John came out and was very straight forward and up front with everything he did. He explained the issue to me, how he would fix it, and even provided some recommendations I may want to do in the future. My second time I used Bluestar was on a Sunday and they are closed on Sunday's. I did not realize this at first and left them a voicemail in the morning. Realizing they were closed I called another company who would have charged me more than Bluestar to come out later that afternoon to look at the problem which was that my Nest Thermostat was giving an E73 error code meaning it was not getting power. To my surprise I received a call from John at Bluestar that afternoon prior to the other HVAC company coming out. I discussed my thermostat issue not getting power with John and he suggested several troubleshooting fixes I could try over the phone. After eliminating several causes of what the problem may be John suggested holding down the front panel cover switch to the unit to see if a power light was coming on. In doing this I noticed sometimes the light would come on and sometimes it would not. There seemed to be a loose connection in the a wire that was causing the switch not to supply power. After playing with the switch for a few minutes I got the power to stay on and the problem was fixed. John solved my problem and saved me a good deal of money as I canceled my appointment with the other HVAC company. John took over 20 minutes talking to me on the phone going above an beyond to help me solve my AC issue on the day the company is closed. I would highly recommend BluStar to anyone and will use them for all my future HVAC needs.

I was referred to Winds of Valley by a company in Southern Virginia that does not work in NoVa. When I contacted Sam about my Bosch condenser that stopped working, he came out free of charge to diagnose the problem. Sam immediately noticed that the condenser unit was not matched with the proper blower and evaporator. The company that installed the Bosch system made calculation errors and told me that the two different devices would work well together; they didn't and quit working after about 2 years. Sam gave me his suggestions, showed me his prices and let me make my own decision. I made my choice and was still skeptical. Sam literally wrote into the contract that I had a year to decide if I was happy with the equipment he installed and that if I wasn't, he would replace what he installed. I never took him up on that offer. The system he installed is quiet and dehumidifies the house, which is something my other system did not do, even though I was told it would. Sam, John and Joesph removed the old components, installed the new ones and cleaned up everything. They swept up after themselves, removed the old stuff, the new boxes and made sure I was happy with everything before leaving. They also walked me through the settings on the new thermostat. They also provided a year of maintenance with the system. Two years later, I replaced the water heater and again called Winds of Valley. The water heater replacement process was as smooth and efficient as the process for the HVAC system. Sam is a small business owner who knows what it means to provide great service, use quality products and keep customers happy. If all contractors were as good as this company, contractors would have a better reputation. I have complete faith in Winds of Valley and highly recommend the company.

Receptionist was incredibly friendly and was able to schedule me for the next morning, and offered me a new customer discount for the service call, which was significantly cheaper than other companies I spoke with. Michael called and gave a 30 mins heads up before he arrived. Took a look at both systems in my house, thoroughly walked me through each system and answered every question I had. He fixed the hot zones I had in my master bedroom, and explained how to best leverage my existing systems to maximize air flow throughout the house to make it more comfortable. Had a leak in basement bathroom ceiling. Tyson came out and quickly determined the leak was not coming from the joint but rather from somewhere above. So now there was a mystery leak hidden behind the walls somewhere between the third floor and the basement. He suspected the pipe to be behind and certain section of wall on the middle floor and thought maybe a nail could be the culprit and checked to see if we had anything nailed to the wall, we didn't. So he had to pick a section of wall to cut behind to check and on his first try found the pipe and showed me exactly where the previous owner put a nail through the toilet drain pipe. I was originally concerned we'd have to open many walls and ceilings to find it and I'm still wondering how he found it so quickly. He also answered a ton of my questions.
