    Meat lovers for 2

My husband and I came here for dinner around 6:30 pm on a Friday night. Street parking was easy to find nearby. We came without a reservation as they don't take reservations for parties less than four people. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived and we were seated immediately. The nice thing about this restaurant is that each person has their own hotpot, and each hotpot is also split, so you get to try two sauces. There are different set menus you can choose from, or you can also order meats a la carte, though I do think the sets are better value. We ordered the takoyaki to share between us. I liked these but my husband, who doesn't like takoyaki that much, thought they were just fine. The meats and veggies that we got here were just fine. There was nothing bad about them, but I thought they were pretty mediocre--I honestly thought I could have made a better hotpot shopping at the grocery and making my own at home. Service was friendly and efficient. Based on this experience, I don't think I'll return.

Came here for the first time and was so impressed with how many options there were with customization. The broths were so flavorful and all the ingredients were fresh. The fried quid legs were good! I can't wait to come back and try their other broths.

Only the 2nd time I've done shabu shabu and I'm so impressed! I've driven by this place a million times and finally pulled the trigger and gave it a try. We got: * Takoyaki - yum! * Calamari- Yum! * Spicy Tonkotsu & Kimchi broths - both incredibly flavorful, would get both again * Ribeye Choice, Pork, Beef tongue -Tender and enhanced the flavor of the broth * Chu-Hi Peach & Apple drinks - SO refreshing! Would come back for a couple of those after the beach this summer. MUST HAVES!! We took all the staff recommendations and are happy with all their suggestions thank you!

Great Shabu shabu place. My husband brought me here on a date after having a friend rave about it from work. We had never been and honestly probably had no idea what we were doing at first but it was fun and we did get the hang of it. I think I even burnt some crab and the server had to put my temp down for the pot lol. Was a bit embarrassed lol luckily we sat next to a couple who were friendly and exchanged a few words and some tips on how to order next time. This was a while ago, but since then we have been to a few more shabu places and enjoy this as a treat once in a while. Yes it is pricey but the quality of food is great and you can customize it. The service is quick and attentive, the place is small and clean and the food is fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area! Great date night idea!

Tried Ishabu Shabu in Redondo Beach and was hoping to satisfy my craving for Japanese hot pot. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. The tonkotsu broth and sukiyaki were very bland; the sukiyaki barely had any taste and didn't seem authentic. Both the goma sauce and ponzu sauce lacked flavor and authenticity as well. The meat was tasty, but for $39, the portion felt small and limited. The fried oysters were overcooked and slightly burnt, making $11.99 for 4 pieces feel overpriced and not worth it. The staff seemed rushed, and the place felt understaffed. Overall, I'd rate it 3 out of 5 stars. I don't think I'll be returning. I was really hoping that this place would be good since there are limited options for Japanese hot pot in the West LA area.

Absolutely the best Shabushabu experience. The servers were amazing especially John. The quality of the meat is just the best all the way. They cut it in front of you. I really love the ambiance here and all the experiences. I will definitely come back here again with my family!

This tiny little joint has been open some time and I just discovered it. Service was really great and the ambiance was neighborhood feeling kind of a joint. Food was pretty good and felt it was a bit over priced. Me and my kid shared and after ordering a combo meat plate (comes with veggies). You can alway order more, we everything is à la la la cart. Their "kimchi" soup broth was tasty, especially after adding all the meats and veggies. After all said and done, sharing 1 Shabu pot and 1sparkly water, $82....

Clean, fresh, delicious hotpot place nearby the beach. Servers are friendly providing great service. Good for family dinner and date night!

Exec summary : I was pleasantly surprised how nice this place was 1- parking Free lot behind the restaurant or plenty of street parking 2- food They have you crush fresh sesame to side in the dip. I've never even seen that in Japan. Pretty neat feature Plenty of choices of types of meat. Do not bother getting the large serving of meat. The difference in amount is t worth the price up Don't forget to save the noodles for last. In Japan, the being you a bowl with a small amount of fish sauce in it which you supplement with the broth from the shabu bowl. Here you just get noodles and the bowl 3- ambiance Interesting layout. The hot pots are over electric conduction heaters. The only problem is that it's a pretty long reach. The pots themselves are like nothing I've seen before. I thought they were steamers. Strange conical protrusion Overall Bit of a strange location and layout. Not a lot of space for folks waiting for their seats. But some of the best shabu in the South Bay and my new "go to"

Closer to four and a half stars! I'm a fan of this restaurant, great vibes overall and a very nice interior. Even their plates and bowls looked more aesthetically pleasing than other restaurants I've been to. Our staff was nice and friendly to us. Cook at your own pace! Love this concept at hot pot restaurants. The presentation a this restaurant is A+ compared to other hot pot restaurants. I really enjoy the fact that they give you tongs, and a big spoon for you to place your meat in the broth and also grab broth whenever you want. So many other hot pot restaurants lack this. Quality was decent. And they gave a lot of veggies too which is always great! One main concern was they never came to refill our broths. Regardless that wasn't a big deal to us. If you're in the area, I'd recommend this place!

