Ivy Cafe is absolutely going to remain on my rotation list for brunch/lunch! I went on a Friday early afternoon and easily found street parking. They had a sign for us to seat ourself and so we grabbed a menu and picked a table inside. The space inside is not large, but they do have a good number of tables inside and a few outside on the patio. My friends and I decided to order some coffee, cocktails (hello espresso flight!), tartine's and other items from the menu so that we could sample a bunch of things. Everything was absolutely amazing. The tartine's were the best and since they offer both sweet and savory options, we had just the right amount of flavors. The service was good and attentive. This was a nice spot overall, but I only popped in to change it up from the hotel lobby coffee and get something good. I was a little surprised that it was more of a sit-down kind of spot vs a walk up coffee bar, but they were friendly and got me an Americano as I took in the vibes of the space. It looks like it would be great for breakfast and maybe getting a little work done, but I was in and out. The Americano was pretty good, could've used an extra shot based on the size as it wasn't super rich or flavorful, but it was good quality and better than the hotel lobby brew I'd been living off of. This is a restaurant I really want to return to. I went for an evening dinner and it was a lot of fun. The decor is super cute and definitely ivy/plant themed. I loved seeing all the indoor plants. There is a selection of a la carte options as well as tartines (ingredients served open faced on toasted homemade bread) and desserts. The creme brulee was creamy and delicious with the perfect carmelized top. My Delmar tartine was flavorful and filled me up. The bread was very tasty as well. We absolutely loved the vibe, the light and brightness of the place and the service. This would be a super cute place to grab coffee in the AM. They have a nice selection of baked goods. The environment is so cuteeeee the staff are friendly and helpful! The drinks are so good, will be trying more cocktails next time, love the thin mints espresso martini! Very smooth, complex flavor unlike usual distinct coffee and liquor taste that I have tried from other places. The fries are always my go to order, love the kombucha it's so gooddd I can have it all day everyday. Only small suggestions is to have better knives for the bread, the crust is crispy so it's a little hard to cut and could get messy if u r not careful. Everything else is amazing, people are all having fun and good vibes, definitely recommend and will come back again! Re-upping to 4 stars after a 2-year hiatus. Service is much improved though it is still super loud. You MUST have a reservation (on the weekend) or you are pretty much out of luck. I decided to go with pancakes instead of a tartine and this was a good choice. The pancakes are dense and lightly sweet but totally delish. Didn't love the strawberry butter but that is personal preference. They are a nice size too, not giant. The eggs were perfectly scrambled. A little peeved that when I called to say we were running a few min (3-5) late I got some sass about needing to turn tables ... while the table next to us was finishing when we arrived and still sitting there an hour later when we left... Food was good, vibe was really fun, but the reason for the okay experience was by being led astray into ordering a $30 salad for lunch, so as someone price conscious it was just too much of a bitter pill to swallow to love the place. Coffee was delish; was going to order the salmon salad which was reasonably priced, but server suggested getting the beet salad and adding salmon to it. I didn't think I'd be looking at a crazy upcharge, but I guess I should have double checked. Is it me? Is it them? I absolutely LOVE coming here! I had been wanting to try this place for so long and it's actually so good that I went back! There are seriously so many restaurants to try all the time that it is RARE that I ever go back to one, so trust me when I tell you this spot is one to go back to! The first time I was there I had The White Bean Beef Chili, The Alamo, The Sourdough Sliders, and both The Butterfly Pea Matcha and The Pink Dragon Matcha! The WBBC was my absolute favorite thing and I haven't stopped thinking of it since having it! Every bite was so flavorful and perfect! And the broth was so good on its own as well! I basically slurped it down like a ramen broth! The Alamo was OK. Out of everything I ordered food wise, this one I was OK trying and saving for later. It was yummy, but not as flavorful as some of the other things I had. I will say though, the shrimp made the bites SUCH a mouthful! The Sliders were super yummy albeit it was just a burger that was on some sourdough that was then cut up into 4 slices. Not my definition of a slider BUT so good that I ordered them again on my second round with this place! Highly suggest!! As for the two matcha drinks, they were as bland as the other entries before mine had suggested, but I mostly got them for the "oh-so-cute" aesthetic! Totes worth it. When I went back for the second round, it was during dinner hours so I had