Poor quality from the person who did my pedicure. I'm also upset about coming in, waiting and someone coming after me without an appointment who was being extremely demanding and was taken before me. I understand they have to keep the peace, but that is not fair to me just because I sat quietly. This is very poor customer service. Once they saw me looking at them, they seemed to grab someone from the back with, what I'm assuming, less experience since my pedicure was not great looking at all. There seemed to be some regulars there that they took great care of but as a new customer, it was not a good experience at all.

Never disappoints and they always go above and beyond. I look forward to getting my nails done at Issa!

Great place!! First time trying this salon and I've verb to a few in the Uws but this feels like one of the best! I got a lavender spa pedicure and it truly was a wonderful experience, scrub, leg and foot mask, hot stone massage(15 min!) my legs felt so much better afterwards ! Manicure was given time and consideration and I'm happy with the results ! Gets crowded but that attests to their quality! Definitely returning!

Never coming back here. I asked for a gel manicure, paid $80 for my nails to look so bulky and bumpy. I had to point out all the mistakes the nail made and after repeatedly asking them to fix it, still looked bad so I gave up. They also file my nails a lot and hurt me. The nail polish doesn't even cover the bottom of my nails well and I asked for an oval shaped, instead I got a round.

I don't normally write reviews, but this was a bad service. The tech was so rushed and aggressive with the cuticle pusher that my nails were left bleeding in three places, which I had to point out to her. She did apologize and seemed to feel bad about it. I asked for a gel french manicure and ended up paying $70ish dollars for the pictured result. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. And finally, my manicure peeled off the next day. I considered going back to ask for my money back but I'd rather my experience there just be over.

This has become my go-to nail place for regular manis and pedis. Even when it gets busy I don't feel like I'm being rushed out. As someone that just gets regular polish the big plus for me is the very big selection of colours in Esse, Esse couture, OPI, OPI infinite shine and Zoya. They don't charge extra for infinite shine or Zoya polishes, which some places do. They also use Zoya for the base coat and the Esse Couture top coat which really helps the mani last. There are some ladies that can do basic nail art (like a stripe, moon etc) but this isn't the place for the fancy stuff. Note that the prices displayed are for if you are paying cash. There is an ATM inside with a 99c fee, and where possible try to tip in cash. They also have a loyalty card where you get $5 off your 6th service. It gets busy in the late evenings and I try to avoid going on the weekend. I've seen folks make appointments but honestly I'd just walk in.

Love love love. Super clean and always friendly! I generally come for a pedicure. The pedicure always includes a 5 minute foot massage...per foot. It's awesomeeeee! Also, extremely smart with the plastic protective barriers between you and your manicurist. New chairs and a clean environment. These guys are doing it right! Appreciate you guys at every visit.

Came here after a friend recommended me. First impression was how busy it was that was told to come back another time. I didn't mind because I work a block away. One of the employees wrote down my number and estimated time they would be ready for me. They ended up calling me to come in and the same employee thanked me at the door for coming back. She apologized for the inconvenience which I appreciate. The place is spotless clean!!! I loved how the nail desk wasn't crowded. All the tools were new or freshly cleaned, towel perfectly warm, polish colors organized by brand, and socially distanced ! I got a gel manicure and didn't expect it coming with a massage which was a nice touch. The total for a gel mani was $37.

Worst manicure and pedicure ever! I asked that my nails NOT be cut short and she cut them to the very short. One of my nails was bleeding because she cut so deep into my cuticle. My nails had air bubbles and the cuticles were an uneven mess with polish in the cuticle. There were jagged edges.

Called and was able to make an appointment for an hour later! Nail salon is very clean and everyone was friendly. I went with a gel manicure and regular pedicure and was very pleased with the quality of work. My treatments were not rushed and I felt adequately cared for. COVID precautions we're very good with separation glass and curtains between stations. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I've been living on the Upper West side for 12 years so I've tried allllll of the nail salons. One day I stumbled upon Issa and I'm so glad I did! It's a large salon that's bright, beautiful and clean (the nicest in the area in MHO). Monica does my nails and always gives me the vest mani pedis. I never have to say a word, they're always perfection. She's also great at doing all of the new nail art inspo I bring to her :) And their prices are great! I got a gel manicure with Maggie and she did a SPECTACULAR job. One month later and the gel is completely intact, no chipping or peeling. I've even used cleaning products around the house, went swimming in the ocean, and these nails are going strong. Highly recommend, will be going back. read more

