Always a nice experience with exceptional service and a great vibe. Made a reservation on a busy Saturday night and was seated right away. To me the star of the menu is the Alex's salad. It's the perfect concoction and best way to start off any meal there. I also had the prime rib which was is always great there. Make sure to ask for their creamy horseradish if you get it. Our server was, as always, super friendly and professional. My only constructive criticism is to maybe offer a few more daily entree specials given the menu is somewhat limited and has been the same for a while. What a sad misstep by management. Simple request for two unmarinated ribeyes. Steaks came out marinated. We requested again unmarinated. Steaks came out overcooked and the manager didn't bother to come over on a sleepy Monday night to apologize or offer a comped drink. Not what I would have expected from a quality place. Lessons learned. Avoid this place for a while until they learn how to treat guests properly. Our waiter Andrew was terrific. I've been going to J. Alexander's for 30 years. Last Thursday was the worst experience I've ever had. I called to ask what time the kitchen closed. I was told 10pm. I arrived before 8:30 and there was a mad rush to clean up behind the bar. I ordered chicken pasta soup. The runner brought it out. I asked him if I could please have a roll up and some pepper. He said, "They have that behind the bar." Are you kidding? There was absolutely no way to get a bartender's attention. No one came back and asked how the soup was. It was way too old and thick. When I finally asked for my check and expressed my disappointment to the bartender, she tried very hard for service recovery. She didn't charge me for my soup and drink. I sincerely appreciated that but I had to find somewhere else to eat. I regret that I didn't get her name. I told her I was going to J. Mark's for the rest of my dinner. There, the food runner always asks if you need anything else. Not only did the food runner not ask me that at J. Alexander's, he refused to get me a roll up or pepper when I requested it. If your staff has to do a big job at the end of shift, please close early rather than treating customers so poorly. This is my families go to place. My kids love their chicken fingers and fries. The Mac and cheese is to die for and my always go to is the J Alexander Salad. It's a basic salad but I get stuffed on the smoked salmon dip and this salad is perfect. Don't get me started on the martinis. One of my favorite Ft Lauderdale restaurants to have dinner at. Service is always great and they to me have the Best Queso Dip as an appetizer. They typically have some nice specials with one of them being filet mignon kabobs with veggies over a bed of rice. Manager appears shortly after orders were placed informing guests "we only have Medium prime roast available."Guests were disappointed and were told to order something else since medium rare was not available. Now come on. They know how many reservations on the books for Monday evening. They know how to anticipate number of portions to prepare. There is no excuse for mismanaging a key item on the menu. Went here today with two girlfriends for lunch. The food was delicious. I ordered the cajun trout (which was one of the specials). It was flavorful without being spicy. Late Saturday lunch at the bar area. I have dined here a few times over the years when I visit FLL. I always sit at the bar. Each time the service at the bar has been mediocre. Today was no exception. Ordered the burger, no cheese with lettuce, mayonnaise, and pickles. The burger arrived with nothing on it. Took a while to get the servers attention. They brought a small sprig of leaf lettuce and three small pickles. Didn't provide any salt or pepper. Didn't really check on me. Burger was 20 bucks. The burger itself was large but overcooked. I ordered medium well. It was well. With tea and tax/tip it was a $30 lunch. Next visit I will just return to Jacks Hamburgers, save $ and have a better burger. read more

As soon as we walked in, it reminded me of Big Bear in Coral Springs but each of these dining spots is different, including the offerings on their menus and the wine list, which has well over 50 selections here. This grill has more of an eccentric vibe and it's more spacious. The outside seating area is also roomy. The wait for us was 45 minutes on a very busy post-COVID Saturday evening, yet well worth it. My second-born daughter and I were celebrating her Birthday Eve today, just the two of us, but very different from the hours preceding her arrival 35 years ago. We played catch-up with drinks and starters; moving quickly to Ceasar salads and our Veggie Burgers and fries. I can still savor the juicy, flavorful, and stacked veggie patty with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and four tiny slices of pickles. It was just right! Our server was excellent, giving us plenty of time to talk, while making sure we were happy and satisfied with our experience. We ended our meal by sharing a decadent slice of chocolate cake and ice cream, which our server kindly brought over with a lit candle for my little girl. Verdict: I still love this place! This is one of my favorite "chain" restaurants, let