My husband and I came here for dinner around 6:30 pm on a Friday night. Street parking was easy to find nearby. We came without a reservation as they don't take reservations for parties less than four people. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived and we were seated immediately. The nice thing about this restaurant is that each person has their own hotpot, and each hotpot is also split, so you get to try two sauces. There are different set menus you can choose from, or you can also order meats a la carte, though I do think the sets are better value. We ordered the takoyaki to share between us. I liked these but my husband, who doesn't like takoyaki that much, thought they were just fine. The meats and veggies that we got here were just fine. There was nothing bad about them, but I thought they were pretty mediocre--I honestly thought I could have made a better hotpot shopping at the grocery and making my own at home. Service was friendly and efficient. Based on this experience, I don't think I'll return.

Came here for the first time and was so impressed with how many options there were with customization. The broths were so flavorful and all the ingredients were fresh. The fried quid legs were good! I can't wait to come back and try their other broths.

Only the 2nd time I've done shabu shabu and I'm so impressed! I've driven by this place a million times and finally pulled the trigger and gave it a try. We got: * Takoyaki - yum! * Calamari- Yum! * Spicy Tonkotsu & Kimchi broths - both incredibly flavorful, would get both again * Ribeye Choice, Pork, Beef tongue -Tender and enhanced the flavor of the broth * Chu-Hi Peach & Apple drinks - SO refreshing! Would come back for a couple of those after the beach this summer. MUST HAVES!! We took all the staff recommendations and are happy with all their suggestions thank you!

Great Shabu shabu place. My husband brought me here on a date after having a friend rave about it from work. We had never been and honestly probably had no idea what we were doing at first but it was fun and we did get the hang of it. I think I even burnt some crab and the server had to put my temp down for the pot lol. Was a bit embarrassed lol luckily we sat next to a couple who were friendly and exchanged a few words and some tips on how to order next time. This was a while ago, but since then we have been to a few more shabu places and enjoy this as a treat once in a while. Yes it is pricey but the quality of food is great and you can customize it. The service is quick and attentive, the place is small and clean and the food is fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area! Great date night idea!

Tried Ishabu Shabu in Redondo Beach and was hoping to satisfy my craving for Japanese hot pot. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. The tonkotsu broth and sukiyaki were very bland; the sukiyaki barely had any taste and didn't seem authentic. Both the goma sauce and ponzu sauce lacked flavor and authenticity as well. The meat was tasty, but for $39, the portion felt small and limited. The fried oysters were overcooked and slightly burnt, making $11.99 for 4 pieces feel overpriced and not worth it. The staff seemed rushed, and the place felt understaffed. Overall, I'd rate it 3 out of 5 stars. I don't think I'll be returning. I was really hoping that this place would be good since there are limited options for Japanese hot pot in the West LA area.

Absolutely the best Shabushabu experience. The servers were amazing especially John. The quality of the meat is just the best all the way. They cut it in front of you. I really love the ambiance here and all the experiences. I will definitely come back here again with my family!

This tiny little joint has been open some time and I just discovered it. Service was really great and the ambiance was neighborhood feeling kind of a joint. Food was pretty good and felt it was a bit over priced. Me and my kid shared and after ordering a combo meat plate (comes with veggies). You can alway order more, we everything is à la la la cart. Their "kimchi" soup broth was tasty, especially after adding all the meats and veggies. After all said and done, sharing 1 Shabu pot and 1sparkly water, $82....

Clean, fresh, delicious hotpot place nearby the beach. Servers are friendly providing great service. Good for family dinner and date night!

Exec summary : I was pleasantly surprised how nice this place was 1- parking Free lot behind the restaurant or plenty of street parking 2- food They have you crush fresh sesame to side in the dip. I've never even seen that in Japan. Pretty neat feature Plenty of choices of types of meat. Do not bother getting the large serving of meat. The difference in amount is t worth the price up Don't forget to save the noodles for last. In Japan, the being you a bowl with a small amount of fish sauce in it which you supplement with the broth from the shabu bowl. Here you just get noodles and the bowl 3- ambiance Interesting layout. The hot pots are over electric conduction heaters. The only problem is that it's a pretty long reach. The pots themselves are like nothing I've seen before. I thought they were steamers. Strange conical protrusion Overall Bit of a strange location and layout. Not a lot of space for folks waiting for their seats. But some of the best shabu in the South Bay and my new "go to"

Closer to four and a half stars! I'm a fan of this restaurant, great vibes overall and a very nice interior. Even their plates and bowls looked more aesthetically pleasing than other restaurants I've been to. Our staff was nice and friendly to us. Cook at your own pace! Love this concept at hot pot restaurants. The presentation a this restaurant is A+ compared to other hot pot restaurants. I really enjoy the fact that they give you tongs, and a big spoon for you to place your meat in the broth and also grab broth whenever you want. So many other hot pot restaurants lack this. Quality was decent. And they gave a lot of veggies too which is always great! One main concern was they never came to refill our broths. Regardless that wasn't a big deal to us. If you're in the area, I'd recommend this place!

