We have been coming here once a week for years. We have been ordering via takeout/delivery about twice a month since Covid. Every. Single. Time. The order has been wrong. So we stopped ordering takeout from them the last month or so. We called to see if we could order and eat outside and they said yes so we were very excited to go. Unfortunately. They make you go inside to order which defeats the purpose of calling and asking if we could sit outside. The worst part is that their server does not wear a mask. I thought all restaurants were required to. We have been social distancing for months and it made us really uncomfortable for someone to get so close to us as to put our food on our tables and talk to us while not wearing a mask. This is our third restaurant out in 2 weeks. The other two restaurants the servers wore gloves and masks for our protection. We would love to encourage this small business, but unfortunately since this restaurant is not requiring its staff to wear masks for their customers protection... we won't be coming here anymore. It's not a risk we are willing to take. There any many many other restaurants that can use our financial support and are taking basic recommended precautions to help keep their customers safe. read more

1 star for food & service tonight. First 2 times eating here was great in service & food. Tonight was terrible. Soda drinks brought with no straws offered, (I don't drink out of the glasses), soup ordered was luke warm at best, one order for 1/4 dark chicken came with wing & 1/2 breast, (DUH), another order was not as described, couldn't get a soda refill as waitress disappeared so we had to go ask for it, and to top this off we were not asked if we wanted anything else but the bill. Really great food. Really great service. The food tends to run on the hotter side, so if you like spicy then this is your spot. The inside is cute and this would be a great spot to take a date. Definitely worth giving them a try. The huacina pasta is fantastic. read more

During this pandemic we have not been getting take out but wanted something special for dinner last night so we decided to order something from Inka Grill. We have never ordered from them before but are very familiar with Peruvian food and were craving it. We placed our order via phone and when my partner went to pick it up, NO ONE in this restaurant was wearing masks or gloves or practicing social distancing and the woman who gave him our order told him to "come on in and don't worry about wearing a mask, it's not required here." I have an autoimmune condition and have been being especially careful to follow all the guidelines. Businesses that don't respect the guidelines and in fact purposefully disregard them are putting our community at unnecessary risk and should raise alarm bells for everyone. If places like Home Depot and Trader Joe's can sanitize carts, require masks and provide hand sanitizer to their customers, why in the world would a RESTAURANT not want to make their customers feel confident in the food they are preparing and selling??? I will NOT BE GOING BACK THERE and recommend others who care about their healthy and being responsible citizens to avoid them as well. I have been here three times, since my mom lives down the street. First time, really pretty good. I always have the roasted chicken, because it was so good the first time. Second time was noticeably worse and the chicken was very dry. The third time, my mother and I went in at 5:30.....5:30 P.M. and I ordered the whole chicken, because I like to take some home. The waitress, who was not very pleasant came back and said " we only have one half chicken left, you want it?" WTH? A place known for its chicken doesn't even have any? Well that was not the topper, the waitress ( a little more aged then the others there) seemed VERY annoyed when I asked to see the menu again. Like I was inconveniencing her. I have ordered two parihuelas and one picante de camarones (shrimp) not only they were impossible to eat because how spicy they were but also no flavor at all. I have tried this place in the past several times & there is no place for redemption they go from bad to WORSE. if the spiciness of food would come from the peruvian chile it would be tasty and aromatic but is just black pepper incredible amounts of black pepper. Pitiful, I always wander how come they could ruin dishes so simple to make. maybe we have a kitchen with NO COOKS just dishwashers & busboys running the operation by recipe . What can I say, I love the green sauce they serve with the bread while you wait. If you haven't tried it, you need to try the aguadito soup. The beef saltado with the green beans and the aji de gallina are dishes to try as well. read more

Some of the dishes are ok such as their chowder, but some dishes leave room for improvements such as the lomo Saltado. The service is hit or miss depending on volume of customers. The main problem for me with this place is that sometimes the price on the menu doesn't reflect prices on your bil that you get charged. Extremely disappointed. I have been to this location and the waiters and waitresses have always been mediocre...not really interested or welcoming, but not mean or rude. My fiance and I felt like Peruvian food and were in the area, so we stopped by at 8:30pm, knowing (and double checking) that Inka Grill (in Lake Forest) closed at 9pm. The staff LIED and told us they were closed already...even though there was another party in the restaurant, doors were open, lights on, and the tv was on. I asked the waitress "I thought you closed at 9?" and she hesitated, looked nervous, looked at the kitchen staff, and then said "oh...no...umm..we're closed." Totally lied. So disappointed. Go to the location in Costa Mesa instead...the Lake Forest staff aren't worth dealing with. I'm VERY disappointed and will not be returning. I will go to the Hat across the street where the staff is friendly and wont close early and lie to their customers. read more

Went during rush hour, service was great and yes the ahí sauce was on each table at room temp; but that sauce is ridiculously good that I'm sure they run out quickly and refill. Just brought my dad here today for lunch. The Aji is on point. As for the food, the lomo saltado was OK, the papa LA hucaina did not taste like its supposed to. Their Aji Gallina is more Americanized as the waitress described it. Overall I was not impressed with their food. It's very difficult to find a legit Peruvian food these days. read more

