around 11am before the busy lunch hour, so this may explain why it was so nice and quiet, having the whole place pretty much to ourselves. The restaurant is a good size, clean, and casual. The service from the moment we stepped in was very good....the servers were very friendly, polite, and it was clear that they aimed to please. Ok, so, this place is a lunchtime buffet place with menu ordering at dinnertimes only....from what I was told by the server. I had wanted to try their Dosa (giant lentil crepe), but was told it's only available at dinner time. Lunch time is strictly buffet only. No problem....I'm sure there would be more than enough yummy food from the buffet to fill us up. The buffet has a good selection of many popular India dishes, and some I'd never heard of or seen before. I basically selected my items based on the food I was familiar with......since most food items were not labeled in English. You just grab a plate, scoop whatever tickles your taste bud and stomach fancy, and go back to your table and go at it. Shortly after, the server brings out a freshly made basket of hot, steamy, and delicious Naan bread. Everything was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious....I particularly loved their Saag Paneer (puréed spinach with cubes of goat cheese).......this always goes so well with the naan. The meat and vegetable curries were just perfectly on the spot in terms of flavor, spiciness, consistency, with meats tender and juicy. The only complaint I would have would be the fried vegetable fritters.....they were a bit salty. Besides that, the other dishes were much less salty than the food from any other Indian buffet I have ever tried......which was a plus for us as we are low sodium diners. We were very happy with the quality of the buffet, the very nice service, and pleasant interior decor.....ok, when we first entered the restaurant, the very nice server noticed we were looking for a quiet section to sit in as the wall mounted TV was blasting very loud above, so he offered to turn it down or off....nice. This is hands down THE BEST Indian food I have EVER eaten. Every single dish was intensely rich with flavor and spice. I love Indian food and go as often as possible, and this is the spot I have begun to recommend to everyone I know. The servers are, honestly, the kindest people I have ever encountered. They were so polite and attentive to their guests. Everything was made fresh, resulting in a bit of a wait which I find worth it. The rice portion may look small but it is refillable upon request. Aloo Paratha Pros: Large & Looks edible Cons: Texture of the paratha itself, almost no potato which wouldn't make a difference, bc it didn't taste edible without or without. The dough itself was really off. Mango Lassi: I've noticed a few Indian restaurants these days making it like India Gate which is by using some artificially flavored and colored mango powder with milk - and who knows if it's even milk. Traditional mango lassi is pretty simple, take a mango, yogurt, sugar or honey, and milk & blend it. Pro for this one: Tastes sweet Cons: It's not actual mango lassi so we didn't drink it. Sweet chicken and corn soup: Basically a corn chowder - pros: taste like a chowder...cons: from a can Gulab jamun: Now, I can't eat these from anywhere typically even if it's bad. When ordered, it comes in 3. Pros: It wasn't overly sweet and the texture was mostly soft Cons: It didn't taste right, couldn't have been made fresh that day, and in the one I barely ate, there was a hard dough piece inside, like it had been reheated in the microwave and one part got overdone. I seriously have a love hate relationship with this place. I absolutely love everything and hate that I can't eat here more often since I live in L.A County. I've been here a couple times during their lunch buffet which I believe was around $15.99-ish but well worth it. I honestly don't know the names of the various dishes they had out but they're all really great. I highly suggest coming to their AYCE lunch so you can sample what fancies you and what doesn't. An easy five stars for me. I don't know how I overlooked this Tustin gem for so long. They use fresh, quality ingredients and prepare each dish more or less perfectly from my perspective. My favorites: - Chicken Tikka Masala - Butter Chicken (I got seconds of this) - Tandori Chicken - Chicken Curry When they ask you if you want Naan, say yes. This review is specifically for the lunch buffet. We used to eat at this lunch buffet nearly twice a month, it used to have such a good selection, value and service, BUT that was before COVID and that was also before they raised the buffet price ($16 per person at the time of this writing) and then cut the buffet size by less than half the selection. We visited for the first time in over a year to see if our favorite buffet was still the same and it was not. I hate to say it but we won't be returning for a long time unless the buffet improves and definitely not if the buffet price is the same. The food itself did not taste the same, some items were dried up and hard. Service was spotty, there was just one person serving everyone in the restaurant (someone else came out to help about 20 min later), and he was the same one serving the food so he didn't come to check on us more than once. It's unclear why they are not self serve as we were at a couple hotel buffets nearby that were complete self serve, but having someone serve is not really convenient and makes for a longer wait time. With only a few people in line, it can take a while to get your food. When we used to come for lunch this place was almost 90-100% full, I remember people had to wait for a table, but this past visit (in July), there was only 2 occupied tables (10% full) near the peak 12pm time on a weekday. This partly explains the dry and old food. For any buffet, you don't want only a few customers because there's no incentive for them to refresh the buffet food. I suppose some restaurants think customers are willing to pay a lot more than pre-COVID prices, but for this type of buffet and service, it's really not worth much more than the $11 it was before. Really disappointed and sad that we have to find another place to satisfy our Indian buffet craving and habit. read more