It was fine. Maybe a bit bland. Overpriced for what it is. Service was fairly good. Ambiance is mix of what is available from promoters.

The house poke salad was fresh and flavorful, the pan-fried pork gyoza had a crispy exterior with a juicy filling, and the grilled jumbo scallop and shrimp skewers were cooked perfectly. The Wagyu ribeye yakitori was incredibly tender and full of smoky flavor. We also enjoyed the Lychee Mocktail and the 5 Sake Flight, which was a fun way to sample different styles of Japanese sake. After that, we headed inside for the hot pot experience. We tried four broths--Kombu, Tonkotsu, Spicy Miso, and Sukiyaki--and each one brought something different to the table. My favorite was the rich Tonkotsu, while the Kombu was perfect for letting the quality of the ingredients shine. For the meats, we ordered the Royal Beef Experience with ribeye, chuck roll, and beef belly, along with the Royal Seafood Set featuring shrimp, Atlantic salmon, fresh scallops, fish balls, and the chef's curated seafood selection. Everything was fresh and high quality. The standout of the night was the Japanese A5 Miyazaki Wagyu. The marbling was incredible, and after just a few seconds in the broth, it practically melted in my mouth. It was easily one of the best Wagyu experiences I've had. To finish the meal, we shared the matcha cheesecake and matcha ice cream, which were the perfect ending. The service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was welcoming from start to finish. I also love that they offer both an outdoor patio with a full bar menu and a premium hot pot experience inside, making it a great spot whether you're looking for drinks and appetizers or a full dinner. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend King Plus Shabu Shabu if you're looking for quality Japanese food and premium hot pot in the South Bay.

Shout out to Eric who helped amplify the experience as we moved through our dinner. He brought a joy to our table, and kept us in positive spirits. Love the "Let Us Choose For You" option which allows you to experience 3 meats (ribeye, chuck, beef belly) as well as appetizer and a drink. A great deal and quality of food. Spacious, comfortable establishment, and easy parking. I'll definitely be back.

I remember this…read moreGardena location through different iterations, different menus, different servers, different stages of my own life. Somehow, after all that time, the version I've become most attached to is the one I was initially least interested in trying. The shabu shabu. I have an almost irrational distrust of the words all you can eat. Too often it means somebody with a spreadsheet figured out exactly how thin the beef needs to be before the economics work. More food, less quality, clever tiers and by the end you've eaten twice what you wanted and enjoyed half of it. Shin-Sen-Gumi completely surprised me. My wife and I now come here almost every week, usually for lunch and the lunch sets are fantastic. The Kobe style beef is tender without disappearing the second it touches the broth. It still has texture, flavor and enough substance to feel like you're actually eating good beef. The beef belly looks almost comically fatty when it arrives, then somehow cooks into something rich and satisfying without becoming greasy. The A5 wagyu is even better. A5 can sometimes become three bites of expensive butter, but this has enough bite and structure to keep it interesting. The thickness of the slices is right, which matters more in shabu shabu than people realize. The supporting cast is equally strong. Huge shiitake mushrooms, napa cabbage, good ponzu, sesame sauce, raw egg for sukiyaki and genuinely excellent hot drops. My only real complaint is that the non AYCE lunch sets could use a more generous vegetable portion. I'd happily take more napa, mushrooms and noodles alongside the meat. What really keeps us coming back, though, is the service. The staff here are genuinely thoughtful. Attentive without hovering, warm without turning hospitality into a performance. We've gotten to know a few of the servers simply because we come so often and that familiarity makes the place feel even better. The restaurant itself is straightforward, clean and organized. Lunch can sometimes be surprisingly empty, which I honestly consider a gift. You sit down, the broth starts bubbling, the meat arrives, everything you need is within reach and for an hour life becomes considerably simpler. I never expected to rediscover a restaurant I'd known for so long and become more attached to it now than I ever was before. Sometimes a place just gets the fundamentals right often enough that you stop evaluating it and start developing a habit. Shin-Sen-Gumi has become that place for us.

Definitely recommend making a reservation because it can get busy and you'll save yourself the wait. We usually prefer sitting at the bar instead of a table--it's just our favorite vibe. If you love spicy food, definitely ask the staff for the "hot drop" . I'd recommend starting with 1 drop before going up to 2. Two is my limit, but even that really kicks it up a notch. Rain or shine, hot or cold, this is always our go-to spot. Love this place.
