After 15 or so minutes, our server, who shall remain anonymous, takes our order. Pretty simple, the camarron tacos for me, fajitas for the wife. They arrive, again about 15 min later so, not too bad. As for the food, I can only speak on behalf of my tacos and I must say, they were very enjoyable. Wifey said the fajitas were "bland and not well seasoned". A very basic "just ok". I only finished two of the three tacos. Then, literally after we had both been finished for at least 20 min, our server comes back and asks if we would like anything else. At this point obviously not... And by this time, after having already been there for nearly an hour and a half, (with only 2 hrs in the meter across the street), we asked for a box for my remaining taco and the check. Well guess what, pardon the pun but Houdini reappears (or not) and it's at least another 15 minutes before he comes back with the check and doggie box. Was gonna pay cash on the bill but it would have resulted in a tip much more than he deserved... Ended up with 8 minutes on the meter. We will never come back to this location. I will patronize my preferred location in Pedro...

Apparently, everyone else in the South Bay had the same idea because the place was absolutely humming. Parking can sometimes be a challenge, just be patient. Fortunately, we had reservations and were quickly seated in a roomy table tucked away in the back corner. It turned out to be prime real estate: enough privacy for conversation, but still a great vantage point to take in the entire restaurant. The patio out front might be even better, though, if you're into people-watching. Catalina Avenue on a Friday night offers no shortage of entertainment. But for our group, this table was perfect. The interior has a warm, industrial feel, exposed brick, dark wood, metal accents, garage-style doors, and televisions scattered throughout. Oddly, the Dodgers game wasn't on. Maybe they don't get SportsNet LA. I never bothered to ask because the conversation at our table was far more enjoyable. Let's address the elephant in the room: Friday-night service. The place was packed, and our server was clearly running a marathon. He's usually stationed behind the bar, sports a sleeve of tattoos, looks super fit, and carries a permanent smile. He worked hard all evening, but there were some significant stretches where my Ikasu Ikasu West Coast IPA ($11) sat empty with no rescue in sight. A man can only stare sadly at an empty pint glass for so long. We started with the poutine fries, crispy fries loaded with gravy, skirt steak, mornay sauce, Gruyère, and green onions. They were outstanding and disappeared so quickly that I remembered to take a photo only after the massacre had already occurred, see my picture, LOL. Our server redeemed himself with his entrée recommendation: The Philly. Thinly sliced ribeye, grilled onions, sweet and hot peppers, house sauce, all piled into a sesame roll. It was fantastic, messy, savory, and exactly what you want from a cheesesteak. My wife paired a Harmonia Mango Wheat ($11) with the Blue Cheese Avocado Burger ($20), a hefty seven-ounce burger topped with melted blue cheese, grilled onions, avocado, applewood bacon, and arugula. She was a happy camper. Our friends split the same burger and also ordered the hummus appetizer, adding filet mignon on top. Excellent call, I snuck a few bites! To their credit, at the end of the evening our server came back to the table, apologized for the pacing, and made amends with a complimentary Crafted Cookie: a warm chocolate-chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. At the end of the day, restaurants are about more than perfect timing and topped-off beers. They're about sharing stories, laughing with friends, and breaking bread with people you enjoy being around. The service had its ups and downs, but the food was solid, the atmosphere lively, and Riviera Village on a summer Friday night is hard to beat.

One of my personal favorites is the Milagro Nitro Stout. They even have "flavored water" like Modelo for those with questionable taste in beer. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. It's the kind of place where you can bring your kids, meet friends, or simply unwind after work. The background music is usually classic rock played at a reasonable volume, so you can actually hold a conversation. Large TVs above the bar typically have sports on, adding to the laid-back vibe. The service is another reason I keep coming back. Both bartenders are absolute class acts--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the beer they serve. Whether you're a craft beer veteran or someone trying something new, they make you feel welcome and are always happy to offer recommendations. The food deserves recognition as well. I've tried a variety of menu items over multiple visits and haven't been disappointed. In fact, I'm genuinely surprised when I see complaints about the food on Yelp. It's good bar food done right, not a gourmet restaurant pretending to be something it's not. Needless to say, I'll be back. Actually, I already have been--many times. If you're looking for great beer, great people, a comfortable atmosphere, and solid food in Redondo Beach, this place is well worth a visit.

