I was quite disappointed. The night started rough: we waited 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, and the hostess threw down the menus on our table like it was the end of her shift and walked away without saying much of anything. Our waitress was super kind and attentive, the best part of the night. The drinks were good (and even came with extra!) and the appetizers were okay, but slightly overpriced. The crispy shrimp were fantastic, and the Caesar salad was just okay. The croutons in the salad were obviously fresh, but somehow still soggy. Our waitress cleared our appetizer plates and brought us steak knives. Naturally, we expected the entrees to come out soon. However, the entrees took so long that I barely wanted mine anymore. It was already an hour after our reservation time before we were served them. And the wait was definitely not worth it, either. The steak kabob and rice were the quality of Ruby Tuesday's and the fries were the quality of Steak 'n Shake's. I finished my entrée out of hunger, rather than of quality and enjoyment. We were originally going to get a dessert, but it was so late that we didn't even bother. The Sysco quality of the entrees and the long wait times were not worth the steakhouse prices. We don't have one in Port St Lucie. Went today right around noon, not too busy yet and overall it was ok. Fabian our server was nice, invisibly attentive. I had the veggie burger with side of roasted cauliflower. Husband had French dip, meat was a bit over, fries crisp. Overall wasn't a bad experience, the hostesses weren't welcoming or exuding friendly in any way. I chose this restaurant for my birthday lunch with my office staff because I've never eaten here before, and it did not disappoint! I'm glad we made a reservation because it was very crowded. You may call me basic, but I was really craving the crispy chicken tenders. People always brag about the salad, so I knew the tenders themselves would be enjoyable. They definitely were! I ordered french fries and the daily vegetable (carrots?) as my sides. I ended up sending the daily vegetable back to the kitchen because it was not good and got the "Not Your Ordinary Mac & Cheese" instead. That was delicious! I ordered the Citrus Crush as my cocktail. It was slightly watered down, but it still had a good taste. I'm glad I finally got a chance to try this restaurant chain that so many people swear by! Surprisingly I haven't had J. Alexander's until recently! I think I usually go on the other side (west) of I95 and didn't really consider the restaurants east of I95. Now that I know J. Alexander's is on the west side of 95, I'll be checking them out more frequently. Parking was really easy as they had a sign that indicated valet on this side and self parking on the other side. Even at 9pm on a Friday, the restaurant was really busy. We had a reservation and even walking in, I can see every table was full. We sat down and a server came to get our drink orders. We looked over the menu which is also posted online but they provided an additional specials menu. This really spoke to me. Almost everything on the specials menu was something I would order! I went with the steak skewers with grilled vegetables. It came with rice and it was delicious! Enough food for leftovers the next day. What surprised me was how fast the food came out. It hit our table 15 minutes after ordering which was great because we were starving! We thought it would take longer due to how busy they were. Definitely amazing taste and I can see why they have the business they do. read more

I eat at J Alexander's frequently and honestly, it's a consistent great meal. Hostesses up front were friendly and I appreciate the new signage stating that service dogs are the only dogs allowed on premises. People are bringing dogs everywhere and support/comfort animals are just a bogus excuse to inappropriately bring an animal to a restaurant or grocery store. Kudos to the restaurant for enforcement! The ribs were excellent! Hearty portion of fall off the bone baby backs with a tasty bbq sauce. Good slaw and robust portion of fries coupled with an excellent attentive server, Noah. My friend raved about the ginger sea bass special with crispy shrimp. Will be back soon when I'm a little hungrier to attack the smoked salmon dip. read more

Sunday night, family dinner, looking for a winner, and served up a dud at J.Alexander's. We usually have luck here and great service. This time with Jennifer at the helm it was lackluster from the start. Wifey asked about the salmon and was described as grilled, with spices and butter. Then a complete description of three other fish dishes. I thought this was a sign of the waitress telling us not to order it. I pondered the menu. Wife went steak, and I was back at salmon. I asked if I misunderstood her, and Jennifer told us the salmon was one of her favorites. Confused I asked about the spices. Three times I was told "spices" so I asked how many spices Jennifer could name on it. The answer was that she just wasn't a very descriptive person. I ordered it anyway. To her credit she came back with a report cayenne pepper, salt, butter and garlic. Salmon was good. Very bland but cooked perfectly. Had rice on the side that saw several forks. I'd get it again in the end. Wifey liked the filet, but said that too was bland. She loved the baked potato. Neither of my kids liked the chicken tenders. I thought they were better than most places. Waitress was attentive the rest of the meal. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived but bustling when we left, and we were never rushed. Got the carrot cake to go, and was tasty! Last trip in the service put average food over the top, and this time made us question why we return for average food. read more

I go to this location often, we get there at an earlier hour to beat the crowds, this location is mid Boca so lots of people . The nice young ladies that great you will start you off to a great experience. Fernando and the crew at the bar are really wonderful. Foods great and this latest visit really made my day , the NO dogs inside sign...legit certified dogs Yes , your emotional dog in a cart is a no go . And 3 staff members followed up and did what ALL restaurants should do , stand behind the sign that these entitled dog owners choose to ignore like it doesn't apply to them. Alexander's in Boca is usually good but when we went yesterday, we had one of the worst entrees that we've ever had there. I don't usually get beef, but the waiter said the Prime Rib was very good, so I thought I'd try it. It looked especially fatty and under cooked when it arrived. Could hardly cut it b/c of the tough ligaments. Definitely not Prime cut, more like choice cut. And chewy too. I should have sent it back b/c it didn't even look appetizing. I rarely send anything back (you might get more of the same). So be aware that PRIME is not PRIME there. Don't waste your money or you can take a chance and send it back if necessary. The rest of the meal was good (salad and smashed potatoes.) BTW the J. Alex in Dunwoody, Ga. is excellent. read more

The restaurant was packed. Some guest were there too long with too much to drink. I've never had the ribs so I tried them. To be honest, the ribs were just okay. There were 4 of us that went for a birthday celebration. The prime rib is my favorite item on the menu. I ordered it and was so disappointed. It was tasteless and even with the horseradish cream which was basically just horseradish it didnt help. I am not sure if they forget to season it but.......never again. The other person in the party ordered the chicken salad and could barely eat it as it was too spicy, no where in the description does it mention anything spicy. I'm a bit of an espresso martini snob but theirs was spot on! My co workers got a drink with vodka and sparkling wine that was delicious and beautifully presented with a flower in it. EVERYTHING we ordered was to die for!! Filet kabobs 10/10 even though the meat quality seemed a little poor the flavor with the pineapple juice was out of this world! HUGE amount of smashed potatoes and a side of the cauliflower. Make sure you try the cauliflower! Best cauliflower I've ever had!!
