I ate at Inca Mama's Peruvian Cuisine 26676 Portola Parkway in Foothill Ranch. I stopped for lunch and the place was very busy but I got a seat right away. I have eaten Peruvian food before but never Peruvian Cuisine. Martha the owner & manager allowed me to take some photos. My server Martha was super nice and friendly, she said that the green sauce in the bottle is called Aji, is what Peruvians use as salsa. Appetizer: Empanadas; beef & chicken beef; cubed steak, onions, raisins, olive, and egg. chicken: cubed chicken, onions, raisins, olive, and egg. Entrée: Lomo Saltado De Carne; beef, cabbage, onions, bell peppers, soy and bean sauce. Served with rice. A good combination of flavors. I drank a Diet Coke with my meal. Dessert: Lucama: Peruvian ice cream. it was super duperly delicious. I thanked Martha for a wonderful meal and for allowing me to take photos. I walked outside with a big smile on my face. I'm vegetarian and the Tallarin Verde Vegetales is so good, the creamy green sauce is delicious. Highly recommend this establishment over any others. I came here during lunch time on a weekday, and the place was packed. The inside was packed with so many tables that it was quite loud. So we decided to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather. They start you off with bread and the green sauce. The green sauce was pretty good. They were generous enough to offer more bread when we finished our basket. I ordered the lomo saltado. The rice was just the right texture along with its buttery aftertaste to it. The fries were nice and flavorful. Although, I was not a fan of how tough the meat was. The meat to onion ratio was too much as there were too many onions on the plate. The service was great. They were very attentive to make sure we got our food. They also offered to turn on the heaters just to make sure we weren't cold. However, after we got our food they didn't really check on us much after. We had to flag them down for the check and a refill on our drinks. Overall, this is a great place that I would go back to. The service and quality of food was pretty flavorful. A minor setback for me though on the fly in my water. It was a tiny fruit fly in my cup of water. So that kind of made me be hesitant on this place. But it wouldn't hinder me from coming back. read more

Best Peruvian food I've ever had. Favorite is the Pollo apanado with an extra serving of plantains - ultimate comfort food.

We usually get food to go here about 3 times a month. It's the best Peruvian food in our neck of the woods. The dish I usually get is Saltado de Mariscos - freshly cut pieces of cod filet, shrimp & calamari sauteed with onions, cilantro, tomatoes & French cut potatoes and served with rice (see attached photo). I also get their Lomo Saltado on occasion. I really need to try more of their dishes, as they all look delicious! Their food portions are large and their restaurant is charming and quaint. They have seating both inside and out. They're located in a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking available. The staff is always very friendly, particularly Evangelo, the son of the owner. The prices appear to be slightly higher than other Peruvian restaurants but the food is good. They have another location in Aliso Viejo, which is very consistent with the one in Foothill Ranch. read more

