It is rare for me to give a poor review to a business - please see my other reviews. We chose It's All About the Cake for our wedding cake, which we cannot recommend. Our cake tasting was a pleasant experience and they did a good job with the design, but the bottom/largest tier of the cake was not the flavor we ordered and our interactions with them were very taxing. Our cake tasting was in May 2024 for our wedding in November 2024. At our cake tasting in May, we placed an order for a 3-tier wedding cake and 30 custom cookies. We paid in full at that appointment, even though full payment was not required at that time (I say this to demonstrate that we were not trying to nickel and dime this business). After the tasting, all of our communication was via email up until the day before the wedding. Shortly after we placed the order, I noted that the flavor for the largest tier was written incorrectly as toasted coconut, when it should have been passion fruit. I sent a follow-up email shortly after we placed the order in which they noted the correction. This was six months prior to our wedding (I have all of these emails, of course). Several months later, I requested that we be able to pick up the cookies a few days prior to the wedding so that we could place custom seals on the back. After not receiving a response to this question, I emailed a second time and received a response basically saying they had no idea what I was talking about but that they bake cookies fresh every day in their bakery and that we were welcome to buy some. I clarified that I was referring to the custom cookies we ordered with our wedding cake. Once this was acknowledged, we were told that the cookies would not be ready until noon on the day before the wedding. My husband went in person to pick up the cookies and brought with him a copy of the physical order form to make certain that the bottom tier was corrected from toasted coconut to passion fruit, and he was assured that this was the case. On the day of the wedding, it was obvious that the bottom tier had been made as toasted coconut, not passion fruit. They are two very different things, which anyone could easily discern. Even the color of the filling was different. Each tier of our cake was a different flavor and we actually had a guest approach one of the wait staff at our reception to say that they received the wrong slice because they had requested the passion fruit cake and had been served coconut cake. On the day after our wedding, I emailed the bakery to let them know that the bottom tier was wrong and requested a partial refund. We received a curt response from the manager asserting that they were certain that the bottom tier was passion fruit because they "personally observed" the filling going in. I sent a very brief reply reiterating that this wasn't true and asking for nothing else. The manager responded again and stated that they had reviewed "surveillance video" of the cake being made and was therefore sure that it was passion fruit. It seems odd for the manager to personally observe fillings being put into a cake at a successful bakery. Likewise, I'm not sure you can discern what fillings are being put into a cake by reviewing supposed surveillance video. Further, if a customer is telling you that the flavor was different than what you purport it to be, that in and of itself sounds like a quality control issue; it seems inherently problematic that you have to work so hard to convince someone that it is the flavor you say it is. And, it seems sensible that extra attention would be paid to this detail since it was mentioned by us on two separate occasions. The entire cost of the order was $926.05. This included an exorbitant $35 "delivery fee" to walk the cake to the restaurant directly next door to the bakery. We brought our cake topper with us to the cake tasting, and were told verbally at the tasting that they do not place cake toppers and that we, or someone at the restaurant, would need to place the cake topper. I'm not sure if that is standard practice, having never bought a wedding cake before, but it seemed odd given the price we paid, including the delivery fee (and for context, the cake topper was not large). Every business we used to plan our wedding was a joy to work with, with the exception of this one. If the bakery had done anything at all to acknowledge us, I would feel differently. I suggest you go elsewhere so that you get the cake that you expect on your special day. read more

This place used to be good, like over 15 years ago, but that has changed greatly! Maybe it's with the recent new ownership, I'm not sure but will definitely not waste my time or money here ever again, which is sad. I placed my order on Tuesday, picked up on Thursday. I specifically and clearly said I wanted the cake to be two layers and 8 to 10 inches diameter, not the four or five inch as this one is. The cake I've gotten in the past was two layers as asked for, with an icing creation of a Sunflower, with a dark center and beautiful, bright yellow icing pedals, look so authentic, it took up the entire top surface of the cake and it was breathtaking. Some of today's workers don't know how to listen, can't follow directions, and I guess just don't care or management and owners don't care. When the person brought me the cake, and showed it to me, I explained it was supposed to be as described above, she told me the flower pedals were eatable but to be careful with the "wire" in each pedal. I got married at a wedgewood wedding venue and this was the cake vendor that was included in the package. I made an appointment pretty early on because I have a crazy work schedule. We went for our cake tasting first thing on a Saturday morning. Once we checked in we were seated and it took a good 15 minutes for someone to come out and start our tasting. I worked at a bakery while in high school and college and was used to having customers select their cake sample flavors and combinations they would like to try and have those ready at the tasting - that's not the case here. They bring you out their most popular cake flavors and combinations and you go from there. From looking at the brochure I knew what combinations I wanted to try - which weren't the basic ones provided and asked if it would be possible to try those. Fortunately it was. We decided on white cake with champagne mousse, lemon cake with raspberry and confetti cake with pastry cream. I was also a little thrown off during the tasting because I was told for 55 people it's a 2 tier cake however my guest count was 65-75 and I definitely wanted three tiers. As for design, I wanted a naked cake and was told to email the picture of the example with my name, wedding date and venue. I did the day of the appointment. 2 days before the wedding I get a phone call saying there are notes a picture will be emailed but they have nothing on file. I forwarded the original email again. Overall, my cake was absolutely beautiful and I loved it! The tiny bite I did try was delicious and I'm sad I didn't eat more! All of my guests enjoyed it as well! I'm looking forward to our one year anniversary cake to eat it again! I enjoyed everything except the initial tasting experience. read more
