Tried this restaurant for the first time and it was a complete waste of money. I ordered the combo plate ($22 spent) through postmates and one of my items were ribs. When I received the order, it was pulled meat from the bone. That definitely wasnt pictured (the picture has bone in ribs) and that is not what I expected. Not to mention the food was disgusting. Watered down, weird tasting bbq sauce, pork and beans out the can (they sell them asked baked beans smh), and I don't even want to talk about the mac and cheese. I've been visiting this spot since it first opened. And although I wish I could rate it allot higher, I must be honest in reviewing them with only 3 stars. (Barely) This place has great potential as their meat is really tender and the rub they use is pretty tasty. The problem here is that it's not consistent. I've had ribs here that where simply, perfect, but upon return, they just tasted old or reheated. If you are going to use the name "Ribs" in your name, you have to make them fresh and serve them fresh consistently to every customer. I've been here at time where the meat would just fall off the bone, and then there are times where you can't tell the meat from the bone. Of the times I've been here, I've only experienced dining inside once. The ribs where horrible that day. A female working started handing out free samples of the gumbo and I must say that gumbo was beyond excellent. (If only it had some seafood in it to go along with the chicken.) Now I must warn you, if you are a lover of BBQ Sauce, don't waste your time here. They have the very worst sauce I've ever tasted in life. They have regular and spicy and both are horrible beyond horrible. So the ribs are much better sauce-less, IF you get them on the right day. If it's the wrong day, nothing can save them. I've been tempted to offer them my sauce recipe, but the place just isn't consistent enough to carry it, then there goes a wasted family recipe. Will I go back? Maybe if I feel like gambling that it will be served fresh and tender. It's close to the house so hard to just say no. I believe its under new management now, as I went by one Monday last week via the drive thru and they where closed. A guy, ( assumed the new owner) pulled up and told me that "its currently closed on Mondays but now that it's under new management, we are considering opening it up on Mondays so please now come back and see us." As I'm near this place on several Sunday mornings, I've been somewhat of a regular patron. I read about this place by way of another Yelper, and boy was this a great recommendation. While I have yet to try the ribs, I have had several of their breakfast tacos. At about $2.70 each, they are pretty good and always fresh. The tortillas seem homemade and are fresh. The contents within the tortilla can vary. I have tried jalapeno sausage, brisket, and pulled pork. Cheese and potatoes are also optional, but no additional cost. I really like the pulled pork with no potatoes. I just have never really seen the use, value, or worth in potatoes being a part of breakfast tacos. Sort of like bagel in the east coast (but that's a conversation for another time...). If you're in the area, give it a try. Dammit I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The food is TOP notch. I haven't had a bad meal from here yet. The ribs, are just jaw dropping good. Jalapeño glaze? Dammit it's good. The pulled pork, the sausage, oh and most important the sauce doesn't taste like canned Campbell's tomato soup with pepper (Carl's BBQ pay attention). The homemade sides are great. Had the beef ribs- moist enough to melt in your mouth, but not too much that it is soggy; something that I've noticed other establishments like to do. Here they do it right! The wife had the baked potato and had the amazing idea to chop up the jalapeño sausage and brisket and add it on top, to take the dish from okay to wow. Don't miss the pineapple sauce! I'm a bit of a coleslaw snob & this one is tops. The mustard potato salad is a must...even better than my mom's (don't tell her). The BBQ sauce is smokey and has a touch of soy sauce. The fatty brisket and the ribs are actually really good, better then I expected, didn't even need any sauce

I have been here a few times, and I really love the brisket. I usually order "to-go" and order a la carte. The ribs are good but the rub is a little salty sometimes. A full rack of ribs is ($21.95) and has all of the meat above the bones (with cartilage etc) I order this because the meat is still tasty. If you prefer, the St. Louis style (trimmed and just the bone part), a rack is $16.99. I usually get the original, but I am tempted to try the jalapeno glazed ribs. Brisket is $15.95 a pound. I love it all, but I am not a real fan of the bbq sauce (found it sweet and not real balanced) so I also get it on the side. My daughter fixes it up with some spices and some vinegar. Nevertheless, I am a fan. A surprise for me is that I enjoy their gumbo. A strange side for a bbq restaurant, but give it a try. The other sides are what you would expected. I'm sure the ribs taste really good as my friends enjoyed it. For the food, I thought the pulled pork sandwich was good, but a little dry for me. I needed to put a lot of sauce on it. The flavor on it was good, but I like it a little more moist. I also thought the beans was okay. I only had one piece of sausage in mine. If there was more I think it would've made it better! I would give this place a 3 and a half out of 5. The ribs were really good . The baked potato was pretty good too but the only downside is that the brisket was a little on the dry side . I don't often rate a place with 5/5 stars... but this is well-deserved by It's Ribs. It's good. It's damned good. This is the best BBQ I've had in Texas. It's better than Rudy's. It's better than BLACKS! The brisket was moist, flavorful, and plentiful. THERE WAS MORE FOOD THAN I COULD FINISH! I'm hardly a timid eater (in fact, I told my colleagues that I was starving and in the mood for a trough restaurant --er, "buffet"). Damn it, I tried. The pulled pork (also very good -- with large, distinguishable pieces of meat -- which I prefer), potato salad (mayonnaise-based -- mustard-based is also available), coleslaw, and Texas toast were just more than I could manage. The service was really quite friendly and good (counter service -- and food is brought to your table via numbers). If there's a flaw in the food, it's that you can't really find anything spicy to add to your meal. The jalapenos were very mild (I must have eaten more than a cup of them) and the sauces were also mild. I will absolutely jump at the opportunity to eat here, again... but I won't be foolish -- I'll ask for a to-go container. I was so hungry when I arrived that I was disappointed to not see an option to add more meat for a surcharge. It's kind of them to not tempt you with this. I went a while back on recommendation of the beef ribs, which I would recommend. The menu selection had the Holy Trinity, so I mad it a point to come back. I scored It's Ribs a 70 out of 100. This is Bum Steer BBQ but in fairness they don't market their BBQ prowess. Smoke: A secret, but I would guess Hickory. There is a well used smoke stack in the back but not a stick of wood in sight. There is no reference to wood used in their menus. Little evidence of wood fired, so I suspect a gasser. Brisket: Good. No smoke ring except on the ends. Tough of tender, a knife was needed. Good smoke and salty rub. Use the sauce. Ribs: Poor. If you like over cooked and charred ribs, this is the place! The have successfully recreated your drunk uncle's backyard disaster. A St Louis cut spare rib dry of tender. A sticky charry black bark with a hint of burnt. Overcooked brown through and through. Use the sauce or just order the beef rib. Sausage: Good. A fine ground pork sausage with great bacon and salt pork flavors. A little greasy and some faint smoke. No sauce needed. Sauce: Good. A tangy strong molasses tomato vinegar based sauce. Overall flavor was good but it overpowered the meats. PS: Try the beef ribs. read more