The king crab roll was decent, although I found it somewhat bland and wished it had a little more flavor. Overall, I had a really enjoyable experience. There were a few hits and misses, but the dishes that stood out were excellent, the service was great, and I thought the pricing was very reasonable for the overall experience. Just in time for AAPI Heritage Month, Proudly Serving collaborated with Filipino American kickboxing champion Jackie Buntan. Jackie grew up in the South Bay and is a fan of Proudly Serving, thus leading to her collaborating with them. The Buntan Burger by Jackie Buntan x Proudly Serving is a celebration of Filipino heritage and flavor in every bite. It has a double patty, mozzarella cheese, banana ketchup aioli, longganisa, and atchara on soft pandesal from Gemmae Bakeshop. I really enjoyed this burger. I loved how they used pandesal and how they had a lot of Filipino ingredients in this burger. The longganisa paired well with the burger patty and gave the burger a nice, sweet touch. I also really liked the touch of banana ketchup aioli and atchara. Aside from The Buntan Burger, I got the PS Fries. I've gotten these fries before and they still remain to be some of the best fries I've ever tried. The thick fries are so crisp and delicious. I am fan of the generous toppings of burger patty, cheese, griddled onions, pickles and special sauce. I love the PS Fries but definitely also want to try the Chili Cheese Fries next time. Absolutely obsessed with IShabu Shabu. This place is a total gem. The lunch special is an unreal deal at $20. You get high-quality meat, tons of fresh veggies, udon, rice, and a flavorful broth that's perfect every time. It's so filling and satisfying that it honestly feels like a steal. The service is next-level. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. You can tell they really care about the experience. And on top of all that, the ocean view is incredible. Sipping hot broth while looking out at the water is elite lunchtime energy. If you are going to be such a total copy: you better make it as good if not better to justify same pricing. It's not. You are far inferior. 2. Meat quality despite getting the Kobe was tough and dry. And their own waiters were not sure if I got the correct meat, thinking it may have been the lowest quality one?!? 3. Service is non existent. Getting water is work. 4. I got to try A5 wagyu beef and it did not disappoint! The interior is bar style, people can be at the counter for individual pot, I was there at peak hour when it was full house. I honestly think ISHABU SHABU is the best. I just asked the staff to recommend us proteins and they were all delicious. Some of them were a little more tender than others, but overall it was a great experience, cooking the beef ourselves and getting to try premium wagyu at great price. read more

My recommendation: ensure the garlic and scallion are added to your goma sauce for enhanced flavor. On a brighter note, the signature cut provided a much more satisfying taste. Looks like one room has singing or karaoke at night?! The Ramen I got totally hit the spot. I love garlic Ramen. There were a lot of great flavors and textures in the Ramen and I was able to adjust the spice level on the miso. I think I went with medium it was a good level, not spicy. The karage chicken was crispy on the side moist on the inside. Love the bite-size pieces. The gyozas were OK, but I kind of found the inside a little bit mushy which left the flavor a little bit flat. But the outside texture was great. Still, I would definitely go back and try other things and go for the ramen happy hour!

The place isn't big and there was one guy working the floor that night. The lighting was a bit too dim overall and one of the stove was broken at the table we were at so they brought in a portable one to use. Sauce area was a bit messy and service could be better. I think with some repairs and improvements to this restaurant, it could function better and be even more popular. Food was decent and good and was at a fair price point. It didn't leave a memorable impact except for the price. If we're in the area, we'll come back to try again to see if it's improved.
