A good shabu-shabu place. We've been here twice and service has been friendly and relatively prompt. The quality of meat has been good and served with a nice mix of veggies and also noodles for your soup/broth at the end. We tend to go with the basics here rather than for the add-ons for the cooking broth. Their $11 lunch is only 3 oz., and regularly sized portions are about twice that or more, so it's not the best of lunch deals really for my larger appetite. I m a regular to the place. Reason I go the place regularly is because of the quality of the food. However my dining experience from this Sunday was different. The prime rib quality is not as good as before. The meat is not fat at all. I ordered 2 large prime rib and 1 signature. The signature one is even better than the prime rib. That's not my most disappointing issue. The worst is the white rice. Way too much water and too sticky. It's a shame to see that rice from a quality Japanese restaurant. So the workers are in a very nice polite respectful the food came in time everything was amazing my problem is is that I don't think they're very professional when it comes down to charging people specially when they get a big amount of tips from those customers and I think that they don't pay attention when they charge people I was charged twice for the same order last night after leaving an amazing tip so now I have to call my bank file a claim for the second charge to be taken off I have to wait another 30 days for the chair because they have up to 30 days to charge you for the tip so now on the second transaction now I have to wait another 30 days and call back my bank and have to ask my bank to file another claim for the chip for the second transaction so they basically charged me twice I honestly think that's like very unprofessional to charge somebody twice for the same meal read more

The service and the food (volume) has gone down considerably since they first opened. When they first opened, I would give them 5 stars - they gave you complimentary seaweed salad and a complimentary dollop of ice cream for dessert during their grand opening promo period which lasted for a few months. The vegetable bowl that they give alongside the meat plate used to be overflowing. They would ask you if you wanted spice drops in your dish or wanted additional broth or rice. The service was so good. Now that they have been opened for a while, so many things have changed for the worse. 1. They charge for spice drops now - which is ridiculous - since they are micro droplets. They started at $1 and now I believe it has gone up to $2. So not worth it. 2. If you order the sukiyaki broth, they no longer give you both the ponzu and sesame sauce along with the raw egg sauce - you have to pick one or the other - which annoys me because you are paying the $2 additional fee anyway. Before they would give you the raw egg plus the 2 sauces. Now, if you want both the raw egg and the 2 sauces - they will charge for that as well. 3. Service is not good. You have to flag them down and ask for additional broth or additional rice (which is still complimentary - thank God). Past 3 times we went, we had to ask them to give us water because 1) they never asked if we wanted a beverage 2) they didn't realize we didn't have any drinks. 4. The vegetable bowls are shrinking every single time we come. What once was overflowing, now they fit the bare minimum to fill the bowl to make it look like it's been filled. Also, some items are no longer offered. 5. No more complimentary seaweed salad or ice cream at the end. The silver lining to this is that they now have an all day Wednesday special which is $16.99 for lean kobe meal only, which is fine by us. But if you get the sukiyaki broth, that will bring you right up to $42-ish BEFORE tip. So you are looking at a $50 ish meal for 2 on a discounted night. Came here for the $11.99 lunch special after walking by the beach, and I'm glad I stumbled upon Ishabushabu. For the protein, I got the beef, and my mom got the chicken. With your choice of meat, they also give a plate of assorted veggies (cabbage, tofu, carrot..) and udon noodles. In separate bowls they give ponzu sauce, sesame sauce, and a soup base for the udon noodles, which I recommend cooking at the end. And also a bowl of white or brown rice! I enjoyed the cleanliness of the restaurant and the fact that they gave extra garlic/green onions, and grated radish for you to put into the ponzu and sesame dipping sauces. I liked the sauces at IShabuShabu a lot more than other Shabu places in the area, but I thought that their portions were a little on the smaller side. For my mother and I, it was perfect, but I can't imagine people with larger appetites being satisfied with the portions of veggies and meats. But it also might be that their lunch special sizes are smaller. Regardless, I thought the meat and veggies were very fresh and I enjoyed the entire experience. Horrible service, there were about 4 parties waiting outside for at least 45 minutes. They continue to seat 2 parties who came after all of us and who only had to wait about 15 minutes. They didn't even read names off of the list, just seated randomly. Whats the point of having a list then? We all continue to wait inside and every single worker ignored us. Unfortunately the quality of this place has gone way downhill. The food is nothing like it was when I first came :( The meat is not great (portion size is tiny, def doesn't seem like 6 oz?), the brown rice literally was cooked with way too much water that it was basically mochi, the sauces don't taste great and the "broth" you cook the meat in has absolutely no aroma of kombu. Rightfully so, since they use 1 tiny square (like 1" no joke) of kombu for an entire pot of plain water. Come to think of it, I'm not completely sure what we received was even prime ($19 for regular). There was almost no marbling and the meat looked nothing like the photos I had taken before. I don't think I'll be coming back. For lunch, we spent close to $50 and we left very disappointed. It's really too bad since it used to be my fav shabu place in LA! read more

