Another great spot for a meal on the water! We were on our way back to Key Largo after tooling around Islamorada, and had already eaten at the Island Grill up there when we saw the sign for this location off the highway. We had to stop! We chose to eat outside at the "beach" area. To get there was interesting -- walk along a REALLY narrow dock that snakes around the back area, along the water, with no railing, all the way to the back where there is water, sand, a stage, and several beachy tables with umbrellas. We weren't super hungry so we just split an order of conch fritters and had a couple of drinks. The service was friendly, and the conch fritters were good -- there was a lot more conch in the fritters than what I've experienced at other restaurants. We didn't stay longer than probably 45 minutes, but it was a really nice stop on our way back up. One thing I noticed as we walked back was that we could have snuck through the bar to avoid the super narrow dock, however, walking through the bar isn't nearly as scenic as the walk along the water. If you're inebriated though, skip the dock walk! read more

Walking in....it smells great. 2 rules in the keys....1. do NOT eat at a place that requires a huge billboard with a picture of a fish sandwich to entice you to eat there and 2. DO eat at a place (like this) with a bunch of local boats docked and mostly florida license plates in the parking lot. Tuna Nachos are outstanding. Burgers are good, fish tacos are done well (order some of the Conch Fritter Sauce with the tacos), Mahi Reuben is very tasty.....come to think about it....everything I've ever had here was REALLY good. They have a nice bar too. Even fries are good....pretty sure they use peanut oil....gives a really good flavor. We had sweet tea and sandwiches, sitting out on the covered dock. The aforementioned Jimmy Buffett impersonator wasn't so good, but it was otherwise a nice location to look out on the water. The food was OK. Not great, not bad, but combined with the nice location (both on the water and in terms of its location in the Keys) it's worth a visit if it's mealtime. Incidentally, the waitress messed up my wife's order and added sweet potato fries, which she never mentioned and didn't want. This place sucked. Definetly had the locals only vibe. My food was overcooked and very dry, which was surprising because I just got chicken wings. The haggard waitress was extremely rude while taking our order and "forgot" to bring our drinks. Probably could have sensed we were tourists so we got treated as such. Tuna Nachos. I don't care about anything else on the menu, it is the Tuna Nachos that floats my boat in the keys. Sashimi tuna on a bed of wakame on top of a fried won ton, drizzled with wasabi cream sauce and sriracha. Outstanding! The mussels were okay (good, but nothing special), the conch chowder was good and spicy, the smoked fish dip was also a standout, and the whole hig fish was a little over-fried, but the sweet chili sauce covered it up decently enough. I would definitely recommend this place as a "Keys" place - and you have to get the Tuna Nachos. We were looking for a good meal while in Islamorada and wanted to go offsite from our hotel. Island Grill offered a water front spot. The sign out front says they have world famous tuna nachos so we had to try those. They were DELICIOUS! it was the perfect amount of wontons to wasabi to tuna. And the tuna was quality. Magnificent! Island grill makes me want to move to Islamorada. This place really is that great! Let's start with the spectacular views. There are different rooms and an outdoor seating area to provide the maximum amount of tables on the water. The water is clear and the restaurant is surrounded by water on two sides as the restaurant is on the furthest tip of land. The bartender waited on us and was so helpful we never even looked at the menu. My bloody orange mojito was outstanding, my ahi tuna nachos were life changing, and the scallops were mouthwatering. 4 not 5 stars. The staff was AMAZING. We live a few hours away and were down for Labor Day weekend. With a 2 yr old. By the time we got here, someone was very hungry and tired, and we were exhausted from cleaning the car from a sick baby. Unfortunately, as can happen at an outdoor restaurant in FL, the mosquitoes were feasting on him, and the two of us. The staff could not have been nicer, they got us bug spray and helped us get the first available table inside, a table that seated 8, but they hooked us up anyway even though they could have given it to a bigger party. We each got a drink (well earned after a long day with a baby in the keys). And the Key Lime Martini is my new favorite! I will absolutely be back for another next time I am down. The Tuna Nachos were ok, chunks of rare ahi on top of seaweeds salad over 4 wantons, which got a tad soggy by the time we found them. I would have preferred a few shoved on the side and a spoon to head the tuna on top rather than digging them out from the bottom. They use seaweed salad on top along with the tuna and I'm picky about my seaweed salad but it was good. The fish tacos were just ok. Mine were with blackened shrimp, good not great. His were grilled mahi mahi, which he felt was beyond bland. Gave him the second of mine which he thought was just ok. But it didn't come with anything on the side, just two tacos on a plate. For the price they could have thrown in some rice or something. Our two drinks, two orders of fish tacos, a kid's Mac & cheese, and the tuna nachos was $80. So not terrible but not cheap either. But when I unwrapped my silverware there was a small bug, maybe a European Earwig. I know it can happen but still sort of icked me out. And the bathroom (one room, with two stalls, one for men and one for women) was sort of gross. Someone peed all over the two stalls and the AC didn't work. I can only base my review on what I've had here and that's the grouper fish sandwich, it's my all time favorite fish sandwich EVER! We've been here several times and I can't bring myself to order anything else. The staff was very nice and we love the view. Great ambiance and the times I've been haven't ever been overly busy (which I love) it's a relaxing little place you could pull up to with your boat and head back to the sandbar after you're done with your lunch. First visit here. Amazing breakfast! The service was spectacular! Thomas was very attentive and did not disappoint!

Made reservations to see Comedy Show, called the day before to ensure if they were handicap accessible they said they were. When I got there they had only one parking for handicap which was taken, had to park on side of the road. Once we got to the hostess she said they were looking were to seat me, other customers were being seated while I waited for a while. Had my son go up again to find out our status, they had forgotten about me. Finally they started scrambling and moving tables around to seat me while me and my family were standing in the middle of the room. Had to go to the hostess again to see if we can seat now. Mind you 20 minutes passed in this ordeal. Once we were finally seated it took 30 minutes before a waitress took our order. They kept walking by like we weren't even there, had to flag one down and she looked at me like I was inconveniencing her. A bit of a disaster tonight. We waited 30 mins (which we were told we would) and when I reminded the hostess she sat us at a table that had been empty the whole time. We started well with our server, she was friendly, and food and drink arrived promptly. My ceviche was not like anything I'd ever seen before . I didn't eat much. We then waited more than 30 mins for 2 simple desserts for the kids....then one appeared but in a box ?? So we cancelled the order and asked for the check, but no way of checking the amount or order was correct as it couldn't be shown or printed , so we just paid and left. Not good at all. read more
