If I could give 0 stars, I would. I came in as a first-time ring shopper, not knowing much and just wanting to try on different styles to see what I liked. That's literally it. The first time I went, the associate helping me seemed completely uninterested and kept asking what I wanted, even after I explained I didn't know and was there to figure it out. I tried on a few rings and ended up finding one I actually loved. Since this was my first time ring shopping, I wanted to look around and compare with other stores before making my big decision. As we were leaving, a man named Nick called out, saying he'd give an extra 10% off if we bought it that day. It felt pushy and uncomfortable. After visiting a few other places (with MUCH better service), I still couldn't stop thinking about that ring, so I came back a second time. That's where EVERYTHING went downhill. Nick helped us this time, and I absolutely hated every moment of it. I was very clear and transparent, telling him that I loved the ring and that's why I came back. Instead of making the process feel exciting or comfortable, the entire interaction turned into a high-pressure situation. He kept pushing for a same-day decision and said the price was "today only" and wouldn't be available if we left because the gold prices are rising. For something as important as an engagement ring, that kind of pressure is completely inappropriate. What made it worse was the inconsistency. After we didn't agree on the spot, suddenly the "today only" price turned into "you have a week." That alone made it hard to trust anything he said. There were also multiple comments about other stores we had visited, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. At one point, he mentioned having other customers lined up, which didn't match what we were seeing in the store at all. And if you didn't need my business, there wouldn't have been this much pressure to close the sale. At the end of the day, no matter how much I liked the ring, the experience made me not want to spend a single penny here. Buying an engagement ring should feel exciting, not pressured and uncomfortable. We left and went back to another jeweler, where the difference in service was night and day! They were extremely patient, respectful, and actually helpful. That's where I ended up finding my forever ring. I gave this place two chances. Based on both experiences, I would NOT recommend them. About a month or two ago, my girlfriend and I came here searching for her perfect engagement ring and luckily, she had found one she loved at International Diamond Company. The first time we came we were assisted by an older lady. She was nice, not overtly pushy, but seemed extremely disinterested and unenthusiastic. But I personally wasn't too bothered by her. The real problem was our second visit, that happened very recently when Nick assisted us. Believe me, I understand they are salespeople trying to do their jobs, but it's one thing to be proactive about closing a deal and a completely different thing to be so rude and aggressive about it. Nick made us feel like he did not care at all about us nor our engagement process, but simply wanted the dollars in my pocket. My partner tried expressing to Nick she wanted to give IDC a chance and buy from them if he could give us a little space to think and be less pushy (seemed fair to me considering the amount of money being discussed) and his response was, "If you don't like the way I do business that's okay, I have people lined up anyways." That comment further solidified what was already becoming a terrible experience. This is a major life purchase, and feeling pressured or dismissed was a huge turnoff. It also felt disrespectful, especially toward my soon-to-be fiancée. Even if the pricing had been unbeatable, the interaction alone made us decide we didn't want to move forward. We also learned that customization options at IDC are limited to factory production rather than in-house jewelers (a slightly more expensive option to improve quality, durability, and care in the crafting process). While I don't think outsourcing is inherently bad and can help keep costs down for those on a budget, many other jewelers offer both in-house and factory options, which provides more flexibility. The warranty and insurance structure is also less comprehensive compared to what we saw at other jewelers. Customers have no choice but to rely on homeowners insurance, which can add extra steps compared to jewelry-specific coverage. Based on other reviews, service for repairs also seems to be met with hesitancy and annoyance from staff at IDC. I'm all for supporting small, family-owned businesses. Even if IDC has less to offer in comparison to other jewelers, I would have still considered doing business with them either now or in the future because kindness, integrity, and professionalism can go a long way. In the end, after calmly asking Nick a few more questions, I thanked him for his time, shook his hand, and walked away unfortunately never to return. read more