My friend and I wanted to do hot pot and although we are both used to Chinese style, we thought we'd give this place a shot. I'm glad we did. The peanut sesame sauce was ok but the Ponzo sauce was simply amazing! The portions were pretty good but we did need to order an additional side. I'm vegetarian so I ordered an extra side of tofu (not on the menu but they can do it for you). We were both quite satisfied afterwards. I came here on a Saturday with my out of town friend was looking to eat at shabu shabu. Based on the area, we had about three main choices that stuck out, King Shabu Shabu, IShabu Shabu and Momo-Paradise in Torrance. I've been to the other two already so we decided on IShabu. Logistics wise, this place is easy to get to, they have free parking which holds about 18 parking spots and if there is no parking available, then street parking is easy because it's next to a residential neighborhood. There was no wait at 1pm on Saturday and there was plenty of seats to choose from. I ordered the Kimchi broth with 6 oz lean cut and I substituted the udon noodles for extra veggies. The broth quality was great and the Kimchi broth had a little kick to it as well and the meat quality was on point. To stand out, they give you sesame seeds to grind before they put the peanut sauce over it. My friend said that this is one of the best shabu shabu places he has eaten at and he is Japanese, can tell good food from bad food, and has been to Japan to try authentic Japanese food too. The only annoyance I had was that it took about 5-10 minutes for them to bring our waters out, I asked a couple times for water when I did not have any at my table, and they did not some of beverages listed on their menu. Shabu shabu is my absolutely fav! I'm so happy I discovered another shabu spot to add to my go-to dinner spots! I usually go to Cerritos (I'm from the South bay) for my shabu fix since I haven't found a good alternative nearby.. I think I've finally found it here! My boyfriend and I usually share a set so we ordered an 8oz ribeye choice with miso broth. -1 star because their miso broth isn't as good as other places. First time come to this Shabu Shabu. It was pretty quiet on a weekday lunch. The food here has pretty good quality. We ordered the lamb+prime Ribeye combo and chicken+shrimp combo. The meat was sliced right there by order. Meat was tender, beef tasted the best among everything. Shrimps were jumbo size, easy to be over cooked though. The high light of this place was the sauce. Fresh sesame added a rich creamy flavor. The house soy sauce was good too. Depends on how you use it. We cooked our udon noodles at the end and was very delicious. They also had some small dishes for lunch. The service was very good here too. We used our Groupon and only payed less than $20. read more

I'm just going to come out and say it... IShabu provided the best service that I've ever had at a shabu spot. The first time i tried shabu i had zero clue what i was doing. the friend i was with gave me some tips but i got little to no help from the staff (who kinda treated me like a shabu reject for not already knowing the deal) so i wound up just doing my own thing which actually turned out to be pretty good if i do say so myself. ok- back to IShabu- we're seated within 2 minutes of walking in, drink orders sent and menus given. our sever walks up through the differences in broths and recommends a few. based on the broth we selected, the server suggests a protein. I ordered a split pot with Tonkatsu and Sukiyaki broths. when the broth came, they brought me an egg in a small dipping bowl- i knew from experience that the egg is traditionally served when you order sukiyaki broth. But- when one of the guys helping us asked if i wanted him to help me with making my egg sauce i was surprised-- wait what?! i'm not supposed to just dip the meat in the plain egg once i wisk it wiht my copsticks? so the guy walks me through the things to add --- and even told me the ratios! 1 scoop of garlic 2 scoops of daicon 2 scoops of green onion 1 splash of chili oil it was killer! the service was top notch during our time there. i will absolutely be back and absolutly recommend you go see for yourself! read more

Moved to 90277 and love shabu-shabu so we had to try this. They slice the meats fresh with one of those butcher shop thin slicing machines. Tried half of the meats on first trip and will do the other half next time. Nice staff and typical current price for dinner out level bill. read more