Lively joint, tons of decorations, musica blasting, whistles blowing, etc. Looking good... Promptly seated and greeted by staff. Drink orders placed relatively quickly and delivered not quite as quickly. I thought, "thats ok", as they were a tad busy. Not packed, but busy. Afterwards, I also requested additional chips, which BTW, never arrived... That is where it started a slow roll downhill that quickly spiraled into a steep hill, no brakes situation. After 15 or so minutes, our server, who shall remain anonymous, takes our order. Pretty simple, the camarron tacos for me, fajitas for the wife. They arrive, again about 15 min later so, not too bad. As for the food, I can only speak on behalf of my tacos and I must say, they were very enjoyable. Wifey said the fajitas were "bland and not well seasoned". A very basic "just ok". I only finished two of the three tacos. Then, literally after we had both been finished for at least 20 min, our server comes back and asks if we would like anything else. At this point obviously not... And by this time, after having already been there for nearly an hour and a half, (with only 2 hrs in the meter across the street), we asked for a box for my remaining taco and the check. Well guess what, pardon the pun but Houdini reappears (or not) and it's at least another 15 minutes before he comes back with the check and doggie box. Was gonna pay cash on the bill but it would have resulted in a tip much more than he deserved... Ended up with 8 minutes on the meter. We will never come back to this location. I will patronize my preferred location in Pedro...

Apparently, everyone else in the South Bay had the same idea because the place was absolutely humming. Parking can sometimes be a challenge, just be patient. Fortunately, we had reservations and were quickly seated in a roomy table tucked away in the back corner. It turned out to be prime real estate: enough privacy for conversation, but still a great vantage point to take in the entire restaurant. The patio out front might be even better, though, if you're into people-watching. Catalina Avenue on a Friday night offers no shortage of entertainment. But for our group, this table was perfect. The interior has a warm, industrial feel, exposed brick, dark wood, metal accents, garage-style doors, and televisions scattered throughout. Oddly, the Dodgers game wasn't on. Maybe they don't get SportsNet LA. I never bothered to ask because the conversation at our table was far more enjoyable. Let's address the elephant in the room: Friday-night service. The place was packed, and our server was clearly running a marathon. He's usually stationed behind the bar, sports a sleeve of tattoos, looks super fit, and carries a permanent smile. He worked hard all evening, but there were some significant stretches where my Ikasu Ikasu West Coast IPA ($11) sat empty with no rescue in sight. A man can only stare sadly at an empty pint glass for so long. We started with the poutine fries, crispy fries loaded with gravy, skirt steak, mornay sauce, Gruyère, and green onions. They were outstanding and disappeared so quickly that I remembered to take a photo only after the massacre had already occurred, see my picture, LOL. Our server redeemed himself with his entrée recommendation: The Philly. Thinly sliced ribeye, grilled onions, sweet and hot peppers, house sauce, all piled into a sesame roll. It was fantastic, messy, savory, and exactly what you want from a cheesesteak. My wife paired a Harmonia Mango Wheat ($11) with the Blue Cheese Avocado Burger ($20), a hefty seven-ounce burger topped with melted blue cheese, grilled onions, avocado, applewood bacon, and arugula. She was a happy camper. Our friends split the same burger and also ordered the hummus appetizer, adding filet mignon on top. Excellent call, I snuck a few bites! To their credit, at the end of the evening our server came back to the table, apologized for the pacing, and made amends with a complimentary Crafted Cookie: a warm chocolate-chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. At the end of the day, restaurants are about more than perfect timing and topped-off beers. They're about sharing stories, laughing with friends, and breaking bread with people you enjoy being around. The service had its ups and downs, but the food was solid, the atmosphere lively, and Riviera Village on a summer Friday night is hard to beat.

I'm partial to West Coast IPAs, and they have several excellent options, but the selection doesn't stop there. You'll find New England IPAs, porters, stouts, and everything in between. It's the kind of place where you can bring your kids, meet friends, or simply unwind after work. The background music is usually classic rock played at a reasonable volume, so you can actually hold a conversation. Large TVs above the bar typically have sports on, adding to the laid-back vibe. The service is another reason I keep coming back. Both bartenders are absolute class acts--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the beer they serve. Whether you're a craft beer veteran or someone trying something new, they make you feel welcome and are always happy to offer recommendations. The food deserves recognition as well. It tasted like a watered-down sour drink, and I could barely taste the alcohol. We started with the Peruvian scallops and BBQ oysters. The scallops were one of the highlights of the night. They were served with a mango cube in each, which added a refreshing sweetness that paired surprisingly well with the scallops. The BBQ oysters, on the other hand, weren't really for me. The sauce and seasoning overpowered the natural flavor of the oysters, and I personally prefer preparations that allow the oyster itself to be the star. For our entrees, we ordered the short rib pappardelle, king crab roll, and New York strip. The short rib pappardelle was easily my favorite dish of the night. The short rib was incredibly tender, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were rich without being overwhelming. Everything complemented each other really well. The New York strip was slightly more cooked than I would have preferred and a little salty, but it was still enjoyable. The king crab roll was decent, although I found it somewhat bland and wished it had a little more flavor. Overall, I had a really enjoyable experience. There were a few hits and misses, but the dishes that stood out were excellent, the service was great, and I thought the pricing was very reasonable for the overall experience. I would definitely come back and try more of the menu.
