A Hidden Gem for German Cuisine in Ft. Lauderdale! If you're craving authentic German food and a stellar beer selection, this place is a must-visit. The beer list is extensive, especially the German options--plenty of Hefeweizens that were absolutely delightful. What really made the night special was the staff. Both our server and the host were incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. Amy, in particular, stood out--she clearly knows the menu inside and out, and her recommendations were spot-on. You can tell she's tried everything and genuinely wants guests to enjoy their meal. Highly recommend the Jaeger schnitzel and the goulash soup. I didn't know what goulash was at first, but it turned out to be a rich, flavorful broth with tender meat and vegetables--comforting and delicious. The lobster bisque was also good, but the goulash won me over. Can't wait to come back.

First time coming to The Ambry, got a reservation for early dinner at 5:30. They sat us down quickly. The restaurant is set up as individual small dining rooms, with German decor and steins on the walls. Service was great and very friendly. They had a full menu, an early bird menu as well as nightly specials. The waitress was happy to explain and answer questions. I ordered from the early bird menu. A cup of French onion soup, Sauerbraten with spatzle. Other diners with me opted for the schnitzel with home fries. Appetizers were potato pancakes and assorted brats with sour kraut. I had a 16 oz Tucher German beer. The meal included a slice of a lemon cake which was very good. And of course I took a piece of apple strudel. Lol . Overall very good and very friendly and efficient staff.

We came here mid-week as we were looking for something a bit different for lunch. I had been here many, many years ago when it was "famous" for Gerd Mueller's association (he was a German soccer player who came to play for the then Fort Lauderdale Strikers soccer team). It was so long ago that I couldn't remember what I'd had or whether I liked it or not. They have a very good lunch menu with reasonable prices. We had come a bit late -- they close at 1:30 pm before reopening for dinner -- and we were the only people dining in the front room. There were a few more folks in the bar having lunch there. We got great friendly service, of course. The place is decorated in every space and corner. Beer steins, photos, award plaques, old farming equipment, etc. etc. I took a quick walk through to the various rooms to look at some of the German-themed items. We debated between a few different options on the menu. They have soups, salads, and sandwiches -- even burgers. We decided to order from the "German specialties" section. My husband got their "calves liver Berlin". I'm not a liver lover so I didn't try it. This was tender pieces of liver topped with a brown gravy, apples, bacon, and onions. He had their home fries as his side. He obviously liked it, as he ate the entire meal. I got their veal sauteed in a creamy wine mushroom sauce. The name is long on the menu (I couldn't pronounce it): Zuricher geschnetzeltes. I googled this while waiting for my food and saw that it means "sliced meat done in the Zurich style." In any case, this Swiss originating dish was tender veal pieces cut in strips and bathed in cream with some mushrooms. You could taste a touch of wine, too. The sauce went well with the plain spaetzle "noodles". I was too full to try any dessert, but my husband had some of the coconut cake made that day. It wasn't my style, but he liked it. I'm glad we came to try them. I know some friends who like German food who would love this place.

    Jaeger Schnitzel, spaetzle, and Hefeweizen

Love this place, there aren't enough German restaurants around and this is a good one. I had the Jaeger Schnitzel, it was fabulous.

Craving prime rib, I had found non-Yelp reviews that The Ambry served it up pretty good. I've walked by a dozen times and never thought to go in, and I like German food. With a 5-6 pm early bird Prime Rib special at $21.95, we went in. The Ambry has been around for decades and looks like you walked into an old pub in Germany. Lots of dark wood and beer steins. The area is split into smaller rooms with maybe 4 tables each which enhances the coziness factor. The waitresses were all friendly and appear to have worked here for years. They know the menu by heart. The recommended French Onion soup was excellent, probably the best I've had in some time. Not too salty and full of Gruyère cheese. Delicious! The prime rib cut was very good and my requested medium rare. Not a lot of fat and not the best I've had in South Florida, but at $21.95 for a 3 course meal it's worth it. I wasn't expecting Eddie V's. Jerry H and Nanette Z liked their entrees too, especially the Zuricher Geschnetzeltes veal with a rich creamy white sauce. We had bottle of wine and German beer drafts. We'll definitely come back to try more of the German menu.

