Wow this place is a hidden gem. I've been in a couple of times for the Panang curry which is spectacular. Last time I had it with the lunch special which is an excellent deal includes salad and egg roll. Flavor is wonderful and spice is great. Lots of fresh veggies as well. Who knew I'd run into one of the best Thai restaurants in the middle of nowhere?! My sister and I were doing a little ranch/farm getaway near Poway and were craving takeout on our trip. We quickly browsed Yelp for a Thai place nearby and came across Iron Pan, and lucky us!! We were seriously shook at how good the food was. We got the Pad See Ew and the Panang Curry and both were rich, seasoned to perfections, and served in hefty portions. I'm a fan! This is a very tiny space, so either come early or expect to wait in a long queue for a table. Having spent time in Thailand , I can say that Iron Pan is a very good representation of a very noble and vibrant national cuisine. The Hubs and I were in for lunch yesterday. He ordered the Thai basil stir-fry with chicken and had the pad see we with tofu. Because they were the lunch specials they came with a spring roll and choice of soup or salad. The hubby had the soup-which was a tom yum soup, and had the salad. They were both very nice. The hub's stir fry was fresh and very yummy, and my noodles were some of the best I've had in a long time. I ordered a spiciness level of 7, and they were indeed very spicy. The noodles were fresh and not stuck together (I hate that). The spring roll on the side was crispy and delicious. Our service was very friendly, fast, and efficient. It's one of favorite foods due to the variety of flavors, the tanginess, etc. I got the pad Thai here but it was not great in my opinion. There wasn't much of a tang or soury flavor. We also got pad see ew which wasn't bad! Something that was off putting to me though, was that the server walked out with the plate and just as they were going to put it down on the table, they looked at something on it and walked back into the kitchen with it. They came back out with the same plate after a couple minutes and didn't mention what that was about. I thought that was a bit odd and made me a little uncomfortable. The spice level was pretty significant, spicier than typical places I think, but you can pick from 1-10! When I was a kid living in Bakersfield, my mother and I used to joke the best Mexican food in town was actually in Lamont, a small town just outside Bako. Until I find someplace better, the best Thai food in San Diego is in Poway. To paint a picture, I was over at the Home Goods nearby, with a friend of mine, and I was hangry. I was in the mood for pho, but I didn't want to go looking for it in Poway because it's not my town. So, we saw Iron Pan Thai grill, and decided to give it a try. The spring rolls were fantastic. Never before have I had a spring roll so perfectly crisp, yet not at all oily. To satisfy my need for soup, I ordered the Tom Kha, which was delightful. It was flavored well, I could still taste a hint of coconut, and it reminded me of the seafood special laksa at this little spot in Darwin, Australia. Our entrees were the fried cashews, and my friend opted for the tofu, while I had shrimp Pad Thai. This restaurant is tiny. They have a patio but if it's chilly outside it wouldn't be ideal. Service is really good. That being said, the 2 dishes we ate were both pretty tasteless and bland. My Cashew Chicken only had the taste of chili pepper. The carrots and zucchini were cut very nicely. The chicken breast was not tough. All good except for the lack of flavor. My friend ordered the Spicy Eggplant with chicken. She had the same thoughts on her dish. We both took some bites of our own dish and looked at each other and said, "this has no flavor." Ok, this was our first visit (my girl and me celebrating valentine's day) and could have not had a better experience. We went in hearing the food was good and after seeing the reviews/photos on yelp got quickly excited. My girl got drunken noodles and I got green curry with pork along with eggrolls.... both dishes..... beyond tasty and the eggrolls tasted homemade vs store bought. I only had a bit or so of the drunken noodles but the curry was by far the best I've had anywhere! Great heat lvl without being overwhelming and flavor just hit a homerun! Decor and ambiance is a cute, modern bistro type. Better outside dinning vs inside (few seats and close quarters). Very clean only criticism is that tables tops are glass and very scratched, I'm sure for dinner service they cover them with a cloth but it was distraction from the great meal. Customer service was solid and our waiter answered questions and was attentive to us as well. Place filled up quickly so I can imagine they can get packed. Good alcohol selection and nice size menu. I am always on the look out for a delicious plate of "Khee Mao Noodles," better known as Drunken Noodles: the wide noodles that is. I had