I came into Inkmonkey as a first time walk-in customer. I wasn't sure if they were crazy busy but I took my chances and walked in. It was on a Friday afternoon and hardly no customers were there. In fact, I was their first customer of the day, so I got lucky with how quick the process took. Marcus and Giuseppe were the guys who made my vision come to life. They did such a phenomenal job and I can't thank them enough for doing such an outstanding job on me. Marcus did the sketching on his sketch pad. The outline was above and beyond what I had expected. He had an appointment he needed to attend to with another customer right when he was about to work on me, so Giuseppe took over and worked his magic with the ink. Got a tattoo from Scoob. I first went in to replace an earring that fell out, and decided while I was there to get a new tattoo. I love this tattoo, it means a lot to me to have it. Scoob did a great job at showing me different fonts and helping me pick one out. We also discussed covering up 2 tattoos or incorporating some of the old tattoos into a new tattoo. I went there to get a tattoo and red ink on my neck when I left the tattoo place it was dark red the second day after I got it the tattoo and ink had completely faded to wear the word wasn't recognizable and I'm literally looked like nothing was there if you know that the ink is going to lighten up then you should tell the customer that before they get a tattoo or better yet as a tattoo artist just switch to a better grade of ink cost me $250 this is the second time it's happened at the shop I'm so completely pissed Pink monkey sucks don't ever f****** go there it's ridiculous that they know the ink fades like that they don't switch to a better ink and yet they don't tell the customer and they charge an outward just price they should be shut down read more

Amazing experience... once again! Thank you TWOHAWKS! I keep coming back to this location simply because TWOHAWKS is here. I did a walk-in for a consultation about my infected dermal septum piercing. After 9 months of this piercing it all of a sudden started to pus and swell. My fault!! No issues with the piercing before. I wanted to get a opinion on how to proceed - remove or keep. This walk i consultation took 1 hr and not a single moment did i feel like he was rushing the process. Not only did he remove my dermal and made the process as pleasant as possible even tho my piercing was literally so deep in the skin. He was very understanding with any pain i had - making sure i had breaks during the process. He totally understood my pain and reassured me that i was doing well. He spent 15 minutes draining the pus and cleaning the area. Such a amazing experience. I am loyal to TWOHAWKS and will follow him to any location he may go. I 100% recommend him!!! This piercing and tattoo shop was amazing, all the staff there was so nice it was my first face piercing (I got a nostril piercing) and was definitely a little bit nervous but the staff definitely helped me get less nervous, I really appreciated it, this piercing surprisingly hardly hurt, I can't say it didn't hurt because all piercings hurt but in my opinion it hurt the same maybe less than my lobes, the piercer was amazing and a really nice dude, he gave me warning of when it was coming but still when pretty fast, I love this shop and will definitely come again soon!! And the prices weren't too bad, I got the second smallest size in my nose piercing and the jewelry was $50 and the service was $40 we ended up giving $10 tip so $100 total!! I have gotten three tattoos at Ink Monkey by three different artist. Allnwere amazing. I went yesterday to get a very special piece done and was lucky enough to have Giuseppe understand the importance and the emotional connection to the piece. I viewed his work before I booked my appointment with him and loved his use of color. He does amazing work. Everyone there was super nice. The shop is clean and well organized. All the equipment is new and sterilized. They cover all the necessary after care and even provide a card with the information (it's also available on their website). I'm already planning my next visit. Only downside street parking only but in that area is normal and Ink Monkey has no control over that. read more

Review for a walk in cartilage piercing: Other than one of the tattoo artists who worked on my friend, everyone was so incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. I've never set foot in an establishment where everyone seemed so annoyed to have to interact with customers. I got a cartilage piercing and the piercer barely spoke a word to me despite my attempts. He gave me zero after care advice even when I inquired and sold me an incredibly overpriced $5 travel size dial gold hand soap (in hindsight it was my error for trusting him and purchasing it). I believe it ended up being around $80-90 for the piercing and the earring (and a 20% tip that I greatly regretted later). All three of us who ended up getting cartilage piercings had issues with bumps, swelling, and discharge close to 9 months later. We ended up going to a different piercer who let us know that we should have been notified to downsize a few months later (we were never told that) and gave us great care and my piercing is finally starting to heal. read more

I recently visited this location with 8 of my cousins. Don't expect to get a warm welcome here. Artists were short and seemed annoyed that we came in. It made the experience stressful and nerve wrecking (first timer here). When asked what was wrong the response was "it's been a slow day". The work (the most important part) was good and efficient. Shop was extremely clean. It would have been nice leave with or have been told some "take care" information but again staff was rude. (Thank goodness for Google). Got 4 upper ear lobe piercings here. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. Currently, it seems like it's walk-in only for the piercings. Not sure if that's going to change. There were about 3-4 people ahead of me. I think one group had a bunch of people so we waited around 1 and a half hours. I believe TwoHawks was their main body piercer. He was really nice and seemed knowledgeable. They use needle (generally safer method). I got 2 piercings on each side. For all 4 piercings, plus 4 titanium jewelry pieces, it was around $200. If you bring cash, you get a slight discount from the card charges. Would definitely recommend them for piercings. I'd just show up when it's not busier, so it's not a long wait. read more

This review is much overdue... I had my tattoo done by Mekaya back in Feb this year and then life happened. Anyway, for those who know, I'm a designer... and I really put a lot of thought and research in my then design tattoo. I stalked and research numerous tattoo artists all over LA and thankfully, my fellow yelpers... I found Mekaya! I really wanted someone who knew their typography... lines and watercolor since my tattoo would consist of something water. I reached out to Mekaya through her personal site, scheduled a consultation (1 month) so if you're interested, book a consultation soon! I met with her and was in awe of her (considering I instragram stalked her art) and ran the tattoo idea to her. I didn't want to be that artist or designer that designed my own tattoo, I'm a big proponent of artist letting their art speak for themselves. All I asked Mekaya was to include my favorite typographer fonts... (William Caslon for those who were wondering) I gave her my deposit and on we schedule for the final date. The day of the tattooing... I was nervous... excited and worried that my skin was going to get irritated and rashy (based on previous tattoos). Her station was in the back which I liked, more privacy and a chance to get to see her do her magic. She was very light on the hand... caring... and honestly... I was blown away when she did the typography in my ankle. As typography geek... wow. I believe our session was less than an hour... I think... it didn't seem that long. She was precise and it was amazing to see her do the waves. Overall... my third tattoo was the charm indeed. Proud of the design that she created and most definitely proud of its significance for myself. AND... one of my friend just got her tattoo done by Mekaya and another one next month. if you're OCD in lines and typography and water and everything else art... Mekaya is it for you. I got a piercing here five years ago.. The people that work here take their jobs seriously, care about your comfortability level, and sanitization. They care to give you what you want. I got another one three weeks ago by "Two hawks". He is very professional and walks you through the steps and the jewelry. He cares about what you want. I just had a horrible experience in San Diego at "chronic tattoo" with a different piercer. Do not go there.I just got an antibiotic shot and have to take antibiotic pills now. I really wish I waited for "two hawks" to do my piercing, because I trust him and the way he handles business.
