I used to live in Motown and I still get back up here occasionally. I saw this bar being built for a while and it looked pretty cool, so I wanted to get up there and check it out. My wife and I stopped in with a group of friends on a Friday night. The actual space is very similar to Sona, in that the actual size is pretty much the same with the stairs in both the front and back of the place. There is a long bar on one side and bar tables lining the other side of the wall. It wasn't too packed when we stopped in and the service was decent enough while we had drinks. Beers were very reasonably priced but drinks were a little on the high side. I almost feel like the vibe of this place is a mix between Sona and the Dark Horse. I try not to reference other places when I write reviews, but that's what I kept thinking while I was in this place. It is definitely a good enough place to stop in and have some drinks. I am not sure how packed it gets late night but it is a nice addition to the Motown bar scene. They also serve food but we didn't have any. read more

Been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Located in the heart of downtown Morristown. Place is spacious with a very long bar and tables off to the side. Another seating area is in the back. The have plenty of big, flat screen TVs for sports and we usually enjoy watching football here. Food was subpar. Only thing good was the giant pretzel. Chicken wings were rubbery. Bruschetta Flat bread tasted like it was dusted with sugar. I ate one bite and the waitress said nothing as she took it away. French fries were undercooked. Service was terrible. Drink were pretty strong. That's the only thing worth coming for. First clue should have been how empty it was in comparison to the other restaurants. The was DH's pick and he will be forever reminded of his poor choice. read more

Go here if you want watered down drinks. I ordered a Kettle and cranberry and it was so weak I would have felt confident giving it to a child. When I approached the bartender about it he said that "if I made it, it definitively has Kettle in it because I pour extra and I can't add anything more to it." I'm not even a big drinker and I finished it in 5 minutes instead of my usually 20-30 minutes. I ordered my next drink from another bartender downstairs and it was only slightly better, so that ended my drinking for the night. My advice is to stick with bottled beer. Have been here several times and everytime the service is absolutely terrible! They take forever to get your drink and food order - when and if it comes out it generally is not what you ordered. They only have one good bartender - the rest water down your drinks - I once sent a drink back bc all you could taste was sweet and sour mix and I watched the bartender just put a bunch of Sprite in it and try to re-serve it to me. However, I must admit the avocado salad with steak is delicious, but, I will only order it to go or else it takes 45 minutes to get served. read more

This used to be our go-to every weekend we'd all come (20 mins away) to drink and listen to music. Lately however, the music has been shit. Anyway, we decided to stop giving them business because we were thrown out and my friend was physically carried out for doing nothing. We were going down the stairs after being there for 10 minutes. All of a sudden the bouncers are man handling some guy they wanted to kick out on the stairs, we stood for a second and looked up to see the manager (who we've seen many times from going frequently). He was telling us to move up stairs frantically and we did exactly that. We ran up the stairs to move out of the way and they grabbed my friend by then neck and had him in a choke.. 3 bouncers against my friend. They threw his phone on the ground and by the time they got him out his whole shirt was unbuttoned. The conclusion we came to is that they saw the first black guy and just grabbed him because they said nothing to me and my other friend when we both happen to be white. Not the first time over heard of racial profiling at the bar.. Therefore I've told everyone I know who goes, not to anymore and none of my friends will ever return. Service is LAUGHABLE. Went here on an empty ( 2 other tables ) Sunday. Waited 20 minutes for 2 beers and an hour for food. 1 out of our 4 food orders was right. Waitress brought us a cheesesteak and was adamant it was the Cuban sandwich ( Pulled pork and ham is not very difficult to identify ). Then the host, who looked like he was all of 14 years old, agreed and said it was their cuban. It was not. Buffalo chicken sliders came out as cheeseburger sliders and when we corrected our server we were met with "I guess I put them in wrong". After which she seemed confused and asked, "well, what did you order"? so after an hour and a half, my sister didn't eat, my brother gave up and ate his Cuban Cheesesteak and my wife had one cold slider without the lettuce and tomato she requested. I use to attend this place often! It wasn't until last year for St. Patty's Day that completely change my mind.. I was with a group of 8 people and the line was super long as always. Finally we made it to the front and was charged 10$ to enter. There wasn't many people inside which was surprising because they are usually packed on a day like St Patty's. Upstairs bar seem like it was out of a lot of items so we proceeded to go downstairs. Downstairs was also out of many things. Apparently they were having bathroom issues and it flooded the downstairs. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting!!!!! There was no working water! Which meant No flushing no washing hands!!! I was disgusted !! If they knew there establishment was going through this ,they should have told costumers at the door and I WOULD NOT HAVE PAID TO ENTIRE YOUR SHITHOLE!!! This place is the worst! On Saturday, I was outside waiting for my sister to leave at the end of the night, and I witness an iron bar bouncer verbally and physically attack a customer outside of the bar because he was "talking to his girl". The bouncer told the customer that he would "bash his skull in" and then pushed him. It was so scary and the girl end up getting accidentally hurt because the bouncer got out of control. Clearly Iron bar does not higher responsible people - this bouncer needs some serious help! I will never consider going into iron bar again! Sona13 next door is more fun with a better atmosphere and music anyway :) FYI - Even if it was the customer who started it, the bouncer should have calmly asked him to leave or gotten the attention of the cops standing right there. Went here to watch football games on a sunday. Very large inside, good drink and food specials. Lots of TV's and service is pretty accommodating for large groups and will change the games around on the TV's to suit. Shots are expensive and they dont have Powers whiskey. Probably the best night club experience you can get in this part of NJ. Upstairs has a sports bar feel and downstairs is a huge night club experience. Came for happy hour on a Friday. Drink specials are nothing special. Dollar off reg price. Good selection of beer on tap. But the food is terrible. I would only come for the atmosphere and booze. Doesn't make sense to get food here. We got the "nachos" which were more like tiny open faced quesadilla. Two bucks extra for chicken, but there were only a few pieces of chicken to be found. Hardly worth the extra bucks. The calamari was lightly breaded and super chewy and the "spicy" sauce was more like sugary sauce. It was awful. Stopped in here to watch a game with some friends. We weren't too impressed. First the positives: The bar staff and table service were great (very friendly and quick service). They had plenty of large TVs, perfect to watch the game. The place had a lot of open space too, which would be good if it gets crowded (Seating is situated around the perimeter, either at the bar or tables against the far wall). Now the negatives: There wasn't a large beer selection and the beer list had items on it that the bar didn't actually have (e.g. Duval). The items on the menu sound impressive, but were expensive. As someone said, a burger is $11. But you don't get your money's worth. My friend ordered the Whale Tail (I believe it's called). It was described as jumbo shrimp stuffed crab cakes swimming in a sea of lobster bisque. Well the shrimp weren't so jumbo, the crab cakes were small, and the sea of lobster bisque was just a trickle. The item was adequate for an appetizer, but not for a $13 specialty dinner. Another friend ordered Lobster salad, which had a lot of greens, but not much else. The only item that we ordered that was of any substance was the chicken sandwich. Since we were all starving, we ordered a platter of nachos at $9. Now, when I think nachos, I think a heaping platter of tortilla chips smothered in cheese, gauc, sour cream, peppers, etc, etc. The menu description sounded like typical nachos, but the actuality left a lot to be desired and was a rip off. The platter was 6 hand-size thin nachos with some cheese and a sprinkling of chopped peppers melted on top, and then three small cups with some guac, salsa and sour cream. So we each got 1.5 "nachos". While the open space could be a positive some nights, the lack of seating seemed to be a problem the night we were there to watch the game. Patrons were constantly on the search for chairs. While the atmosphere seems nice, it's definitely not a place to go to with a group of friends to grab food, drinks and watch a game. Even for a night of just drinks, I'd rather go down the road to Sona where you can get a larger beer selection, or the Frog where you can get a real meal at a decent price and at least some free popcorn out of the deal! read more

