Never would have guessed that some of the best Indian food I've ever tasted would be located out in the desert! The food was excellent! We ordered a few dishes and appetizers and we managed to finish it all! Vegetable Samosas - delicious especially when you drown it in their sauces! Tandoori Chicken Wings - the best "wings" appetizer I've ever had Garlic Naan- a must have! Chicken Tikka Masala, Sag Paneer, Lamb Vindaloo - to die for The staff was great. They were always checking on our table, our glasses were always full and they managed to keep my son entertained the whole time. Wow, had a taste for a curry this evening and I can safely say this is the worst food experience I have ever had in Santa Fe. Dashing Delivery was great but the food was the saltiest I have ever had and both my wife and I had to throw out our Samosas, Saagwala, and Mattar as they were completely inedible, even the rice was over-salted. Hubby and I eat here all the time with our spawn. It's always delicious, but we can't afford it as much as we used to be able to. However, when we get the chance we eat here. The service is always great and the staff know us well now. We have eaten here once for the buffet, which I don't recommend, as there isn't much variety, I prefer to eat at another Indian place for the buffet. The food is so delicious though, we always order reshmi chicken, palak paneer and basmati rice with garlic naan. We will sometimes order chicken mahkni and the tandoori chicken. For desert we usually have Gulaab Jamun, which is the best. Love it here. Wish we could afford to eat her more often! read more

This place was great. After a few days in Santa Fe my family was asking for something other than SouthWest cuisine (as delicious as it is) and Indian food is always a family favorite. Food was good, service was excellent and prices are really fair. My favorite Indian dish is lamb vindaloo but I opted for the eggplant tonight and it was so tasty. A great option for those who are afraid of spice. The hubs had chicken tikka masala, which he liked but he wished he had asked them to kick up the spice a bit. The first thing you read in the menu is this piece of paper telling you the extra charges and rules if you decide to split, change o explanation about charges of 30% for parties of 8 of more. I had the chicken Tika Masala and it was perfect. My friends and I got a ton of food for a very reasonable price. We even ordered desert! The rice pudding was amazing; a must if you eat there. Service....what service? The waiter took our order with an attitude, never came back to service the table and on top of that we had to pay a mandatory 20% service charge because we were a table of 4. I feel sorry for the other table. They weren't service either and they were a table of 6 which mean they were charged 30% service charge. No wonder they don't care about servicing the tables. Regardless they get their tips. What a ripoff. On a better note, the food was pretty decent. For a quick dinner it was worth it. Next time we will have to order to go. TERRIBLE ! After being a patron of this restaurant for 17+ years, and enjoying the high standard of service & the quality of food, the last couple of dinners there, were terrible. This place has really gone downhill, maybe a new chef or new ownership, either way the quality of service & of the food have really become lousy, and its not cheap. Chicken is bland & dry, doesn't seem fresh,( lunch leftovers perhaps ?) tika marsala's are too thick & heavy and flavorless, with only 3 or 4 small pieces of dry chicken in it, but please don't bring this to the attention of the 'smarmy' busboy, at the front desk, as you will be rudely insulted, so enter at your own risk ! My family & I wont be going back there... , your better off microwaving a frozen Indian meal from the supermarket, I'm sure you will have far better tasting meal, and much nicer service. read more

The India Palace served the worst meal I've ever had in Santa Fe. The Tandoori Chicken and the Chilean Sea Bass were both indicated as cooked in a Tandoor. Instead the food was close to boiled, and without the distinctive flavoring of Tandoor. In addition, the Chilean Sea Bass, consisted of three pieces of fish and the price was an outrageous $39.99. But the on-line menu indicates the price as $29.99. The Peas Pilao was rice without a hint of peas. The kitchen staff merely served the rice without assembling the dish as indicated. This restaurant is a disgrace in the heart of the tourist area of Santa Fe. read more

The food was pretty good over all. We got one of the combination plates with different meat dishes to share so we could try a few things. This was a couple weeks ago so I forget what we ordered exactly. I remember the chicken was good, but the lamb was really tough and chewy. It seemed like they were probably better at the vegetarian part of the meal than the way they cooked the meat itself. I'd probably order Palak Paneer (creamed spinach with cheese) which is what I normally order at Indian restaurants, but I wanted to try something new. The location was hard to find and we actually thought it was in the indoor mall/plaza next to it at first. Finally we went out a door and spotted it across the parking lot. We are from Taos though and don't know Santa Fe that well. The service was good and it had a very authentic feel, but the table itself was small for all the dishes they tried to fit on it. They do cloth napkins and all the extra servings. I would have traded more space for less fanciness. It still has a casual feel though and I didn't feel out of place in jeans. I think it is worth trying for the food. I didn't expect to find decent Indian in New Mexico. read more