When explaining our situation and our lack of knowledge about the terms of the warranty, the individual insinuated that we were trying to scam the store. We were unaware that the warranty required us to bring the ring for maintenance every four months, and this was never communicated to us at the time of purchase. Furthermore, he treated us disrespectfully and accused us of trying to get a free repair when we mentioned that we hadn't read the fine print on the receipt detailing this requirement. We were told that the repair would cost us $75, an amount we consider excessive, especially considering that it's a small diamond within a ring that originally cost around $300. However, the most concerning aspect is not the cost itself but the ironic and disrespectful tone of the employee, as well as his aggressive attitude towards my wife, including raising his voice and displaying racist behavior and physically expressing his frustration through violent gestures. Don't buy from this place or get your jewelry repaired. The owner Nic is a liar. I ordered a 8in gold figaro bracelet. before i picked it up i called him to make sure he had my 8 in bracelet. He said i have a 8, 8.5, and 9in bracelet. When I picked it up he told me that it was 8in so I believed him. The diamond ring that I bought from them, which they claim to have sized (which they did not, Bad on me for not forcing them to show me they had sized it!) Is completely inferior. I took it to my regular jeweler to be sized correctly, and they called me to tell me that every single prong was "short" and they wanted to charge me $125 just to build up the four prongs of the center stone so that it would not fall out. To say this place is a NIGHTMARE would be an understatement of the century! My girlfriend and I have ordered the ring on May 1st, and I finally got it in today - October 24th. It took 6 months to custom order the ring from Italy, to then size it to the right size, when the custom ordered ring came in without being sized (even though we asked for it), to send it in to fix the chipped diamond that the ring came in with, to get the official GIA appraisal of the ring. The result? It seems that the owner, Nick, ended up swapping the ring for a different one (quietly), when he realized that he wasn't able to swindle me into accepting a chipped diamond ring with the inferior clarity diamond. The Details: On May 1st, 2012 I came in to place a deposit on the ring that my girl and I had seen at the International Diamond Company a week before, but it was sold to another customer. The owner Nick took my deposit, and told me that the ring was going to take a month (about 4-5 weeks) to come in. He custom ordered a .96ct ring with the F color and VS-2 clarity. According to my credit card statement, I paid the rest of the amount on 6/23/2012. That's 8 weeks. I picked the ring up, took it to my girl to see that it was too large. I took the ring back to the store and asked them AGAIN to size it. The sizing was done in a few days. After the ring came back from the sizing, my girl took it to her Jeweler friend who examined the ring and told her that one of the stones was chipped, and some stones WERE NOT VS-2, but instead were of lower quality. This had occurred in early-mid July. After I took the ring back to the store and told Nick about it, he was very defensive, rejecting the fact that the right might have been chipped. Eventually he agreed to do an appraisal on the ring, (at his own expense), since I had serious doubts about the ring being of color and clarity that were advertised Fast forward a month later. I haven't heard anything back. I called Nick to get the update to find out that the ring was INDEED chipped, and as a result had to be sent back to the manufacturer in order to replace the chipped stone. Per Nick, the appraisal won't be done on a ring with a chipped stone. Finally, after more and more delay the ring came back from the manufacturer, and after further delays at the appraiser I got the ring back today. May 1st - October 24th - 6 months!!! My girlfriend just told me that this ring shines & sparkles much MORE than the other one, and it has 18 CT engraved on the inside of the band, The other ring did not have the Carats indicated anywhere. Did Nick realize that the scheme did not work? Did he spend the last 2 months getting the actual ring that I have purchased, from the manufacturer and swapping it with the fake that he had sold me? Did he know that there was no way in hell the original ring was going to appraise to the specs that were sold to me? THE POSITIVES: - The ring ordered was .96 CT, the ring that finally came in was 1.15 CT - Nick did give me a sterling silver children's pendant that's probably worth $10-20 for my "inconvenience" - Nick did the appraisal at his own expense. I saw severely occluded diamonds, cloudy, off-colored, misshapen, chipped. poorly cut and finished. All-in-all, I didn't see one stone even CLOSE to it's represented GIA rating. Some of the worst garbage I've ever seen. Many of the diamonds mounted should have been used for industrial work where visual appeal is unimportant. And since they offer no returns or exchanges on SALE items, you're screwed, because EVERYTHING is on sale. Yeah, right. Sale my a$$. If things double their real value were a sale. The moment the sale has concluded and they have your money, ALL of your concerns are null and void to them. There is ZERO customer support. These people are scammers. I saw a diamond pendant in the window advertised for $349. I asked to see it and the guy took it down and showed it to me and after I decided I wanted it he tells me the price wrong on the item. This item is normally $5000 and marked down to $1700. How in the heck does this happen? It's just to get customers to go into the store. He should have never shown me that item if he knew it was the wrong price. Buyer beware! They may easily RIP YOU OFF just like they did with me! And if you read the other reviews you will see I'm not the first customer whose expensive product was DAMAGED BY THEM. On June 26, 2022, I went to international diamond company store in Woodfield Mall, besides selling jewelry they also offer jewelry services. I asked them to set my one-carat newly