If you're ever feeling nostalgic about your college frat party years and want to relive those days, even if only for one night, look no further than Iron Bar on a Friday/Saturday night during the summer time. From the sweaty, crowded basement to the heaps of scantily-clad college girls to the excitement of not being able to hear yourself think, this place has it all. It's not all bad though, if you come with a good group of people and you drink A LOT, it could really be a good time (maybe I'm just getting too old of this scene). I'm giving it three stars because I've definitely some great memories here over the years. Went here for just an app and some drinks with my boyfriend around lunchtime. We're new to the area and just stumbled upon here for no particular reason. We got the charcuterie as an app, a beer, and a martini. Everything was excellent. There was such a wide selection of drinks, so it's perfect for people who like to try new things. Also, I'm used to nyc prices so this place was definitely cheaper than that. The charcuterie is like a meat and cheese plate. It was good but could've used more bread with it since we had meat and cheese left over. The plate was probably an 7/10 compared to other places we've tried. There was a good number of beer on tap and the music was lively and bumping. My fiancee and I did get a lot of push back when entering this facility, as the bouncer repeatedly tried to decipher my driver's license, not because they thought it was fake, but because it looked interesting. However, I did not feel comfortable at this establishment and I'm guessing the clientele didn't either because I felt rushed to eat my food. My friends and I always have a great time here. We don't come very often, maybe once a month or so. It's our girls night out. The drinks are always great and it's nice to usually see the same bartenders every time we go. One time I lost my phone there and assumed someone stole it, but they found it and got it right back to me. I don't think it would have been returned in other Morristown bars. That good impression really stuck with me and I appreciate their quality. The only two things I don't like is how bright it is upstairs and that there is no coat check. I prefer the music upstairs but find it sort of an awkward spot to dance. Downstairs definitely has more of club feel. Overall it's definitely a fun spot Thursday Friday or Saturday, just get there early to avoid long lines! read more

By far the worst service I have ever gotten. The waitress was short with us, did not even take our entire table's orders (she left before we had finished ordering), and was extremely slow with bringing out our drink orders. Now, I'm all for giving waitstaff the benefit of the doubt if it's a busy night and they are short-staffed, but the place was near-empty and it was a Sunday night, so there was no excuse for the abysmal service we got. We gave up and went to the bar to get our drinks directly, and over an hour after we ordered, our waitress came over to ask if we had gotten our food yet. As she was the only waitress there, wouldn't you think she would remember whether she had brought us food or not??? Probably a third of our orders actually made it to the table, then we gave up and went somewhere else. The food that actually arrived at our table was mediocre at best. I really want to like this place because they have some solid bartenders, but with our waitress being so terrible and the food being sub-par, I can't say I would ever eat here again, but I would consider grabbing a beer or two here sometime. read more
