Long overdue review.. If I rated them on pizza alone, it's an easy 4 stars. Good solid thin crust and their house made Italian beef pizza is money. Great flavor, never dry...which reminds me, I still need to try their Italian beef sandwich. I've mostly done pizza take-out but have also tried a number of menu items. The one dine-in experience I had with my sisters for an impromptu dinner (pre-pandemic) wasn't very memorable and most dishes were average to meh. Our waitress was super friendly, but forgot one of our apps (which we ended up cancelling) and plates arrived sporadically. Average burger, cold fries. It was a busy night, so I'm guessing she was slammed with tables. If you're looking for a casual spot that's not an eye sore and has a lively crowd, this isn't a bad choice. It has a pub feel and the remodeled dining room gets busy so when it's bustling, it's also LOUD. This was prior to the virus, so I don't see that being an issue now. As far as food, I've had hit or miss experiences. On our recent order, I requested well done on pizza, but we didn't get well done. The chicken vesuvio was DROWNING in thick beyond salty sauce which spilled all over my table upon opening a punctured container. I think they thought we were going to drink the sauce (soup?) because there was an insane amount of it. The noodles in the fettucine alfredo tasted homemade but the creamy sauce needed something more. Portofino (seafood pasta) was a winner. Their portions are massive and very shareable..fyi. My Family and I came in on a Tuesday night . The place was suggested by a Friend (Greg) . Honestly one of the best service we've had. They sat us right away , it was full on Tuesday night. They had the soccer playing and the cubs game in another TV, that was a plus for my husband. He asked for the Portofino , it was a big portion enough for 2. But yes we didn't know that. We ordered take out from here. I was disappointed because I ordered the "stuffed crust cheese pizza" to find out when delivered that this meant deep dish not stuffed crust. I wish they would just label it deep dish pizza so this confusion doesn't happen. Needless to say when you are craving regular pizza and get deep dish it is not the same. Their deep dish pizza was ok. It's hard to say if it's any better or worse than the other deep dish places. I also ordered a can of coke because I was craving something with carbonation but it was flat :/ Its annoying they can't take credit cards on their website. When we called and ordered a stuffed crust pizza I wish they would have said "oh a deep dish?" So we would have known. My friend is a repeat customer of this restaurant and suggested we run in for a glass of wine and appetizer to celebrate the new year. The building is quite new and very clean. I walked in the carryout door and had to ask if I could seat myself in the restaurant bar area, and they didn't laugh at me, so that was a plus. We both had the wine of our choice and then shared the spinach artichoke dip which was actually quite good and served nice and hot. There were many people around us who were ordering main dishes and they all looked great; I can't wait to go back and try some for myself. The only down side of the experience is that the room is very loud due to the high ceilings and we had to repeat ourselves a bit to be heard, but that was okay-- it made for a funny evening. read more

We ordered delivery online over the weekend, totaling just shy of $65.00. The online robots said my order would take about 45-60 minutes, typical times from IPK. I was very surprised to see the delivery arrive about 35 minutes later! After we got everything unpacked we found the pizza was extremely undercooked - the bottom crust was white and still had a flour taste. We ordered coconut shrimp - and received fried shrimp. Not the end of the world but we spent the extra money to get coconut shrimp. Ugh, these first-world problems just keep stacking up... We salvaged the disappointing meal by heating up our trusty cast iron pan and putting a nice crisp on the pizza and pretending there was coconut on the shrimp. I have always wanted to try this restaurant out. I would constantly drive by it while traveling down Irving Park Road. I finally had some time to check this place out. The restaurant that I went to visit was Italian Pizza Kitchen in Roselle. The day that I went to visit Italian Pizza kitchen was extremely hot. The temperature was in the upper 90s. I knew that whatever restaurant I would go to it would be somewhat muggy. I went during lunchtime and walked into the door closest to the parking lot. The door ended up being the takeout. The girl behind the counter looked at me like I had three heads and asked if I was here for pick up. I said no I think that I walked in the wrong door. The girl gave me a very nasty look and said this is the wrong door and that I need to go over to the other side. I don't know why she had an attitude, but that was made up for by how great our server was. The restaurant was not very full. It was somewhat muggy, but which was to be expected because it was so hot out. The water that was brought to our table was immediately sweating. Our waiter came to our table and his name was Alex. He was so extremely friendly and wanted to answer any questions that I might have. I asked him what was good on the menu because this was my first time here. He told me that the pizza, of course, is very good. He also told me that their meatball appetizer is very popular. I ended up going with their unique appetizer that was fries with melted cheese soaked in Italian beef juice. I asked Alex if it would be a problem if I actually added some Italian beef to the order and that I would pay the extra. He then told us that should not be a problem. I also put in an order for Caesar salads for both my wife and I. I asked Alex if it would be possible for me to make the meatball appetizer into a sandwich. Again, Alex, without skipping a beat, said that would not be a problem. The meatball appetizer consisted of ricotta cheese on top in a vodka sauce with basil. My wife went with their Eggplant Parmesan sandwich that came with fries. The Italian beef fries first came out and they looked absolutely fantastic. However, when I took a bite they were extremely salty. The beef was also chewy like it had been sitting for a while and had hardly any flavor. The Caesar salads were good. You can't really mess up a Caesar salad. The main entrees came out and they looked fantastic. The only visual critique that I could see on my wife's sandwich was that I normally remove the skin on the eggplant when I make Eggplant Parmesan myself. The eggplant skin leaves almost like a tough seal skin consistency. I take a bite of my sandwich and I thought I had Covid. There was absolutely no flavor to the sandwich. I literally just felt food in my mouth as I was chewing. There was no distinct flavor to anything. I tried my wife's Eggplant Parmesan sandwich and it was mushy with no real form and it had absolutely no flavor. I will say that the french fries were crispy and tasty. I was so disappointed how the food came out because visually it looked fantastic. I also could smell burning garlic coming from the kitchen. I do not know if they were having some issues in the kitchen that day. I will say that our server Alex was fantastic. He is what all servers should try to be, which is very attentive and friendly. My parents and I came here once a week for the pizza, up until about 4 months ago. We noticed the pizza had changed. The crust was so thin and had very little sauce. Not like it was before. We also always ordered flavored iced tea, and then they did away with that. The other drink choices did not include Dr. Pepper. It was always so cold, it was unpleasant, and the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other. Needless to say, we have stopped going. We had lunch at the restaurant on Sunday. It was pretty empty so decided to eat inside as opposed to outside. Food was good. My pasta dish way too salty, but very good. However, the manager/owner (Steve) was not wearing a mask and neither were the cooks. We sat at the booth by the kitchen and we could see them cook without a mask. When they ran our credit card, they did for a higher amount (??). We asked our server why and the only thing she said was that she would cancel it and run it again. We are now waiting to see the charge clears with our bank. They also charged a "service fee," which another reviewer said it's because we paid with a credit card. They never informed us of that! We will not go back again at least during the pandemic. A good business practice is to have ALL your employees wear a mask including the manager and the cooks. read more