purchased perfect-looking diamond in a ring and they charged me 75 dollars for this. On 07/02 I picked up the ring, and the diamond was set. When I sat in my car and looked at the ring again in the day light I noticed that there were a lot of blemishes on the surface of the stone. When I got home I tried to clean them with alcohol it didn't help. On 07/03 I came back to the store to talk to their manager and explain that when I brought the stone to them it was perfectly polished and brand new, and I just purchased it about two weeks ago and was keeping it in the box. I explained that it was their jeweler who must have damaged the surface. He started to argue with me telling that it is not possible. I told him that it was perfectly possible and this was what had happened, you can damage a diamond. Most likely his jeweler kept the black diamond for too long when he was cleaning it with ultrasound after sending the stone and because of the vibrations, darker blemishes went out and became visible just right on the surface. Instead of fixing this issue at no extra cost or at least refunding the money to fix their own mistake, he was arguing with me trying to tell me something which was not true thinking that I do not know anything about the diamonds. For example, he started to talk about the clarity of the black diamond, when black diamonds do not have clarity at all, they are black, they have a color that's true, but they are not evaluated based on clarity and this can be read on Gemological Institute of America website that specializes on diamonds' certification. He was just lying to my face, he did not even make an attempt to amicably resolve this dispute. I purchased this diamond for my mother's 50th anniversary worth 3,000 dollars and now it looks like a dirty rock. The manager acted as an unscrupulous merchant who was not ready to stand behind the service that he provides. The picture represents how the diamond looks after I picked it up from them. Everything looks good on a big giant sign doesn't it?! I just so happen to literally walked right into this place as I realized I needed my watch resized. Their sign outside says "watch repair and battery..$8.99 and up". I stepped inside approaching several sales reps that were just sitting in their bums chit chatting even though they knew someone had walked in. We were the only people in there.Shows great customer service eh?? I approach to ask them how much it would cost to resize and in return they asked to see it. Fair game. All the guy did was read aloud the brand of watch I had and quote me $10. Really? That's all that matters?? Now, let me remind you that I didn't have a fancy watch (anne klein) and it cost me $10. I then proceed to ask about a battery exchange I needed for my other watches and I still get the same quote. My other watches were no named.... So what was their sign about? $8.99 my arse!! If you want to get your watches done there, I suggest you truly dress down as it seems that they only quote you from your appearance. It has nothing to do with the brand of watch you bring in or if they can manage to do what you ask....they are looking for people that will pay any amount! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. They are an absolutely shady bunch. No prices on any of their jewelry so they can give you imaginary prices for items and try to make you feel good about the 70% off discount they're providing you. NO REFUNDS, they only give you store credit. I purchased a diamond bracelet for my girlfriend, she ended up not liking the bracelet and we went back to the store to get the store credit. Then after waiting a couple months she finally found another item she wanted they jacked up the price and made sure to charge us for anything they could. When we were looking at the item that resizing a ring was free etc. but when it came time to pay they tacked on a $25.00 fee. They knew we had a store credit so we were stuck with either throwing the money away or paying what they choose. If I could rate them at a zero, I would. read more

What a horrible experience - I'll definitely never shop here again. I received a pair of diamond stud earrings a couple of years ago for Christmas and lost one a few months ago. After searching and searching for the lost earring, I went to the International Diamond Company location where they were purchased. The clerk (manager, maybe) checked the floor for a match, but couldn't find one, so he had to special order it. He took my original earring so they could match it. Around the time the earring arrived, I FOUND the missing earring. The same clerk refused to take back the new earring and credit my card because it was a "special" order. Mind you, it wasn't a custom order. Someone simply had to check their existing stock to locate another earring of the correct size, color, etc. They could have easily returned it to their supplier who could have put it back in their inventory. Plus, the earrings that I received had different backs, so I couldn't even tell which was originally mine, or if either was my original. Looking back on the transaction, they could have just kept my original and given me two earrings of lesser quality. The clerk offered no recourse, although we offered to reimburse his costs (he was justifying his stance because he paid shipping costs), and still nothing. He didn't even offer a store credit. So, he has my $299 dollars, but they've lost any and all of my future business, and hopefully yours. They offer no customer service, and the clerk was almost rude when we explained that we didn't feel that we were being treated fairly. Take your business elsewhere.
