Food is decent, not as good as I remember (about a few years ago). Service was very rude. I witnessed a car robbery right outside, and was helping a victim contact authorities. The waitress there was telling my party to hurry up and order while I was outside. I can understand this if the restaurant was busy but my party was 1 of the 3 there (restaurant was 80% empty) around 4 pm on a Monday. When I came, we gave the waitress our orders, she repeated it back to us, and when I apologized for the delay helping the robbery victim the waitress show no sign of empathy. After we started getting our orders, they were missing my wife's order. When I asked about it, the waitress was very adamant my wife didn't order even though she repeated our orders back to us before going back to the kitchen. Came here right before the place opened, so only had to wait 5 minutes before we were seated. I was a bit worried about the poor reviews, but with the record cold temperatures and tourism madness nearby Time Square, we decided to choose this location. Ordered the Karaka-Men ramen which was really good. Broth was rich and the spiciness added some extra flavor. Pork was tender and not overwhelmly fatty. Noodles were thin and made well. $2 extra noodles is available but try to order a bit earlier into your meal because it does take some time for them to make. Also got the tiko highball which was a great way to refresh after having a warm, hearty ramen bowl. Service was pretty good. You're all welcomed in traditional Japanese cries. I read reviews that this wasn't the same as the other Ippudo's. We didn't get the ramen here, but we did get the pork buns and they tasted the same! It's probably because it's new so the food isn't as great as all the other places, but it was still good to me. AND THE WAIT IS SO MUCH SHORTER! We waited for over an hour at the other place and there was NO wait here. Although I did choose to go to the other Ippudo because I read that this one was not the same. (It is Yelpers. Do not be fooled lol). The Pork Buns and the Chicken Karaage were both DELICIOUS. Very fresh. I love this place. The ramen is great, the buns are great, the service is great. This is the type of place that you have a good experience as soon as you walk in. They greet you with a loud shouting match between waiters. You are seated and immediately brought water. They mention he drink specials and love to recommend things. The appetizer options are my favorite. Truffle fries, yum. Pork buns, yum. Wings, yum. As for the ramen, great choices. I always go for the spicy one with pork, its delicious. The noodles are cooked perfectly, the broth is tasty. I love how quick the food is served too. Perfect if you want to eat under an hour. The expire experience is amazing! We get there around 1:30 and only waited for 30 minutes. While you are waiting here, you can order cocktails to kill time. Also they provided menu at the waiting area so u can do your research for the noodles u want to order later. Walk in to the dining area, they don't have a lot tables and the design are simple, u can hear all the waiters will greet u with Japanese. Love it. Feel special lol After we get seated, water, menu, everything's set. I ordered noodle and also their yuzu martini. The drink is sooo good, very fresh, and the noodle is amazing. I like this new location, because you can get Ippudo ramen here without a long wait. I came here on a Sunday afternoon, and there's no line, my friend and I were seated right away. The restaurant is smaller than the other locations in the city, it has a bar in the waiting area. And in the dining room, there is an L-shaped table by the ramen kitchen. There are a couple tables that mostly come with 2 seats or 4 seats. The decor is very basic with a lot of wooden elements. The room is very bright (almost too bright) with ample lighting. We ordered the edamame which came with yuzu salt. It was a delightful start to our meal. We also ordered pork buns. I like the pork buns from Ippudo as their sauce is so much better than the typical hoisin sauce used by a lot of Asian restaurants. The sauce used in the Ippudo buns has a spicy kick to it, it complements the flavor of the chashu pork really nicely. And I like that it is not too saucy, unlike the hoisin sauce explosion you would experience at certain Asian restaurants when you order the pork buns. For the ramen, we ordered the Akamaru, which came with garlic oil and the secret sauce. I would recommend adding the egg topping to this ramen, their boiled eggs have a runny center, unlike the hard boiled eggs you would get at some other ramen places. The secret sauce, the pork based broth and garlic oil create a great pool of flavors for the ramen. The noodles are cooked just right with a medium firmness to it. This bowl of ramen would have you slurping. It's delicious!! The 2 pieces of chashu pork that came with the noodles were flavorful and well marinated. It was a very satisfying meal. One drawback is that we were told they do not serve hot tea. They only serve iced jasmine tea. The iced jasmine tea is good, but I always prefer to have a cup of hot tea after I finish a bowl of ramen. Overall, I would recommend coming to this location if you don't want to wait a couple hours to have a bowl of Ippudo ramen. read more