For the longest time, this has been our go-to for Indian AYCE in the area for price and quality. On our last visit, we saw the price jump to $17.99, which is still a decent price. However, I felt the quality and service have declined some since. Our naan bread was delivered to our table near the end of our dining which was nearly 30 minutes. I recently tried Masala Bae, and the service and quality of the food seem to get better with each visit there. It is a $1 more for the AYCE offering but I believe it is very well worth it. When I think of Indian lunch buffets, it brings back good memories of precovid times when my broworkers and I would make a quick lunch runs. Lunch buffets are great since they food is already prepared so we can all start eating, and get back to the office. India Gate recently reopened their lunch buffet ($14/lunch). This is possible by enforcing face mask while not at the table, and having their staff scooping your buffet items instead of self serve. Despite their significant price increase compared to the Indian Buffet average lunch cost (approx $10.99), their buffet selection is cut down to half. They did not have many options to choose from. Garlic Naan Bread - Needs more garlic. The bread was definitely more soft than crispy, but still decent. Aloo Gobi - Potatoes and Cauliflower. Pretty good. Tandoori Chicken - Really hidden and covered with foil in the buffet area. Both the leg I got on my first round and the thigh I got on my second round were smaller than average and dry. Other places make this better. Chicken Tikki Masala - I actually really liked the sauce. The sauce was great to dip with the bread and the dry tandoori chicken. Then actual chicken pieces from the chicken tikki masala was tough. On my second round I said the sauce only please. The thing I usually enjoy about Indian lunch buffets is the variety, but I did not feel this freedom here since their choices were so limited. And they did not have labels for all of their items. The few labels they had were not legible. Since their staff is not serving the food, and getting the checks. I had to wait for quite a while at the door to pay for my meal. All of the waiting took away any efficiency I gained from eating pre-cooked food. I personally would not come back for a subsequent visit since the food was at best average and selection was so limited while cost increased significantly. read more

By 12:15 there was zero seats available due to all the businesses close by. Line to get more food was out the door! I couldn't be made because the food is just that good. This Indian place delivers quality food. They also have a huge section for indo Chinese dishes! I haven't been able to eat in the restaurant, only have gotten delivery! They are letting you to dine in, but there is no buffet available.We ordered three dishes trough DoorDash and - they arrived very quickly, packaged well. My favorite dish here the mushroom masala. The gravy in the mushroom curry was perfect. It was spicy, creamy, had a amalgamation of spices. Chicken 65 is also great! I haven't been able to find a place that makes chicken 65 the right way. Many of the Indian places around here, make it wet and don't know what the dish even is. The chicken 65 here is pretty good! This past weekend, my brother invited my mom and I to eat at India Gate. It was my first time going, and I'm so glad I tagged along! The food was delicious, and I loved that they had so many options for those who are vegetarian. I'm personally not vegetarian, but my mom is so to see they had so many options for her was really nice. Not many restaurants cater to those who are vegetarian, but India Gate definitely does. I personally ended up eating more of the vegetarian options than the meat options and did not miss the meat one bit. The vegetarian options were just as satisfying, if not more satisfying than their meat filled counterparts. The fresh Naan was also SO delicious! It was fresh and so soft. It paired perfectly with all the food they had to offer. The best part is it's unlimited so you can have all the Naan your heart desires. I personally had a good couple of pieces and do not regret it one bit. To top off the delicious food, I had some of their mango pudding, which had mixed fruit in it. It was the perfect way to wrap up an already delicious meal. I have to admit, it was so good I had two servings of it. Sorry, not sorry. Once you taste it, you'll understand why I loved it so much. With that said, if you love Indian Food and are on the fence about trying India Gate, don't be. I say try it at least once. I'm sure you won't be disappointed by the food or service. The establishment itself isn't anything fancy, but the food is SO good, I could care less. The restaurant may not be Instagram worthy, but the food sure is. There was not one thing I tried that I didn't like. Every single thing was delicious. I highly recommend it. And for $15.99 per person for all you can eat, you cannot complain! While this place is an Indo-Chinese restaurant, I have only tried a few standards: Butter chicken (19), Goat Curry (21) and Garlic Naan (4). All dishes tasted great with a very mild degree of spice in the butter chicken and goat curry. The service was quick and the dishes were a good size. Overall, the flavors of the lamb vindaloo were good but it just missed the mark on how spicy I like my Indian food so this will not be my go to for lamb vindaloo however, one major plus was that rice is included in the price for the entree so we didnt have to order it. I came in with a friend to eat at their lunch buffet for $16.99. We were the first ones there as she warned me the crowds can get pretty busy. I was a little embarrassed filling my plate and disrupting the perfect assortment but my hunger quickly dissipated that feeling. My first plate consisted of samosas, eggplant, tikka masala, biryani, and pakoras. There truly is nothing more delightful than an endless supply of all the listed items. Everything was so delicious and fresh and if the mild wasn't spicy enough - they do provide free range of red onions and serrano peppers. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without the garlic naan. The service was good and attentive and they wre generous with the water when I bit off more than I could chew. I really enjoyed everything I had and I'm mad I only had 2 plates! I only had 2 samosas!