The Peruvian heritage was clearly evident in the menu and offers customers a humble piece of Peru. I only had two Peruvian dishes in my life so this review is based on those. I got the Saltados! Yes I said Salt-a-dos, which translates to two salts....Naw I am just kidding. I have no clue what it means, but I do know it was f*ckin delicious! The plate was about 11.95ish. You get a scoop of rice, beef, potatoes, onions, tomatoes...I would definitely recommend this dish. I was not too heavy to where you get the itis but not too lite like you feel like a little girl that ate a salad. In addition to, the girl who works there BEAUTIFUL. All i have to say is WOW!!! My very first time having Peruvian food and I absolutely love it. All the spices, all the flavors, sooo delicious. I had Raul's Macho Fish with Halibut. A huge slab of halibut over potatoes with shrimp and squid on top all smothered in a green tomato onion puree sauce. It was to die for. They also have this green squeeze bottle of hot sauce that you dip your bread in that is equally as tasty and good. Beware though it has a sharp bite to it! I must say I will definitely go back for a repeat visit and try something else. This place is a hidden gem and I highly recommend it! read more

Mmm! We love to go here with a large group and munch on their fresh white bread and their famous cilantro-lime green sauce. They probably sprinkle crack in their sauce, because it's always empty. A great combo: Beef or chicken saltado with sweet potato fries, one fried egg and veggies. Delicious. Even their chicken and rice is great. I thought this was a nice quick adventure from work for that quick hour. Peruvian inspired food was the point of this place. I had the saltado of which I asked to have half chicken and half beef. Both meats were prepared well except the chicken was a little on the dry side. It's hard to go wrong with the rice part of this dish but their fries drenched in the same sauce as the meats was fantastic. I then proceeded to add the green sauce, not at all spicy but does have kick, to the dish and that added a nice element. Went here for lunch for the first time and got my order to go so I can eat with co-workers. They had a lunch special for $7.95 but they didn't sound good at all, hence, forces you to pick from their main menu with more expensive items. I got the beef soltado. It's stir fried meat with garlic, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and french fries. Kind of like the Peruvian version of meat and potatoes. They serve it with a side of rice and you get bread with the green dipping sauce. That sauce is nice and spicy, and almost addicting! The beef (lomo) soltado, I thought was okay. The sauce it stir fried in wasn't that flavorful and I've had better. For $12.95 I wishing more out of it plus the proportion between french fries and beef was practically 4-to-1. It needed more meat for the price they're charging. The overall service was okay. Not too critical of it because it was lunch rush hour. I will have to eat here again and give it another shot to really determine the quality of the food. May be my first time was a semi-fluke since it was lunch rush hour. I always pass by Inka Grill on my way out of Costa Mesa, but have never really made a true effort to go. after trying Super Pollo's rotisserie chicken (which is quite good), I figured it's time for something a little different. Inka Grill it is! since I only ordered takeout, I will only comment on the food. service and decor aren't factored in to my rating. as I passed the window, a sign read "revolutionary flavor!" in regards to the rotisserie chicken. I had my worries, but I decided to give the 1/2 chicken meal a go. it was delicious! you get your choice of salad or rice/beans as a side, so I opted for the black beans and rice. I was a little surprised to see just plain white rice, but I guess that stems from my being spoiled by Mexican food my whole life. I can't really put my finger on the flavors of the chicken: garlicky? earthy? there's some sort of seasoning on it that gave it a distinct, "not your run of the mill" type of roast chicken. it was awesome and unexpected. there were huge portions (I struggled to finish the meal, but I prevailed) which made spending the $9 something worthwhile. you also get tortillas, which is always a welcome addition. aside from the food, the server was really cute and friendly. she said I'll be coming back, so I will! read more

Enjoyed a Friday lunch at Inka Grill. Very crowded with non-stop line of customers waiting at the door. I loved the green sauce on the table and used it on my bread, my rice, and my entree. My only complaint is that although my chicken saltado was wodnerfully seasoned, it was absolutely cold when it was served. (My guess is that it had been sitting on the counter waiting to be served for a bit) I liked this place enough that I will give it another try. read more

I was a Peruvian cuisine virgin until I had dinner at Inka Grill. My friend told me they are a chain restaurant, but the place had a very unique mom and pop feel to it. And the food was great! The cilantro sauce was amazing, I was tempted to smuggle the bottle out in my purse (but I didn't). I can't quite recall the names of the dishes I sampled, but the salad with queso dressing was unique and tasty and the rib eye mixed with vegetables and fries was delectable. There was so much food left over between 2 people and 2 dishes, we each had something to take home for a satisfying lunch the next day. The waitress was prompt and attentive. I have been here twice now, and I still love this place. It has been the only place I've tried Peruvian cuisine, and I feel it will hard to be beat. I havent yet gotten adventurous with the other dishes, but my usual order of the beef saltado substitute fries with broccoli is amazing. The flavors of the veggies, meat, rice, and dash of soy sauce is really comparable to something I would make at home, so maybe one reason why I love the saltado is because it's somewhat comfort food for me. read more