my drunken noodles with chicken at a real low spice level of two. The meal was $9.95. I had some hot Jasmine Tea for my beverage. The Khee Mao came very well presented with great color and crisp vegetables intermix. The noodles offered that fabulous soft texture but a slight chew as well. They were great eating but even better, they also had great flavor. The soy sauce and fish sauce were subtle and the meal came with just the right amount of garlic and Thai garlic. Both the chicken and vegetables were prepared with care and expertise. The chicken was tender, well seasoned, and carry the similar flavor of the noodles. They placed a very good amount of it with the noodles too. The vegetables, including the red and green peppers, and green beans were lightly cooked to preserve their crispiness and flavor. The also added great color to the noodles. The staff was very nice and attentive. The place is small inside but offers seating outside as well. Nice job Iron Pan staff. Food that is good and at the actual heat level expected. I had the beef salad at level 6, it was a level 6 and it was perfect. The Tom Yum soup was great and went very fast. The calamari was nice, probably something that is better in the restaurant (I ordered delivery), it was good anyway. The pot stickers were fantastic. Great flavor with lots of ginger. Not my favorite but not too shabby either. Iron Pan Thai Kitchen is an unassuming little restaurant located next to Everbowl, that serves up decent Thai food with quick service. I sampled their drunk noodles which tasted pretty much like any other Thai restaurant if I'm being honest. It didn't wow me but was still tasty. The flavors were typical of most so no issue there but I felt there could've been a bit more added to the dish. Texture of the noodles were good too, cooked up just right so there's a place. Service was kind and the restaurant itself is charming and clean. Parking is ample as well although during peak hours, it can get a bit congested. I saw another Yelper's comments about the take out experience vs. dine in experience. I might have to fall in line with the same sentiments and give this place another try where I dine in. We ordered take out and although they were nice, we had a mediocre-at-best experience and a questionable bill that we could not figure out. I did not sense any bad intent from the two folks at the front (appears to be a family run business), so I'm willing to give them another try and re-review accordingly. It's a very small restaurant in the shopping plaza that contains Sprouts. Ala Turca (omg they're closed now?!) was/ is a tasty Mediterranean location next door. As mentioned above, we did not dine in-- but were lured here just to pick up Thai on a Monday night. Not a whole lot of seating so I don't think it would be good for big groups.. but there's some and it does make for a cute date venue. Ordered via telephone and it was simple enough. Arrived later and food was still being made.. but no big deal.. Only thing that irked me a bit was the guy did not review my order when announcing the bill. I was a little surprised with how high it was and later when I came home and sat down with their take out menu print out and my calculator.. seems like they miscalculated something to their favor. Another thing: I did request that there be two orders made separate. I had to drop off to another family on my way home. Instead of separating the two, they just combined everything in one large box without clear labels of what dish was what. I had to spend the time there to bag my own food and separate it.. while trying to wave down one person's attention to clarify whether the opaque container had curry or soup.. (basically slowing the take OUT process a bit). The food was ok. The soup was delicious. The pad thai unimpressionable and needing more green onions. (With take out the rice noodle globbed together so it made it less fun to eat.) Crab fried rice was interesting. It's plain ol' Chinese fried rice with a layer of crab on top. I guess it should be mixed before eating.. but it wasn't too bad.. a little bland and greasy. Hubbie liked it a lot more than I did. Last, the thai tea was really tasty.. not too sweet and they didn't use the weird fake creamer that some places use to leave an almost greasy taste in your mouth. Good fresh tea flavors. Overall, not too bad.. it'll satisfy your craving for Thai food. I've definitely had worse.. but it's not the best I've had. I personally prefer a few places along Carmel Mtn and the 56 freeway over Iron Pan's take out experience, but again -- I'm happy to return and re-review. read more

The panang curry is not thick like I'm used to, but obviously fresh. While the rice comes out in the shape of a heart. The Thom Kha, Pineapple curry and panang curry are our go-tos here. We got to see the fresh food being delivered, from which the meals are prepared. Always nice to see that when you eat out. Also, their location is great.
