Ixtapa caught my eye while trying to find a good place to eat before seeing Amy Schumer at Fox Theater. This was probably one of the most authentic and delicious Mexican restaurants that I have ever been to. As soon as I walked through the door I was slapped in the face with a fantastic rendition of Selena's Bidi Bidi Bom Bom being sung in one of the most lit Karaoke parties I've ever witnessed. The whole restaurant was vibin and I was here for it....and some chips and salsa. The staff and service was awesome. We were kind of on a time crunch but they got us in and out no problem, even with the restaurant being pretty packed. With that being said, the parking lot is not very big so parking may be hard to find. You know I got the carne asada tacos (my fav), and they were absolutely delicious. The rice and bean were also delicious, but the rice really stood out for me. I'm a big fan of the veggies inside. If I drank alcohol regularly I would definitely have tried one of the cool drinks in the drink menu because they look super fun, and that's what I usually go for. Kids eat free Monday and Wednesday! Check this place out. Super fun. Super delicious. I will be back if I'm in riverside again. read more

OMG!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The food is INCREDIBLE! Not only is it very presentable and aesthetic, it is beyond amazing. The portions are also a really great size, the food is warm/hot, and the service is top notch. My family and I love coming here because of how attentive they are and how they're always checking in on us to see if we need anything. We LOVE Marisela! She is the sweetest person and has an amazing sense of humor. This restaurant is seriously a 100/10. Great portions, worth the money and we always leave very VERY satisfied. I've been coming to Ixtapa for a while now and the food is always delicious. The waitresses have always given us wonderful service, which is why I usually enjoy eating here. A few days ago, I sat at the bar instead of the dining area, and I noticed something that really bothered me. The bartender wasn't wearing any gloves, and I saw him touch money and then handle shrimp for a drink without washing his hands. On top of that, his attitude felt off and his vibe just didn't match the welcoming service I'm used to here. I really like this restaurant and plan to keep coming back because the food and waitresses are great, but I do think management should REALLY talk to the bar staff about wearing gloves and being more sanitary.. read more

Food was okay. It was plated very nicely, but tasted just okay. Ordered the empanadas de camarón and they came with a drizzle sauce on top that wasn't mentioned on the menu and didn't taste good and overpowered the taste of the empanadas. Ordered tacos and they were a good size, not small street style tacos. Service wasn't great, our server wasn't around when we needed her. We got seated in the bar area because they wanted to start closing down the other side of the restaurant (it was around 8pm, but the restaurant didn't close until 11pm). What really killed it for us is that they started cleaning the floor with Fabuloso and that stuff smells so strong that as we ate, all we could taste and smell was Fabuloso. It was very unpleasant. Birria nacos were really good, their consume is delicious. Chicken con rajas in cream sauce was great, loved the sauce. They bring out a noodle soup with vegetable broth instead of chips and salsa while you look through the menu, the vegetable broth is really good, very flavorfully. Soon as you walk in, the music is way too loud can't talk to the person sitting in front of you. The ambulance was cool nice Mexican vibe. The service is very slow. We ordered an appetizer and it came after all our meals even though we asked her to check on it twice. The food was surprisingly good. It appeared that there was too many tables. I went for a celebration with my friends and family and the food was fine. It was their service/safety that was concerning. They turned the high chair upside down as a makeshift infant seat holder. I didn't notice this when they brought it to our table. Our infant fell out of it. The high chair is not designed to hold the car seat!! Restaurants need to really stop doing this. Then someone came up to us to show us a video of what happened basically blaming our 1 year old baby for touching the seat. They never even apologized. Our daughter could've had a terrible traumatic injury due to their negligence. Thank God, she was strapped in!! This should never have happened. read more