I stopped by one of my favorite neighborhood spots yesterday with a good friend to catch a Bears game and some good eats. Glad I did because reminds me I need to visit Italian Pizza Kitchen more often as I find the value exceptional, the food delicious and service always attentive and friendly. First of all, this place run by a third generation restaurateur who knows the business top-to-bottom, so I can always depend on 'IPK' to score a touchdown when it comes to old school Italian food presented with an extra little touch of class without being pretentious. Second, their pizza and pasta dishes are seriously top-notch, their marinara marvelous and lamb shank entrees (what?), yes, lamb shank simply cannot be beat at these prices. Third, they have a full service bar with a wide range of beer, wine and liquors including those from local area producers-- Nice! Much as I would've loved to indulge in any of the aforementioned cuisine, on this day I just wanted focus on the game in and chow down on some good sports bar-type grub without having to patronize the actual local sports bar (another review for another time), so I thought about ordering one of their pub burgers on the new menu which I'll definitely have to soon try, but instead I opted for a good ole' Italian Beef w/sweet served w/fries and a side of 5-grain salad (nice touch) rather than typical cole slaw. The sandwich was stellar in every way; beef tender, green peppers perfect and au jus just the right amount of spice-- altogether awesome! For dessert the quintessential cannoli, what else? Ordered take-out and picked up about an hour ago. Good? Chicago-style stuffed pizza. NO. Cheese were too hard or thick- not like gooey, flavor in your mouth. Garlic bread. NO. They were hard and BURNT. You will only feel the hard "crunch" as it scratch the roof of your mouth. I feel sick now. I wouldn't recommend these two. Stick with thin. I love coming here for the pasta. The food here is usually fantastic and is what keeps me coming back. They are pretty good about delivery orders too and so far have not had an issue. Overall the staff is okay and the wait is sometimes a little long for food even when it's not too busy. The prices are VERY expensive for the service, but the pasta definitely makes it worth it. read more

This restaurant is local to me in Roselle on Irving Park. It's more upscale than most restaurants here, which is probably why it's usually packed. I've been curious to try it for a long time so I was glad to finally try it tonight. The menu is bigger than I expected but also pricier than I expected. Hubby had some sort of mussel and pasta dish. He said it was good but not exemplary. However, the soup that came with the entree WAS exemplary he said. He got the minestrone, which he said was so thick and chunky it was more like a sauce. I got a steak sandwich that came with fries and the "five grain salad". Sandwich was good, very large and the "salad" was different than I expected but not bad at all. Service was just OKAY, but it was the dinner rush so things were fairly busy. I think this place would be a good option for a date night if you don't want a bar/grill. Delicious! We got the calamari and burrata for appetizers. The calamari was fresh and the burrata was paired nicely with the drizzle! We also got a pasta to share with sausage vodka and that was delicious the pasta felt home made and just the right kind to texture. I also got a chop salad which was delicious! Was excited to try the pizza considering the restaurant name but was underwhelmed. Nothing besides the amount of toppings is really worth noted. We had the gnocchi and I was even more underwhelmed. I didn't think the sauce had much flavor and to me, it was a complete pass, Our server was moderately attentive and knew when to stop by and our orders were correct; however, her service with drinks was slightly delayed.