I will never go back to this salon.TOO RUSHED. NO ATTENTION TO THE WORK. I have gone to here 4 times now and it so happed that I always got the same lady. She's older and I don't know if she is the manager, but she always and constantly looks around to see if new clients are walking in or to check other employees while doing my mani or pedi. She PRETENDED TO MASSAGE, but she might as well skip if she was only going to put her hands on my shoulder for 30 seconds or foot with no strength whatsoever. There are plenty of other nail salons to go in this area. read more

Went there for the first time today. It's so clean and everyone working there was very friendly, helpful, and nice! Monica did my tips with uv gel and a gel mani for $90 and they came out sooo well :) she even spent time to move the glitter around to make sure it was in an even pattern on each nail, and took her time making sure the shape was perfect for each nail as well. Definitely will be coming back and getting a pedicure when I have more time! read more

Very clean place and friendly staff. SNS powder manicure came out GREAT, but they do dip the nail directly into the SNS powder jar which I don't think is the most sanitary. Would still return for regular mani, gel mani, or pedicure. read more

I've tried several of the nail places in the area.. this one is clean and the help is nice. Unfortunately covid has almost doubled the prices of these manicure salons, shortened the time and effort put into my favorite part, the massage and I just dont find the experience as pleasurable or worth going on a regular basis. read more

Issa nails is my favorite place to get my nails done on the Upper West Side! They do a phenomenal job and everyone is so polite and nice. They're accommodating whether you have an appointment or not. It's also very clean. The first time I came here I got a UV gel full set. My nails lasted me three weeks without any breakage or chipping. I was in the area and decided to stop in and see if they could take me for a fill of my UV gel set. They were busy, but they said no problem. Someone sat down and got right to work. Annie did my fill and she is incredible!! I am OBSESSED with them. I wanted to do something a little Halloween-esque without being too over the top. Annie came up with the perfect idea. They're some of my most favorite nails I've ever had. I'm not sure the pictures even do them justice! It's evident by the number of regulars who walk in the door that this place is beloved my many. I can't recommend Issa Nails and Annie enough! read more

I really want to love this place but every time I go, theres always a problem. I've been 3 times - first time I went was probably the best, still new and not crowded but my gel manicure didn't last longer than a week. Second time, I went for a mani/pedi and I had to tell the woman to slow down, she was rushing through it all. This past time, again it was rushed. I felt like she hardly filed my nails or cut my cuticles and parts of my nails aren't even painted. And half the time I was there, she was rushing around the salon doing other things. The salon is new and super nice but they need to stop taking on so many clients. People there with appointments and without were waiting quite some time. read more

Went at 10:30am on a Monday and the place was very quiet (which is what I wanted!) I felt very safe (writing this in the middle of COVID, but NY doing well right now) The place is sparkling clean and has plastic shields between each pedicure chair and between you and the manicurist. My regular pedicure included lots of relaxing steps (warm towels, quick leg massage) and all for $28.5 before tip! I absolutely loved it and will be back. read more

Got my toenails done here plus a foot massage and back massage (which I never do!) after work today and so so glad I did! OKAY - this is the only nail salon on the UWS that is worth the $$! I've been to so many and have been disappointed time after time. Save the trial and error and just go here :) it's brand new, kept extremely clean (and socially distant), and nail techs are friendly and pay close attention to detail. Lisa was great! read more

They are being very safe and careful with cleanliness. The staff are constantly scrubbing the place. Everyone wears proper PPE and there are plexiglass partitions between customers and also between the technicians. They are very friendly and also do a great job with nails. read more

I knew I was going to be in the area and I've been wanting to get my nails done so I decided to try a new place. I made an appointment and was kindly greeted on the phone and was able to get the time and day that I wanted. Once I walked in, I was kindly greeted and the store was really clean! The person that helped me was Michelle. She was really nice and I can be kind of indecisive so she helped me choose the color that I ended up using for my nails. She gave my nails the proper care and treatment so that it would minimize the damage to my nails. Got gel nails and I was really pleased with the end result! Would definitely recommend this place if you're ever in the area! read more

