Delicious food! The prices were a little high, but boy did they deliver with flavor and quality. My husband had the Tuscan chicken. I had the spicy chicken diavolo, and my daughter had the lasagne. We were all delighted with our food, and the portions were generous enough to get a second meal from the leftovers. We split The Godfather -- a warm, multilayer brownie with ice cream that was the perfect end to the meal. As a part of my birthday and my partner's, we went out to Italian Kitchen. Italian Kitchen is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Spokane. It is an extra special treat because the drive takes 1.5hrs each way. I am picky about Italian restaurants--not just any marinara will do. Italian Kitchen's is wonderful. I usually stick to basic dishes, your standard penne and marinara or the like. This time, I ventured out and ordered the Spicy Sausage Gnocchi. The gnocchi and sausage were delicious! I loved the baked mozzarella on top. It was definitely spicy as it promised. I am not one for spicy food, but this was *just* not too spicy. I loved the dish and would order it again in a heartbeat. (And extra water!) If you are in Spokane, I highly recommend trying this downtown Italian gem! Accessibility: This restaurant is generally accessible. Parking can be difficult. There are paid lots around including across the street. There is also street parking, which is very hard to find on busy nights. I am unsure of accessible spots around. There are no stairs to worry about. There is an accessible washroom here. (The non-accessible washroom is a tight squeeze.) The seating is a mix of tables and chairs and booths. Chairs do not have arms. Maneuvering may be a bit of an issue with tight spacing. Lighting should not be an issue. Noise may be a bit of an issue. Gluten Free is available! read more

Food was bland and underwhelming for the price. Sad to say but Pizza Hut has better pasta dishes. I ordered the seafood fettuccine which was dry and fishy tasting. My daughter ordered the Tuscan pasta and it lacked all the Italian flavors. Mushrooms for appetizer was also the worst mushrooms I ever had at an Italian restaurant. Wow! All 4 of us enjoyed our meals immensely. From drinks and appetisers and all 4 entrees to spumoni ice cream at the end it was all good. My entree spaghetti with mizithra cheese, could have used a little more butter, but was really good. They sat us in a room in the back which was great because we could easily converse. Sorry folks, pasta just doesn't cost that much! Any pasta....EVER. Flavorless pasta....NEVER! Actually, I never have a problem paying good money for good food. It's a cool atmosphere (although a little dark). And the service is much better than it used to be. Our hostess and server were attentive and sweet. But the food is so much worse than it used to be. I bragged to my guests that the lasagna was the best in town. It was ordered and the inside now looks and tastes like Fancy Feast dog food. Strike one. Another guest ordered the prawn linguini, and there was zero flavor other than too many capers. Strike two. Third guest ordered clam linguini. Piece of advice....if you can't make your clam sauce taste good, do NOT throw in a bunch of prosciutto ham?!? The only clam taste was when you took a bite of a clam right out of the shell (also she bit into several broken shells mixed in with the pasta and almost broke a tooth). Big ole Strike Three & yerrrr out! The whole dinner was MEH. Just absolutely tasteless, mushy, MEH! I can do "meh" for "oh well" prices....but not for OMG ones. So many people think the food MUST be good .... cuz look how much it costs?!? Taste with your tastebuds....not with your assumptions. Want semi-spendy AMAZING Italian food? So, a friend was visiting from out of town and we had a yen for Italian food. We headed over to Di Nardis but it was closed. Luigi's was closed too!! We were driving home when my friend spotted "Italian Kitchen", so we pulled in. We were delighted by the appearance both outside and in. The booth we sat in was quite roomy, a plus for obese diners like yours truly. We ordered linguini and clams and eggplant parmesan. The food was delicious!! The linguini did not command the dish and the addition of pancetta was very welcome. The portion was perfect, no pasta bloat here!! Wow!! This place is amazing!! Everything from the customer service to the food was outstanding, one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I called to make a reservation for 2 just to be safe and the gentleman on the phone was very polite, we arrived 20 mins before our reservation and were seated right away. The young man refilling water was on top of it, we weren't left with a dry glass at all. We ordered a bottle of rose, the mozzarella/tomato/basil foccocia appetizer, Caesar salad, grilled salmon plate, and the chicken formaggio and everything was fantastic! The best Italian we've ever had! The chicken plate comes with 2 chicken breasts and is definitely big enough to share. The decor is also very warm and inviting, perfect for date night! I have nothing bad to say about this place. The creme brulee looked amazing but we were too full to try it this time! We had Indie as a server. She's lovely & knows her job. We went to I K for the first day of restaurant week 2024. All of their courses sounded amazing! My husband ordered the Gnocchi with spicy sausage, the Gnocchi was to die for so he shared some of his with me. I ordered the Blackened Halibut. Now if you like & can tolerate spicy it was perfect the halibut was baked to perfection & was so tender. But because it was so spicy, I couldn't eat it I took a couple of bites of the risotto and it first the vegetable risotto was delicious and then it just didn't taste as good from there to me however, most people would probably love it because by that time I got sick from the spicy food because I wasn't warrant I even took a doTERRA digest Zen so that I could tolerate the spicy halibut, the vegetable Risotto and the orange, sauce that the risotto was sitting in orange and color. I'm not sure what they put it in. I should've gotten the spaghetti carbonara with the sausage cause I've had it before and it was amazing but I wanted