I am by no means the authority on Peruvian food, but I have had it on a couple occasions. This food is BOMB!!! We ordered lomo saltado (substituted ribeye for the meat) and arroz con mariscos. Both were so so so so so so soooooo good. The spicy green sauce they serve on the side (I apologize for not knowing the authentic name) is really tasty as well. If you've never had Peruvian food, this is a good place to be introduced to Lomo Saltado. The beef is flavorful and the fries add a scrumptious kick. I like it how they make it and I always ask for an egg on top of my rice. Because why not, it's extra protein and that's how it's supposed to be. Also, if you like your dishes hot and spicy, just say so. The chicken version might be more for you if you find the beef chewier than you'd like. Per usual, I only order the same thing every time and so have never tried anything else other than the Lomo Saltado. I love their Lomo Saltado so much I tried to recreate it at home and was unsuccessful at it. So, I'll just have to keep coming here to satisfy my cravings. Customer service is warm, helpful, and friendly. We never regret going here. They have outside seating and have warmers if the weather is a little chilly. She said she certainly would and suggested we try first and foremost the Empanadas to start with ( freakin delish not ground beef but pieces of beef 9$) . When we finished those she suggested we order this beef dish and a chicken dish the Chicken dish was wonderful delicately breaded with sone crazy cheese infused spaghetti stuff which we Loved! Huge portions of fresh Peruvian flavors and dishes made to order. This place gets incredibly packed during prime eating hours, and for good reason. All the food is delicious and the hospitality is wonderful. I love the tallarin verde con pollo. I struggle to pronounce it so I just ask for the green pasta and they know exactly what I mean. The dish itself is a garlic breaded chicken breast that's been butterflied and flattened that's layered on top of a bed of spinach and basil cream sauce, spaghetti pasta and parmesan cheese. The chicken is moist, juicy, tender and flavorful. The breading is thin and soft. The chicken breast is quite large, so I recommend cutting it up into more manageable pieces and mixing it in with the pasta. The pasta is cooked to a perfect al dente texture. The sauce is vibrant, fresh and creamy. I usually ask for extra parmesan on the side to take the creaminess to an extra notch. For an additional kick, drizzle some of their house made aji verde sauce on top and the dish will sing to you. The mama scampi is also delicious. It's basically the same thing as the green pasta, but they use a spicy garlic cream sauce instead of the spinach and basil. You can get this with chicken or shrimp. The signature Peruvian dish is lomo saltado, and this place does a fairly good interpretation of it. It's very traditional: seasoned beef sauteed with thickly sliced onions, tomatoes, cilantro, thick cut fries and a side of rice. All the flavors are good and what'd you'd come to expect from a lomo saltado, but the quality of the beef is inconsistent. Sometimes it'll be really tender and other times it'll be a bit tough or overcooked and hard to eat. The ratio of meat to everything else needs to be adjusted; I often find myself done with the meat and I'll have a lot of veggies and fries leftover. The use of large fries in this dish can result in the fries getting soggy if they're not consumed quickly. The staff will also suggest getting a fried egg on top (it's an extra charge), but you can do without it because I don't think the inclusion of the egg elevates the dish that much. I like the rolls of bread they provide once you're seated. I just wish they were warmed up so it'd be easier to butter them, and it'd be nice if the butter wasn't cheap individual packets. I absolutely love the aji verde sauce they have here. It's spicy but super addicting and makes you want more and more of it, even though it gradually sets your mouth on fire. The sauce is some variation of cilantro, jalapeños, oil, some cream and lime juice (every Peruvian place has their own interpretation of this classic sauce, and I really like Inka's take on it). The service is friendly and helpful. The food takes awhile to come out because everything is made to order. With this being said, it's best to come early to avoid long wait times. The bread and sauce that you get to whet your appetite helps pass the time while your food is being cooked. read more

The ambiance in the room was nice and cosy. The staff was really nice and the food came out quickly. This is the place to go for Peruviam food. I ordered the lomo saltado and it was very tasty. It's steak mixed with onions, tomato, and French fries. My sister ended up ordering the Inka special. The meals were real good. The nice thing is that for the children's meals, they offer pasta. What kid wouldn't like pasta? Bread is served before the meal comes and the spicy green sauce is always good. To finish things off, we got dessert. We ordered the banana with the ice cream. We picked it up, left a generous tip, and headed to a local park to eat (intention was to walk the dog afterwards). Get to a park bench, open the bag, and to our dismay - no cutlery or napkins. This was our fist time at Inka Mama's and, even though we went through the menu prior to arriving, we were sitting at the table trying to figure out what my wife could eat. She has some food restrictions because of health reasons but wanted to venture into something new. While dissecting the menu, a gentleman sitting at a nearby table introduced himself - he was a member of the owner's family After a short discussion, question and answer session, he made a recommendation for her (Etofado?), with adaption, and it was perfect. Their, what I'll call, deconstructed Lamb Stew that I had was spectacular. If only for the food alone, we would return. But the personal attention from the family member, desire and ability to put together what we wanted, and our waiter's attention to detail was something that made it that much better. Really good Peruvian food. Went there for the first time the other day and got the lomo saltado and never looked back. The beef was a bit tough but exploding with lots of flavor. I kind of wish the fries in the dish were more crispy rather than wet and soggy but I can deal with it. I can't give it 5 stars only because the portions are a bit small for the price. Came here with a friend and decided to share appetizers, an entree, and dessert.. For appetizers, we chose Huancaina and asked for yucca and not potato but were brought potato. The server seemed upset that we were wrong about what we ordered, as if we didn't know we ordered potato. This was the only reason for the 4 stars though. The food was delicious. The sauce on the Huancaina was like crack. We were dipping our bread in it. We also had the chicken empanada and it was good as well. The sauce with it was a little spicy, which also brought out the flavor of the empanada. We also shared Saltado de Vainitas with chicken, and it was okay, but I think we enjoyed the appetizers more. But it had good flavor and there was enough for us to take some home. We then shared the flan which was so creamy and delicious. The green sauce was could have been put on anything and I would eat it! I put it on the lettuce that came with the Huancaina, and it was so spicy and yummy.