me tell you why! Service is on point, food is deeeelicious, and the vibe inside is even better. I always feel "at home" here, it's super cozy inside and I haven't met a bad apple, if they have one. Took my dad to Father's Day dinner this year here - his pick, not mine lol. He LOVES their ribs, I should also note he eats ribs maybe 1 other place, other then here, they are that good he says! Me on the other hand I usually get whatever I feel, could be sushi( love theirs), could be crab cakes ( also fabulous), this time around I got the prime rib and it did not disappoint! The 2 of us came here for dinner about 6 months ago, and we liked the food and experience so much that we've returned 3 times since, driving all the way from Miami to do so. We like the decor and vibe of this place, from the red brick interior to the look of the bar, to the very dark lighting in the dining room with just a single downlight to illuminate each table, tightly focused lighting on the artwork, real (large sized) candles at each table, the open kitchen, etc. The specialty cocktails are well-poured and are very reasonably priced vs. most Miami area bars and restaurants. The menu isn't huge, but it's varied enough that most anyone should be able to find something to satisfy them. Service has always been consistently good from attentive wait and bus staff. My only 2 (slight) criticisms of this Redlands Grill by J. Alexanders would be 1) Their hours. They close at 9:30 through the week and at 10 on Friday and Saturday nights. We've been here a few times when people were still arriving and being seated 30 minutes before closing. They could probably stand to extend their hours. 2) The food has been a bit inconsistent at times. The last time we came here my husband was so thrilled with his steak and how it was cooked that he couldn't wait to return. When we came back a week ago that same steak ordered at the same temperature was served overcooked and charred in places. read more

J Alexander's Redlands Grill is a great option to go with family or friends. Been here a few times and it's never a disappointment. The menu has a ton of options like salads, seafood, classic entrees, steaks, veggie burgers etc. This restaurant does get packed so I recommend a reservation. They set up the table very nicely specially for larger parties. The service is consistent and they do let you modify your entree if needed. My favorite guilt free entree is the grilled salmon. I've gotten it with the orzo rice mix or greens. The portion is quite big and fulfilling. In desserts, the chocolate cake and ice cream is a classic. Always a good meal. Great experience from start to finish! My husband and I made 6pm reservations for Saturday. When we arrived, they handed me a "happy birthday" card from the restaurant. We were nicely greeted, and promptly shown to our booth. First things first... if you've loved JAlexanders from back in the day, then you probably remember their honey butter croissants. They give you a basket when you're seated. I about died of excitement! They are hot, gooey, and topped with honey butter! What's not to love!? Once we had our drinks, we decided we had to try their Avocado Bomb app. This is diced ahi tuna, topped with crab, and encased in thin slices of avocado. It was served with fresh tortilla chips and was fresh and delicious. For our main dishes, we got the Red Fish Sandwich. This was a generous amount of fish, cooked perfectly, served on a buttered and toasted roll with beautiful lettuce and tomato. The remoulade sauce it comes with has a nice flavor! The dish is served with one side, and Not Your Ordinary Mac was selected. It did not disappoint! It was creamy and dreamy! We also got an Ahi Tuna Filet. This was grilled to PERFECTION, and was served rare just as requested. It's a damn good piece of tuna. Upon first glance, it really looks like a filet mignon. This is served with two sides- we selected beefsteak tomatoes and the fresh veggie of the day, which was corn. Loved every bite! Lastly, we finished off with the carrot cake, which is always delicious at J's. This dessert is definitely their signature dessert. Service throughout dinner was excellent from Tatiana. Last evening I ordered the Jack's chicken the pieces were like charred scraps, the mac and cheese were barely warm when served, mushy overcooked macaroni almost like meal, the side of cole slaw was extremely over-peppered. OderdA glass of wine and a beer and we ordered our entrées the southern salad I requested no tomatoes not highly allergic but allergic still tomatoes on my plate. Living in Fort Lauderdale one can't say there is a shortage for restaurant options. That all said, J Alexanders never fails when entertaining guest. Prior to seeing Tina at the Broward Performing Arts we decided to grab dinner at J Alexanders. Upon entering expect low lighting , perfect ambiance and setting for intimate dinners. They also have limited outdoor seating and since the weather was nice we opted for outdoor seating. Gary, our server, was quick to greet us with ice water! The steak tacos were flavorful and the veggie burger was very delightful. Everyone enjoyed what they had for dinner, which is easy on the ear when entertaining guest outside of your home.