Family owned and operated businesses are harder to come by, and need to be supported! India Palace is that family business in the heart of Santa Fe. The Singh family take pride in their service and the quality of the food they serve. I travel for work and stay in SF every few months. My last visit I asked a local where to eat Indian food and he recommended India Palace. I have been back several times and my experience has been exactly the same. Excellent Chicken Tiki Masala and a warm greeting from the owner's Son and I assume the manager of the restaurant. The new management are completely different and really don't have it together. They are indifferent and the food reflects this. Painful slow service with no apologies. These were the rudest people we ever had to deal with, took forever to get the attention of a waiter, and then took another 25 min for the water, we were treated so badly it was a sad experience compounded with the mediocre food. Waiter basically threw the dish on the table, just plopped it down like a dead carcass. I think a manger or someone in charge (I believe they are all family from the old mean woman to the servers) saw what was happening and tried to soften the damage, but it was way too late. Patroned this place while visiting Santa Fe. We stopped in the other night and grabbed a few appetizers and naan to-go. They were delicious so we figured we'd have it for dinner tonight (take-out again). Were going to spend a good deal of money here... but then were asked if we'd like rice. We said, "Isn't that included? It says on the menu online (the one here on Yelp) that 'All The Dishes & Entrees Served With Basmati Rice Served Mild, Medium Or Hot As Ordered'". The man on the phone said they were under new owners or something and now rice is a separate item. On principle, we said absolutely not. I have never eaten at an Indian restaurant before which charges extra for rice with an entree that's already $12. They lost our business because of this. read more

I was suckered in dining at this place by the reviews on this site. We arrived around 5:15 (early as we were attending the Santa Fe Opera that night) and were served poor quality papadam and chutney. The bored and surly maitre D took our order and 15 minutes later chuney and raita came out, followed by nan. No main courses, meat or vegies. One hour after we entered the empty restaurant food came. Uniformly mediocre to poor. I have not had worse bhangan bharta (eggplant), and the tandoori was mostly overcooked. The wait staff never apologized for the delays or explained them, Indifference and hostility was the attitude of the day. My husband and I ate take-out here last night and were extremely pleased. The staff were all very friendly, the food came out quickly and it was AMAZING. I have celiac disease and therefore am on a strict gluten-free diet; I asked if the chicken korma (always a favorite of mine at any Indian restaurant) was gluten-free and was told with certainty that it was. They wrapped my husband's nan up separately to prevent cross-contamination, and it passed the most important test of me not getting sick 2 hours later! I signed up on Yelp just so that I could write this review. A short summary- * My family orders a 7 items of the menu * 4 items show up after 1 hour of waiting with no sort of apology * They claimed that they served us everything we ordered * We proved them that they didn't serve it all by showing our table to the manager which just 4 bowls. * The bills comes up, and surprise surprise. It has all the fudging items we ordered, and we obviously disputed, but they took just one item off the bill like they were being charitable and threatened to call the cops on us. My uncle decided to be easy about the whole situation and paid the whole damn thing. P.S : They decided to add a 20% gratuity to the bill before we even got a chance to pay the bill. We were half hungry and felt super disrespected. Good decent indian lunch buffet near santa fe downtown!

We had the lunch buffet last Saturday here and enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. One young man, who must have been the manager or assistant manager, visited with us for a few minutes and when he learned that I enjoy cooking Indian food told me about how some of the food was cooked. We enjoyed the saag paneer very much and the naan that was served with the food was delicious as well. We would highly recommend India Palace to anyone who enjoys wonderful Indian food. read more

Was told by, who some reviewers call the owner's son, that what I thought of ordering would be laughed at in India. The appetizer was really lackluster. Not authentic at all. Main dish had 3 cubes of paneer in it. But I didn't complain. Would agree with one review that appetizer could be frozen. Waiter insisted I pay up front and when I looked into the kitchen both cooks were on their phones even with a few customers. Once i paid there was no thank you or come again as I left. So I tried the frozen dinner test comparison. One frozen Indian entree with paneer cheese at home. There was abundantly more cheese and better texture, softness. I could have saved myself having to run home to use the bathroom and $20 by going to the market. Yes, the word is the frozen dinner happens to be better quality than this place that calls itself a restaurant. And rumor has it that they won't be around for too much longer. read more