Needed a break from our regular haunts, been a while since we've had German food. The exterior of this spot always caught my eye because it looks like a castle, which is certainly unique. Overall, this place is a vibe - from the quaint woodland decor, to the super intimate dining alcoves, it's a welcome break from the ultra-minimalistic decor of other restaurants and transports you to another continent entirely. Decent beer selection; Krombacher and Weihenstephaner are particular favorites of mine and Krombacher goes so nicely with the rich flavors of sausage and roasted pork. Tonight we started with a pretzel, which was massive and perfect for four people - we ordered two different cheese spreads with it at the server's recommendation. One cheese had horseradish and the other was a bit of a spicy garlic cheese, both went very well with the warm, salty pretzel, a long with a lovely brown mustard. We also ordered the mixed sausage platter, which comes with bratwurst, knockwurst, and leberkaese, and some sauerkraut and mustard. The bratwurst was especially good with the mustard and I loved the pop of the casing on the knockwurst. This was some of the best sauerkraut I've ever had. We ordered shweinebraten (roasted pork) which came with red cabbage and a dumpling, but I switched it out for spaetzle; paprika schnitzel, which came with spaetzle; and Jaeger schnitzel, which had a glorious mushroom gravy. All items also came with a choice of soup or salad and at the recommendation of a friendly guest nearby, we decided to try the creamy garlic soup, which was quite lovely, very savory, and the goulash, which had a nice, subtle kick to it. I was very impressed by all of the flavors: the pork was rich and tender, the spaetzle had a great texture, the red cabbage was delightfully tart. To cap it off, we split a warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. Sweet apples and cinnamon between delicate pastry can't go wrong. This is a very hearty cuisine... No one goes hungry here. It's not an expansive menu, but there are still plenty of options to choose from protein-wise and the servers are happy to help with any questions or requests and can help steer you in the right direction.

The food was delicious, house-made German. The atmosphere and service were as great as I hoped.

Delicious ! Went there for lunch and found the lunch prices to be reasonable and the portions large. The hostess was the bartender and waitress....all 3 in 1. Nice hardworking and efficient lady. She was pleasant and prompt. We ordered a few things and all of them were excellent, so no need to break down the items....just get anything you like on the menu and enjoy some great German food. We got the Liver dumpling soup, the liver and onions, the wiener schnitzel and the pork chop and brat plat. Large size meals with a delicious flavor profile. They came quickly as well. Excellent.

    Goulash soup. Amazing !!!!

Parking was conveniently located right in front of the restaurant, making it an easy stop. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted and invited to sit wherever we liked. We chose a table near the window and immediately appreciated the intimate and charming atmosphere. The restaurant also features a bar and televisions, creating a relaxed and welcoming vibe. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive, and made us feel right at home, which always enhances the dining experience. Although we weren't extremely hungry, the menu had so many appealing options that we decided to sample a few items. We started with the Caribbean Tea shots, which were unique, refreshing, and surprisingly enjoyable. For drinks, we ordered a Malbec and a Peanut Butter Old Fashioned. Our first entrée was the Churrasco Frites, featuring marinated skirt steak topped with chimichurri and served with twister fries. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful, but those fries were the true star of the dish. Still wanting more, we ordered the Garlic Parmesan Twice Cooked Wings. They were nicely prepared and satisfying, though I would have enjoyed a stronger garlic flavor. Not quite finished, we moved on to the Oaxaca Burger, an 8 ounce burger stacked with onion rings, bacon jam, house BBQ sauce, and Oaxaca cheese. This was one of the best burgers I've ever had, and possibly the best. The bun was toasted yet soft, the burger was seasoned perfectly, and it was cooked to a juicy medium temperature. Every bite was packed with flavor. Overall, everything we ordered was excellent, and the service and atmosphere made the experience even better. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

The bar and restaurant itself has a welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. I ordered the tuna appetizer, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. To their credit, the staff handled it very professionally and took it back without any issue, which I appreciated. The rest of the table had a much better experience with their meals. The steak and salads especially got good reviews from everyone and looked very well prepared. Even though my dish missed the mark, the service and atmosphere were solid enough that I'd still consider giving eTwic another try in the future. Sometimes one item just doesn't hit, and there were definitely enough positives about the restaurant to make me curious to come back and try something different next time. I know that one friend at the table really enjoys this place so I must believe that she has good taste!

It ended up being the perfect choice because we still had beautiful views of the water and could watch the boats pass by while enjoying a much quieter atmosphere. Our waitress was wonderful. She was incredibly kind, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave great recommendations. Her personality was so warm and welcoming, and she struck the perfect balance of being attentive without constantly interrupting our meal. The food was outstanding. The filet mignon skewers were tender and practically melted in your mouth. The grilled onions, peppers, squash, and zucchini added so much flavor, and the mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious. The roasted chicken was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We also ordered the ceviche, which was fresh, bright, and one of our favorite appetizers of the night. And then there was dessert... the Going Bananas! Wow. It was the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal and something I'd order again in a heartbeat. Between the waterfront views, excellent service, and incredible food, Kaluz delivered a memorable dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