Honestly, I don't think I have have noticed but I do appreciate her attention to detail, she obviously cares about her craft. So 7 pm rolls around, the 3 other customers that were still there and had wrapped up their nail sessions. Julie, the other nail tech offers to finish up my polish design to let Jenny go home to her kids. I'm definitely feeling bad for keeping them past closing, and I am secretly hoping they rush through the polish so they can leave. NOPE! Julie takes her time on my design, and finishes up with a nice neck and hand massage, warm towel, and we all finally close up at 830. I am super grateful they continued to dedicate time to my service, while not sacrificing quality. Left a fat tip since I know Jenny and Julie will be splitting. my rating is between 3.5 and 4…read more i called ahead to see if they had any availability, and since they had pretty good ratings on google and yelp, i decided to go for it. my nails were getting way too long anyways. it was a very typical nail salon, the exact kind you would imagine when you think of one. she didn't ask what length i wanted and just went straight for the cut. by the time it came to filing, my nails ended up super short, and i am definitely a longer nail kind of girl. i'm not sure if she simply forgot to ask, but i'd like to think she was looking out for me and knew my nails would chip if they were kept too long. i went for a regular gel manicure since i told myself my nails need a break after this. when she was done, she gave me a shoulder massage, but it was very brief (shorter than the typical massages you get at nail appointments) and only on one shoulder, which felt a little odd. upon leaving, i immediately noticed a flaw on my left thumb. there were visibly tiny bumps, and once i noticed them, they kept bothering me. my conclusion: always go to the nail salon you trust, and that is exactly what i should've done.

I came here with detailed requests but READY with photos and she did nothing like I asked. I got a french pedicure. I showed her a picture and asked her if she had the same base color, she went on a different spectrum. I told her I wanted a really square shape, she disregarded that. And what annoyed me is she didn't even clean under my nails! She gave me literally a one minute massage because she was trying to rush out and go home. They charged me $30 more than I do at home for literally MEDIOCRE work. When I tipped her (decently but also didn't have to) she didn't even look at me or say thank you. It was pretty damn rude. I ended up going home and cleaned under and filed my own damn toes! Would not recommend this place!

However, when it comes to removing polish, it's done very recklessly with a lack of attention to detail. On several occasions, they've scraped the skin around the nails--sometimes cutting it to the point where it bled and required a bandage. When I mentioned this to the hostess after she asked for feedback, she dismissed it by saying I have sensitive skin. Since when is it normal for skin to be scraped during a mani/pedi? Additionally, I've had gel mani here twice in a row, and the technician over-shaved to the point where my nails ended up paper-thin that I have to ask the technician to apply extra coats to make up for it. One time, the technician even touched my skin with the machine that is used to shave the gel polish off. I've also had my skin scraped during pedicures, which is concerning. Every time I get a gel mani, within two weeks, the polish would start to lift on the cuticle side, which shows a lack of precision during the application. My friend got a regular mani & pedi here, and one of her nails chipped within a day. While I still love the atmosphere and the owners, the decline in the quality of the services, especially regarding polish removal, nail care, and attention to detail, has made me hesitant on coming back.

They told me $70.20, and no one mentioned that the price could be higher. During the appointment, it became clear that they didn't know how to remove my previous gel properly. It wasn't a "different type of gel" -- they just didn't know how to do it correctly. Instead of properly filing it off with the machine, they only removed the color layer. Then they wrapped my nails in foil and left me sitting there while the nail technician did a full pedicure for another client, without saying a word to me. I was just waiting the entire time. When she finally came back, she seemed surprised that the gel was still there -- and only then started removing it with the machine. She never explained anything to me, and I felt very uncomfortable because they were clearly experimenting on my nails. In any professional salon, hard gel is removed completely with a machine -- not like this. At the end, they told me the total was $164. I was shocked. They said it was because of a "different gel" and a "different service," which wasn't true -- I had told them in advance that it was hard gel. If they had informed me that the price would be higher, I would have decided whether to continue or not. When I calmly explained that no one mentioned this, they refused to listen. Then, when I asked to speak with the employer (the boss/owner) who wasn't there at the time, she got on the phone and spoke very rudely, claiming the nail master had told me about the higher cost -- which was a complete lie. The worst part is that they both started threatening to call the cops, even though I was polite and honest the entire time. I ended up paying with my foreign card, using my last money, but the way they treated me was absolutely unacceptable. While I was talking to the employer, the nail master stood there chewing gum and didn't even look at me. It was clear they were covering for each other. She never told me about any extra charge. I left the salon very upset and disappointed. I believe honesty, professionalism, and communication are the most important parts of good service -- unfortunately, I didn't experience any of that here. How can professional staff, instead of listening or offering any solution, threaten me by saying, "We will call the cops! We will call the cops!!!"? I've been doing my nails regularly for five years, and I've never had such awful quality and service. They didn't know how to remove the gel properly and then put all their mistakes, my waiting time, and the extra costs on me and my pocket. To make things worse, the final work was low quality -- on my pinky finger, they added Gel-X and didn't even file or shorten it. It's longer than my other nails and hurts