The Sliders (again) and The Lamb Pie. For a drink I had The S'more's Latte. The latte was just PERFECT. Totally sweet enough, making it super yummy! Not too sweet that your teeth or belly hurt either. Can we talk about The Lamb Pie though?! Oh. My. GOSH was it amazing!!! Incredible! I cannot WAIT to have it again! My word it was absolutely stunning...and wait for it...just. like. their. service. I've been to Ivy Cafe a number of times for coffee and breakfast, but today was my first time ordering from the lunch menu. There are so many great options, and as expected, the food was really good. The coffee is always excellent too. What truly makes the experience stand out, though, is the service. Sarina is always exceptional -- friendly, attentive, and welcoming every single time we visit. I've been before, but it was for a Yelp Elite event. So this was my first full meal at Ivy Cafe. My cocktail was delicious, and that Beet Chips & Avocado starter was fantastic! I believe the menu on Mother's Day was limited because when I look online, I see another item I think I would've ordered over the Delcrest. It was good, but not crazy good. What WAS crazy good was that Chai Chia Pudding with Caramelized Bananas! OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! We also shared some sort of cake with a lavender sauce, but ALL of us thought the pudding was the BEST! Our service was good, but because it's SO loud, our server had trouble hearing our orders. Because of that, a shared plate we requested didn't come out until much later in the meal. read more

Ivy is a great little spot with good coffee! My husband and I came here to try their espresso martini and I will say it was the best one I've had in St. Louis! It was very smooth and full of flavor. It did take 30-40 min to actually receive the martini after ordering so it was a bit long for my liking. Maybe they have new workers so I excused it as no biggie. I have gone again for coffee before work and again it took about 16-20 min. I was thinking it was going to be quick since I was the only one in line but they were helping the tables as well. We've also ordered take out from them for work and the food is excellent, very fresh and full of flavor! Overall, the quality of their products are great! My friend recommended this place for brunch before our event on Sunday. I happily agreed as I had heard many good things but once we got there, my opinion changed. Let me preface that we didn't have a reservation. Not sure how much of a difference that would have made (if any), but def. wanted to point that out. We arrived shortly after 12:15. It was somewhat busy for what you'd expect for a Sunday, and because we didn't have a reservation we had a small wait. When we first walked in, I noticed it was small but cute. The ivy js proudly on display (because why not-hence the name) and the other pictures surrounding the restaurant truly help bring out the aesthetic they're going on. After the small wait, we were finally seated. This is the first restaurant I've seen where the patrons name is put on the table to reserve it. Cute and nice touch. Upon sitting down, we noticed it was pretty dirty as in nothing was swept (def should have been) and they only focused on clearing the top of the table. My friend asked if they could do a light sweep and they were happy to agree. We were then greeted and given water. Here's where things took a turn. My friend wanted a tartine that was only available for the morning and when she asked one person, they told her just that. Upon asking our actual server, she was told breakfast was available all day. This was clutch because the steak and eggs were calling my name and I wasn't in the mood for fancy bread with toppings. She was able to get her dish of choice and so I. To drink, she got some coffee thing and I tried the lavender lemonade. While it was good in taste, I think it just Minute Maid Lemonade with lavender seeds sprinkled on top. Disappointing. Next, our food came out and while it was nice in presentation, there was still much to be desired. For starters, nothing was seasoned which hurts so bad to say because it looked so good. Thankfully they had salt and pepper available that I could add myself, but people come to restaurants to eat food already seasoned, not add it themselves later. Maybe that's just me. Additionally, the dill had no business being anywhere on that plate and totally ruined the taste of the potato and anything it touched. I hate dill and seeing it was such a buzzkill. While the egg was good, yes, I put egg because while it said you get two, there's no way two eggs produce a size that small. The icing on the cake I forgot to mention was that I prefer a side of bread with jam to accompany my dish. After we placed our order, I told my friend why time we've been to a place where a server didn't write down the order, something always gets left out. Case in point when my bread and jam were no where to be found. Further proving my point! When I pointed that out, I told the server not to worry about it at this point but kindly ask that it be removed from our bill. When we went to pay, they had one of those machines where you put the card in right at the table. While they asked if we'd like the receipt, I prefer to see the check to make sure everything is in order before processing the bill, not after. Based on the math, I don't think I was charged but because I didn't see it, I don't know. All in all, this wasn't bad but I was underwhelmed for my first visit. I plan to try them again and hope things are better next time around. read more