to try something different now the Italian kitchen is a wonderful restaurant don't get me wrong. I will be going back, that wasn't the best for me to order because of my food allergy Hades and sensitive stomach. The crème brûlée was out of this world. It was exactly the crème brûlée should be. They also made me a tropical Mocktail and it was to die for I felt like I was away on a beach somewhere my husband and I have a 32 year-old son with autism, so this was date night, and I dressed up in a dress and I was glad I did. There were so many wonderful things about the evening it was not completely spoiled, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal number one the bread came out and we dipped it in a mixture of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The Caesar salad was delicious everything they served was amazing. The fish was just too spicy for this girl. My husband's wine was even delicious. I took his word for it and it was their house blend. I would highly recommend this restaurant is one of the best Italian restaurants we have in Spokane. Tomato Street is good too. It's more casual and their food. Their cuisine that is very different so I would never compare the two restaurants. it's all in what kind of Italian cuisine you want. their food is worth the price here at Italian kitchen. I am very impressed. I actually should've become a food critic but their service people the girl who served our water. Everyone is lovely and polite and knows their job. Aw so sad. In the past when I dined here the food and customer service was good. I went in to order food to go and the waitress completely ignored me. So I went to the bar and tracked down another employee. She told me she was unsure if the restaurant was open. She asked the same waitress who ignored me and she told her they were closed. Which was ridiculous since there was a table of people eating and I arrived a little after 8PM (they close at 9PM). Not sure why the waitress was so crusty but no matter what the food taste like if customer service sucks it's a bust. The service is perfect- the waiters never overwhelmed us, but were always there when our water was low, and were very kind! Not to mention the bathrooms are adorable and refreshing, unique. -The food left us speechless. The minestrone soup had great flavor, but was very balanced, and light, assuring that you can eat a cup and still have plenty of room for the entree! I ordered the ravioli and my date ordered the mac & cheese, both amazing dishes, perfect portions (not too much, so you don't have to take any home) and overall it is obvious that everything is locally sourced or made right in the kitchen. Best noodles I've ever had. -I feel the pricing is very reasonable given all of these factors, and I HIGHLY recommend supporting this local business! -Overall an amazing restaurant experience! We ordered drinks and calamari and so far, so good. I ordered eggplant Parmesan and it was actually burnt and tasteless. My sister had the Cioppino , she said the clams had no "clam, everything else was overcooked and dry. Plus, they served it over pasta, not right! It's a stew. My poor niece who is on a special diet ordered the antipasto dish. Very disappointed. It came with a ton of bread, she can't eat bread. Crumbled blue cheese, a few slices of provolone and prosciutto. So bad. One niece had the chicken fromage. She liked it. Other niece had ravioli and it was also ok. Italian salad was also disappointing; croutons were not made in house and for the price nothing to write home about, that's for sure. Went to Italian kitchen with my daughter expecting to have a lovely meal. My daughter asked for a side of Alfredo to dip her Bread in., she's 13 lol! The sauce was so thick and tasted like flour. She didn't even eat it. I knew at that point our meal was probably going to be similar because we each had a dish that had Alfredo in it. She had the chicken Alfredo, I had the lobster ravioli. Both were terrible. The lobster ravioli texture inside was like eating blended fish. No chunks of lobster like the menu claimed. My Caesar salad had brown lettuce in it. Not fresh.My daughter and I dine out often, and our total foodies, I would never go back here nor would I recommend to anyone. And I'm giving it two stars because our server was very polite and kind. I didn't say anything about the meal, and we left in complete disappointment and got a whopper on the way home. Total spent on the meal was over $100. I ordered take out , I was having a few business associates for dinner. Talked with owner. He knew I needed enough food for 5 the price I paid I assumed it would be plenty. When food arrived it was the smallest amount of food I've received from any take out. I called in a panic , guest were to arrive in 15 min. Owner offered no help. With honesty I was upset and not pleasant. Owner hung up on me. Thank goodness another restaurant came to my rescue. I ordered $ 45 worth of food. I put food on platers no one knowing which food came from which restaurant. I would pass this high price for not food quality . I called to apologize for my anger. Owner was so rude , told me I was the problem. I will never go to italian kitchen again. Worst owner service ever. read more

Just have to give a shout out to IK . We arrived shortly before the kitchen closed and had a rather large (somewhat obnoxious) group for my son's 28th birthday party. The staff, especially our server, Hannah, rolled with our celebratory loud behavior and treated us like royalty. We were the only ones in the place and they let us know we could stay as long as we liked. The ambiance and food were absolutely decadent. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion such as this since it's a little on the pricey side but we'll worth it. Five stars, A+++ this place definitely deserves your business. What a great recommendation from Brandon, our concierge/shuttle driver from the DoubleTree Hotel! Thank you! We were lucky to be done with our conference workshops early enough to make it into the restaurant before they closed. I had been craving some mozzarella sticks so to my delight that was one of the appetizers on our menu. The sticks were cut in half but were pretty large so it was great to share. For my entree I got the spinach & cheese ravioli in a white sauce. Sooo yummy. The portion size was just right but I was quite full by the time I finished my dish...And I finished the whole thing. I did pack up the left over cheese sticks and extra loaf of fresh bread for my late night snack (which I didn't eat until the next morning!) I was way too full for dessert but I hope my travels will bring me back so that I can try one of their scrumptious looking desserts! In town for a bit of testing, I took to walking through the surprisingly charming downtown of Spokane. I admit to being surprised at how awesome the setting was...I didn't think Spokane was a dump, but I didn't expect it to be that dang beautiful. And on the side of a wall, I saw a painted advertisement for The Italian Kitchen. So I took a wander over that way and the first thing that almost drove me off was the neon sign of a stereotypical Italian cook flipping a frying pan. The neon sign did that moving motion, too, where stuff flipped in the frying pan. The sign itself was good, but I thought, "I don't want kitschy and touristy." But as I was going that direction anyways, I peeked in the front door. Inside, the restaurant was very atmospheric and gorgeous. It didn't look touristy, as in chintzy, but it looked very upscale. That sort of equated high price to me, so I debated, but then figured that this might be an experience, so I went ahead and went inside. It wasn't very late and it was on a Monday, so the restaurant wasn't crowded at all and I was seated very promptly. The lighting was very dim, so beware, if you are a reader while you eat, it could prove difficult. The hostess and the waitress were very friendly, very helpful, and very on top of things. I asked my waitress for her recommendation when I couldn't decide on a angel hair pasta alfredo with sausage, or their sausage and cheese ravioli in marinara. She recommended the ravioli, as it's hand-made in-house. Her enthusiasm drove me to that. I received a very thick bowl of minestrone, that was light on the noodles, and heavy on the vegetables and beans, with some very good bread. They provided small bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table, and I used these heavily with my bread to great delight. When my ravioli came out, I was surprised. I ordered a smaller plate and got a very large portion for that smaller plate. The pasta was al dente, so it had some chew to it, but that texture combined with the filling mixture was very, very good. The sauce was nice, with some zest to it, not bland or canned at all. My drink was kept nicely refilled and the wait staff returned often to check on me. I didn't want to eavesdrop, but another solo diner was seated near me, and he seemed very interested in culinary experiences, and I could hear him grilling his waiter on the different wine options and their menu, and the waiter was very on top of his pairings and what would suit the man's tastes, based on how they were talking. I was very impressed and that seems pretty indicative of a happy and involved wait staff, which directly translates to a good restaurant, in my opinion. The price was a little high, all things considered, but not unreasonable considering its downtown location and proximity to the Spokane convention center. The atmosphere, which was anything but chintz, was very nice, and the attention to details by their staff and kitchen was lovely. All in all, I would be happy to eat here again were I in the neighborhood. read more

I was excited to try a new place to me for Italian food In Spokane. WA and I was heading to Luiggi's but my hotel front desk steered me here. Here were their flaws for me last night: Greeted by the very nice young man upon entering and got a seat in the bar area which was way quieter than the main dining area. It was very dark and I struggled to read the menu. My server didn't come over for more than five minutes as I contemplated leaving if this was any indication of their service. My server was not very sincere and seemed a little dismissive but I ordered anyway. I had the Spaghetti and House made sausage Carbonarra and a dinner salad ( yes for an extra charge). Salad came and that was actually the high point of the meal and I thought, okay mediocre service but yummy food. I was wrong. The Carbonarra came and although it looked good the taste was something else. The more I ate the sausage the more bland the white sauce seemed. I want to say there are six pieces of sausage arranged on the plate that equate to two or three actual links and I ate two pieces before I ran into a piece that was cooler than the sauce it was in. I was done then. I politely called my server over and told her that while on business my company pays for my meals so I didn't want anything but to let them know about the food quality / temperature. She seemed disinterested but maybe because she was arguing with the greeter in front of customers. I called the number in my receipt, left a message, and my call was returned by Bryce. This is why I rated two stars because talking to Bryce was a good thing. My server hadn't shared my experience with him and that is exactly what I thought. Bryce's tip was to call them over when I was dissatisfied and they would have took it back to the kitchen to make right. I explained my reservation of sending anything back in any restaurant and he understood. Unfortunately what I do is never go back. We really loved this place! The lasagna was amazing. Thick, flavorful, and filling. It kept it's shape, without sliding all over the place, which I appreciate. The salad was also very good. We were seated by a very loud, obnoxious table. Kind of disappointing, as this was supposed to be a romantic evening for my fiance and I. We asked if we could move and they kindly accomodated our request. Our new table was much more pleasant. The service is just as good as before all this began. They made some plain noodles with butter for my daughter, it was not on the menu but they were helpful. The minestrone was much thicker than any other minestrone I've ever had but it wasn't bad by any means, just more of a stew consistency. The spaghetti was okay.