Weirdest take out other I've ever experienced. No name was taken, order wasn't confirmed, order scribbled on a notepad and no payment was made at the time of ordering. I first had Ippudo when I was in Taiwan visiting family, and it was then deemed my most favorite Ramen shop in the world. Obviously, when I saw that NYC had a couple of locations, I had to visit. I got the Shiromaru Motoaji with pork, tamago (soft boiled egg), and with the Tokyo thick wavy noodles. Everything was delicious; however, I was disappointed that the tamago was overcooked a little too much. I saw that this place was trending on Yelp a few months ago and decided to try this Ippudo the other day since I was in the area. I had the Akamaru ramen in Thailand. So, I decided to try the Ichiraku Ramen this time. Ugh, I was pretty disappointed. The broth was oily and salty. I didn't finish the soup BTW. I wished that there were more menma toppings (i.e. season bamboo shoots) and they only give you three pieces! The pork was fine and it's usually standard to get two pieces at ramen places. The thin noodles were OK and nothing special. I was also disappointed with the egg and it wasn't a runny seasoned egg like other ramen places! I was just bothered by the horrible broth, the lack of toppings, and the egg. I guess I should have gotten the Akamaru ramen. They don't offer hot tea and I thought that was super weird. So, I just requested water with no ice. Overall, service was OK. The ramen is definitely overpriced. I think I'll stick to "Momosan Ramen & Sake" for ramen. It's cheaper and a lot better. read more

They kinda just sat in the broth with very little flavor. Service was great. Waiters refilled water when it was needed. Only downside is when we asked to split the bill, they split it incorrectly by charging my friend for what I got and charging me for my friend's stuff. I paid about $20 including tax and tip for myself, but my friend paid $40 because he ordered the fish appetizer which is somehow $15 (same price as the ramen). Forgot to create a review for the previous time I ate at Ippudo so here we go again! Started off with the Tsukune Buns which resembled a nap. The soft bun with a meatball, pickled carrots, cilantro and amazing sauce set the mood right for the rest of the meal. Next up was the Wagyu Tobanyaki and was slightly disappointed that the stone stopped being hot almost immediately after the first flip. Another thing that was disappointing was that rock wasn't oiled up to begin with so our first piece went from a slice to shredded bits attempting to take i off. BUT the A5 wagyu will never disappoint no matter the size or the restaurant it's from! Then for my main; Shiromaru Kasane with extra pork belly! The pork belly was amazingly soft, lots of flavour but my noodles were on the soft side with no bite back. Other than that the ramen would still give me a decent run for me in my books. As good as it gets! Vegetarians - look no further. I've been on a life-long hunt do track down some decent veggie ramen, and this place has it. My colleague and I came around 12:00pm on a Monday and there was about a 10 minute wait, not too bad. This place is super cosy, we were almost touching elbows with our neighbors. The ramen itself though was absolutely spot-on. The broth was full of flavor (which I was starting to think was impossible for veggie ramen). It came with a vegetable fritter on top, which was a nice edition. The noodles were cooked perfectly. I added an egg and their spicy sauce on mine, I definitely recommend you do the same. So good, everytime. Have been back five times since the city "reopened", and am so glad to have this new location in midtown proper for convenient lunches. As a vegetarian, it's hard to find ramen, let alone good ramen. The vegetarian ramen at Ippudo is fantastic - so much flavor in the broth, enhanced with their special garlic oil and umami paste. I also love the vegetarian bun, although would prefer going back to the pre-pandemic preparation (ie, more sauce!). The shishito peppers with citrus salt are also a favorite. Went for Dinner Food - 3/5. The pork buns were mediocre. The pork was small and got overwhelmed in flavors from the bun, which was thick and plain. Pork itself was tender enough but too thin to really enjoy the texture. Sauce wise, despite it being labeled as "spicy", there wasn't any spice or flavor to really mention. Karaage was disappointing compared to other Ippudo establishments. The size was small and round, like a nugget, rather than other Ippudo's karaage which are of substantial size. Spicy mentai mayo was good with its creamy, spicy and slightly briny flavors pairing well with the fried chicken, especially with lemon sprinkled on top. Service - 4/5. Professional and quick. Value - 1/5. Food was disappointing and ridiculously expensive for what they give you. The buns are especially laughable with each bun costing $4.5 for the sliver of meat that goes on it. The karaage being of small size also feels like a blatant cost saving practice run by the restaurant, which always leaves a distasteful feeling to the customers who are spending money. So I flew here from cali and people were saying that Ippudo is one of the best ramen in town. So I had to check it out to see what it's all about Alright honest opinion about ramen. I don't usually eat ramen because I preferred dried noodles. I like it more when the flavor is in the noodle than the flavor in the soup. I ordered Akamaru...oh man. Absolutely changed my mind about ramen. Never had ramen is flavorful before. The noodles is perfect cooked, not too soft. The broth is absolutely amazing, rich and creamy. Lastly, the chashu literally just melt in your mouth. Extra chashu is highly recommended. This was my first time at the 5th Avenue location of Ippudo. I've always had good experiences at the Hell's Kitchen and Astor Place locations. Today we decided to go to the one at 5th Avenue and ordered both of the specials.