The sliders were slightly overcooked. The avocado mayo didn't really elevate the sliders. Maybe a spicy ketchup would be better. Great service from a newer waiter (he was being shadowed by another server). I love the servers use handheld devices to submit orders to the kitchen and to pay. Really nice experience here last evening. It was restaurant week in Clayton so Ivy Cafe had a fixed menu, but it was delicious. We started with beet chips and a salad. Both had ultra fresh ingredients and excellent flavors. See pictures. They were as enticing to the eye as the palate. I neglected to photograph the entrees but they were wonderful. Wife had the short ribs, which she let me try. Nice crunchy carbonized flavors, over a bed of creamy potatoes. Not a large meal however. I had the pasta carbonara which was more filling with delicious morel mushrooms and some crispy pork bits. Just the right amount of earthy cheesy flavor as well. Devine and enough that I felt fed. For dessert we had the gooey butter cake, which was our favorite, and the lemon olive oil cake which was a little light on flavor. But they were both good. Excellent coffee and teas here as well. Many of the platings were in hand thrown and fired dishes which were a treat in themselves. Dining chairs not comfortable by the end of a long meal. Lots of attention to detail here from the space to the food and beverages. Not cheap but highly recommended. read more

Posting an updated review as I finally made it to Ivy for dinner. We had 4 in our party on a bustling Saturday night and got in immediately with a reservation. I will begin with the one aspect that was not the best: it took us about 25 minutes to get water. They notified us they were short on glasses which is no biggie, but when I am at a restaurant I tend to drink 5-6 glasses of water. And, once we did get water they provided us with a jug for refills and once that was gone they never refilled it. Okay, now for all of the positives, because they far outweigh the negatives here. The workers are great. The, who I assume to be the owner/manager, kept apologizing for not having waters out. The server did the same, super polite. They were definitely understaffed during our visit, but they all continued to smile. The fried pickles can hang with the best of them. Sliced paper thin and not too sour. The breading is crispy with the perfect amount of salt. truly some of the best I have had. The lamb pot pie was amazing as well. The actual puff pastry is wonderfully crusted and flaky. Baked to golden brown perfection.. the lamb is great and adds a distinct flavor to impart some innovation on a classic dish. The cacio e pepe was great also. the capers I think perfect this dish. Their version is super light and creamy. A great dish. Lastly, the sourdough sliders are probably the highlighth of the night. First, the sourdough is superb. They have their recipe perfected. But, the burgers were cooked great and the avocado mayo adds a nice texture to keep you wanting more. Ivy is a really solid spot. I went to Ivy Café for dinner during Clayton restaurant week. I've been here before for breakfast, well... Mostly lattes, but never tried it for dinner so this was my first time. I love the way Ivy Café looks. It's really small in the inside with patio- sidewalk seating on the outside. It's literally one of the cutest restaurants in Clayton in my opinion. The servers were absolutely awesome. Everyone seemed so attentive from the time I walked in until the time I left. Also, having a top-notch playlist playing in the background of the restaurant almost made me give this place five stars. I'm not sure who did the playlist, but I was jamming the entire time. The drinks were also really, really good. I had the Penrose and The Franz... both bourbon-based drinks but completely different. The Franz was a sweeter take on an old fashioned...and the Penrose was giving me Sidecar meets French 75 vibes. I was pleasantly surprised at the drinks. The food was good, but not great. That is the only reason why I had to give the place 4 stars. The entrée that I got, I believe was unique to Clayton restaurant week. The romesco sauce with the steak cubes were a little intense. The steak was awesome, but it was just too much sauce for me. I would have liked for it to have a little bit less sauce, a little bit more steak. Also, I feel like that should've been a fall entrée as it seemed a little hearty for it to be 90° outside. My dessert was great. It was a lemon and olive oil cake that had a unique but really good flavor. I am absolutely gonna come back again and try the full menu so I'll put a placeholder on this review because I really do believe the restaurant has five star potential based off of other people's word-of-mouth recommendations of things on the main menu. read more
